Michael Bisping hopes to make UFC 105 fight against Denis Kang 'a night to remember'

Props: Bisping.tv

Quoteworthy:

"I may possibly be fighting Denis Kang at UFC 105.... Denis is a very experienced fighter who has fought, and beat some of the top names in the sport. I'm sure it would make for an exiting fight and we can make it a night to remember for the fans in Manchester. If your reading this Denis, good luck in training and I look forward to meeting you in Manchester."

England's-own, Michael Bisping, talks about his potential showdown against Denis Kang at UFC 105 from the Manchester Evening News (MEN) Arena in Manchester, England, on Nov. 14. "The Count" is coming off perhaps one of the most memorable knockouts in UFC history, getting demolished by a crushing Dan Henderson right hand/flying forearm combination at UFC 100 last month. He was also on the winning end of perhaps one of MMA's most controversial decision's in recent memory when he squeaked by Matt Hamill at UFC 75: "Champion vs. Champion" in Sept. 2007. He's certainly had his fair share of nights to remember, but can he ensure that this one against Kang ends in his favor?

ID definetly remember this night if bisping got messed up again

by JG on Aug 24, 2009 12:30 AM EDT up reply actions

Bisping looks like he’s squeezing out a fart in that pic

LOL!

by Oskarbravo on Aug 24, 2009 4:42 AM EDT up reply actions

It would be nice to see Kang use his underrated wrestling / ground game in this one and put Bisping out of his comfort zone and get the sub.

THORAZINE; woaahahahahahahHAHAHAHA!

by neeko on Aug 24, 2009 9:52 AM EDT up reply actions

Funny to see Bisping being all respectful… I guess he figured playing the antagonist didn’t work out too well. haha

by ---Caesar--- on Aug 24, 2009 11:30 AM EDT up reply actions

I honestly dont understand why I am the only Bisping fan on this planet. I think Bisping is a very skilled and solid fighter that always tries to BRING IT! He sure as hell never laid n Prayed his way to a win. Every time he puts someone on there back, he tries to end the fight. He fought at a higher weight class that he had no business fighting at. I honestly think that Bisping has improved a ton, and that he will prove it within the next year.

He gets a bad rap for the things that come out of his mouth, but I actually like the fact that he doeesnt regurgitate the same politically correct answers like GSP does. I like the fact that he speaks his mind, and we always know what he is really thinking. I have ZERO problems with his confidence and Brash personality!

Mental Warfare is a huge part of all sports and there are many fighters that SWEAR BY IT! That happens to be a big part of Bisping’s game. I really dont think he is anywhere near the Dick which he portray’s while trying to get under an opponents skin in the months leading up to a fight. Personally, I dont hold against him the things that come out of his mouth when he is intentionally trying to get his opponent pissed or when speaking confidently of himself.

I also believe that he GENUINLY wants to prove himself against top competition and that YES he was protected by the UFC, but I think thats more of what the UFC wanted then what he actually wanted! He got Brutally knocked out at UFC 100, an immediately after the fight, he basically BEGS for another top opponent to face. He lobbied for a fight with wanderlei and now he is taking on Kang, who when On, is very tough to beat at middleweight….Im sorry, but I gotta respect that approach!

to each his own!

by john G on Aug 24, 2009 11:56 AM EDT up reply actions

I’m with you John. I also thought Bisping was respectful of Dan until Dan started calling him a D.

by MM_Eh on Aug 24, 2009 2:38 PM EDT up reply actions

I’m with u on that one MM_Eh… Bisping is brash and arrogant but he was never really disrespectful to Dan until he got called a Douchebag. The only guy I remember Bisping being disrespectful was to Matt Hammill, other than that he’s he doesn’t get out of line by disrespectful remarks… however he does talk his share of hype. Nothing wrong with that, I think he just rubs fans the wrong way… btw, I’m a Hendo fan!

by THORAZINE on Aug 24, 2009 3:02 PM EDT up reply actions

F*ck Bisping.Im hope Kang (Hendo’s) his azz.he is not that good. The only thing he does good is stays busy.He has zero power. He is always talking about he footwork and blah blah.Idk he just rubs my the wrong way.

by SluggerCitySoldier on Aug 24, 2009 5:42 PM EDT up reply actions

I don’t get the Bisping hate either. I’m not a big fan, but he is a decent fighter with crisp stand-up but little power. The hatred for him seems to basically boil down to a whole bunch of pinheads chanting “USA! USA!” at the top of their lungs.

by Jeremyjackson on Aug 24, 2009 6:37 PM EDT up reply actions

Well personally for me, it wasnt Bisping losing. It was Dan getting the win. Im a big hendo fan. Bisping is a good fighter, i just loved having Hendo win. I dont care where their from in the least.

by medecine balls on Aug 24, 2009 11:58 PM EDT up reply actions

Evenly matched fight with grappling skills going to Kang IMO. Denis can beat him but he’s a choke artist. He can’t perform under any kind of spotlight. I think Joe Silva is banking on that to get him a credible top 15-20 name on his resume.

by NameNotRequired on Aug 24, 2009 12:02 AM EDT up reply actions

I think the only way that this memorable for Bisping is if he eats the canvas again!!!!

by Da Monkey on Aug 24, 2009 8:08 AM EDT up reply actions

Oh wow listen to how humble he sounds now after dan buried him . I look forward to watch him get destroyed again. Hope kang comes in with his head straigh

by lestat on Aug 23, 2009 11:55 PM EDT reply actions

The only problem I had with Bisping was his mouth. He seems huble since Hendo KO’d his ass. I will actually root for Bisping in this fight if he stays humble

by lokie on Aug 23, 2009 11:59 PM EDT up reply actions

WOW, Bizzzzbing almost sounded respectful there. I think that extra blow Hendo landed has done some permanent damage. Well done Dan for taking this cocky sh!t down a peg or two, just dont expect it to last.

by attakdog on Aug 24, 2009 4:44 AM EDT up reply actions

i dont now why bisping ran his mouth so much against hendo maybe it was to get into his head we all know it didnt work remember how humble he was to jason day he said a lot of good things about day and look how he performed in the cage hopefully he is lke this more often now and might get some fans back

by boyer on Aug 24, 2009 6:46 AM EDT up reply actions

Attackdog, I agree. As long as Kang get’s this one it will stay but if Bisping pulls off a win, Cockiness shall return.

WAR KANG!!!

by neeko on Aug 24, 2009 9:53 AM EDT up reply actions

this guy is delusional………..

Dan sure knocked some of his screws loose.

by Homeslice on Aug 24, 2009 12:01 AM EDT reply actions

Getting KTFO is a very humbling experience apparently. I wish it happened much earlier in Bispings career so he would have been a little less full of himself. Maybe another ko and he’ll shut his mouth completely! I’m gonna have to pick Bisping in this one though…..he’ll have home field advantage which will be a factor.

by allamerican on Aug 24, 2009 12:06 AM EDT reply actions

Hopefully Kang gives him a boxing lesson.

by DirtyML on Aug 24, 2009 12:09 AM EDT reply actions

bisping better hope he catches kang in a choke lol

kang hits harder and is better in the stand up i would think and will out grapple him bjj black belt my friend

by nelson on Aug 24, 2009 12:13 AM EDT reply actions

kang will too this guy anywhere the fight goes..just plain and simple

by gaara on Aug 24, 2009 12:47 AM EDT reply actions

Agreed. Unless Bisping runs around and somehow manages to look busier and wina decision I see Kang winning this one for sure.

by Ca$z on Aug 24, 2009 5:25 AM EDT up reply actions

There is no chance in hell that Dennis Kang will beat Michael Bisping!

by Phasebook on Aug 24, 2009 1:04 AM EDT reply actions

Yeah coz Bizzzzbing’s so ace and such a finisher?? How anyone can get excited about watching Bizzzzbing and still claim he’s legit is beyond me. The guy has absoloutely zero KO power, and no kind of gg or anything resembling a submission. This guys only way to beat a top ranked oponent is to back peddle away from them and pitter patter them with his powder puff punches for a judges decision. The guy is boring as sh!t to watch, who wants to watch and get behind a guy who has no chance of finishing a fight??

How many fights has this overhyped can had now in the UFC, 8??? His greatest win at LHW was against Elvis Sinosic (you cant count the Hammil fight) and his greatest win at MW is against Chris Leben. You can spoonfeed this guy all the cans in the world, he aint legit and as soon as he encounters a top 20 opponent he is always going to come up short. Cut your losses UFC with this big headed pr!ck and find another UK posterboy instead. Preferrably one with an ounce of talent, who isn’t such an arrogant shit!

by attakdog on Aug 24, 2009 5:00 AM EDT up reply actions

hmmm wonder why he is called the count… must be because sommit like 11 of his wins are by KO or tko,

so he must have the power somewhere, end of the day stop moaning attak your sounding like a broken record :P
(j/k)about him facing cans, majority of fighters in ufc get cans to start with, its very rare they get dropped in the deep end with top 5 fighters from the get go,

so what he faced some cans, worked his way up faced a legit top 10 got knocked out badly, has clearly eaten the humble pie, and is looking to get back on track. So fair play to him..

Bisping TKO round 1

by CoNr on Aug 24, 2009 7:43 AM EDT up reply actions

Nah mate he’s called the count coz he’s got ancestors from Transylvania, as in “Count” Dracula. Nothing whatsoever to do with knocking people out for the count lol.

The guy’s worked his way up twice by beating up cans, to fight top 10 opponents and got comfortably beaten both times. Look at his record, he’s got no wins over top 20 opponents in any division. The guy aint legit and couldn’t finish a packet of crisps.

by attakdog on Aug 24, 2009 7:49 AM EDT up reply actions

Bisping has talked the talk many times but not backed it up in the octagon, and yeah we sound like a broken record bitching about it but UK shows become like a broken record when Bisping gets announced yet again..:-)

by JackScratch on Aug 24, 2009 8:12 AM EDT up reply actions

really,… didnt no that about his name, nice one attak i learnt sommit new today :) oh and sorry if i came off like a bit of a douche in previous comment, i do enjoy ur posts u know ur shit and you put it forward in a way that when i read ur comments when in work i do norm giggle out loud or shout thats bull shit at my mac… my work mates think im a bit strange now :P

it is true what u say about gettin beat by top 20’s, tho i did think he did do well against rashad, tho i dont think he won the fight,

and jack your damn right about UK shows and always bisping being on them, tho i am really really really looking forward to hardy and stun gun, think that has potential to be an amazing fight

by CoN'r on Aug 24, 2009 1:01 PM EDT up reply actions

Bisping was born in Cyprus, he has family there, in Germany, England, US,… all over. I haven’t heard that his ancestors are Transylvanian!?

What I did hear is that he’s got some royal blood in the family and he would have been a ‘Count’ (a designation like a ‘Duke’ or ‘Baron’) if WWII hadn’t occurred.

But I don’t know for sure!?

by JS on Aug 24, 2009 1:40 PM EDT up reply actions

I figured they called him the “count” because he was counting sheep after Hendo rocked him to sleep!

by Dana's a CrossDresser on Aug 24, 2009 5:39 PM EDT up reply actions

ALl speculation. We better do our research…I believe his favorite character in Sesame Street growin’ up was The Coun[ah ah ah ah!!], hence the moniker…

by Syd on Aug 24, 2009 6:33 PM EDT up reply actions

Yeah the way Bizzzzbing conducts himself with such dignity and grace in public, you can clearly see the man’s descended from aristocracy js, LMAO.

by attakdog on Aug 25, 2009 4:17 AM EDT up reply actions

haha, well we all know class and manners aren’t genetic! but, the ‘Count’ is because he’s related to aristocracy, that’s what i hear anyway.

by JS on Aug 25, 2009 10:57 AM EDT up reply actions

My story’s true, I’m tellin ya, his grandfather/greatgrandfather was from Transylvania. There aint no aristocracy in Clitheroe JS lol. Besides we dont get counts in this country anyway, that’s like an Austrian/German/Romanian title. The only count I can think of in Britain is Ted “The Count” Hankey the darts pitcher.

I told ya! Poland/Transylvania, same difference lol

by attakdog on Aug 26, 2009 4:57 AM EDT up reply actions

Yeah..I totally agree with you attakdog..All of what you said are true. But do you honestly believe that Dennis Kang will beat Michael Bisping? Watch Kang’s previous fights (not only UFC) and tell me, do you really believe in your heart that Dennis Kang will beat Michael Bisping? I am a trie MMA Fan and I give Dennis Kang no chance in hell of beating Michael Bisping!

by Phasebook on Aug 25, 2009 12:21 AM EDT up reply actions

I never said he would. IMO Kang is better than Bizzzzbing in all areas, but just has mental lapses when on top, and that’s a big problem. The only way Bizzzzbing wins this fight is to run backwards throwing out his feather duster jab for a hometown judges decision. Kang has to finish the fight and is more than capable of doing so, just whether or not he can in the big spotlight.

by attakdog on Aug 25, 2009 4:21 AM EDT up reply actions

i think kang is good but!! dont you think theres going to be a lack of punching power in this one,..wait! before you give me some cocky answer like kang has all this power,,..your wrong he dont i got the youtube page up of all his fights just to make sure i havent missed something, good but no power, look for a boring fight, yes i like all aspects of mma, dosnt change the fack kang is going to submit bisping in a lack luster fight

by erik on Aug 24, 2009 1:06 AM EDT reply actions

Of course Kang hits harder than Bisping. The wind hits harder than The Count.

by the Slovak on Aug 24, 2009 12:42 PM EDT up reply actions

by Bastard on Aug 25, 2009 1:36 AM EDT up reply actions

Nah mate, fraid not. When he was a kid must have been the last time he “kicked the fuck” out of anyone, coz his KO power’s stuck at the same level it was when he was 11 ;-)

i got bisping as well!~

by stinky~fingers on Aug 24, 2009 7:08 AM EDT up reply actions

Kang is just plain out better fighter then Bisping hell Kang is better then most all the Middle weights in the world problem is he just has these brain farts and gives free wins away.

by Khaos_Warrior on Aug 24, 2009 2:38 AM EDT reply actions

kang aint better than most mw!~

kang isn’t even in my top 15 mw ranking~

he might have alot of potential, but he isn’t better!~

alot of the top mw’s in mma have learned to keep their focus in check.. dennis does not! that is a flaw and the reason he only has the potential..

the skills r there, but the man gets shook!

imo~ being shook, not being able to focus, not cutting weight proper, injuries, or just the “i had a bad night” is no excuse for any fighter!~ they are just flaws! if u have to use an excuse, u might as well just say “having bad nights” is MY FLAW..~ or “i got caught” because i have a flaw too “lucky punches”..

i don’t care for excuses.. if u lost u lost! man up..

peeps use “brain farts” or “off nights” too justify why kang is sooo goood yet under rated..~ meanwhile he is a mid level mw with decent mma skills..

the man does have potential though!~

by stinky~fingers on Aug 24, 2009 7:20 AM EDT up reply actions

I think this fight will answer more questions about Kang than Bisping. Bisping sucks, we all know that. But does Kang deserve the hype? I like him myself, but I grew up in Vancouver so I am biased.

what a shit main event, kang0-1 in ufc and he is headlining? what a joke and bisping shouldnt be headlining either just coz its in manchester..dana white gonna lose alot of english fans if he keeps putting low key stars on..he could quite easily make bj v sanchez happen!!!

by harv on Aug 24, 2009 6:09 AM EDT reply actions

This isnt the main event as far is ive understood.

Theyre doing Silva vs Hendo or Penn vs Sanchez as the main event while this fight is the co mainevent.

ya Michael ALL the other fighters sit around reading your blog….

by bDavid on Aug 24, 2009 9:08 AM EDT reply actions

Nah ive heard the main event is BJ v Diego, Bisping just completely bottled it last time out, lets be honest all Hendo did during the fight was throw big overhand rights and Bisping just kept walking straight into it. I dont think Silva would have any trouble disposing of Hendo, i like Bisping purely coz hes English and so am I, however you guys are right, hes not good enough, every good fighter must have at least a good punch to get them out the s**t, Bisping just aint got it. Im more excited about Dan Hardy than any other British fighter right now.

I predict it will be a snoozer.

Kang is a good fighter and I’ve always been a fan, but probably not good enough to make this fight exciting…because we all know that Bisping’s going to go back to his jab and backpeddle style for this one. Gauranteed Hendo fucked him up psychologically.

by Sir Chokemout on Aug 24, 2009 9:47 AM EDT reply actions

I dunno, besides this tidbit, I haven’t seen any humbleness from count.

In fact, he came out talking more smack then ever. “Demanding a top contender.” how the hell does he get to do that when Joe Silva could ko him? Then asking for a rematch down the road against Hendo? Lol umm what 4? So he can die? Literally.

Man, I swear if it weren’t for us seeing him lifeless on the canvas, you’d think he won that fight, way he talks! Sounds like he is destined for a belt shot the things he says.

He’s nuts

by Daniel worby on Aug 24, 2009 11:17 AM EDT reply actions

I’d have to watch that fight again, but from what I recall Bisping was actually winning the stand-up in the fight. I know it’s hard to get past the fact that the lasting image we have of the fight was Bisping’s lifeless body laying on the canvas, but I do think he was outpointing Hendo up until that point.

Maybe it’s just me though, but I thought Bisping was on his way to a decision victory, until he decided to ignore his corner, keep circling left, until Hendo got the timing down…………..oops.

Don’t get me wrong, I can’t stand Bisping, and I’m a big Henderson fan….but what I saw in that fight was reminiscent of the Arlovski/Fedor fight……..decent showing by the eventual loser, until………….BAM!!!!!

by introvert on Aug 24, 2009 11:47 AM EDT up reply actions

Hmm I don’t remember it that way, but u could very well be right. I’d have to watch it again as I do tend to watch these fights smashed! Ha ha.
But I feel that’s just the count, lil punches and hoping to escape til judges card. I don’t remember Dan being in any trouble at all.

by Daniel worby on Aug 24, 2009 1:12 PM EDT up reply actions

Dan wasn’t in trouble, but I think Bisping was outscoring him the entire fight(sans two punches lol).

I could be wrong, but from what I remember Bisping was scoring more and Dan was basically just ducking his head and throwing the right hand haymaker. Dan took two or three pitty pats, then threw the right… multiple times before actually connecting.

Not that it makes any difference now, but I do think that if Bisping was smart enough to know what his corner knew (and everyone watching the fight at home)…that Hendo ws gonna tag him unless he circled right, he would have won a decision.

But….woulda, coulda, shoulda.

All it is. If you want to be a popular foreign fighter in America, especially a popular British fighter you have to get down and suck some American cock otherwise people are gonna hate you and showing any disrespect to Dan (who is a really great guy and one of the best fighters in MMA history) was not a good move on BisPings part cuz Dan is the next Captain America after Couture.
The Boston Tea Party was a long, long time ago. Get over it.
Anyway Bisping is a fighter unlike most of you pussies on here, he’s made it a long way from very humble beginnings and he’s gonna learn a lot from his whooping by Dan.
Kang is also a great fighter who could pull off a victory against Bisping so when Bisping smashes him to pieces I hope some of you get your dildos out of your mongoloid asses and show a bit of respect.
There I said it.
Peace.
