Art of Fighting 4: Seth Petruzelli scores first round win in return fight
The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) 2 alum, Seth Petruzelli, finally returned to action last night after nearly a year-long layoff, picking up right where he left off.
Petruzelli scored a first round technical knockout over Chris Baten in the co-main event at Art of Fighting 4 from the University of South Florida’s Sun Dome in Tampa, Fla., according to The News-Press.
It was a stoppage with which Baten, and apparently the crowd, did not agree.
Here's a snip:
"It was definitely a clean knock down but not a knockout. It caught me on the cheekbone with enough power to put me on my butt. But I wasn’t seeing stars. I was in a scramble coming back up."
Regardless, the win stands -- his third straight and first since hitting the MMA lotto with a 14-second stoppage of the previously undefeated YouTube.com street fighting legend Kimbo Slice at Elite XC: "Heat" in Oct. 2008.
For more on Art of Fighting 4, which aired live via online pay-per-view (PPV) on Aug. 28, head over to the promotion's official Web site right here.

Kind of ironic that he has the shaved head and the beard. Maybe he did that as a joke towards Kimbo?

Seth’s a good guy. Go easy. He nearly single-handedly brought down EXC. His win over Kimbo was akin to Mir’s over Lesnar… well, not really. ;) Let him have his day in the sun. Maybe we’ll see him back in the UFC.

I don’t understand why peoples care about that f’n queer. He did make his name by beating KIMBO, yeah KIMBO SLICE.

That’s a whole lot better than the other way around….what did you want him to do…lose that match (wait, that’s what ELITE wanted him to do)? lol

I dont understand why people care about calling Seth a f’n queer. Seriously what gives? He wins his fights when someone gives him one. When I’ve heard him speak he is fairly humbled and would fight more if the options were on the table. Now I did watch this last fight AOW and it did look like another early stoppage, but don’t fault Seth, he cracked him and kept throwing until the ref got in the way. Not sure anyone else would have handled that any differently.
If Seth continues to win then why not set up the Kimbo rematch most of us would watch it and enjoy it, about 10% would be continue to be little bitches about it I’m sure, but thats a certain type of fan (not you Alpha).
And about early stoppages while I’m at it. The onus is on the fighter. Do what Miguel Torress does and talk to the ref about they type of stoppage your looking for or he’s going to make that call for you. Your a professional athlete communicate to the officials, they know – we know there not perfect.

I wouldn’t be making accusation of somebody being a “queer” if it wasn’t true. I don’t know if he was joking but…he did admitted to be playing for the other team. But, I was looking at my post and I can understand how it can be perceived as provocative toward some peoples. I didn’t mean it in a way to be offensive. I was saying it as a joke, but yeah, your right, it was of poor taste. BTW I have nothing against that and you’re right I shouldn’t calling him that, Sorry!
Chef, Syn, I was only saying that a lots of TUF and UFC alum who’s fighting for little show don’t have a thread about their win the next day of their fights. But Pet got some coverage b/c of Kimbo… kind of pathetic when you think about it. Marcio Cruz was on the card and he won too but it’s Mr. fairy (jk) that got all the attention. And guys, excuse me to lol when I’m reading that some of ya want to see a rematch between a HW an a LHW. Though you never know, Kimbo might drop to LHW one day, who knows?

Hey Alpha I think you intepreted my comment in a way it wasn’t meant. I didn’t know Seth had that sort of background not that i give a $hit eitherway. My point was more along the line of I don’t really get why people get down on fighters who are simply struggling to be successful. He’s out there grinding it out so why not just let him. But he’s gay huh?
I hope there is something that warrants that stamement other then just someone wearing pink and black one time.

Honestly… all Seth did was win his last two fights. It’s not like he is going on about himself like Tito does.

THANK YOU. I have no idea why someone can talk sh*t about a fighter for no reason.
by Bill Maher on Aug 23, 2009 1:56 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
I wasn’t talking sh*t, and have respect for anyone who steps into the cage. I was simply stating that a defeat over a drugdealing street fighter and Chris Batan isn’t exactly thrilling. I personally would like to see a rematch between Seth and Kimbo though. I see where you’re coming from about it sounding like me talking sh*t, but honestly, I’m respectful towards all fighters.

I know, it really doesnt look like him. It’s just the new look he’s sporting though, that’s definetely him if you look closely and picture him with pink f’ing hair.

I liked the pink hair better. It’s like you are laughing at the guy with pink hair, but he could knock your teeth out still…

I get the feeling that they’re trying desperately to make the Kimbo KO look legitimate. Hell, I guess it was! But, I predict that “if” Kimbo makes it to the big show, and Seth has a few more victories, the UFC will orchestrate a big rematch and sucker alot of people into spending a few bucks to see them again. There will be bad blood between these two by the time they fight again.

Bald head + big beard = awesomeness in my book
Baten said that he wasn’t seeing stars when he got knocked down? I watched the video and he looked pretty out of it to me.

lol…so you think Kimbo is awesome, huh???
by allamerican on Aug 23, 2009 4:58 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
Kimbo? I like him the more and more I see him get interviewed. He seems like a pretty humble guy to me…plus he has a bald head and a huge beard!

He will be back in the UFC. The UFC executives are smart and marketing a rematch between Kimbo and him is smart. It would give Kimbo a fight that he could win after TUF 10 and cash in that way, or, if Petruzelli wins the UFC has reason to cut Kimbo and we never hear from him again.
