It’s true and Mania like better giving us a thread of pictures from f’n Sherdog and a thread of shogun with a video that doesn’t work instead of reporting that and other news like Belfort doesn’t want to fight the spider.

it helps blood flow, due to being hydrotherapeutic which helps recovery after a hard training or due to injuries and also helps prevent blood pooling and muscle sore-ness(stiffness)!

by Randy for Couture on Aug 22, 2009 12:58 PM EDT up reply actions

Sorry, I have to call BS on that.

While I am not a physiologist, I am an MD (albeit not one involved in sports medicine). I would think it has more to do with suppression of inflammation following high intensity training, delayed onset muscle soreness etc. I think someone like Dr. Benjamin could speak to this issue with more insight.

“hydrotherapeutic”? – you just made that word up.
“blood pooling”? – not at all appropriate in this context and I don’t know how cold would have any influence on this either way.

Throwing around “sciency” sounding words that make no sense make you look a little silly, imo.

by mark krasny on Aug 22, 2009 3:46 PM EDT up reply actions

Wel im in university studying physiotherapy and i can tell you that hydrotherapeutic IS a word! u mentioned delayed onset of muscle soreness which i said – “muscle soreness” and yes it does help prevent blood pooling because new blood is being pushed around the body therefore it doesnt stay in one area causing soreness!

so get your facts right before you try and call me out!

by Randy for Couture on Aug 22, 2009 4:59 PM EDT up reply actions

Ice bath is common in all sports guy’s it’s nothing new a lot of football players do it after every practice.

Taking an after exercise plunge in an ice water bath (a tub of 12 to 15 degrees Celsius ice water) is a common practice among many elite athletes as a way to recover faster, and reduce muscle pain and soreness after intense training sessions or competitions. From elite runners like Paula Radcliff to nearly all professional rugby players, the ice bath is a standard practice routine.

by KOrwin on Aug 22, 2009 5:12 PM EDT up reply actions

This is absolutely true KOrwin, (aka the guy with many names). :)

by Alpha Male on Aug 22, 2009 7:11 PM EDT up reply actions

you clearly havent a good physical health vocabulary Mark if you have never heard of the word -hydrotherapeutic.
Im a student of physiotherapy so i know my stuff. i already mentioned muscle soreness (DOMS) and for your information ice baths DO help prevent blood pooling as new blood is delivered therfore blood cannot stay in the 1 place causing soreness.!

so get ur facts right before you try call me out again!

nog by sub after he dominates randy standing

by Jared on Aug 22, 2009 3:44 PM EDT up reply actions

Truth!

by NameNotRequired on Aug 22, 2009 3:56 PM EDT up reply actions

Nog by sub, yes. Dominates Randy in the standup, no. Randy is too smart and will pin Nog against the fence and dirty box.

by chefdaddy on Aug 22, 2009 6:58 PM EDT up reply actions

It’s not really hard to know this, chef. Captain paycheck always got the same game plan and Nog is well aware of it. His trainer said it… their game plan is to stay away from the fence.

“We think that Couture will fight standing against him, and Rodrigo thinks that too. Rodrigo is 100% prepared standing. I always said that this fight were good to Rodrigo, because Couture has no punch to knock him out, and Rodrigo boxes better than him… Rodrigo is prepared in the ground too and will work to submit, because Rodrigo has everything to submit him", explained the coach. "Our strategy is stay away from the fence".

by Alpha Male on Aug 22, 2009 7:05 PM EDT up reply actions

I know AM, but it was apparent that the other two had no idea. I can’t remember Randy EVER having a different gameplan.

by chefdaddy on Aug 23, 2009 10:15 AM EDT up reply actions

I hope you are joking…

by Jared on Aug 22, 2009 7:51 PM EDT up reply actions

Jared are you drunk? Nog couldn’t dominate Damien Maia at stand-up. Have you seen a Nog fight this decade?

by Carnage on Aug 22, 2009 12:26 PM EDT reply actions

I hope Big Nog brings it.

This could be an epic battle.

I know Randy will arrive in good shape. I can’t forget the way Nog looked against Mir. Old, slow, and out of shape.

by DubNub on Aug 22, 2009 12:26 PM EDT reply actions

old slow and now his balls have shrunk into obscurity.

by Carnage on Aug 22, 2009 12:27 PM EDT reply actions

Well as relevant as this fight is in the UFC heavyweight division here’s an example to the Fedor haters as to why he IS the top guy and doesn’t just fight “cans” -

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JQ0MQbu3ofM&feature=rec-HM-rn

It’s a bitch that he/his team are so reluctant to join the UFC but I don’t think he’s scared, just doesn’t want to sell his whole organisation out. Probably will never see Fedor/Lesnar unless Lesnar leaves the UFC, shame :(

by Jimrod on Aug 22, 2009 1:35 PM EDT reply actions

You snuck Fedor into a Nog bath thread, wow. No one cares about Fedor, dude.

by jay on Aug 22, 2009 8:26 PM EDT up reply actions

I bet Nog cares about Fedor.

by introvert on Aug 22, 2009 9:02 PM EDT up reply actions

Nog was begging for those takedowns! He wanted it to go to the ground dude, that was his only chance at winning!

by allamerican on Aug 23, 2009 11:06 AM EDT up reply actions

This “ice soak” is just a tactic to prevent severe pain from illegal low blows. If the nuggets go into hibernation, you can’t hit them!

by Dana's a CrossDresser on Aug 22, 2009 3:53 PM EDT reply actions

LOL!!! That one might have just landed you the 1st place slot for the funniest post on this thread!
