UFC 106: Shane Carwin explains his 'hate' for Brock Lesnar ...

... to SI.com, and it's all about RESPECT (or lack thereof):

"I think hate is a strong word, but yeah, I hate what he did after UFC 100. I hate that he disrespected the greatest sporting fans in the world and I can't wait to fight him. ... Really it comes down to respect and I do not think that he respects the sport or the fans of this sport. He may be well known, but fame does not equal respect."

Will Lesnar find out what it means to Carwin at UFC 106 on Nov. 21 or will it be the other way around ... predictions, Maniacs?

Carwin is speaking nothing but the truth!!!

Dana is gonna be pissed. Now how is he gonna create some fake hype without any animosity between these two?

by NameNotRequired on Aug 22, 2009 3:55 PM EDT up reply actions

Carwin bit off more than he can chew here and honestly, Brock’s antics, as ridiculous as they were seem somewhat reasonable. Everyone booed him before and after the fight and hate on him because he came from wwe. Fact is he is an awesome athlete and will continue to be a dominant champ. Personally, I can’t hate the guy and like watching him pound the sh!t out of people antics or not.

by The Dude on Aug 22, 2009 4:04 PM EDT up reply actions

Carwin is going to really hate after Brock knocks him out and farts on his head.

by PW on Aug 22, 2009 4:05 PM EDT up reply actions

LOL, PW. Again Carwin trying to play the comic book hero. You have to show respect to get respect. And those “fans” showed Brock no respect. So what do people expect? Brock will SMASH him for his blasphemy!

by JV on Aug 22, 2009 4:22 PM EDT up reply actions

Carwin keeps playing to fans:

“greatest fans in the world”

It is funny how he is so quick to judge.

Let him who is without sin throw the first stone.

Carwin never said he hates Brock. Dana is putting words in his mouth to sell the fight.

Soon as Carwin takes down Brock, the UFC will be full of respectful deserving champions. Machida, A. Silva, GSP…okay, maybe not BJ, but we’re working on that one. ;)

by UFC Champ on Aug 22, 2009 4:35 PM EDT up reply actions

When the medias published things like this to promote the fight… you got to know something is very wrong.

"[T]alking trash about your boss’s business partners is just ridiculous. I live in Colorado, the home of Coors, and me and my friends drink Bud Light. Can he really even like Coors? Or is he saying if you pay him enough money he will drink anything?"

-Carwin

by dandeman on Aug 22, 2009 4:58 PM EDT up reply actions

Even if Carwin loses, he wins. Brock is a douche. No matter how many people he beats to a pulp, he’s still a douche.

Technically, it scares me that Carwin ended up on his back against Gonzaga. Cawin has inferior wrestling and I’ve seen nothing to make me think his guard can neutralize Brock. He’s a rightful underdog.

However, I hope to hell he lands a big shot early and takes Brock out of his game.

Win or lose, I’m a Carwin fan. I could care less if Brock were to get hit by a bus. He truly does not respect the fans or the sport. His only redeeming quality is his work-ethic.

by Punch You in the Ovaries on Aug 22, 2009 6:08 PM EDT up reply actions

Punch, you have to give respect to deserve respect. The fans booed him from start to finish in that fight. I personally hope he acts worse than the last fight. Screw all you dudes who are booing him for no reason. He is gonna smash Carwin who deserves a shot at the title even less than Brock did. The only person I have seen mention that fact is JEREMY JACKSON. So Thank you Jeremy!

You put a fight on in Minnesota and the fans would be going crazy over his name and I’m sure in many other places just ask BJ Penn about the fans I’m sure he felt like giving them the finger after both his fight with GSP. Some fan’s are hypocrites it’s ok for them to say and do what they want as well as their fauvorite fighter but when some one they are envious over or just plain hate they make a big issue out of nothing and some even start cursing and name calling if they were only smart enough to see the irony of it all LOL.

by Beaver on Aug 22, 2009 8:06 PM EDT up reply actions

Plenty of fighters have been trashed talked by their opponent and booed by fans, but they didn’t act the way he did.

And again, my problem isn’t so much with the disrespect as the purely retarded manner in which he chose to display it. Huge man. Mental Midget.

Ultimately, I’m conceding he will probably win the fight, but I will never be a fan.

by Punch You in the Ovaries on Aug 22, 2009 9:45 PM EDT up reply actions

Jay, how do you figure Carwin deserves the title shot even less than Brock did? Currently Carwin has MORE MMA fights, and is STILL undefeated. Sorry? pardon me? oh yeah, Brock had 3 fights before his shot and was on a 1, count it, 1 fight winning streak.

If Carwin is so undeserving, then who is in the HW division? A quick scan….nobody else.

by UFC Champ on Aug 22, 2009 9:48 PM EDT up reply actions

UFC champ I agree wholeheartedly that Carwin is the best legit shot at the belt at this moment. But, all the people who were whining and saying that Brock didn’t deserve a title shot, are not saying anything about Shane. Brock got it for the very reason that it was obvious he was the best HW in the UFC, as he still is. Carwin is not going to beat Brock so I see no reason to break his nice winning streak. Why not have had Carwin build a sort of legend about him, before making him look like MURRR up in that picture up there? I like Shane and wanted more hype to this fight. Shayne is the same fighter as Brock, just one step slower. This isn’t going to help Shane at all and a fight with Cain would have. Now Brock is going to embarrass him way to early.

by jay on Aug 22, 2009 10:20 PM EDT up reply actions

Punch, agreed. I really put no stock in the fighters attitudes or post fight speeches though. If you don’t like how he behaves after a fight, get up and get a drink. No matter what B.J Penn says after a fight it makes me hate him more, so I leave. I would never boo him if he was competing at an event I was attending. I would silently pray for his demise, that’s all. That was a sad display by the fans at 100 and if you don’t understand where he was coming from don’t be a fan of his speeches but you have to appreciate his skills.

by jay on Aug 22, 2009 10:33 PM EDT up reply actions

Everyone justifies Brock’s actions by saying Mir talked a bunch of trash before the fight. Well so did Brock, so don’t act like he was a churchboy and finally just got goaded into after saying nothing. Plenty of fighters talk a bunch of smack before the fights about their opponents, but I’ve never seen someone act like such a classless prick as Brock did after that fight. Look at all that smack BJ talked about GSP before the fight. GSP stomped his ass out and that was that. There’s no need to act like a WWE jackass. Whatever though, Brock fans will attempt to justify however they can. I would respect them more if they just said, “Sure he’s a jackass, but I like him anyways.” At least that’s honest and isn’t trying to sugar coat anything.

by Diceman on Aug 22, 2009 11:40 PM EDT up reply actions

Tito Ortiz has the best post fight speeches, guys like Carwin disrespects the fans by being so boring and quiet Lesnar is the complete opposite what he does is for the fans, I know ppl don’t get it but that’s the way it is..

by RoBerto on Aug 23, 2009 12:41 AM EDT up reply actions

Jay about giving respect before you get respect….Brock said in his interview before the rematch with Mir he doesn’t give respect to anyone in the cage. It was his words. As far as I am concerned, Brock is the new man on campus, so is it not him who should be showing respect to the guys who have been doing this while he was F5ing people for a living? The fans boo him because since day 1 he has showed no proffesional or fan courtesy. He is still caught up in playing the villain. Also is it me or are the fans are the ones that pay his salary. As a fan, that is the ultimate sign of respect-purchasing a ticket for a live event, so jeers or cheers the fan should always be given some sort of respect.

by Da Monkey on Aug 23, 2009 8:16 AM EDT up reply actions

Ohhhhh now I get it RoB…Lesnar is using some sort of Jedi mind tricks. The fans only THINK he’s insulting them by flipping them off and acting like an idiot. In reality though, he does this as a TREAT for us. I get it now.

by Diceman on Aug 23, 2009 8:26 AM EDT up reply actions

I personally think the only thing really wrong and bad for MMA was the disrepecting of Bud Light. Fans want the fighters to act and behave a certain way such as GSP, but not all of them are as politically correct as him. Not to mention that it is kind of ironic how many people are offended by him flippin off the crowd but say nothing at all about the fans booing him. I found the crowd to be extremely disrespectful and was imbarrassed myself by them. If we as fans ask our fighters to behave a certain way shouldnt we expect the same out of ourselves?

As I stated above the only thing that really upset me was his risking a valuable mainstream sponsor for the sport I love, I was worried Dana would give him more than a verbal warning. His other antics of acting like an idiot and the whole wife thing, well that just shows he has little class and is not very intelligent. Confronting Mirr was bad sportmanship, but I think Mirr is a terrible sport. I am not a fan of Lesnars personality, but I simply do not listen to him talk. In the octagon I respect his game. He plays his strengths and negates his opponents. I actaully got up to get a beer when he started talking at 100 and had to go back and see what all the fuss was about.

I also wonder how much of what he said and did was self promotion. He has the entire world of MMA saying his name and thinking of him as the bad guy. Hell, Tito made a career out of that with half the talent. If there was a press release saying how good of friends Carwin and Lesnar were and pictures of them at each others family functions the casual fan might not tune in, but if they “hate” each other and one guy is the hero and the other the villain the casual fan is more likely to buy the PPV and hope that good prevail over evil.

by ASR on Aug 23, 2009 9:10 AM EDT up reply actions

No one is talking about the fact that this is a heavyweight title fight in the premier mma organization between 2 fighters with a combined total of 15 fights under their belts. good match up? Sure! But the way the UFC hands out title shots truly sickens me!

Everyone BASHES the thought of Fedor vs. Werdum, but Fact of the matter is that wERDUM DWARFS Carwin in terms of mma resume. Carwiin has DONE NOTHING in mma, except for beating Gonzaga. While WERDUM, DOMINATED GONZAGA twice! Werdum also has wins over current strikeforce champ, Alilstar Overeem, Brandon Vera, and Aleksander Emelienenko. with the exception of the Dos Santos fight (who is a young up and coming LION), Werdum has only lost to TOP competition. He lost to Arovski in a boring fight, but I give him a pass cause it was his UFC debut. He went to a decision with Nog in what was a really hard fought fight and a beautiful display of mma ground position and sweeps. His only other loss was to Sergei who when ON, is capable of beating just about anyone! Im not sure Carwin will EVER accomplish what Werdum has already accomplished in mma…yet its OK for Carwin to get a title shot agaiinst Brock, but everytime the thought of Werdum/fedor comes up, it gets BASHED! Get REAL!!!!

IMO, Grim has had a more impressive mma career then Carwin…but because Carwin is in the UFC and the UFC says he deserves a title shot…all of you are happy! Use your brains, and form oppinions for yourselves instead of taking Dana’s decisions and comments as MMA GOSPEL!!!

UFC hW division is still WEAK!

by john G on Aug 23, 2009 9:48 AM EDT up reply actions

UFC HW division weak john lol, what the hell does that make SF’s, they’ve only got 4 fighters and a champ who cant fight in America.

You’re only kissing SF’s ass coz your man crush Fedor’s gone there and you’re desperately attempting to big them up to justify his move. You just make yourself sound completely deluded.

by attakdog on Aug 23, 2009 10:16 AM EDT up reply actions

Look at what Werdum did while in UFC: had a pathetic Leites-esque showing against AA; boring decision win over a LHW; great win over GG; KTFO by Dos Santos. So he had one good outing in 4 UFC fights. Hence, he is no longer in the UFC and not eligible to challenge for the title there.

by PW on Aug 23, 2009 10:26 AM EDT up reply actions

Honestly if SF signed Butterbean tomorrow (actually not that unlikely) John would be straight on here with a 10,000 post on what an amazing addition to the roster he is, how he would destroy everyone of the UFC HW’s and how he’s a genuine contender for Fedor to take on. That’s how blinded he’s become.

by attakdog on Aug 23, 2009 10:39 AM EDT up reply actions

F*CK Bud Light, it’s not even an american brew anymore, i LOVE the fact that Brock dissed them!!! take their boos back to bulgaria. Coors light is the only huge american brewery left. tell me how on earth Brock owes ‘anything’ to the bud light brand??? did they pay for the birth of his child? did they buy him a car or a tractor? do they outfit him in shotguns and hunting equipment?? will someone with any FYI please tell me what in the hell brock lesnar owes bud light?? ANYONE!! PLEASE!! and none of this crap that they sponsor the company he fights for, what bud light does for the ufc is irrelevant to brock’s relationship with bud light. i’m sure as a fighter brock could care less about who’s name is on the canvas. ufc was just fine with mickey’s fine malt liquor as a sponsor

by deuce 4 on Aug 23, 2009 11:10 AM EDT up reply actions

difference is strikeforce is a small organization that still Needs to grow…the UFC is the top dog and owes it to the fans to have 5 STACKED divisions. RIGHT Now, the division is week…but the division has a bright future once the young lions like dos Santos, Carwin and Cain grow up (career wise)…

basically all I am trying to say is that:
Fedor vs. Werdum, Grim, or Alistar is as good a fight as any fight that the UFC could put together withh its current Heavyweight roster!

you guys love putting words in my mouth!

by john G on Aug 23, 2009 11:14 AM EDT up reply actions

Werdum was in UFC and got cut for sucking. Fedor refused to sign with UFC because he would rather pad his record with weak fighters. Overeem is shooting for the Guiness World Record for longest title reign without a title defense and can’t pass a drug test. Grim, while unproven, would be a great addition to the UFC. So Strikeforce has one good fighter, one good chicken-shit fighter and a pile of crap.

by PW on Aug 23, 2009 11:31 AM EDT up reply actions

Pretty good analysis their P-Dub.

If SF ever want to be anything other than a “small organization” john, it really needs to get its champs to defend their belts more frequently than every three years.

Cung Le’s a joke obviously, but Overeem can actually fight a bit, but I cant take him serious as a HW. The guy’s best win at HW is over the headhunter (barely top 20) and we all know he wouldn’t pass a drug test in the US. Overeem should be stripped of the title and have Grimm, Fedor, Werdum and one other, have a mini tournament to crown a new champ, generate a bit of hype that way. Same with the MW’s.

by attakdog on Aug 23, 2009 11:53 AM EDT up reply actions

Overeem deserve a bit more respect than that P-Dub. Grimm is a total overrated can but Carwin is not really better IMO. Strikeforce HW division is not better or worse than the UFC.

by Alpha Male on Aug 23, 2009 11:58 AM EDT up reply actions

Why does Overeem deserve more respect Alph. The guy was an average LHW, with a poor chin and poor stamina, who lost to anyone he fought who was any good. He’s now juiced up to HW, but will still have the same weak chin and almost certainly even worse cardio and speed. Who’s he managed to beat at HW, Buentello, Goodridge and Hunt?? Wow! If you ask me he gets miles too much respect! I just dont know why so many people ride the Overeem train, it’s just beyond me.

I disagree that Grimm is an over-rated can too, for all I know you might be correct. The fact is none of us really know how good he is, he needs another quality win so we can truely gauge where he’s at.

by attakdog on Aug 23, 2009 12:10 PM EDT up reply actions

I wasn’t making allusion to his record bro, but the roid accusation that comes with the reason of why he didn’t defend his belt in 2 years with Strikeforce. Peoples seem to forget that the reason was b/c he was fighting in Dream during that time. It’s stup!d to think that he was docking f’n Rogers who is a total can buddy, worst than Mir btw! You’ll realize it soon.

by Alpha Male on Aug 23, 2009 12:22 PM EDT up reply actions

yes Diceman, Lesnar did it for the fans! cause those same fans love the sport and will watch the fights regardless of what anyone says after the fight..
Lesnar doesn’t need all fans to like him, he just need fans to tune into his fights and i guarantee you that they will, and I personally enjoyed seeing Brock do his thing I don’t take things like that too seriously, It’s all show..

by RoBerto on Aug 23, 2009 12:22 PM EDT up reply actions

Point taken about overeem. Give Grimm some credit buddy, he cant be as bad as Murrrrrr lol. You’re probably right about rodgers, I certainly haven’t jumped on his hype wagon after one freak Ko of a chinny AA, he needs to prove himself against another top contender.

by attakdog on Aug 23, 2009 12:25 PM EDT up reply actions

lol, to be honest with ya, I don’t even know why he’s in the top 10 of the HW division. the guy got no footwork, a sloppy stand up, no ground game. What do you expecting him to do, against a guy like Fedor? Plus in his last fight AA wasn’t out at all. It was a quick knock down but he didn’t put AA to sleep like Fedor did, so I still suspect him on a tons of levels.

I hate his hair cut too. Mr T wannabe!

Attackdog – I completely agree.

Carwin saw an opening to promote himself as the hero to Lesnar’s villain and has gotten a title fight without proving he is truly the #1 contender out of it. All the while stating he is doing it for the fans blah blah blah.

I find a few things crazy about the whole thing.

1. He is close to Lesnar’s size and yet nobody questions this man about present or past steriod use as they do with Lesnar.
2. The only person he has beaten of any mention is GG, and besides the punch he looked sloppier than Lesnar ever has.
3. Carwin is an extremely smart man(degrees in engineering) and realizes that he is not getting any younger(34). He needs his time to come as quickly as possible. If he would not get his shot now it would be at probably 9 months before he would get his next and then he would be be closer to 36 than 35.

He is trying to get his while he can.

by ASR on Aug 23, 2009 1:44 PM EDT up reply actions

Carwin will get beat…bottomline. I don’t even like Brock but he is a better fighter than Carwin. Carwin has a lethal right hand and that’s it. If he doesn’t land it he will get dominated. His stand up is not that great nor is Brock’s. But brock is more athletic and well rounded.

Holy crap, this fight is months away and already the hype is in full swing. The UFC made a big mistake cancelling the Carwin/Velasquez fight. Carwin would have won impressively and it would have given them a chance to give the average fan a good look at him.

As it stands now he is not a well-known fighter, and PPV sales for this fight will be huge as it stands, I’m sure, but they could have been even bigger.

by Jeremyjackson on Aug 22, 2009 3:45 PM EDT up reply actions

Yeah but JJ, if Carwin doesn’t pull this off, the UFC has another possibly still undefeated contender waiting. So it makes business sense, back up plan if you will.

by UFC Champ on Aug 22, 2009 4:38 PM EDT up reply actions

Yaeh, but I don’t want to see Cain get a shot on virtue of a relatively unimpressive victory over Kongo and a win over Rothwell. I think Cain is way too small to give Brock problems, especially considering the fact that he’s a pretty sloppy striker. Lesnar/Velasquez is not a title fight I would be particularly interested in seeing.

I wanted a legit PROVEN #1 contender, and that’s what Carwin would have been, while at the same time moving Cain back a notch, which is where he belongs IMO. But I’ve bitched enough about this. I’m stoked for this fight.

by Jeremyjackson on Aug 22, 2009 4:53 PM EDT up reply actions

I tend to agree. by not having the that fight, the UFC will have another legitimate contender for the HW belt. Rather than have a situation in that weight class like in WW division where, say, Mike Swick might have a chance at a title fight.

by chefdaddy on Aug 22, 2009 9:16 PM EDT up reply actions

JJ – we’ve already discussed this the other day but answer me this outta curiousity…Cain beats Rothwell, NOG beats Randy, Dos Santos beats CC…who gets the next shot?

by McArthur on Aug 23, 2009 8:05 AM EDT up reply actions

I would think Cain. He was set to face Carwin in a No. 1 contender fight, so if he stays undefeated he’ll probably get the next shot. Nog and Randy are both coming off losses, so it would be harder to justify giving either of them a title shot for one win, especially Randy since he already lost to Brock. But just based on past accomplishments I wouldn’t be surprised if the winner there gets a crack at Lesnar. Dos Santos needs to destroy Cro Cop, then destroy at least one other opponent. Nobody knows who he is right now.

by PW on Aug 23, 2009 10:02 AM EDT up reply actions

JJ, the UFC has a chess match brewing. This is probably related to a couple other possible matches down the line, whichever way it goes. They way the UFC works, I have no doubt that they’ve already got their ideas on winner/loser matches either way after this fight.

carwin may not be the next UFC heavy weight champ, but i hope someone can finally shut up brock. he doesnt deserve to be where he is. the UFC started off for the fighters and fans and now dana is making it clear its all about money. brock didnt have to start at the bottom like everyone else, just because he talked shit on public tv and acted like he was wrestling in a fake sport he got to bypass some great fighters that would have shown brock what the UFC is really about. and by the way shit talkers BROCK would have got his ASS kicked by MIR before his wreck and he is not 100% and Randy is great but that was the wrong match. where is the Pitbull when you need him…

Mir already had a win over Brock, he just finished demolishing Nog and had the interim championship. Yeah, he probably wasn’t 100% in their second fight.

i literally loved every minute of brock vs. mir at ufc 100, postfight antics included. mir is nothing but a cocky shit talking punk. mir deserved everything he got that night, if not more. how can people not see where brock was coming from for his post fight jawing of frank. with all the shit mir talked he probly had brock believing it was gonna be a knock down drag out, n i bet brock felt so unsatisfied that mir didn’t even put up much of a fight. any fans that had a problem with what brock did after the fight have some issues of their own, chip on the shoulder type insecurities i figure. did mir think after all the shit he talked brock was just gonna stop after a dominan ass beating? did he think that was the end of it? after the stuff frank said, 100 ass whippings may not be enough to fully satisfy brock, especially when the man talking shit can’t even put up a better fight than a jr. high child! frank learned, the fans learned, now carwin will learn something i’m sure his granddaddy told him, “boy, u let sleeping dogs lie”

I like Carwin alot, however Lesnar doesnt need or care what he thinks about respect. It has been obvious from the start he was going to have to take it for himself. I think he is going to keep training hard and will eventually earn our respect by domintating fights. I garuantee if Lesnar wins this fight he is more humble then UFC 100—Dana will make sure of that

I disagree somewhat Lumberg, Dana lets fighter’s be who they are and he’s not exactly a roll model either, however, even Dana has his limits. Brock will probably tone it down a few notches’ not insult UFC Sponsers and probably not his wife… but he’ll always be a d*ckhead.

I like Carwin, too! I think Lesnar(OBVIOUSLY) was on an emotional high and reverted back to his pro wrestling days just out of habit after smashing Mir. No problem for me. I didn’t feel disrespected at all! But, to each his own! I can’t stand Pro Wrestling. But, again, I think that was Brock’s extensive experience from the past, catching up with his inexperience in the cage. I believe he learned from that mistake and won’t make it again. That said, I still have Lesnar winning by Ref stoppage in the second.

Carwin has yet to make it past RD 1, nor has he been in a huge fight, let alone a title fight. This has disaster written all over it. As long as Carwin can keepit standing we will have a new champion I just hope he can defend Brock’s takedown on the ground Brock is already one of the most dangerous if not the most dangerous if anyone can stop Brock from taking them down it’s Carwin who is a pretty big boy himself and has the wrestling back ground. Carwin with out a doubt has the most powerfull strike in MMA and if landed he will be the new champion!!

by KOrwin on Aug 22, 2009 4:42 PM EDT up reply actions

One thing you keep on forgetting KO is we all know Brock has the least experience even from his first fight he was able to dominate his opponent his biggest weakness is his lack of MMA experience but because he such a hard trainer he gains more knowlege each fight and is a better fighter every day that goes by and he already rated the #2 HW in the world (USA Today SB Nation & Bloody Elbow) and champion of the UFC and he’s only going to get better with skill there is no doubt he has the most potential and what’s even scary is most fans and experts believe he is the#2 in the world some even believe he’s #1 and not being close to his potential yet!! All Brock haters who are already envious have seen nothing yet trust me KO and I will take your money too bud LOL.

Brock Lesnar is a douchebag plan and simple. I wanted to be a fan of his and respect him but he never did or said the right things other than giving Couture some respect. He didn’t give Herring any respect. He is a monster and is very agile and quick for a guy his size. I hope to see him and Couture fight again if Carwin doesn’t beat him.

by Anderson Silva on Aug 22, 2009 5:10 PM EDT reply actions

Mir and Herring both trashed Lesnar for just being big and strong but unskilled, made cracks about how this is “real” fighting and not scripted. They showed him no respect whatsoever, which is exactly what they got in return. Now Carwin just did the same thing, so don’t be surprised when Lesnar kicks his ass and mocks his unconscious body in the cage.

Who cares – that’s between him and his wife. This doesn’t even register on the scale of crap that kids come across on a daily basis. What’s the big deal.

Brock gets in Mir’s face after the fight
Mir was the one that jumped up after his TKO and came toward Brock and had to be held back. Brock just responded to this, check the tape.

Brock flips off the crowd
What about Nick Diaz flipping the other corner off when he had someone in a triangle choke. No one cared about this.

None of these things have real world consequences except to Brock’s own public image.

Some people say he’s bad for the sport. He’s one fighter in a roster of I don’t know 100 or so. Are you worried that he’s going to bring down the UFC will a few antics? Please.

For comparison:
BJ Penn slugs a police officer in the face
(pleads no contest),

BJ chokes out Pulver way past him tapping and admits to doing it on purpose.
(the same thing Babalu got banned for)

BJ is arrogant and disrespectful
But he does it in a cool kind of way (in some people’s opinion) so it’s ok

Guys have failed drug tests all the time…caught red-handed cheating

So where’s Shane “the moral compass” Carwin on issues that have real world consequences? I used to like him, now I think he’s a queef. It’s the in thing to hate on Brock right now and Carwin’s hamming it up. That’s ok, Mr. Morality can jump in with the rest of the wolves for now but he’s going to get more canned ham than he can handle when he fights Brock. Stuff his self rightous face Brock!!!

Yeah- I totally see what you mean. BJ Penn is a total jackass in his prefight interviews. He talks a lot a crap before a fight. But after he wins, he’s a total gentleman. I remember after he beat Pulver he immediately hugged him and told Pulver he could train with him anytime. After he beat Sherk he hugged him and apologized for his pre fight antics and told Sherk to his face that he was just trying to promote the fight. After he beat Kenflo, he helped him up and hugged him. Bj has never done anything like what Brock did to Herring or Mir- taunting both of them after he’d already won.

Gonzaga has heavy hands, he rocked Cro Cop with his hands before the big head kick. Brock has been hurt a few times. Randy hurt him and Mir hurt him on the feet. You could visibly see he did not like being hit and was hurt and immediatly went to the ground. If Carwin catchs him, as well as anyone else it is pretty much lights out. That wouldn’t be taking anything away from Brock, some guys just have that kind of KO power. CArwin is putting big guys to sleep. If he is going to beat Brock it is going to come with a big punch early in the fight!

by Da Monkey on Aug 23, 2009 9:12 AM EDT up reply actions

Nobody has tested Brocks chin yet. Carwin is brutle. He has dropped people a few times with one punch.

If Brock mounts him, can Carwin get up? He has shown this in the past. Brock loves to mount and gnp. If he can nullify that, Lesnar could have a fight on his hands.

I think if Carwin keeps it standing, he could win. He is training with Couture so maybe that is their plan.

how many times has brock been knocked out…since he cant take a punch?

by joe daddy on Aug 22, 2009 7:07 PM EDT up reply actions

Joe it’s just a UFC hater talking crap there is no truth to his story what so ever anyone that takes a direct hit will see flashes ask any fighter that has been hit by a direct shot including IamD"s.. poster boy Fedor who has been dazed a few times but more than able to keep on fighting. FYI getting tagged with the “no chin” title you would need to get KO at least three times. Like I said UFC haters are very foolish MMA fans.

by Beaver on Aug 22, 2009 7:19 PM EDT up reply actions

That’s what everyone said about Tim Silvia, until Fedor dropped him and finished him off with whatever he wanted to finish him off with.

Seems to me Randy couldn’t finish him.

Her’s USA Today and Bloody Elbows Rankings and by the way Carwin is ranked higher than Rogers
1 Fedor Emelianenko 100 M-1 Global 1
2 Brock Lesnar 94 UFC 5
3 Josh Barnett 92 ??? 2
4 Frank Mir 86 UFC 3
5 Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira 83 UFC 4
6 Randy Couture 79 UFC 6
7 Shane Carwin 64 UFC 7
8 Brett Rogers 63 Strikeforce 8
9 Andrei Arlovski 58 Strikeforce 9
10 Alistair Overeem 56 Strikeforce 10

by Beaver on Aug 22, 2009 7:10 PM EDT up reply actions

Mir, Nog and Arlovski are going to drop out of this list very soon.

by jay on Aug 22, 2009 8:04 PM EDT up reply actions

If Mir and AA lose they will drop Mir still might hold in depending on how he lost NOg losing to the 6th ranked would just cause them to swap rankings I believe.

by Beaver on Aug 22, 2009 8:12 PM EDT up reply actions

Not fair still. How can someone who is seconds away from losing to Silvia and HH be number 5? Are these rankings only based on W/L? Sure Nog wins but damn. Don’t forget Carwin and Rogers should both move up with impressive fights, so Nog could conceivably move down to 8.

by jay on Aug 22, 2009 8:15 PM EDT up reply actions

AA has been knocked cold out in his last two fights, the last one in 22 seconds. Are there really not 10 HWs in the world better than him right now?

by PW on Aug 22, 2009 9:07 PM EDT up reply actions

I’d pick Kongo to beat AA but still wouldn’t have him in the top ten…AA is a tough guy to figure out…looked great against Fedor until he got silly and the Rogers fight was just unexpected

by McArthur on Aug 22, 2009 9:25 PM EDT up reply actions

These rankings look as much like a career achievement award or a nod to reputation as a real top 10. The rankings should reflect the 10 best HWs in the world RIGHT NOW. Notre Dame doesn’t get to be in the college football top 10 just because they won a bunch of national titles in the past.

by PW on Aug 22, 2009 10:39 PM EDT up reply actions

very true

by McArthur on Aug 23, 2009 7:38 AM EDT up reply actions

lol ranked 7 & 8.

Considering rankings are pretty much all over the place, the difference between 7 & 8 is literally splitting hairs.

by introvert on Aug 22, 2009 9:10 PM EDT up reply actions

I don’t understand the last line. You are saying only Fedor can beat Brock, yet you also say Brock can’t take a punch? If he can’t take a punch(evidence?) Why can only Fedor beat him?

by jay on Aug 22, 2009 8:18 PM EDT up reply actions

well, now i don’t know if i hate brock more or carwin.
Carwin talk to much, he wants a lot of PR.

i hope carwin will get knocked the fu*k out

ZERO CLASS WHATSHWHOEVER

by mmafan on Aug 22, 2009 8:23 PM EDT reply actions

Lesnar is an amazing talent but in two fights (against Mir and Herring) he tried to riddicule his opponents after he’d already won. Totally class less. That’s just one of the reasons that Dana laid into him after the fight.

by Kdog on Aug 22, 2009 8:45 PM EDT reply actions

How is that any worse than Herring and Mir ridiculing Lesnar up until he cloobbered them?

You are right, even in interviews after that flurry of strike from Mir (beginning of 2nd round) Brock said he was seeing stars.

by kibbled_bits on Aug 22, 2009 9:23 PM EDT up reply actions

Should they change the ruling and just call it a tie? How come a month and a half ago, you same people were saying that Murr’s stand up had improved? Now even Murr with his broken stand up game is rocking Brock and it’s a big deal? How is Nog ever going to win a fight again if getting rocked means you lost?

by jay on Aug 22, 2009 10:48 PM EDT up reply actions

lol @ DirtyML

by McArthur on Aug 23, 2009 7:50 AM EDT up reply actions

being a classless prick has nothing to do with being able to fight. So what does Brock thinks he’s proved by laying on top of Mir for 2 rounds & hammering him in the face? Mir’s strategy was flawed, he made no effort to get to his feet.

So Brock smashes his faces and says screw you to just about everyone. It just proves the point, the white-trash piece of shit missed the point and proved everyone in the stadium right when they were booing him.

by kibbled_bits on Aug 22, 2009 9:21 PM EDT reply actions

fuck shane carwin that dude is a nobody lesnar will destroy that chump. Gonzaga had carwin beat until he got lucky with that punch

Boo F’n Hoo about how Lesnar acted after his match against Mir.

I hope after Lesnar beats Carwin, he goes into seating area and beats the crap out of the fans booing him.

by Mr Niceguy on Aug 22, 2009 10:36 PM EDT reply actions

And then he goes on a total Rampage and runs out of the stadium and hops into and drives his giant truck into the side of a pregnant woman’s car and kills the fetus. Crap, that one’s already been done.

ALL YOU BROCK HATERS FORGET HE WAS AN ALL-AMERICAN ATHLETE BEFORE HE WAS PART OF WWE.. AND WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH HIS SO CALLED “ANTICS”? IT SHOWS EMOTION AND WILL DO MORE FOR THE UFC THAN ANY OTHER FIGHTER..

by JD on Aug 22, 2009 11:16 PM EDT reply actions

brock is just a big punk, the only thing he’s got going for him is size, it don’t matter how fast you are if you don’t know how to time punches. You see what happen to brock when he tried to stand with mir, he just about got knocked out! A champion can win fights in many different ways not just take you down and hammer fist! I bet I know what his game plan will be next fight, it involves hammer fist and more hammer fist. I hope carwin knocks brock out, brock is a boring fighter who doesn’t deserve to wear the belt.

by brock sucks on Aug 22, 2009 11:19 PM EDT reply actions

I love how people kid themselves. I was unaware that in order to be a UFC champ you needed to win in different ways. GSP won by wrestling last fight so no wrestling your next fight you need to show you can do other things. Same thing for you A. Silva – you are not allowed to KO anyone with your hands. You either need to do it with kicks or BJJ.

Dude your letting your dislike for a person make you sound foolish. I saw a lot of good technique by Lesnar to negate Mirr’s half guard. If you need it explained for you go to this link:

He was an NCAA division I national wrestling champ. Hughes, Couture, Henderson all used wrestling as a base to become champs. SO has he, he has just a litlle skill I think.

Respect isn’t given unless it is shown…I think B.J showed huge respect to Kenny’s corner, fans, and sports guys that under estimated him and his work ethic. The whole time leading up to it he was getting criticized. He had every “right” to do what Lessner did. He didn’t He kept it cool and took the victory. I think Lessner will get the WWE antics worked out of him. Every fighter has to experience a lose. It was good for BJ’s career to loose GSP II. It was good for Lessner to flip off the fans and go through the crap he did after that. It is all teaching. It is valuable. I think Lessner will learn from that.

by Doug on Aug 22, 2009 11:20 PM EDT reply actions

One person who rarely gets cheered when walking into a fight is Anderson Silva…there are always more people booing him than not. And you know what I have never seen him be an asshole to the fans or his opponent and if anyone should be a complete dick to both fans and fighters it is Anderson Silva. The guy is arguably the best in the world, he is a force of nature and a lot of people still don’t respect him but he never acts like Brock does.

It’s one thing to do it before a fight but after, come on grow you piece of shit, Brock isn’t a good a fighter as a lot of people think. Great wrestler…not a great fighter.

by Bitch Please on Aug 23, 2009 3:18 AM EDT reply actions

good point!

by Dave on Aug 23, 2009 7:49 AM EDT up reply actions

The only time I’ve seen A. Silva booed was when he came out to fight Forrest, and that shouldn’t even count because A) fans were blaming Silva, right or wrong, for two lackluster fights against weak opponents and B) it was in Philadelphia where they boo everything and everyone. He was lucky not to get a D-cell battery upside the head.

by PW on Aug 23, 2009 10:13 AM EDT up reply actions

Maybe you need to watch his other UFC fights again, because it happens a lot, and it didn’t start with those two ‘lackluster’ fights.

Shane i hope you can run bro cause the big man is on the way. Even Fedor ran from Brock. When he ran to strikeforce cause he didnt want to fight any real fighters. GL

by mak on Aug 23, 2009 7:24 AM EDT reply actions

Well, hopefully his hate for Brock’s actions will at least give him some more motivation to make it a good fight. I don’t really care about Brock’s post-UFC 100 antics though. If anything, I’ve seen worse, like Hendo ‘joking’ that he knew Bisping was already out and threw that last punch just to shut him up. I don’t care about Brock flipping off a booing crowd or dissing the sponsors either. All I care about is if the fighter brings it in the cage, and Brock has done that.

by Jase on Aug 23, 2009 8:23 AM EDT reply actions

My prediction is another win for lesnar. Watch the gonzaga fight again, carwin has like zero head movement and gonzaga hit him clean a few times and was able to take him down fairly easily. Now if Carwin doesnt improve on avoiding strikes and TD defense, i just dont see it happening. He cant make those mistakes with brock. If brock hits him clean hes in trouble. If brock gets on top of him hes in trouble. Carwin did get up well using the cage though. I am a huge carwin fan and i hope he wins it by devastating KO and brock is so mentally f""ked up from it he loses every fight via KO. But my money would be on Brock if i had to bet.

by ASR on Aug 23, 2009 2:13 PM EDT reply actions

Carwin just wants attention for a big fight. Brock is imo the better wrestler, better striker, more explosive and probably physicaly the stronger of the two. I dont see anyone in the hw division beating Brock. Maybe fedor might be a good fight but even then I wouldn’t bet against him. I say let Anderson Silva fight Brock Lesnar!!

by truestory on Aug 23, 2009 6:34 PM EDT reply actions

Some people just dont wanna see the facts.

The only people who lesnar talked crap too after the fight were the people who totally trash talked him before the fight. And only because hes from the WWE and they are jaleous because he accomplished so much in such little time unlike themselves.

Against Couture there was no trash talking cause they respect each other. Just saying that if someone totally bashes someone and then gets beaten badly by that person you can expect the ball back. If ppl dont seem to understand this then thats just plain stupid.

by Steven on Aug 23, 2009 6:41 PM EDT reply actions

So true. Some people cant except the fact that fighters talk smack BEFORE fights to promote it and too get under their opponents skin. After the fight, most times mutual respect is shown and both fighters congratulate each other. Real fans like that.
