Nate Diaz vs. Melvin "The Young Assassin" Guillard (155-pound limit)

Round one: Guillard comes out and lands a big right off the bat and drops Diaz. Guillard refuses to go to the ground. Knee to the body from Guillard. Right hook from Diaz. Round two: Diaz's cut looks bad. Great body kick from Guillard. Diaz being very defensive looking to avoid anymore major damage. Guillard again with another hip toss which puts Diaz on his back. Guillard lets him right up. Diaz with a good jab. Nice body shot then left hook from Guillard. Diaz with a great one two combo. Guillard now with a double leg take down. Diaz now locks in a guillotine deep and thats it!!! Guillard taps. Guillard was dominating the entire fight but in typical Nick Diaz fashion he gets beat up until he locks in an amazing submission and locks it down with flair. Great fight while it lasted.

Huerta holding onto a single leg. Huerta to his feet but Maynard has his back and drops to a double leg and gets another take down. Good hammer fists from Maynard now. Maynard is bleeding from the nose. Maynard still on top as Huerta trying to scramble. Deep Kimura from Gray Maynard and its in REALLY deep!! Huerta now reverses position and is on top now after having his arm almost wrenched out of the socket. Maynard gets Huerta back down to the mat with 30 seconds left. Huerta to his feet and he lands a knee and a left. Maynard with some dirty boxing uppercuts. Thats the bell, Gray Maynard once again controlled that round and should come away with the Unanimous decision.

Nice body kick from Condit and Ellenberger lands a HUGE right and then charges with another BIG right and Condit drops to the mat and hes hurt bad!!! Darsch choke attempt from Ellenberger and Condit escapes jumps to his feet and lands a HUGE knee!!! Ellenberger lands another vicious right and is pounding away on Condit whos in a fetal position!!!! Hes doing serious damage on the feet. Condit misses with a knee. Nice body shot from Condit. Thats the bell, amazing round of action 10-9 Ellenberger whos showing ridiculous raw power a KO seems probable unless Condit keeps this on the ground.

Round two: Ellenberger misses a big right. Head kick from Condit misses. Ellenberger with a sharp double leg that takes Condit right to the mat. Condit back to his feet. WOW big head kick from Ellenberger. Knee from Ellenberger but Condit gets the take down. Ellenberger locks in a tight guillotine though but Condit jumps to half guard and slips out. Ellenberger looks gassed he needs to get to the feet. Condit postures up and lands a right and Ellenberger tries to get to his feet but Condit stuffs him and is now landing some blows. Condit now has the back and has one hook and is pounding away on Ellenberger, but Ellenberger slips out!! Ellenberger now on top in dominant position and in Condits full guard. Now their back to the feet. Ellenberger with a single leg and it was a lazy shot hes definitely gassed out. Condit now takes the back and hes pounding away and has his hooks in. Condit flattens out Ellenberger and is going for the choke, and thats the bell. Condit seems to have pulled this one out despite being physically dominated on the feet in round 1 and he looked out cold while in the fetal position twice. Credit to Condit who took the fight to the ground the last 2 rounds in what should be his 1st Octagon win.

Final result: Carlos Condit defeats Jake Ellenberger via Split Decision

Nate posturing up trying to land another big blow but Credeur being really defensive from full guard and is not opening himself up to more damage. Quarry throwing a bunch of punches from the top but hes not landing anything. Credeur is looking for a submission opening. Two nice elbows from Nate. Nice elbow from Nate and Credeur just trying to tie him up. Full guard for Tim Credeur still and not much else going on. Couple nice hammer fists from Credeur. Round three: Leg kick from Quarry. Lazy body shot from Quarry. Credeur is unloading again with a major barrage of punches!!! Quarry looks hurt, but AGAIN Quarry throws a bomb of a right hand out of nowhere that drops Credeur to his back!!!!! WOW!!! Credeur now trying to tie it up. Mania, i hate that you make these event threads a month prior to the actual event, especially when there tons of events scheduled to happen before this one…but looking at these match ups, there are a lot of really easy fights to bet on. i expect to make some good money on this event.

A fight that I would have really liked to see is Huerta vs. Melvin Guillard! That fight would be bad ass!

by john G on Aug 15, 2009 1:41 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Well, Melvin beat his @ss the first time they fought and did it with a broken hand, but Huerta got it changed to NC due to greasing i think. Anyways, guillard has been after that fight ever since.

by NameNotRequired on Aug 15, 2009 2:32 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

It wasn’t grease, it was residue from his crack pipe.

by PW on Aug 15, 2009 3:40 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

nnr: I know that, but that fight wouldnt be half what it could be if they banged it out today!

by john G on Aug 15, 2009 9:27 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Roger Huerta is a beast!! I hope he leaves the UFC now, it’s not worth getting busted up for the money he makes..

Gray was boring as usual btw!

by RoBerto on Sep 16, 2009 9:44 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

ARE U FOCKING KIDDING ME!? 30-27 MY A$$! embarrassing again… 29-28 Maynard would have been correct since the first round clearly went Roger’s way

I bet Dana bribeb them and told them if it’s close give it to Gray.. Same thing he did when Rampage fought Forrest

LOL, nice of Melvin to give away the win.. He’s too talented for his own good

Huerta has a huge growth on his side…Oh..that’s his tire!

Thats a good card. Those two fights will be very interesting. Im happy to see Diaz fighting Guillard, thats a great fight and could go either way. Both guys come to fight.

im excited to see dan miller fight. i see him ruining cb’s night pretty badly. and cantwell stann on the undercard?

by an 8yr old boy on Aug 15, 2009 1:07 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

I hope Roger Huerta wins. He is one of my favorite fighters because hes had some of the most exciting fights I’ve seen. I’m sure Dana aint happy with him though.
WAR EL MATADOR!!!!!!!!

by LilWayneIsTheBestRapperLive on Aug 15, 2009 1:30 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

War el matador!! the person that wants gray maynard to win has some serious issues..

by RoBerto on Aug 15, 2009 9:18 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

This card seems pretty good. Only guys I don’t know are the last fight on the card. Everyone else has some name recognition. Sad to see cantwell/Stann 3 on the undercard though. Hopefully stann has evolved some since they last fought. I think Huerta will have problems with maynards wrestling but if it turns into a boxing match he may have a shot, but if Grey wins then it should be Maynard/Edgar rematch for #1 contender after Diego. Anyone else think so?

by Wingblade on Aug 15, 2009 1:44 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Lay ’n Gray is going to hump his way to a win unless Huerta lands that knee to his dome like he did to Huggie Bear.

by PW on Aug 15, 2009 3:42 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Come on, you guys gotta give Maynard some credit now, he basically traded leather for 2 rounds then took it to the ground in the 3rd and damn near ripped Huerta’s arm off. Give the guy some props already.

by O damn he got caught on Sep 16, 2009 9:51 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Agreed O’damn. I can’t believe the guy didn’t tap. Huerta has a lot of heart but Gray stood for two complete rounds so hopefully some Gray pride bashers will chillax.

by halljam2 on Sep 16, 2009 10:01 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

why? because he stood? he didn’t do anything, it was obvious that Roger was the better fighter with more heart for fighting.. he’s too ugly to root for, I won’t ever like a guy like that he is boring no matter what he does

by RoBerto on Sep 16, 2009 10:06 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

lol, I was even saying that before the fight; if Maynard went out threw down and got into an all out stand up war for 3 rds then KO’d Huerta ppl would still hate on him. Like you said Rob doesn’t matter what he does.

I gave rd 1 to Huerta, rd 2 either way, rd 3 Maynard; and was entertained by the fight, nothing bad to say about Gray on this one.

by O damn he got caught on Sep 16, 2009 10:47 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

yeah, we saw it the same then..

by RoBerto on Sep 16, 2009 11:12 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

You think Gray is ugly now, I wrestled with him in college. Wait until you get a image of him without his tooth slip in the front. He has no front teeth from something. Now that is an ugly hockey player looking mofo.

Unreal, Brock Larson is 26-2 with his only 2 loses coming to top ten competition. WTF, he needs a top ten opponent!!!

Its undercards like this that make me wish they showed all the prelim fights.. Maybe on spike tv before the actual ppv? i realize that probably wont happen but they should work something out.

Please whoop CB’s ass Dan. I would love to see him get his pink slip….

by SARS on Aug 15, 2009 6:14 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Hope El Matador doesn’t get cut. And here are the winners:

-Nate Diaz[though I feel Guillard will win]
-Huerta[though I think Maynard would outwrestle him]
-Crazy
-Natural Born Killer
-Robot
-The professor
-Larson

by The Negation on Aug 15, 2009 6:18 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Is there anyone in the ufc getting screwed over as bad as Brock Larson? Are they keeping him on undercards till his contract runs out to decrease his bargaining power?

Big upsets, I can’t believe that Cantwell, Larson and Wilson all lost. Stann-Cantwell has to be the biggest shocker, so much for it being a pointless fight.

Who is that guy that said Nate had no chance of securing takedowns? He did good on the takedowns. Also I called it exactly. MElvin was going to get overly aggressive and get caught in the Triangle, and sure as shit in typical Melvin fashion over aggresiveness leads to the triangle choke!!!!

by Da Monkey on Sep 16, 2009 10:08 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

I dont know if we were watchin the same fight buddy but i didnt see any triangle chokes haha

As Kenny Florian called it a modified triangle choke, did he or did he not call it that? Just going on what the expert called it, buddy! It looked like it was somewhere between a guilliotine and a triangle. Who am I to start naming bjj chokes!
