Well, it is pretty obvious that Strikeforce hasn’t started random drug testing yet. Cyborg is just as big and ripped as some of the IFBB women bodybuilders. It is like the 2,000 lb. gorilla in the room. She shows almost every superficial sign of steroid use in the book, but since she knows she is only getting tested around fight time, she would have to be a complete idiot to test positive.
That being said, I would love to see Gina win, but she is fighting a highly skilled and powerfull man in Cyborg. I just think he is gonna be too much for Carano.

Unfortunatly there are a lot of “idiots” in MMA that give the sport a bad name because of the use of steroids.

Props to the ladies for both making weight…..and more importantly….. for obviously putting in the work to prepare for this fight. Both look more fit than I’ve seen them previously. Even though I’m not real big on women’s MMA, this IS a big fight. Beyond the winner being “the face” of the sport, this fight may in large part determine if women’s MMA has a viable future. Given the stakes, I expect this to be highly competitive.

Last time i heard Cyborg was a purple belt under Cristiano Marcello. Probly a black belt by now while Gina didn’t even know what a gogoplata was when she tried to throw it up on Young. She’ll definitely take it to the ground if she’s in trouble.

Am I wrong or is this thread about Carano and Cyborg? Not to be an arse, but why would they show other pics of other fighters..If you are talking about the http://www.combatlifestyle.com gallery, she has like 10 pages of other fighters from the weigh ins. I also think as a woman, this fight has big meaning for her. It is the main event, of a major promotion, using woman to headline, that has the majority of the mma community interested in women’s mma. This fight will essentially determine if a women’s mma product would be a realistic and viable product. So I would imagine, that would be why the majority of the pics would be of Gina, since Cyborg in a bikini, will be haunting my dreams for the next several weeks….
I really think if Gina can stick to what ever game plan Couture laid out for her, she will have a great chance. You have a pin point accurate striker in Carrano vs. a bit of a wild striker in Cyborg. Neither one has really had there chin tested, by a fighter with their respective power. So you realy don’t know if Gina sits in the pocket, weathers the initial storm, and then picks her apart. I could see Cyborg going in fast, for the quick KO, and blowing her load in the first round. AHH, just my 2Cents, feel fre to give me back change….

I think too many are getting carried away by how santos looks, she may be intimidating but she is very eratic with her striking!! Gina however seems to have a much more disciplined striking game, so it makes for an exciting fight, Im not saying santos isnt good im just saying her manish appearance wont win her this fight, skill will because gina is certainly skilled!!
Plus how attractive is gina, i think its such an attraction the fact shes so cute and that shes a fighter!! No prizes for guessing who wins the good looks comp lol!!!

Gina takes this one. She’s a much mor polished striker and probably has a little advantage on the ground. Cyborg looks mean but I think he’s over rated. Took him 2 1/2 rounds to finish off that lil asian girl in his last fight and he out weighed her by like 5-10 pounds. Carano FTW! She’s smoking!

I think gina takes this . She will definately have to weather and early storm , but if she uses her angles and circles out instead of backing into the cage she will end up catching cyborg with her cleaner striking.
Cyborg probably has the edge in pure submissions but they arent going to be enough to catch Gina. With Gina training with couture she should have a decided edge in wrestling and can probably score multiple takedowns and enjoy some top control to stay ahead on points, Cyborg throws herself off balance alot because of the ferocity of her attack and gives away alot of easy take downs because of it.
It is by no means a gimme but i think with the proper game plan Gina wins this fight 7 of 10 times and this will be one of them. Its easy to sell her short because of the contrast in looks. But this isnt a bodybuilding contest its a fight and the strength factor isnt as huge as when the vanilla gorilla Brock is fighting.
