Dan Miller vs CB Dollaway UFC Fight Night 19 fight now likely for Sept. 16

The middleweight carousel continues to spin for several upcoming bouts.

MMAmania.com has learned that Dan Miller (11-2) will now take on The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) 7 runner-up CB Dollaway -- not Aaron Simpson as previously reported -- at UFC Fight Night 19: "Diaz vs. Guillard" from the Cox Convention Center in Oklahoma City, Okla., on Sept. 16.

Miller agreed to take on Simpson when Ed Herman was called upon to replace an injured James Irvin opposite Wilson Gouveia at UFC 102 in Portland, Ore., later this month. However, Gouveia was injured shortly thereafter, leaving Herman in the lurch.

Therefore, Simpson is once again booked to battle Herman, this time at UFC 102, and Miller and Dolloway are penciled in to collide at UFC Fight Night 19.

Miller, a Brazilian jiu-jitsu brown belt, recently had his red-hot three-fight UFC win streak snapped when he faced off against Chael Sonnen at UFC 98 back in May. He was supposed to tangle with Yushin Okami, which would have likely vaulted him to the top of the division with a win.

However, "Thunder" got hurt and Miller accepted the bout against the Team Quest product on short notice. It didn’t go his way. Now Miller will look to get back on track against the Arizona Combat Sports product.

Prior to the Sonnen bout, the former International Fight League Champion (IFL) filled in again as a replacement to school blue chip prospect, Jake Rosholt, via submission (guillotine choke) at UFC Fight Night 17. He also holds wins over Rob Kimmons and Matt Horwich inside the Octagon.

Dollaway will look to rebound from a lightning fast submission loss to TUF 8 contestant Tom Lawlor at UFC 100 on July 11. The defeat snapped a two fight win streak -- he finished Mike Massenzio via first round technical knockout at UFC 92 and submitted Jesse "Yellow Submarine" Taylor at UFC Fight Night 14 with a rare "Peruvian necktie."

"The Doberman" was unsuccessful in his bid to win it all at the TUF 7 Finale on in June 2008, losing to eventual tournament winner Amir Sadollah via first round submission (armbar).

"Diaz vs. Guillard" will serve as the lead-in to the tenth season of The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) and will feature a main event between hungry lightweight up-and-comers and former TUF grads Nate Diaz and Melvin "The Young Assassin" Guillard.

In addition, Roger "El Matador" Huerta will throwdown for perhaps the last time inside the Octagon as he tries to leave on a high note against the stifling super-wrestler Gray "The Bully" Maynard. Nate Quarry, Carlos Condit and Chris Lytle are also scheduled to compete.

I wish Huerta would hang out with GSP more and become a better “person” and then beat up everybody. He had a lot of potential sucks he’s living UFC.

Miller by sub is for sure the most likely outcome of this fight.

by ViolentMike on Aug 11, 2009 10:38 AM EDT up reply actions

Definitely, Miller has awesome BJJ and Dollaway is prone to getting caught in submissions, Dan should take this one pretty easily though I hope he’s worked on his wrestling after the Sonnen fight, I don’t want to see another wrestler lay on him for 15 minutes again.

this should be a really solid fight

Why is CB still under contract? If he loses will this be it for him in the UFC?

by BeerMan on Aug 11, 2009 9:41 AM EDT reply actions

I hope so. He really gets on my nerves……

I’d really like to watch him fight….but I think there’s a women’s basketball game on at that time.

Credeur is the only fighter who bores me on this card.

Otherwise, I agree. Nice card.

Let’s hope Nate does not mail it in like he has for the last 2 fights…

Lets hope he wasn’t training with his brother (if you know what I mean)

if you want to make easy money bet the house on dan miller, now that is the lock of the year. you can’t compare the sonnen fight, in deciding a winner because sonnen is a good wrestler and a very experienced fighter, hes a top 15 mw for sure. cb on the other hand is just a tufer and i know for a fact he wont be able to lay on miller the whole fight

by jared on Aug 11, 2009 12:35 PM EDT up reply actions

Nate mail it in? What do you mean OJR? To me, Nate always brings it. You aren’t going to hold a submission loss to Maia against him are you? Everyone gets sub’d by Maia.

His last one he beat the crap outta JMac on the ground, who has better jits than Tim. I like Tim, but I like Nate ALOT more. Nate by TKO.

I also think that if Nate hadn’t got injured, that HE would have been the TUF 1 winner.

On Topic, Dan sub’s CB easy, as everyone else just said.

by Synyster on Aug 11, 2009 1:32 PM EDT up reply actions

Syn-

I was referring to Nate Diaz. See previous post by Beerman to confirm that.

BTW – I agree about Quarry, he always brings it.

by OJR on Aug 11, 2009 2:05 PM EDT up reply actions

Oh, duh. My bad, totally forgot about Diaz there. I get it now.

Can’t stand CB Gayaway.

I hope this is the last we see of him.

CB is on the fast track out to UFC. WOOO!

by McGovern on Aug 11, 2009 3:30 PM EDT reply actions

Till this day, I don’t get women fighting…it may seem sexy to some guys or something; however, it’s just not feminine to me…and I’m a guy. Someone, help!!! I don’t get it.

by henry young on Aug 11, 2009 5:46 PM EDT reply actions

i dont like it either. im glad dana has not brought females to the ufc yet. there is nothing sexy about a chic with scars and a flat nose.
