Yeah…his lights were DEFINITELY otu!!!
What a shame….the BEST 135 fighter in teh world winning the main event of a televised show ONLY makes $18,000. And it would of been ONLY $9000 if he had lost

I still can’t believe I get to watch these WEC cards for free! Amazing fights! I think I enjoyed it overall more than UFC 101. I hardly ever see a boring fight on WEC and they did not disappoint last night.

Torres is (or was) one of the P4P top fighters in the world and rolled in 25K ..something wrong with that

no, smaller show, no ppv revenue and lighter weight class. He makes most money on gyms and sponsors. It’ll be just like what strikeforce pays this weekend, it’s not UFC guys!

do the math guys 20k times 3 fights a year is 60k…
add sponsors, bonuses etc he’s making 6 figures.
why do we have to have this discussion after every event.
6 figures doing something he loves, how many of us can say that?

I believe he was commenting on the guy that only pulled down $2000.

Also 6 figures suffering permanent brain damage, and with few job prospects after retiring from fighting. No way he has enough to live on without working again, and he doesn’t have a good resume to get a good job later in life.

frosnt1, so opening 4 or 5 gyms isn’t a great source of income? I really get a kick out of some of you guys man!
by kevin on Aug 10, 2009 7:05 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
For some reason, I have trouble believing that every MMA fighter opens 4-5 gyms in retirement. It just seems…kind of impossible.
by frosnt1 on Aug 10, 2009 10:50 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
really, so how many big name guys have gyms in chicago?
Nick Diaz has a gym with his brother, gracies all have their own gym.
if you have a brain, you can market yourself!

So…smaller fighters, smaller paychecks?? Torres getting 25G is b.s.

Not much money but the WEC probably doesn’t pull in a lot of cash either. Although I usually enjoy the fights more the most of the UFC fights.

$2-3k a fight is crazy. That’s hobby money.
Fuck, people make more bowling.
