-- UFC lightweight standout Kurt Pellegrino (14-4) talks during the UFC 101 post-fight presser (via Canadian Press) about opening the main card with his three round unanimous decision win over Josh Neer. "Batman" used his jiu-jitsu and top game to stymie Neer's offense and kept the pressure on throughout the fight with repeated takedowns. "The Dentist" was busy from his guard with a couple of submission attempts but was never able to mount much of an offense during the bout. Neer was visibly frustrated by round three and let the New Jersey grappler know about it with a verbal tirade that only got him slapped for his efforts. It was Pellegrino's third straight win inside the Octagon and fourth in his last five attempts. Who's next in line for the ascending 155-pounder?

Lets face it your not gonna beat Josh Neer in a pretty fight. It’s going to be ugly. Kurt won every round and Neer wasn’t even close to submitting him. I’d like to see him fight Tyson Griffin.

I expected this fight to be a better brawl. Pellegrino was just the much smarter fighter, which was expected. Neer sure is fun to watch though. The guy probably has one of the best chin’s in the weightclass.

i hate neer, hes so arrogant and all he did was make faces at the crowd to get them to think he was getting lay’n prayed, he does hav a tricky gaurd but try escaping positions not crying and trash talking..

Neer is such a ghetto piece of trash. I was so pissed when he fought nate diaz because one of those ghetto, thug-life, lispy speech impediment turds had to win. I remember nate diaz sayin after the fight in his girlish lisp Josh your tight dog. Absolutly love that Neer lost to my boy Pellegrino. Nice tramp stamp tattoo of your name above Neers ass, what a low-life.

I don’t know why ppl thought kurt would lose, he was smashing diaz till he made a mistake, and neer is similar to diaz and besides that I thought he smashed neer pretty good, eiither that or neer bumped his face on the mat and started bleeding, anyways

Can’t stand Neer but I felt a little sorry for him as he had an active guard and was the one looking to put his opponent in danger, problem is that he was taken down too easily and Pellegrino controlled the fight. I don’t like the fact that fights are scored for control over offence but Kurt did a great job at defending submissions and improving his position.
Neer should have tried harder to get up or look for more openings instead of wasting time moaning about being on his back and mouthing off to Kurt, then he would have won this fight.

Pellegrino did not lay and pray, he was active with the constant gnp in all 3 rounds. The only problem was that his gnp was fairly weak and ineffective. But still, he controlled the fight and stayed active, which is more than Neer did.
