If Dana wasn’t being asked about SF or Fedor then he wouldn’t be answering questions about it, so for all the winers who are about to come on here and call him classless and talk about how the UFC needs to get rid of him and blah blah, it’s not him randomly bringing up the topic in the first place!! He’s being asked a question and he is answering! This man and the UFC have done more for this sport than ANYONE or any other organazition in the history of MMA; get over it! Obviously he knows what he’s doing and what he’s talking about to be this successful.

Dana gets it. Like him or not, he gets it. That guy asked about the traffic that Fedor gets on the web and Dana says, “That’s what MMA fans do, but they’re not going to pay for it.” True. Some of us might pay for it as hardcore fans, but they won’t get enough to make it worth it. Even on Showtime, I don’t see that many people who don’t have showtime, getting it just to see Fedor fight cans. I, and probably most of us, will be streaming it.
The average guy wasn’t really paying to see Fedor in Affliction. Affliction had other recognizable names and still couldn’t pull in enough revenue. So it is very unlikely that Strikeforce, with their shallow pockets, will be able to market Fedor to the extent necessary to make their events moneymakers.
Dana is the only one who completely gets it.

Totally agree there Punch. Dana is the only one who gets it. Its not like he’s in some new position here, with a new organization springing up with Fedor. Dana will do was Dana does, and I FULLY EXPECT Strikeforce to go out in 2 years tops. Dont get me wrong, I’m a fan of Strikeforce, but I’m not anymore of a fan now than what I was before. I think the acquisition of Fedor, and subsequently M-1, will be the worst thing that ever happened to Strikeforce.

I think one of these days, Fedor will sign with the UFC and get his immediate title shot. He will only fulfill one fight and then retire. I think Dana had better be careful with Strikeforce. If they have a deal with CBS, then Strikeforce could just as easily counterprogram a UFC PPV. I know that their roster of fighters isn’t as great, but its just a though. In the mean time, I will enjoy free UFC on Spike!

for sure gsp is my number 1, and as much as i hate anderson he’s right beside if not ahead of gsp. fedor on the other hand hasnt cleared out the number 2 guy at this time. he took out nog back than but you cant only live off past achievements. if he wanted to be known as the best fighter in the world he would come to the ufc and take on the likes of lesnar, mir, gonzaga, carwin, cain, justin mccully(imagine that american fedor vs real fedor, EPIC)
off note: just bought pride legacy and finally got to see hendo-nog 2, and that fight was amazing. i always read how hendo fended off a million submissions but it was amazing to finally see. after finally watching that fight i cant help but think that hendo is the baddest dude in mma

Thats correct PW, and anyone who thinks McCully isn’t the real deal has got mental issues. Justin McCully is the baddest man on the planet, and would easily destroy Fedor, which is why he ducked the UFC. The Insane One’s sublime grappling art (to call it anything less would be an insult) is invincible. To say that Fedor could beat Justin McCully is nonsense, the man is right up there with Eddie Sanchez as the two best p4p fighters of our generation and in the history of this planet.

Sorry, but Fedor has no place on this list…you need to be actively fighting the best in the world to warrant inclusion on this list……all three of those guys have been doing that consistently for the past few years….what the hell has Fedor done, besides beating a bunch of guys that suck (arlovski, Sylvia etc etc.)

“A. silva because he would beat gsp if they fight”. That doesn’t mean that Anderson is a better pound for pound fighter. He would have the edge because he is a larger and stronger guy who cuts quite a bit of weight just to fight at 185. GSP has a fairly easy cut to 170.
I would make an argument that if BJ Penn dominates Kenny Florian that he is up there near the top of the rankings. The fact that GSP beat him doesn’t do anything to diminish the fact that he is the best lightweight fighter in the world and possibly top 3 or 4 pound for pound. If BJ goes on a tear in the lightweight division and beats Florian, Diego, Edgar…. etc. the way he beat Sherk then he has a strong case for top lb. for lb. fighter.

For sure Adam Silva is the biggest middle weight in the world hell he’s bigger than most LHW and could fight at 225 to 230 with out losing any speed are endurance. BJ can maybe get to 165 and GSP 185-190 with out losing any speed or endurance. But an arguement for Silva is can anyone beat him at even 205? Most say the only fighter even at 205 that could is Machida too bad they are close friends and we won’t ever see that but let’s wait tell the Forrest fight who is a top 5 LHW fighter and the best LHW fighter Silva has faced to date.

I personally cannot stand Georges St. Jean Claude Van Damme Pierre but he is undoubtedtly the best pound for pound fighter in MMA. After St. Pierre I would go with Machida. These two consistently fight the best competition on a regular basis. If Anderson Silva gets past Griffin, Hendo and Marquardt (or Maia) I would move him back into the top 2. In my opinion Cote and Leites are not top level competition.

1st off spider beating GSP if if if they fought, doesn’t make spider better p4p. Its his size advantage.

it pays for the gas in the van. During the big crisis I had to sell my tires for swansons chicken pot pies but I survived. Its a rough life but the good ol’ Trinity River gives me all the drinkin and bathin water I need. (only funny if you live in Dallas but is equivalent to saying I like to drink out of the toilet… ok maybe a public bathroom toilet. Thats been used. Recently. By someone who is sick. Very Very Sick.)
