Fedor Emelianenko to address media about 'Trilogy' cancelation and more on July 29

Anaheim, Calif. -- Ever since Affliction announced late last week that its "Trilogy" event scheduled for Aug. 1 had been canceled, the combat sports world collectively has waited for an official response from former PRIDE heavyweight champion Fedor Emelianenko.

On Wednesday at 1 p.m. PT inside the DoubleTree Hotel in Anaheim, Calif., Emelianenko will address the media for the first time since last week's sudden cancellation. During the press conference, Emelianenko will discuss the ramifications of the cancellation, comment on his future in the fight game, and respond to questions from members of the media.

"Since the cancellation, there has been a great deal of speculation regarding Fedor and M-1," said Vadim Finkelchtein, whose M-1 Global fight company not only produces international MMA events but also manages Fedor. "On Wednesday, the media and fans will be able to hear what's going on with Fedor from the man himself."

Emelianenko, considered by most pundits to be the top pound-for-pound fighter in the world, had been scheduled to fight top contender Josh Barnett. A win over Barnett would have marked the sixth former UFC heavyweight champion that Emelianenko has defeated in his career.

Unfortunately, Emelianenko was denied his opportunity after the California State Athletic Commission announced last Wednesday that Barnett would not be granted a license in time for the fight.

Emelianenko, 30-1, is perceived by many within the industry to be a free agent and it is believed he is being courted by every major MMA promotion in the world.

Already considered a superstar in many other countries, he has seen his popularity rise in the U.S. since defeating Tim Sylvia, a former UFC heavyweight champion, in just 36 seconds in July of 2008. Emelianenko followed up the dominant Sylvia victory with a first round knockout over Andrei Arlovski -- another former UFC heavyweight champion -- this past January.

I guess Aleksander Emilianenko said that Vadim is using Fedor for his own buisness project and is basically using him and that the UFC has flexible contracts.
He said it in an interview, heres what he said!:

"You can deal with UFC, I know that they have flexible contract system. All these talks about "strict" contract terms with signing with UFC, come ONLY from Vadim Finkelstein, who wants to push his owns business projects through Fedor’s fights"

Here’s a great quote from Fedor’s brother: "You can deal with UFC, I know that they have flexible contract system. All these talks about "strict" contract terms with signing with UFC, come ONLY from Vadim Finkelstein, who wants to push his owns business projects through Fedor’s fights"

FEDOR IS BORING.

I don’t even want to read about Fedor anymore unless he comes to the UFC.

You really can’t be considered the best unless you consistently are beating the best in the fight game. He needs to fight some of the best guys in the UFC heavyweight division that is roid free.

whatever BB, what did his brother say though?

by kevin on Jul 28, 2009 3:08 PM EDT up reply actions

It is obvious that UFC has good contracts.

This is a money issue. Fedor is being controlled by guys who want a piece of the pie. Fedor isn’t about MMA because his manager isn’t about MMA.

His manager is about pushing M-1 or whatever the heck projects he wants.

So since Fedor is his pupet (as far as who and where he will fight), then Fedor is also about business projects more than MMA.

Go fight Hong Kong Chow the giant.

I agree with u Bennie B. but if people were to ask me who do I think would win between Brock and Fedor… I’d say Fedor without hesitation each and everytime.

His brother said that the UFC is fine.

I bet the UFC is even giving Fedor a special offer. But his management team is greedy and they want MORE MORE MORE.

Dave,

You never know until they step into the ring.

When Forrest first fought Shogun, almost everyone said he had no chance.

Lesnar has lunchbox fists. Anything can happen in MMA. That is why we love this sport. I think I would pick Fedor BUT Lesnar is 60 lbs of muscle heavier, this is “real” weight and will present problems for any man.

i think the mma experts and analysts throughout the world feel that Fedor has fought top HW’s for a number of years now. is Dana White the only person on this planet who gets to decide who the top fighters are. Who knows, if Fedor goes to the ufc and fights a 5 fight veteran in Lesnar, a way over the hill Couture, an overrated and overhyped frank mir who probly cant even beat heath herring, he’s probably gonna face flack from the international community saying he wasn’t fighting top competition. fedor’s damned if he does, damned if he doesn’t

I know Fedor could cut weight to fight at 205. So, my question is, would he be as dominating at 205 as he is at HW.
I think it is safe to say the competition at LHW is better than the HW division, regardless of the promotion.
We have all demanded that BJ and A. Silva move up to test their p4p legitimacy, and are now asking the same of GSP.
If Fedor can drop to 205 and knock off some of the top 205lb fighters, I would be more inclined to call him the “over all” p4p best. At this point I’m still not convinced that he is more than the best HW in the world.

by Jrandolph on Jul 28, 2009 6:02 PM EDT up reply actions

Come on, Fed Feds. Come to the Promised Land and bring Mousasi and Belfort with you. Of the three big fish the UFC can hook out of Affliction’s muddied pond, Belfort is the only one I actually see happening right now.

And if this Finkelstein fuck is the guy keeping Fedor from ever fighting on the big show, Fedor needs to take some of that responsibility. What’s left for him outside the UFC? Overeem? OK, but will this guy ever fight in the US? Rogers? LOL. Bigfoot? Only in ’Roid-friendly promotions. Lashley? LOL again.

If Fedor wants to maintain his top HW status he needs to join the UFC. If he doesn’t really care about his status, as it appears right now, then so be it; but he will inevitably slide in the P4P rankings and rightly so.

HOORAY FOR FEDOR BROTHER STEPPING UP AND SAYING

And this one: "You can deal with UFC, I know that they have flexible contract system. All these talks about "strict" contract terms with signing with UFC, come ONLY from Vadim Finkelstein, who wants to push his owns business projects through Fedor’s fights"

NOW LISTEN TO YOUR BROTHER FEDOR

I HOPE THE MEDIA TALKS TO FEDOR AND ASKS HIM QUESTIONs ABOUT THAT CROOKED VADIM FINKELSTEIN

BUT ON The radio show I listen last night on this website said that and I agree with him that Fedor is a grown man and he can get rid of vadim and come to UFC if he wanted; I mean money wouldn’t be the issue or maybe it would be; its this cross promotional garbage; M-1 Global and Vadim saw elite XC and Affliction go under they don’t want the same ; only thing helping them is Fedor so they survive if they cross promote with UFC

I say what the hell cross promote for like 3 fights just to get fights happening then in the contract M1-Global has to go back out on its own and Fedor gets the option to remain in UFC or leave

or Fedor listen to you brother

And this one: "You can deal with UFC, I know that they have flexible contract system. All these talks about "strict" contract terms with signing with UFC, come ONLY from Vadim Finkelstein, who wants to push his owns business projects through Fedor’s fights"

and get rid of VAdim and sign with Dana and the UFC hell go have lunch with Brock lol

No sh$t taco I can’t stand that the man is still ranked #1 by what he did back in Pride by some even though peaple or finaly starting to change their tone but there are still those out there that believe he can fight bums the rest of his life and stay there. If you don’t fight the #2 or even 3 or 4 ranked challengers you should not keep your ranking. AA and Tims weaknesses were exposed before they left the UFC now look at them, I have yet to see Fedor fight a modern day fighter I have more respect for Cro Cop and NOG. I know the Barnett fight was not his fault but him fighting anyone else outside the UFC is not a #1 HW championship fight just another padding the record fight. NOG is just as good as a fighter as he was in Pride but he has troubles against fighters with a good JJ and takedown defence that is becoming better and with today’s MMA fighters and something Fedor was great as well. Brock, mir, NOG, Carwin, Cain, Kongo and even old man couture can beat any of Fedors latest opponents hell they could and some have beat his Pride opponents.

Fedor should stick around til 101, go to it, put his mug on the big screen and let him listen to the crowd roar for him, that should sway him to stop BSing and settle for 250,000 per like Brock but with a clause that states with a win over Brock he can renegotiate for more per fight. If he loses, after all the trouble he’s given Dana, id can his *ss and let him always be 2nd best FOREVER!

by RoJ on Jul 28, 2009 5:55 PM EDT up reply actions

I’m not sure if this has been mentioned, but, Franklin McNeal reported that one of his sources stated that Fedor’s brother feels “the UFC is flexible” and Fedor’s manager is only looking out for his own interest.
I just thought I’d pass that on.

by vega on Jul 28, 2009 4:49 PM EDT reply actions

No shit M1 wants more than Fedor does and all they do is put their name behind what he does. Russia’s version of Don King. If M1 is making the deal Fedor in the UFC might not happen if Fedor came himself he would be signed easy as one two three Dana stated he offered him more than any other fighter in the UFC last time.

by Puck Head on Jul 28, 2009 4:58 PM EDT up reply actions

But is Don King as witty as Aleks?

You make the call :

Here’s a great quote from Fedor’s brother:

"You can deal with UFC, I know that they have flexible contract system. All these talks about "strict" contract terms with signing with UFC, come ONLY from Vadim Finkelstein, who wants to push his owns business projects through Fedor’s fights"

"You can deal with UFC, I know that they have flexible contract system. All these talks about "strict" contract terms with signing with UFC, come ONLY from Vadim Finkelstein, who wants to push his owns business projects through Fedor’s fights"

on the back of the sweater.

by RoJ on Jul 28, 2009 4:58 PM EDT up reply actions

“We want to talk to the UFC about having Fedor compete against some of their fighters, but only within the framework of co-promotional efforts with M-1”

Above is from yesterdays topics and co-promotianal efforts would = no Fedor in the UFC, I can’t see UFC letting M1 even put their name beside theirs on a event let alone share the PPV sales. UFC & M1 present Fedor vs. Brock “Champion against Champion” ………not happening.

by Puck Head on Jul 28, 2009 5:16 PM EDT up reply actions

Exactly, Puck Head…

Not to mention the obvious fact :

"You can deal with UFC, I know that they have flexible contract system. All these talks about "strict" contract terms with signing with UFC, come ONLY from Vadim Finkelstein, who wants to push his owns business projects through Fedor’s fights"

by RoJ on Jul 28, 2009 5:26 PM EDT up reply actions

Are you sure that the quote from Alex before “translation” wasn’t:

" Вы можете заниматься UFC, я знаю, что у них системы гибких контрактных. Все эти переговоры об условиях " строгого " контракт с подписания с UFC, прийти только из Вадим Finkelstein, кто хочет толкать его владеет бизнес-проектов через Федор в боях "

I’m pretty sure this is the way I heard it!!

by The Professor on Jul 28, 2009 5:05 PM EDT reply actions

Yes, but the English translation was :

Here’s a great quote from Fedor’s brother:

"You can deal with UFC, I know that they have flexible contract system. All these talks about "strict" contract terms with signing with UFC, come ONLY from Vadim Finkelstein, who wants to push his owns business projects through Fedor’s fights"

by OJR on Jul 28, 2009 5:15 PM EDT up reply actions

He was also quoted as saying:

" Действительно хотел отсталых брату Федор прекратит одеты что свитер матери трикотажные для него, когда он был 11. Он по-прежнему спит с его бэби контракты слишком. Если он избавляется от этой свитер и одеяло, я буду остановить выполнив Стероиды ".

Translated from Russian to English:

"I really wish my retarded brother Fedor would stop wearing that sweater that Mother knitted for him when he was 11. He still sleeps with his baby blanket too. If he gets rid of that sweater and blanket, I’ll stop doing Steroids".

I had a mysterious dream last night.

In the dream, a Baby-Huey looking character wearing MMA guy came to me and whispered in my ear. He had a Russian accent, and his breath smelled and he was all sweaty from practicing mixed martial arts….

And he came to me and said in a soft whisper:

"You can deal with UFC, I know that they have flexible contract system. All these talks about "strict" contract terms with signing with UFC, come ONLY from Vadim Finkelstein, who wants to push his owns business projects through Fedor’s fights"

And then he disappeared and I woke up from the dream covered in sweat. I was naked except for my old karate green belt, which was wrapped around my waist…. don’t ask how that happened, I don’t know….

did u guys here this?

A long-awaited agreement between the Ultimate Fighting Championship and the man considered the world’s best mixed martial arts fighter, Fedor Emelianenko, is expected to be announced by UFC President Dana White on Friday, a source with information about the negotiations told The Times today.

The source, who asked not to be identified because he’s not authorized to speak publicly about the dealings, called negotiations between the UFC and Fedor “very civil” just days after Fedor’s scheduled Affliction Trilogy fight Saturday against Josh Barnett was canceled.

I went there and couldn’t find anything? There first story is undelined with below..

It seems quite clear that as long as Fedor is managed by Vadim Finkelstein, aka the Russian Don King, that there will be no softening of the demands that have heretofore kept the world’s #1 heavyweight MMA fighter out of the world’s #1 MMA organization.

Fedor probably belongs to the mafia. He’s trying to escape but they got him by the cahoonas. He doesn’t want to be Putin’s pet. His brother knows what’s what and that is why he said what he said. If you don’t know what he said, look it up.
