its ashame that strikeforce.com is still promoting overeem and werdum and riggs and diaz…..they dont even have their own fights listed…

Strikeforce women’s MMA or women’s MMA in general? Because in terms of skillset, the top p4p women would straight clown on 90% of men mma fighters out there. They’re also mad fun to watch coz i’ve never seen females stalling, LNP’ing or “standing and banging because it’s cool” -3 things i hate about men’s MMA. Also MMA is MMA there is no other version that only women do. sorry bout the rant.

They make the same argument to support the WNBA. Better fundamentals, better team game, no 1-on-1 clear-out plays, etc. It’s still a vastly inferior product.

My thinking is that Cyborg destroys va-Gina, then has to go to Japan to find some sort of competition because nobody wants to see her here. Va-Gina has no compelling fights over here, so she ends up in Playboy by this time next year in a sad attempt to cash in on what little name recognition she has left.

you’re very right about the WNBA and after thinking it through my position is that the crappness has to do a lot more with it being 1) a stick and ball sport which quite frankly don’t compare to fighting in terms of technical knowledge used and are much more subtle/fn boring (results are a nice layup compared to an arm triangle) 2) a team sport which splinters up skill sets unlike in MMA. Then again i hate most team sports so i may not be the best person to formulate this hypothesis.

Sorry, NNR, I just meant to say, How do you figure? A lot of them can’t even punch well. And seeings as you said, “top p4p women” who does that consist of? Only Gina and Cyborg. And even then I wouldn’t agree with you.

Well compared to megumi fuji, Tara LaRosa, yuka tsuji, satoko shinashi, Hisae Watanabe or Miku Matsumoto – gina and cyborg are scrubs with very incomplete games. There are fantastic women fighters in the world who show GSP like skills but you have to actually seek them out. You can check every one of them, i am not throwing out random japanese names to be a know it all dbag. And each of them has not only displayed their technical superiority in MMA but they all have very serious credentials ranging from ADCC, Mundials, FILA grappling championships, ShootBoxing(S-Cup)/Kickboxing, Combat sambo world championships, and Asian Games(freestyle wrestling).

I’m conflicted, but I want Cyborg to win because she cops all this flack about her looks and I want to see Princess Media Hype get slapped around. She’s undefeated and so should lose one at least. Though, I do like Gina. she seems pretty down-to-Earth.

Nah, I shouldn’t be hard on Gina; there really is no reason not to like her. I think I just resent all the attention she receives because it tends to overrate her, and articles from Loretta Hunt don’t help the situation. The minute they compare women’s MMA with the men’s is where they lose any respectability. It’s like comparing a penis to a vagina. Except in this case, the feminine product is inferior.

But with that being said, I still want Cyborg to crush her.

Same as you, i want and think cyborg wins coz she’s the better fighter. I happen to think that Gina is attractive but i always bash her for the weight thing. Also the hype and her bs pretending that she doesn’t use her looks to get ahead irks me. Damn my post is still not up! Anyways- i just talk about women who actually have complete MMA games, and are leaps and bounds better than both these girls. Gina vs Cyborg is is nicely hyped but they are far from the best out there.

Yea they are in lighter weight classes from 95lbs-135lbs-all very talented and exciting fighters. At least i am happy you said “interesting” since most others have just blow me off as an idiot when i talk women and mma. Anyways, if you ever have a few minutes to waste i would recommend at least peeping a youtube HL (I know there is a great one of Shinashi).

As suspected they are mostly Japs. I like those Japanese fighters too. But I think the girls like Cyborg and Gina, despite having less technical skills, would still beat them most of the time because they have the Brock-factor, that is, they’re much more bigger and powerful in most cases. So that does more to level the lack of technical ability.

Yeah, I should at least have a look-see. My other post is in moderation too, but I was just saying that because these girls are mostly smaller, I think they would still lose to Cyborg or Carano because of the difference in strength and size. The result, despite their technical superiority, would end similar to Cyborg’s fight with Hitomi Akano, where she was just too powerful.

Koba- I don’t think that Cyborg just gets flack for the way she looks, but for the reason that she looks that way. I don’t need to see a failed drug test to see that she uses steroids. It is like the 2,000 lb. gorilla in the room. From her body, to her face, to the sound of her voice, she has every telltale sign of a steroid user.

What, she formerly used them or still does? She would surely get tested positive if she’s still using though.

But in regard to previous use, well, gee, I suppose I am too trusting. In that case she deserves to lose. In that case, she deserves to get sodomized! — oh, I mean, brutalized!

She could easily still be using them. Unless Strikeforce has started implementing random drug testing throughout the year, then the only time she would be tested is right before a fight. If an athlete knows what day they will be tested on, it is almost pointless to have the test. That gives the user plenty of time to cylce off whatever drugs they were using, so that they are clean by the time of the test. All an athlete has to do is stay away from certain steroids that tend to stay in the body for long periods of time, such as Deca.

There’s a medical procedure that can cure Cyborg — it’s called an addadiktome.

Koba- Well of course they would ragdoll them, that’s like saying Lesnar can smash on BJ and GSP. Of course he can but that doesn’t mean that they are the most dominant LW and WW out there and are a pleasure to watch. You saw Akano get smashed by Cyborg-her natural weight class is 123lbs yet she put a good fight and was always lookin for that sub (in japan, they have 30s time limits for how long girls can be on the ground so their grappling work rate are incredile and super slick/precise). But i think it will be long while before people start givin props to skilled women.

As far as cyborg, until i see a failed test, i won’t judge. It’s like the way Lesnar gets flack even though like he’s said he’s been tested more than 40 times without a single incident.

She probably needs the toilet seat up too.
