that guys name is Cam Stewart and he hosts a radio show with his partner Gabe Morency on The Score…which is basically the ESPN of Canada but wayyy better.
They get away with anything…Cabral Richards (A.K.A. Cabbie) rose to fame from his show Cabbie on the Street….great show the professionals open up to Cabbie like they would to no other interviewer.
To sum it up the Score is a great Canadian sports news program and this was hilarious when Cam got choked out.

Nah, I got choked out once in BJJ class, it really isn’t a big deal. It may seem dangerous to most people, but there are no, absolutely no after effects.

Think about it: all you’re really doing is cutting off the blood to the head, for about 4 or 5 seconds, and then letting go of the choke and beginning the blood flow again.

As a comparison, it takes about 3 MINUTES without blood or oxygen before brain damage begins.

So it’s really no different than holding your breath, in that it’s not that dangerous, except that you lose consciousness for a few moments and wake up wondering what the fuck happened.

That said kids, don’t go choking out your friends because an improperly applied choke can hurt someone.

There is always a small chance that somebody can have some kind of pre-exhisting health problem he doesn’t know about, and in that situation someone could end up in deep trouble. Other than that, as long as the person knows to let go when the guy goes out, I don’t see anyone dieing. Still, maybe not the best idea. haha

Its a misconception that when you use a choke like this that attacks the carotid artery that it doesn’t allow ANY oxygen into the brain, infact it only takes about 15% of the oxygen away, which is obviously enough to render someone unconcious, but as stated above, the choke would have to be implemented for a prolonged period after the individual has lost conciousness for any permanent damage to be done.

I choked a guy out in BJJ class one time, he was a cocky bastard that was like “tapping is for pus*ies” so I choked him out and he was snoring for a few seconds, we still make fun of him. We say “snoring is for pus*ies” hahaha
