UFC 103: Eliot Marshall vs Jason Brilz on tap for Sept. 19

The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) 8 semifinalist Eliot Marshall (7-1) and surging light heavyweight Jason Brilz (17-1-1) are set to collide on the undercard of UFC 103 from the American Airlines Center in Dallas, Texas, on September 19 according to Five Ounces of Pain.
Marshall cut his teeth in the ‘Ring of Fire’ promotion before making his debut on the eighth season of TUF. He would eventually fall to division winner Ryan Bader in the semifinals, but bounced back at the TUF 8 Finale with a submission victory over castmate Jules Bruchez.
"The Fire" made it two in a row under the Zuffa banner when he outpointed dangerous submission fighter Vinny Magalhaes at UFC 97: "Redemption" back on April 18.
Brilz boasts a near perfect professional record and has won 12 straight contests, including his first two UFC appearances. He first stopped Brad Morris in the second round at last year's Fight Night 15 before taking a unanimous decision win over Tim "The Barbarian" Boetsch at UFC 96 this past March.
The Nebraska-based fighter –- who is a decorated amateur wrestler -– has notable wins over veterans such as Jason MacDonald, Alex Schoenauer and others.
UFC 103 will feature a main event between Rich "Ace" Franklin locking horns with "Dangerous" Dan Henderson in a rematch from their UFC 93 main event back on January 17 that saw Hendo squeak out a split decision victory.
Also slated for the main card is a heavyweight tilt between former PRIDE superstar Mirko Cro Cop and surging heavyweight prospect Junior Dos Santos. In addition, Martin Kampmann and Mike Swick will collide to determine the number one contender for Georges St. Pierre’s 170-pound title.

thanks man!
Shinya Aoki wants to face a few UFC fighters:
Even a mid-level fighter would do, like Joe Stevenson. I actually wanted him to lose [against Nate Diaz], so he’d be cut and he could come to Dream and I could fight him. Life doesn’t always work out the way you want, but anyway, there are a lot of fighters I’d like to fight in the US."

I would love to see how Aoki would fare against some of the top UFC guys. I think he’d have trouble with the wrestlers.

gotta tell ya man I wasn’t overly impressed with his win over Vitor…I expected more or maybe I expected too much. Aoki/Hanson will be AWESOME though…what did you think about Zaromskies KO’s over Mach and Jason High…big dude for 170…I was hoping for Galvao/Zammy but High smothered his way to victory before he got his head taken off
by McArthur on Jul 21, 2009 4:23 PM EDT up reply actions
I think guys took Zaromskis lightly … it won’t happen again. Someone will take him to the ground (and keep him there this time) and beat him. He looks big because the Dream WWs are smaller than the UFC’s WWs. And yeah, the Aoki fight this weekend was lame, but we’ve seen enough great performances from him to know that he’s still the shit.

they are def smaller…he looked muscular like Rumble though but your probably right cause Jason High and Mach are very small WW’s and would be LW’s in the UFC

someone claimed he was on roids, but I give everyone the benefit of the doubt til they test positive.
I would love to see him stand n bang with alves or Condit

Hypothetically if I changed Hendo/Rich to Machida/Shogun would you then say its a good card??
Rich "Ace" Franklin (25-4) vs. Dan "Hollywood" Henderson (25-7)
Main card (Televised):
265 lbs.: Junior "Cigano" Dos Santos (8-1) vs. Mirko "Cro Cop" Filipovic (25-6-2)
170 lbs.: Martin "Hitman" Kampmann (15-2) vs. Mike "Quick" Swick (15-2)
170 lbs.: Josh "Kos" Koscheck (12-4) vs. Frank "Twinkle Toes" Trigg (19-6)
155 lbs.: Efrain "Hecho en Mexico" Escudero (11-0) vs. Cole "Magrino" Miller (15-3)
155 lbs.: Sean Sherk (33-4-1) vs. Gleison Tibau (17-7)*
155 lbs.: Hermes Franca (19-7) vs. Tyson Griffin (13-2)
185 lbs.: Tomasz "The Gorilla" Drwal (16-2-1) vs. Drew "The Massacre" McFedries (8-5)*
155 lbs.: Rafael dos Anjos (11-4) vs. "Handsome" Matt Wiman (10-5)*
185 lbs.: Aaron "A-Train" Simpson (5-0) vs. Ed "Short Fuse" Herman (15-7)*
205 lbs.: Eliot "The Fire" Marshall (7-1) vs. Jason Brilz (17-1-1)*

I would. The card now is ok, just not $45 dolalrs ok, with the addition of a championship bout it would definately be worth it!!
by Dragon on Jul 21, 2009 4:31 PM EDT up reply actions
They’ve done it couple times already but I wouldn’t be surprised if they aired (guarenteed) 6 fights instead of 5 because there isn’t a title fight….155 lbs.: Sean Sherk (33-4-1) vs. Gleison Tibau (17-7)*
155 lbs.: Hermes Franca (19-7) vs. Tyson Griffin (13-2) would both be cool
by McArthur on Jul 21, 2009 4:34 PM EDT up reply actions
The Sherk/Tibau fight is probably staying on the undercard, with both guys coming off losses. Franca/Griffin will make the cut if they go with six fights.

do they do it live or tape delay and pick the best one…me thinks the latter but we’ll see…card looks real good to me other than the main…Trigg needs an early exit as I have a feeling they only brought him back for Hughes to beat

In all honesty, this is an OK card. It’s the main event that bringsthis whole shindig down. Look at the main event. Can you say suck?
by Syd[a.k.a."The Negation"] on Jul 21, 2009 6:21 PM EDT up reply actions
I don’t know man. I agree that the main event makes no sense, but it should at least be a good fight right? I mean the last fight was good and both guys are riding high right now. I expect this to be a good event.
