UFC Quick Quote: Michael Bisping wants to rematch Dan Henderson after kicking some backside at UFC 105

"I am gonna kick someone's backside in Manchester in front of my hometown crowd, then fight again as soon as possible and then rematch with Henderson. That wasn't the best of me in the ring in Vegas and I want another crack at him. I want a top fighter in Manchester, I want to get back up there straight away. That's what I have told the UFC. I can't wait to fight in Manchester again, it will be good to fight in front of my own supporters again."

– A fired up Michael Bisping talks to the Manchester Evening News about avenging his knockout loss to Dan Henderson at UFC 100 on July 11. "The Count" managed to avoid a lengthy suspension after going limp against "Hollywood" and should be cleared in time to exact his revenge at UFC 105 in Manchester on November 14. The question is, who gets the first crack at "The Clitheroe Kid?" We know The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) 3 light heavyweight winner has talent, but we also know he's not ready for the world's best. So which mid-level fighter will be a good opponent for him at the UK show? Fantasy matchmakers -- sound off.

i knew Hendo hit him hard, but he may be half brain dead. give him anyone he can beat so he can fight Hendo again. iwould love to watch him get ktfo again.
i really can’t think of many guys i think he can beat. he’s runnin’ that mouth, tryin’ to stay relevant though.

Oh you know Wandy could use some thunder. Let Wandy show Bisping what its like to be hit again. Imagine two highlight reels back to back of Bisping getting ktfo.

Give it up BISPING back to the botom you go, after you got knocked the f*ck out i have no interest in watching u fight top contenders. Maybe after u work your way up, then will let HOLLYWOOD KO u again

That would be priceless!

by attakdog on Jul 20, 2009 1:00 PM EDT up reply actions

There you go.Since Wanderlei is moving to 185,let him knock out Bisping too.I Think Hendo should get next title fight with Silva before any rematch between Hendo & Bisping takes place.I think in a rematch Bisping gets KTFO again.

by fghtfn on Jul 20, 2009 1:02 PM EDT up reply actions

i say let him be gsp’s first match in the mw division. let bisping get dominated for 3 rounds of pure viewing satisfaction. gsp would drill this no power having fool.
they seriously need to check this guys brain again? that was so f’in hard!!! before he fights again, he’s gonna need to learn to tie his shoes, and possibly potty train again.
as much as i dislike this douche, i almost feel sorry for him every time i watch that KO. all 20 times a day, i did say almost!

another shot like that and he is gonna need muhammad ali’s speech therapist.

by buttcrack obama bin laden on Jul 20, 2009 1:47 PM EDT up reply actions

I like Cote or Wandy for the count’s next opponent. But what’s he saying, he wants 2 fights before challenging Hendo again? What, is he waiting for age to catch up with the old guy? Cuz thinking back on it, that sounded like his entire reasoning behind why he could beat Dan in the first place. “I’m not really a better fighter, but Dan’s too old and slow…”

by just some dong on Jul 20, 2009 2:03 PM EDT up reply actions

lol. That wasn’t the best Bisping?

why? He was in tip top shape and peppering and running like he always does. He can’t takedown Henderson. I don’t understand how he could be better.

The only way he wins is by out pointing Hendo. Hendo knew this and was ready to go 3 long rounds and beat him up.

Same outcome.

by Bennie Blanco on Jul 20, 2009 2:19 PM EDT up reply actions

I actually concur that this wasn’t the best Bisping. But even Bisping at his best won’t match up with the top MWs.

His only dimension seems to be stand-up, and speed and boxing isn’t enough when your power doesn’t scare guys. Many times I’ve seen Bisping land clean combinations on the button and his opponent keeps stalking forward. If your opponent has any skill, it’s just a matter of time till he lands something of his own. Up until this fight, Bisping looked like his chin could handle it; but some shots nobody can handle.

by Jeremyjackson on Jul 20, 2009 2:32 PM EDT up reply actions

I would like to see him fight Cote as well. Not sure the timeline on Patrick’s recovery though. McFedrie’s wouldn’t be bad either. As mentioned, a win against either would help get The Count back on track.

For certain though, against any of these guys, Bizz has to learn to move to his right…

by DJ on Jul 20, 2009 3:06 PM EDT up reply actions

Ok, so that wasn’t the best bisping BUT he will probably never beat a guy like hendo unless he can out point him.

The best bisping vs hendo still loses. There is no KO power there.

by Bennie Blanco on Jul 20, 2009 3:07 PM EDT up reply actions

Man, I really want to see Cote knock The Count down a few more pegs in front of his home town crowd. I seem to remember Cote himself saying that he was really hoping for that fight in a video where he picked Henderson to win, that was posted here a few weeks ago. I’m also thinking that this makes a lot of sense for both guys at this point in their careers. Come on Joe Silva, hook it up.

by Canucklehead on Jul 20, 2009 4:11 PM EDT up reply actions

i hate bisping as much as the next guy but you people need to give him a little more credit then this…..bisping would beat alot of middleweights and i think he would beat every single person on the list the first guy posted….he’s only lost in his career to rashad, hendo and hamill ( not an L on his record tho lol)

by JG on Jul 20, 2009 4:23 PM EDT up reply actions

You know guys, if you’re going to speculate match-ups for Bisping for a specific event (in this case UFC 105 on Nov 14) try to offer fighters that aren’t booked for a fight immediately before or after the event you’re targeting. That way, the fights you’re suggesting could actually happen in real life.

by Jeremyjackson on Jul 20, 2009 4:31 PM EDT up reply actions

All I know is that I will be watching the early Sportsnet broadcast of this event here in Canada (it’s a free event) … because that night is the boxing event of the year and I’m not missing it – Paquiao vs. Cotto! Good lord what a fight.

by Alpha Male 360 on Jul 20, 2009 4:56 PM EDT up reply actions

JG u said everyone on the 1st guys list, so u really think bisping could beat GSP? maybe u got hit in the head as hard a hendo hit bisping or maybe u just didn’t see GSP on that list (only 2 possible answers) cause bisping beating GSP is laughable. i would luv to see that fight as GSPs 1st fight at MW tho, a good warm up fight to get the weight sized up for the WW kingpin. i think mcfed would be a tough fight for bisbing as well. he could probably beat the rest tho, but not easily, bisping was way overrated going into the hendo fight (that did make me some nice green)

by bullsh*t on Jul 20, 2009 6:04 PM EDT up reply actions

i would love to see a rematch, but would prefer seeing Bisping vs. Akiyama!

by naturalshadow on Jul 20, 2009 11:39 PM EDT up reply actions

Bisping vs. Mcfedries would be dangerous for him, but that would be a great fight. I don’t know after getting knocked out if fighting a knockout specialist is a good idea. On the flipside, if he can weather those Mcfedries bombs and come out on top it will boost his confidence back up and then he may be ready for Henderson.

I want to see ED Shortfuse Herman fight him too…and I know he would love to…by then, Bisbing could learn to move to his left…giving Ed his second knockout of his career…or perhaps a good old GNP…

by Jimbo on Jul 21, 2009 9:46 PM EDT up reply actions

Come on all you Bisbing haters…of which I am one…give the guy his dues…anybody can get caught by the big one…even the best of the best…the guy has won 18 out of 20 fights o/a…and is 9 and 2 in what I believe is the toughest mma fighting organization…the UFC…I am anxious to see him fight again to see what effect, if any, that KO will have on his future…If he gets NTFO again…I’m a happy camper…but realistically I dont see that happening in his next fight…if he’s not matched with a top ten fighter…and he wont be cause he’s Dana’s BOY !

by Jimbo on Jul 21, 2009 10:14 PM EDT up reply actions

by Sp00ner1234 on Jul 20, 2009 12:38 PM EDT up reply actions

White will give him an opponent he can beat otherwise he’ll loose his UK posterboy…its all about money, the UFC is easy to read.
Pis-bing got all the early easy fights because the UFC wanted to expand into the UK, you cannot do that with a posterboy that gets knocked out.
Now they have to get him back on track, thats why he will be allowed to fight a nobody in front of his ma and kids.

That’s because those are the only two fighters of any real skill he’s fought. I like Bisping but he doesn’t have what it takes to become a champion in that division, or any division for that matter. The list of fighters in his class that are much better is a long one.

by Greggo on Jul 20, 2009 2:08 PM EDT up reply actions

greggo and attakdog, you’re right… maybe bisping have 100 wins but against who? the point is that bisping have skills, i believe he is in the top 15 (of course bisping the 15 jajaja) and he is young and he is intelligent (and handsome and have cute eyes ammm oops sorry jajaja) maybe with this lose against henderson he will be a better fighter… btw that fight against hammill, bisping lost but thats in the past…

by the heat on Jul 20, 2009 4:41 PM EDT up reply actions

Bisping needs a lot more than just one fight to get Hendo again. Maybe he got hit too hard if he is already wanting to fight him again. They could fight 10 times and the same thing will happen each time. Besides Hendo is on his way to a title shot soon. Probably Hendo vs winner of Marquart and Maia then he’ll get his title shot.

by Kobajack on Jul 20, 2009 12:30 PM EDT up reply actions

Bisbing will be a good test for anyone working their way up the MW ladder. I can’t see him standing any chance against the likes of Silva, but expected a hell of a lot more against Hendo. Has there been any excuse given as to why he completely disregarded his corners instructions to not circle left? EVERYONE has said that within the first minute of watching that fight, they knew he would lose because he was setting himself up for a KO.

by VNDK8 on Jul 20, 2009 12:29 PM EDT reply actions

I think someone needs to teach bisping how to cut weight.. he was so skinny in that fight it took from his power.. if you look at dan he looks the same size at 185 as he does at 205.. loosing all the weight and cutting only a little probably wont work for bisping..If he can’t finnish with strikes he will wash up fairly quickly

by eagzy on Jul 20, 2009 12:31 PM EDT reply actions

Ticketmaster??? The co.main event will be Dan Hardy vs A.Nuvvabum. This is shaping up to be some all British card and possibly the worst numbered UFC in history!

by attakdog on Jul 20, 2009 12:39 PM EDT up reply actions

If Wandi or Maia somehow end up on the card then I’ll be happy plus Hardy against a top 10 WW could be a decent co main event but I agree no title fights signals another disappointing UK card, the news that it’s not a PPV in the US leaves me with low expectations for the event on paper.

LMAO, Bizzzzbing’ll be given some can just like the old days. He’s proved he hasn’t got the game to hang with the big boys.

The guy punches like a fairy and nobody’s going to be remotely worried about fighting him. Wand or Cote would just walk through all his powder puff punches and deliver another spectacular KO. He’ll doubtless get Belcher for another easy win.

At least I can save my money and not bother going to Manchester. If the UFC think I’m spending my hard earned on another Bizzzzbing vs A.Nuvvacan main event joke, they’re sorely mistaken.

by Ralphie on Jul 20, 2009 12:39 PM EDT reply actions

Bisping looked awful against Hendo and proved that he is nowhere near a title shot, he doesn’t have the power, the technique or the discipline to beat the best. I say give him Wandi because I want to see the Axe Murderer at his best at 105 and he’s the only MW (other than Maia) who would make up for me missing out on seeing Andy.

As for Hendo, I say give him Nate if he beats Maia for the next title shot, as there’s no point having two top contenders who Andy already soundly beat or let him have the next shot after Maia when he beats Nate.

by David W-S on Jul 20, 2009 12:42 PM EDT reply actions

sadly he could probably outbox Wandy….

by Robert(1) on Jul 20, 2009 12:46 PM EDT up reply actions

After his last display I doubt it, Bisping’s footwork was awful, he pretty much ran into Hendo’s fist. The worst thing was that he completely ignored his corner, on the basis of that performance Wandi will give him another highlight reel KO.

bisping vs cote

by alex on Jul 20, 2009 12:52 PM EDT reply actions

I thought Bisping was doing fine, lost 1st rnd was winning the 2nd round until he started circling left.

The question is is Bisping coachable? I mean his coach told him right there on the stool not to circle to Hendo’s right. I’m sure he had been telling him that during their traning sessions.

Hendo even mentioned that on the tapes Bisping always does that. I mean hell is he stupid?

by kibbled_bits on Jul 20, 2009 12:54 PM EDT reply actions

whats great is that i bet bizzz thinks if he goes to the right the whole fight he can win, but as we all know dans left can put you to sleep as well, there is no where to hide and now that he is aware of how hard he hits, he will leave himself open for the takedown. i really think he is banking on time catching up with dan.

I say Bisping versus Hizown Ego!
Seriously, what the hell is going through his head? He still is leading into his own hype. Getting toe-tagged by Hendo should be a wake up call – he needs to refine his skills. But that’s not true, he won’t make any changes and it will show the next time he tries to use this ‘speed’ he things he has and gets cleaned up by a hard hitting counter puncher not affraid of his ‘amazing power’ that he thinks he has.

(insert image of toolbag here)

by ---Caesar--- on Jul 20, 2009 1:08 PM EDT up reply actions

Bisping vs. Gouveia, Kang, WAndy, or Mcfredries…I think any of these guys will school him. He needs to keep fighting guys nobody else wans to fight. You know who else would be a great match for him Chael Sonnen. Bisping sucks…People were amping him up like he was the next new flavor of ice cream. What the hell were people thinking? He beat nobody after nobody…His marketabilty is crap now. Yeah he is an exciting fight against Joe MMA but does not have the technique nor the power to succed at this weight class either. Send him to CAge Rage or Strike Force so he can get schooled by Lawler, Nick Diaz, and Jake Shields. That shot to the head was apparently alot harder then we thought, thinking that after he fights another can he is going to comepete with Hendo….

by Da Monkey on Jul 20, 2009 12:57 PM EDT reply actions

I dunno about Bisping in the Hendo fight, I’m British and am patriotic but he’s nowhere near my favourite fighter (in fact I’d prefer Hardy or Pearson, maybe even Wilks if I was going to support a UK fighter!) but something didn’t seem right to me.

He looked VERY thin, not healthy as he has done in the past at 185 and he looked sloppy – like he did at 205 before. Since cutting to 185 he’s looked a different (and much improved) fighter – against Hendo maybe it was fear, nerves or whatever but he just looked like he was at 50% or something for some reason, I don’t think that was anywhere near the best he can do. I’m not saying he can be the best, just I don’t think we saw the best of him.

in fairness his coaches did tell him to stop circling that direction and im sure it was said before the fight but a fighters habit/instinct is hard to break and he always circles that side – even if it is extremely RETARDED!!!! yes it was RETARDED again for Kongo not to prepare more with stuffing takedowns but thats done now, ive more faith in him to go back up the ladder than Bisping.

I say give him Kang, Mcfredies, Akiyama. But i hope this card shapes up better as im planning on going :|

by neeko on Jul 20, 2009 2:52 PM EDT reply actions

I say, give him James “The Sandman” Irvin. The last time we saw Irvin was when Anderson KOed him, so both would be coming off a KO lost. Irvin, like Hendo, hit hard. If their punch lands flush, your either KO’ed or dead. Irvin is like a mid-level version of Hendo, let’s see how Bisping does against someone like that. If Bisping can’t get pass Irvin, he’s not gonna do well against Hendo in a rematch. Even Irvin vs Bisping, I’d say Irvin has the advantage.

Another good choice, Bisping vs Kendal Grove, both are very similar fighters, well-rounded speedy fighters.

by jaime on Jul 20, 2009 3:08 PM EDT reply actions

Irvin is not any kind of version of Hendo. Hendo is an Olympic wrestler with a big right hand and a chin like a dump truck. Irvin has power but the similarities end there.

everyone is so upset at bisping, like he was rude to their mother.

theyre fighters, they talk trash to hype the fight. bisping didnt say anything disrespectful until henderson called him a ‘douche’.

the real question, like someone has allready said is ‘is he coachable’?

henderson said he cicrles the wrong way into his punches, plus his cornerman told him to stop it.

his punches did look pretty weak too.

I cant wait to see the next fight hendo has and in the opening intro on PPV seeing bisping as one of his highlights… i would hope the UFc includes the 2nd shot as well :) :) :) :)

by holyintellect on Jul 20, 2009 4:28 PM EDT reply actions

Nate Quarry would be my first pick for him. He needs a competitive fight against a guy he has a chance of beating. Kendal Grove would be my second choice.

Cote might be biting off more than he can chew. Bisping needs to add some submissions to his game, because his pepper and move striking style is not enough to hang with anyone in the top 10 of the division, who has the chops to hit back.

It was enough to get by Leben (his best win to date— No one counts Hamill) and he can probably still get W’s against guys of that caliber. Bisping has also lost whatever mystique he might have had by virtue of having a good chin. He will be easier to KO now that everyone has seen how it’s done.

He needs a win in his next fight to keep his chin up (pun intended)- so they better give him someone that is respectable, but at his ability level and he’ll do fine. He may never get as close to a title fight again, though, unless he develops a ground game. Might be too late for that though.

secondly…henderson is an ugly son of a! but sure did take care of that loud mouth gonk, bisping. well done. mad props.
if i was that ref i wouldn’t have stopped dan until big mouths head was a puddle of shite.

now bisping wants a rub a dub with some other douche from manchester…big fuckin wow. he’s prob jus gonna spring about the ring again like a big nancy.
also, do you not thing from the back bisping looks like a finger?! just a thought.

conclusion: bisping…do us all favour and crawl back up your moms ass. no one wants to know.

stay fresh, good people and give my love to your old lady ;)

by yer uncle tone dawg on Jul 21, 2009 3:50 PM EDT reply actions

Bisping had a bad fight, he obviously was not thinking clearly or in the right mind set for this…circling towards hendo’s right, not being offensive enough. Obviously was a a bit too quick for him to take on someone with Dan’s experience.

I believe what he needs to(and can)do is win a couple fights, improve his game, experience, and mental toughness and then give Hendo another go.

Bisping vs. Cote, or Akiyama…Both would be top level fighters and big matches for Bisping. This would show what he really can do and be a great way for him to prove if he can bounce back.
