PrideFC was AMAZING! I will forever miss the good old days of Pride in their prime. You guys must not have watched if you have to ask, what’s missed.

pride to me was the golden age of mma. I really enjoy mme today, but there hasnt been anything recent that can compare to the goosebumps I had watching some of Prides mega fights. To this day, i still think that most of mma’s biggest fights took place in pride.
FYI: I have 3 of those Pride T-shirts, and a skully to match!
War Pride!

agreed, I’d have to say go watch a video of highlight reel PRIDE fights compared to UFC fights and you’ll understand why we miss PRIDE so much. DREAM tries to capture that same style but it hasn’t worked the same as the old PRIDE days.

i miss the rules or lack thereof. the way the rounds and judging was set up. it almost makes the ufc look a little watered down. GIVE ME SOME SOCCER-KICKS B

You can buy the reissued Pride shirts from the UFC.com store if anyone’s interested.

Just the fact that at its peak(in my opinion)was the best MMA promotion out ther with the top fighters in the world. Also it was an alternative to the UFC cause they were going head to head. Not like right now how the UFC has no equall and has all the top fighters and the rules they had back ther were more hardcore and ruthless, I could keep on going but i think you got my point.

i miss the rules. i dont miss the constantly bad match ups and over use of crappy japanese fighters to make up full cards. plus bas rutten/steven quaddros > goldberg\rogan (and i like rogan)

if it was the best mma promotion out there they would not have sold out!! they had alot of good guys / fights but in the end we see who the best mma promotion is ! that’s the UFC

It’s a smart move to have Lorenzo out in front. I do believe that he will eventually eclipse Dana.
by Muscle Dolphin on Jul 19, 2009 10:55 PM EDT reply actions
It’s his company. If he wanted to eclipse Dana, he would have done it already.
by RealDrew on Jul 19, 2009 11:11 PM EDT up reply actions
I think muscle dolphin is right. I can see Lorenzo leading a lot more negotiations from now on after the CC success, particularly a Fedor negotiation. Dana is far too emotional and unstable for such big negotiations, so slowly but surely we could see Dana taking more of a back seat and being less the public face of the UFC, which IMO is a good thing. It’s a lot easier for potential partners/sponsors/fighters to take seriously an established successful businessman like Lorenzo, than it is a crazy, bald headed, wannabee gangster with torrettes.

haha…i like your last sentence, especially the last word describing Dana.

OFF TOPIC I wonder who mark coleman should face next matchmacker anyone? loser of thiago/jardine? bones jones?
by COlin D on Jul 19, 2009 11:41 PM EDT up reply actions
houston alexander or chuck or couture would be good ones
by markg on Jul 20, 2009 2:24 AM EDT up reply actions
yeah after couture loses by sub to nog, give a “gimme” win with coleman. then couture can fight brock again, since brock will also be submitted by nog. /hope
by eightyproof on Jul 20, 2009 5:06 AM EDT up reply actions
Couture has never been submitted and the last person Nog submitted (NOT including Big Tim, who has terrible sub defense) was 2006. Unlikely.
I say if Randy, Cro Cop, and Carwin win – which I think will happen.
Randy – title shot
Cro Cop vs Carwin – #1 contender
Dos Santos vs Cain – realize loser of this fight is an up and comer with 2 straight losses but hey, gotta take some risks.
Nog vs Kongo – again, realize this would leave Kongo with 2 straight losses and Nog with 3 so they might wanna give Nog a gimme. (maybe Kongo – Mir?)
by WB on Jul 20, 2009 9:38 AM EDT up reply actions
Actually Couture has been submitted by Valentijn Overeem, Mikhail Illoukhine, and Enson Inoue.
by heavymetalnick on Jul 20, 2009 3:59 PM EDT up reply actions
Wow I must have really spaced out, rough morning at work. Think I was looking at Nog’s record.
Stand corrected but regardless, his last submission loss was close to 7 years ago so my statement of “Unlikely” remains.

I cant wait for the new season of TUF!!! I also hope that one day il get the chance to go to a fan expo like that, I think what lorenzo, dana and co are doing for the sport and esprcially the fans is great and they should be creditted for bringing the fans as close to the stars and the ufc!!!!
Liddell is an amazing inductee into the hall of fame and despite his critics is probably the most exciting fighter to ever fight in mma!!! QUALITY!!!
