agreed. He seems humble and he wants to learn.

How can you not like that.

by Bennie Blanco on Jul 18, 2009 12:08 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Kimbo has always had the right mind state for MMa. It was all the promotions fault[EXC] for making him look bad.

Too bad for him that he’s not a little younger, for he could have gone far.. Kimbo is too old to make it, and can’t rely on his stand-up when all these MMa fighters plan to take him down and sub or bang him out, but yeah’ Kimbo (imo) has always had a positive attitude, and is definitely putting forth the effort to be good.

I dont “hate” on the man!

I’m not a fan, but have been one of his staunchest defenders here. However, apparently he is NOT what he projects: humble, willing to learn, etc!!! Remember, guys and gals, Bas said he was LAZY and HATED to train.

by chefdaddy on Jul 18, 2009 7:32 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

I was about to bring that up Chef. He had one of the all-time greats willing to train him, but Fergie got himself kicked out by thinking he knew more. Anyone who was serious about being a professional MMA fighter and had that kind of opportunity would shut the hell up and follow every instruction to a T. Unless he was just a fucking moron, but that can’t be it, can it?

I never hated on Kimbo! I just hate the way EliteXC exploited him!

by JOhn G on Jul 18, 2009 8:52 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Whoa lets save judgement until you see how Kimbo acts in the show. I think Bas is just covering his tracks personally. I’m still not a fan of Kimbo because I don’t think his skill set will get him far but I have to agree with everyone that Kimbo was just exploited and that made a lot of fans mad. The guy is taking the best possible route to earn the fans respect and I won’t cut on him until I know how he does. Hopefully he makes it past the first round of his first fight.

CES, it will be very interesting to how they edit the show and portray him.

by chefdaddy on Jul 19, 2009 11:08 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Judging by his attitude in a lot of recent interviews. I think he may have lost in round one or two, however I think the UFC is still going to offer him a spot on the UFN card. So they will probably edit the show to make him look as humble as he does now. Show him training hard. but I’m going off a hunch, I still will watch just to see how it plays out.

by Cogito Ergo Sum on Jul 19, 2009 12:34 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

you are dumb for even coming to that conclusion.

by cbass on Jul 22, 2009 10:52 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Mr. Beanie can I ask how old are you? Is it just me or you are just plain stupid…???? Hmmmm!

by gaara on Jul 18, 2009 10:52 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

That seems a little classless to say that. I agree with him that a humble person who wants to learn the sport is fine by me. I think you look plain stupid for posting such a response to a comment like that.

by Cogito Ergo Sum on Jul 19, 2009 10:35 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

I agree as well. Maybe it’s just me but I’m more impressed when a fighter is humble/respectful. I’d like to see him do well. I think running him through TUF is a great way to get his feet wet in the UFC w/out throwing him to the wolves right away.

those rumors have to be just rumors.

Agreed. I doubt he would be buddy buddy with Sims if he exposed him.

just to think, Kimbo Slice is already more humble & classy than the HW Champ… Brock…. :(

by kibbled_bits on Jul 18, 2009 12:13 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Dude…Thats an insult!…but totally true.

Kimbo is just a street thug who doesn’t know any better.

Brock has been around and is worth millions. He should not act like such a putz.

Verdict: I like Kimbo more than Brock

by Verdict on Jul 18, 2009 1:01 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

F*ck humble and classy… just be yourself. This isn’t the movies. These guys – all the greats – go for blood. They train there ass off. A lot of the best have hit the other after they were out, or held a choke to long. This is a fight, a real kick your teeth in fight. So, go play teken and watch the karate kid.

by JTK5 on Jul 18, 2009 1:14 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

I have to reiterate that the weekend posters are terrible. Lol this has to be hands down one of the most uneducated comments ever written. You obviously do not care about the progress of MMA if you are telling us its ok to punch an unconcious man continuously and hold a choke a little longer than it needs to be held. What do you want our sport to look like a joke, a barbarian bloodsport so it can be removed from television like it once was, banned in almost all of the states. You should go play mortal kombat if you want brutality. gtfoh

yes i do

by hddavidson on Jul 19, 2009 6:12 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

i have to laugh at classy..but he is at least realistic about his lack of skill sets..you gotta wonder how long it would take to know someone if a year is not long enough..
i wish him luck really cuz he has powerful hands..but i don’t think there is much else left in the old guy to improve fast enough to be a real contender..

kimbo is gonna get KTFO or submitted early in the show. i cant wait haha.

hope he makes it all the way.

And then you woke up!!

by Pierre on Jul 18, 2009 1:16 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Taping is already over for this, isn’t it? Kimbo seems to be in a great mood and really into the UFC, which leads me to believe he did at least well enough to be brought back for more fights in the UFC, if he didn’t win it all.

At the very least Kimbo B Sliced realizes how complex and difficult the world of MMA is. It appears more and more that the handlers at ELITE XC were the ones that screwed hime over and never let Kimbo b well Kimbo. You know what I’m sayin.??!!ii

by dandeman on Jul 18, 2009 1:58 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

he was in the ufc no matter what happened

by hddavidson on Jul 19, 2009 6:14 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Wrong, you are only a UFC fighter if you fight on a UFC card. The show doesn’t count. He would have to be brought on the TUF Finale show to be a legit UFC fighter.

Time will tell, but if I were to guess, I would think they will have him on the UFN/TUF Finale.

by Stagger-Lee on Jul 19, 2009 6:18 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Sounds like from this video that he won a fight and lost his next one.

I bet he lost to Roy Nelson and had that big white gut all up in his beard.

by DirtyML on Jul 18, 2009 2:08 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

I was kind of thinking the same thing. The UFC probably gave him someone he matches up well with for the first fight and then once he gets into the 2nd or 3rd round he will lose to some grappler.

That way, the UFC can still put him in the undercard of the Finale and keep him around for a while.

by ProKev on Jul 18, 2009 2:26 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

I’m sure we’ll see Kimbo fight on the live finale, regardless of where he placed in the standings. He’ll definitely help put people in seats.

by Fred on Jul 18, 2009 3:05 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

LOL. He’s learning to catch punches with his jaw.

Sounds like a hell of a plan Mr. Ferguson. Keep up then good work.

U no wu I sayin?

by MongoMan on Jul 18, 2009 3:12 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

haha its worked so well for tito and matt hughes why not catch it on the jaw.

by day1er on Jul 18, 2009 5:08 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

I have been saying this stuff for a while, but you guys hated him when he was in EliteXC. Now that he is in the UFC, alot of you have changed. It was all EliteXC’s fault. Anyone who has seen an interview with Kimbo knows he never thought he was the best. He just wanted to be a real fighter, not a youtube one. Anyone who trains hard and stays humble has my respect.
