UFC 100 medical suspensions and injuries

The Nevada State Athletic Commission (NSAC) today issued its list of medical suspensions for UFC 100, which took place on Saturday, July 11 from the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Based on the amount of hemoglobin on the blood-soaked canvas, it should come as no surprise that several of the fighters who competed on the landmark card will have to take some time off to heal their respective injuries.
However, one injury that was not oozing during the action is perhaps the one that most fans (and females) are most interested.
UFC Welterweight Champion Georges St. Pierre endured more than two rounds of competition with a strained groin muscle. "Rush" will have to serve a minimum one-month suspension and cannot return to action until January 2010 unless he gets medical clearance to do so sooner.
Other notable and lengthy health-related suspensions were dished out to Yoshihiro Akiyama for a broken bone in his face and Jim Miller with a damaged right shoulder/clavicle.
Here is the complete list of UFC 100 injuries and their medical instructions:
Frank Mir: Suspended until Sept. 10 and no contact until Aug. 26
Georges St. Pierre: Must have right groin injury cleared by orthopedic doctor or no contest until Jan. 8, 2010. Suspended until at least Aug. 11 and no contact until Aug. 2
Thiago Alves: Suspended until Aug. 11 and no contact until Aug. 2
Michael Bisping: Suspended until Sept. 10 and no contact until Aug. 26
Yoshihiro Akiyama: Suspended until Sept. 10 and no contact until Aug. 26 because of a left orbital fracture. He must clear the injury with an ophthalmologist or no contest until Jan. 8, 2010
Stephan Bonnar: Suspended until Aug. 11 and no contact until Aug. 2
Mac Danzig: Suspended until Sept. 10 with a laceration and no contact until Aug. 26
Jim Miller: Must have right shoulder/clavicle x-rayed and cleared by a doctor or no contest until Jan. 8, 2010
Jake O’Brien: Suspended until Aug. 11 and no contact until Aug. 2
TJ Grant: Suspended until Aug. 2 and no contact until July 26
CB Dollaway: Suspended until Aug. 11 and no contact until Aug. 2
Matt Grice: Suspended until Sept. 10 and no contact until Aug. 26
Shannon Gugerty: Must clear low back pain with a doctor or no contest until Jan. 8, 2010
Just a quick reminder: Fighters often return to action much quicker once doctors give them the green light. The lengthy suspensions are just a precaution in most cases.

sad loss for Danzig, he’s got so much talent and should’ve won easily in his last fight too over Neer if he had his head in the game..

I used to think Danzig would come in and do serious damage but since TUF he has looked average at the very best.

Ya he’s a solid fighter but seems a bit undersized to me I think he would be best to drop down to 145 and head to the WEC.

IMO, Danzig beat Guida. I was literally baffled with Joe Rogan saying Guida won a decision (obviously before the official annoucement). I dont think Danzig should leave the UFC, but he needs to start getting it together.

Jim Miller isn’t anything for anybody. If he’s given another chance it will be the last one.

Danzig was peaked on the show, he has had minimal improvement if any since then, he will be in and out of the ufc his entore career making very little impact in that time………sad but true, I liked Mac :-(

What? No word on Lesnar? And what about the status of his wife Sable after he “got on top of her” after his fight with Mir?
