Lesnar is a b*tch

by Anonymousf*ck on Jul 13, 2009 9:57 AM EDT reply actions

UFC 100 Review:

Borck was dominant and impressed me with his game plan. He is charismatic and loves to play up the role of the villain. However, I don’t like him because he does not represent the sport with honor and integrity. His attitude is indicative of someone who has yet to realize the sacrifices and hard work of the true warriors that have laid the groundwork for him to make his $$$.

GSP = Excellence. Watching him is like watching Michael Jordan or Mike Tyson or Tiger Woods in their prime.
I feel very lucky to watch a special athlete like GSP.

Goldie and Rogan irritated me to no end with their commentary during the Sexy/Belcher tilt. Their blatant homerism really disappointed me. The fight was close but I think Sexy squeaked by , 29-28. He got Rd 1 and Rd 2.

Congrats to ViolentMike!

I will call you the Prophet. The MMA Gods answered your call. The ref should have stopped Hendo if Bisping fans didn’t want to see their boy get cracked another one for good measure.

Fitch impressed me with his control and sub attempts even though he was boring…again.

Looking forward to 101!

by OJR on Jul 13, 2009 10:02 AM EDT up reply actions

who gives a damn about honor and integrity, fights are much more interesting when there is bad blood, brock’s interviews are funny gsp’s are boring as hell and george would be much more fun if he had tito’s kind of personality and brock is the only guy left in modern mma who wins by taking the guy down and destroy him with an old school beatdown..

War brock!

and gsp could do nothing to alves rather than taking him down, he didn’t damage him al all and thiago always got back up.

by shamo84 on Jul 13, 2009 10:13 AM EDT up reply actions

So i’m just guessing but was this the first ufc event you have watched?? Please go back to watching wwe……..

by Dragon on Jul 13, 2009 10:17 AM EDT up reply actions

no it wasn’t and I have never watched the wwe.

by shamo84 on Jul 13, 2009 10:20 AM EDT up reply actions

shamo84,

“who gives a damn about honor and integrity?” Are you kidding me. Your entertainment is not paramount. Makes me wonder why I fought for this country sometimes. Thank God you are the minority on here.

When I fought, guys like you dropped out of our camp in the first week. It usually takes a very strong person to want to continue training and learning when you’re sore in every muscle in your body, your joints are tweaked, you have a fat lip, black eye, and mat burn on your head. I only saw the guys with honor, integrity, and grit stick with it. In other words, men who were principled. If you were ever a part of that, you would view it differently. Hey, it’s not too late. Join a training center.

by Punch You in the Ovaries on Jul 13, 2009 10:23 AM EDT up reply actions

Well honestly how can you like tito and lesnar and not GSP?? And to say Alves took no damage is so far from true it is not even funny, Georges took him to the brick oven and made a pizza out of his face. Seriously look up some photos of thiago after the fight, then say he took no damage. And the only way thiago got up from a gsp takedown is when the bell rang, except twice.

by Dragon on Jul 13, 2009 10:25 AM EDT up reply actions

Dragon’s right…GSp did plenty of damage which is a testimate to Alves’ chin

by McArthur on Jul 13, 2009 10:28 AM EDT up reply actions

shamo84, you have just been pwned!! Thanks for the help Punch and thanks for fighting for our country!! What branch you in buddy?? And yeah honor and integrety to me is entertainment!!!

by Dragon on Jul 13, 2009 10:35 AM EDT up reply actions

do you always get to conclusions without knowing a damn thing?

I have been doing bjj for a year and I haven’t quit yet.lol..

I don’t have to get along with brock lesnar, I will never even meet the guy. he is paid to entertain. to see ken shamrock get smashed after all the talking was fun, same with bisping and mir, gsp is so humble just because when he was a kid everybody used to beat the s**t out of him.. he is a great fighter but I would appreciate him much more if he created a little bit of anymosity before his fights.

by shamo84 on Jul 13, 2009 10:44 AM EDT up reply actions

“he is a great fighter but I would appreciate him much more if he created a little bit of anymosity before his fights.”

Your really digging yourself a hole with some of these comments

by McArthur on Jul 13, 2009 10:48 AM EDT up reply actions

shamo84-

That’s a fair opinion and I won’t flame you for it.

Let me ask you this, though:

Would it ever occur to you to act like Borck did after you beat someone you were rolling around with?

If you did, what would your sensei say or do?

Do you think you would be in the school for long if you acted like Borck?

by OJR on Jul 13, 2009 10:49 AM EDT up reply actions

funny, you almost made it look like I cared about your opinion! :-)

by shamo84 on Jul 13, 2009 10:50 AM EDT up reply actions

With that response, now I know for a fact that you don’t practice any martial arts.

:)

by OJR on Jul 13, 2009 10:52 AM EDT up reply actions

OJR, at least read what I write, I would probably hate brock lesnar if I knew him, but he doesn’t have to be my friend, he is paid to entertain me and he does, he is funny and unpredictable.

I can already tell you what gsp will say after he beats martin kampmann:

he did good for his first title match, this loss will make him better bla bla bla..

by shamo84 on Jul 13, 2009 10:56 AM EDT up reply actions

so you prefer entertaining smack talk more than an entertaining fight…there’s no way you can tell me Brock’s performance was more entertaining or impressive than GSP’s

by McArthur on Jul 13, 2009 10:58 AM EDT up reply actions

I am done talking to you. I gotta study..

and brock was way more impressive than gsp.

by shamo84 on Jul 13, 2009 11:00 AM EDT up reply actions

Hey there are a whole lot of presumptions going on here about this sham04 fella!!!

I don’t want to leave myself open for a flaming here but I can loosly see where he is coming from.

I am not condoning Brocks actions but I too like a bit of theatre in fights and lets face it, so does the majority.

What do we remember most about Ali? His fantasticly quoteable interviews then his boxing.

What put the UFC on the map?? Tito vs Ken.

Hype and personalities make the real big fights even bigger, that is a fact of life.

by Nick J on Jul 13, 2009 11:13 AM EDT up reply actions

shamo84 you gotta study?? I thought high school started in august?? O wait you are probably studying to be a doctor right?? And no way this guy has been taking bjj for a year, not with that kind of attitude, what a tard……..

by shamo84 on Jul 13, 2009 11:19 AM EDT up reply actions

Well said Punch. If these people actually knew what it meant to work for years to get to the stage of being a MMA fighter on the big stage they would realise how to respect each other and be humble.

The same can be said about Lesnar who got there the easy way and has been with the WWE for years and has forgotten what it means to be a sportsman. I understand some of it is good to hype a fight etc but a lot of fighters do it with a lot more integrity. Don’t get me wrong I do not hate Brock for his actions over the weekend but it just shows me he has a long way to go to be a true champion.

I don’t fight, I don’t want to fight, but I know the code, you have to have guts to get in that cage, and respect for your opponent, regardless of what was said before a fight. Lesnar, should have kept his mouth shut, shook Mir’s hand, and walked out of the cage with his belt.

Not being a fighter, but a consumer, I can say this, I will NEVER buy another ppv if Lesnar is on it. He is a punk who belongs back with the WWE if he is going to act like this. NO class at all.

And as a business person, who understands sponsorships and their inner workings like you guys understand the fight game, let’s just say Dana is going to be doing some bootlicking with Bud Light, and the rate for the sponsorship just went down……..

by The Slovak on Jul 13, 2009 1:42 PM EDT up reply actions

Slovak-

Here here!

by OJR on Jul 13, 2009 2:12 PM EDT up reply actions

The ref was behind Henderson and didn’t have a chance to get in and stop it before Hendo dropped that elbow. In my view, what Henderson did was every bit as classless as anything Lesnar did, except Lesnar didn’t run the risk of crippling someone by drinking a Coors Light. Throwing a shot like that when he absolutely knew Bisping was already out cold just because he doesn’t like Bisping is pathetic, and there is no logical way to defend what Henderson did and trash Brock.

Post-fight nonsense aside, Lesnar really showed a ton of improvement once again. Instead of wailing away almost out of control after getting the takedown, this time he stayed composed and worked himself into a dominant position, trapped a world-class ground fighter in a position where he couldn’t defend himself and took him apart. Like it or not, Lesnar is improving by leaps and bounds every time out.

by PW on Jul 13, 2009 10:14 AM EDT up reply actions

We will agree to disagree on Borck’s attitude, PW.

There is no questioning his dominance, however.

Hendo was within the rules, period. And I am not a Hendo nuthugger, either.

by OJR on Jul 13, 2009 10:28 AM EDT up reply actions

what was soooo impressive about Brock’s win? What looked different from the Herring fight? His stand up? His GnP?? Not seeing much difference to be honest

by McArthur on Jul 13, 2009 10:37 AM EDT up reply actions

Agreed Mac. It’s just pure size and strength that Mir had no answer for. Even then Lesnar got caught in the opening seconds of the second round. Lesnar’s standup is unimpressive and I don’t think his chin will hold up to a good shot.

by Adam T. on Jul 13, 2009 10:42 AM EDT up reply actions

Borck was dominant. He executed a great game plan and controlled Mir’s head. He also took the fight to the ground when it was obvious that his stand up was shaky.

I don’t like Borck’s attitude but I give credit where its due.

by OJR on Jul 13, 2009 10:47 AM EDT up reply actions

Lol yeah Brock hasn’t really improved anything. I think he’ll be fighting like this for a long time to come. As for where the ref was standing, if you know anything about refing you know its their job to have the correct view and if a ref is standing behind someone then he can’t correctly see the fight. That would make it the officials fault still that the fight wasn’t stopped sooner. but I still think Hendo should not have said he threw that extra bomb to shut Bisping up cause I don’t think anyone noticed/cared until he said something

by Cogito Ergo Sum on Jul 13, 2009 10:47 AM EDT up reply actions

Instead of getting the takedown and going all Koko the Monkey with hammer fists, Brock put Mir, who is probably the third best HW ground fighter in the world behind Fedor and Nog, into a position on the ground where Mir could not mount any offense or defend himself from Brock.

And while Henderson’s shot was legal, it was comletely unnecessary. Bisping was unconscious. He wasn’t hurt or dazed. He was done. Henderson knew it, and he threw a shot that had the potential to cripple Bisping, all because Bisping talked too much trash. So what. Mir talked just as much about Brock. Everyone wants to cry about Brock not respecting other fighters and not respecting some grand ideal of MMA, but what Henderson did was far less respectful of his opponent and the sport. It was a total chicken shit move on Henderson’s part.

by PW on Jul 13, 2009 10:48 AM EDT up reply actions

OJR – I agree with giving Brock credit but I’m calling a spade a spade…I didn’t see any improvement other than not losing this time…Saturday’s performance looked like any other hammer fist victory

I don’t see anybody beating Brock in the UFC HW division.

Maybe Carwin. Maybe…

by OJR on Jul 13, 2009 11:07 AM EDT up reply actions

this is getting ridiculous! to take a top 3 BJJ HW fighter and pound his face into the mat like that isn’t impressive?

by shamo84 on Jul 13, 2009 11:09 AM EDT up reply actions

No. Not when you have a 50-60lbs weight advantage and all you can do is pin and punch your opponent. If you have any appreciation for the art in mixed martial arts it’s not that exciting. He is a dominant HW, he’ll be around for a long time the way it looks like, he has tremendous power and I give credit for his past wrestling accomplishments but I don’t care for his fights and I don’t consider him a skillful fighter.

by DSmith on Jul 13, 2009 11:55 AM EDT up reply actions

Truth, unfortunately…….. :-(

by Dragon on Jul 13, 2009 12:42 PM EDT up reply actions

by James S on Jul 13, 2009 1:46 PM EDT up reply actions

wait till Brock’s 35 (3 years), when his training can’t keep up with his frame…it’ll happen ;)

by McArthur on Jul 13, 2009 1:49 PM EDT up reply actions

Agreed Goldie / Rogan are getting a bit hit and miss these days. This has happened a few times but Joe getting all emotional over Belcher after he clearly lost was disgusting.

Lesnar showed how capable he is if he gets you on your back and holds you there while swinging his sledghammers in your face. Although I still think he will crumble if he gets hit hard a couple of times. He is tailor made for a Fedor highlight reel.

GSP is unstoppable at WW. Alves is gonna come back a much better fighter from the experience and looked game all 5 rounds with no let up.

Bisping got KTFO’d. I was saying WOW, OMG, WOW for like 5 mins afterwards!!

Akiyama won EASILY.

Fitch looked great even though he didn’t finish the tough Brazilian BJJ black belt it was a really nice technical exchange.

Dong Hyun Kim looked great too and outclassed a tough TJ Grant. He must be really strong cos TJ couldn’t budge him all the way through the fight. When he starts finishing people he will be someone to be scared of.

Jones looked like he was showboating too much and not really doing much but finished nicely with his makeshift choke!

Danzig – Miller delivered just what you expected and was hard fought from beginning to end.

Coleman should retire and Bonnars best days are behind him.

All in all a good but not amazing night of fights.

Shame they messed up the scheduling for their milestone event.

P.S. Sorry for the long post. (i’m bored at work and trying to look like I’m working at the same time!!)

I agree for the most part, but I saw Jones as fighting a smart fight and not wanting to get smothered by Blanket O Brien. As soon as he hurt him with that spinning elbow he was able to get him to the ground and choke him out. Which I say good on him.

by dandeman on Jul 13, 2009 11:05 AM EDT up reply actions

Completely agree with your entire 1st post OJR! Great stuff!

by john G on Jul 13, 2009 11:54 AM EDT up reply actions

Why is everyone hating on Brock! Because he said things that every fighter’s probably wanted to say but was too scared to say. I only have a problem with him apologizing!! Stick with your convictions! He meant every word of what he said so the apology to me is a waste of time and just UFC PR control.

That said, the UFC needs a guy like Brock to be the badass, the guy everyone wants to see lose. He’ll help others get fans too because the fans will root for whoever he fights. People will tune in hoping to see him eat his words. He’s good for business even acting like an asshole!!

Props to Coleman!! Was my favorite fighter for a long time. good to see him in the win column but I don’t know where he can go in this division. He’s basically fighting for paychecks at this point not for any title contention.

Bonnar on the other hand hasn’t looked good since The TUF finale with Forrest and will probably be put on some lame job as Dana won’t get rid of him, but he is done in that division. If you can’t get by 44 year old Coleman, you can’t be considered relevant.

Akiyama won the fight!! There I said it. Now for all the stand up fans listen up. Leg kicks will not win you a decision!!! You can kick a leg 12 times and they can take you down twice and they will be ahead in the score cards. Here’s why. It is much easier to leg kick an opponent compared to getting a takedown. Takedowns difficulty level is why a fighter gets more points for them as opposed to a leg kicker. Don’t get me wrong, leg kicks are important and needed to use in a fight, but don’t think a decision is going to a guy just because he kicked the shit out of a leg.

GSP will rein supreme in the WW division until maybe a Damien Maia type arrives that can neutralize his GNP. Forget the Silva fight!! He can’t hold Silva down like that and he’ll get mauled on his feet. He needs to just do what he is doing. Destroy the division.

100k nice bonusses and congats to those who got it, I thought GSP and Alves would get fight of the night. Alves definatley fought his ass off never giving up and getting up over and over again where many have just wilted. Much props to him.

Last thing is to all of Jon Fitch’s future opponents!! Don’t waste and precious energy trying to choke him out. Have you not watched any film on him, he is almost unchokable.

congrats to hendo for his huge amazing ko. i was in the small group that said he finish it in the second round. im happy to finally see bisping get ktfo and that hendo has a new highlight

p.s. alves looked way better against gsp than fitch. i truely believe that when gsp moves up to middleweight alves will dominate just like how gsp did. he showed he could stand back up with the strongest guy in the division and he was throwing gsp around while they were clinching. he would dominate fitch in a rematch

Im a big brock lesnar fan and have been since his wwe days. As i transitioned from a diehard wrestling fan to diehard mma hes been my guy and im not totally down with the way he handled himself, but honestly i wasnt to annoyed cuz seriously…frank murr deserved it lol. Im sorry that guy talked so much trash and is so in love with himself that if he could bend enough he would suck his own u know what lol. Everyone forgets when brock beat randy he was totally professional and respectable. What that dude just disappeared? Is brock a shmuck? probably but honestly if u lost in a fight or any competitve event to a guy when u made a dumb mistake and u were beating his ass and he talked trash for more then a year about u and was so in love with himself would u not have been that freakin pumped and wanted to throw the win in his face? i sure as hell would and glad brock beat frank with that horseshoe from up his ass lol. He didnt like that guy plan in simple thats why he acted how he acted, and i cant blame him frank is a douche.

I really don’t know how everyone is shocked by the Sexymama/Belcher decision. I was really surprised Belcher had one judge on his side. I thought Sexymama controlled the fight on the ground, and had the edge every round in the standup game.

I’m really kinda upset we didn’t get to see the Bonnar/Coleman fight.

Annnnnd… is it really any surprise that GSP won like he did? GSP watched film of the last time Alves lost – Fitch and ran with a very similar game plan. GSP did what he did with Kos and most recently Hughes – win the standup with good flurries and toss in an artful take down. This is why this guy is widely considered one of the best fighters in the world.

Heh, watching ESPN now – Hendo KOing Bisp[ing ws the #3 top play from the weekend – as it damn well should have been.

Now continue with the Lesnar speak.

by Luppers on Jul 13, 2009 9:59 AM EDT reply actions

In a split decision like the Akiyama Belcher fight there really is no winner anyway. I don’t know why everyone is so adament about getting the split decision called their way. To me a split decision says that your not indecisively better than that person and you could have done better. When both fighters fight hard like Griffen Bonnar I then there is no loser. get my drift?

by Cogito Ergo Sum on Jul 13, 2009 10:04 AM EDT up reply actions

Maybe to some people, but a win is a win. I’m sure any guy going to a decision thinks he could have done better.

I’d take a Split Decision win over a Split Decision loss any day. Barley winning > almost winning

by Syn on Jul 13, 2009 1:14 PM EDT up reply actions

Belcher lost the fight plain and simple. I was 4 for 5 on picks for the ppv but got the bisping/henderson fight hideously wrong. I still like both of the guys. Henderson looked like an animal out there the way he attacked Bisping. Bisping looked scared and unaware of what to do. GSP looked amazing. The scary thing is that I believe he could have beaten Alves at his own game if he wanted to, which is obviously the standup. The people that say that he is afraid to standup with anybody are dead wrong in my opinion. Why mess with a sure thing. He’s not going to get swept or even close to submitted. Once he has a guy down they aren’t going anywhere. Jake Shields would get fckin obliterated and wouldn’t sniff a sub on GSP.

by Adam T. on Jul 13, 2009 9:59 AM EDT reply actions

I dont think that GSP would even consider taking Sheilds down. Granted, Im sure GSP could take him on the ground but he really doesn’t have to. Sheild’s stand up is so totally lacking when compared to many of the top 10 or so WWs in the UFC. If they went at it, I’d say GSP via KO mid through the 2nd.

by Luppers on Jul 13, 2009 10:02 AM EDT up reply actions

Exactly right Luppers. Why mess with even the slightest chance of defeat. Shields face would get picked apart and GSP would finish him in two or three rounds.

It would not be nearly as competitive as some might think, GSP would win by total distruction.

by Dragon on Jul 13, 2009 10:12 AM EDT up reply actions

Agreed Dragon. I like Jake Shields. He is well spoken and always come across well when interviewed. However, GSP is on another planet and the fight would be a walk in the park for him. Not that it is ever going to happen though.

Probably not. I still can’t beleive that the winner of Kampman/Swick gets to fight GSP!! I like both of those guys but I do not see it being competitive at all…

by Dragon on Jul 13, 2009 10:27 AM EDT up reply actions

IDK man, Swick has hands. When you have the kinda speed and power that he has, he has a shot against almost any fighter. GSP is a better fighter, but almost everyone has a puncher’s chance… See Matt Serra

Totally agree Dragon. That is going to be a mauling and I love Kampmann.

GSP-Silva at 185 than both move up in weight!!!!

Any word on when GSP is going to be back in action? How long does a muscle tear really take to heal?

by WB on Jul 13, 2009 1:41 PM EDT up reply actions

Not to take anything away from GSP, but Jake Shields is the only guy who has even a half-ass chance at winning against him right now. GSP has destroyed all of the competition, including the best strikers. The only way to beat him is to take him down and control the ground, which Shields has a good chance at doing. No one even tries to take GSP down anymore, apparently its seen as impossible.

I am definitely a Lesnar fan but if he fought Fedor this year (or possibly anytime) I believe he would get KTFO. I’m not so sure lesnar’s chin is that great and Fedor would definitely test it. I also don’t think that is would be so easy to GNP Fedor the way he did to Mir. Just my opinion.

by McArthur on Jul 13, 2009 10:08 AM EDT up reply actions

Carwin has the best shot just because of his size, but even he doesn’t have enough size to beat him. However, he needs to get past Cain, and not only beat him, but dominate him for us to take him as a legit contender to Lesnar. It’s the size factor, along with submission and striking skills that will beat Lesnar. It’s already been proven that if you cannot handle his size, you will not be able to move yet alone work any type of MMA.

by slim473 on Jul 13, 2009 10:46 AM EDT up reply actions

Nothing is PROVEN just because Mir couldn’t do anything! There are many fighters who would bring different problems to the table for Brock. As he said in his post fight interview the people he trains with get out of the positions he put Mir in so I’m sure top HW’s would as well.

by McArthur on Jul 13, 2009 10:19 AM EDT up reply actions

Bisping looked like a deer in the headlights. Even after his corner screamed at him in between rounds about moving to his left he continued to do it until the finish. He had nothing for Dan and Dan was 100% right about only needing to work on his cardio for that fight. I can’t believe I was so stupid to think otherwise.

by Adam T. on Jul 13, 2009 10:27 AM EDT up reply actions

I just find it ironic that Bisping is a former LHW that dropped to MW – and fought a guy that walks around at LHW weight, similar to was Bisping does. But yet it’s obvious that a 39y/o Hendo is dramatically bigger and stronger than Bisping.

I think we are gonna hear some excuses from Bisping and prolly drop to 170…. seriously. Look at guys like Kos and Fitch – even Swick. These guys are as big and as strong as a Bisping that is 15lbs heavier.

by Luppers on Jul 13, 2009 11:26 AM EDT up reply actions

No excuses from Bisping,

Finaly found some post fight quotes from bisping in the uk’s daily star website’s sports section.

“Henderson won it fair and square and I have nothing but praise for him."

"I honestly don’t know what happened to me out there"

"I was found wanting and I know it."

"I have seen people like my training partner ‘Rampage’ Jackson lose fights in one or two rounds and still go on to become one of the best light-heavyweight fighters of them all, so I am not disheartened in any way."

Wow, Bisping sounds more humble allready..lol

Expect him to fight in october/november

I laughed at Brock’s post-fight interview…it just kinda summed up what the UFC is becomming nowadays. UFC wants to follow in WWE’s footsteps, Vince McMahan is Dana’s hero (he’s repeatedly referred to him as a “genius”), and now we are seeing the result of the WWE type of marketing. When the UFC wasn’t in the forefront or so mainstream, the fights were the most important thing for UFC fans…now, the hype and side-stories are the #1 thing and the fights come 2nd. Old-school fans will disagree with me on this becasue they still enjoy the fights more than the childish soap-opera shit, but old-school fans are now in the minority, and the UFC is using the Vince McMahan marketing tactics to continue bringing in “new fans” by creating “good-guy vs bad-guy” hype.

From one old-school MMA fan, these are starting to become sad days for MMA…well, the UFC anyway.

Call me a hater all you want, but it’s true…the UFC is the new WWE of MMA… with story-lines, scripted interviews, villain vs hero, etc…

I for one hope Fedor doesn’t get involved with the UFC…if they continue to focus on the “sports entertainment” more than the actual “sport”, then his legacy would be better served elsewhere.

JMHO

by introvert on Jul 13, 2009 10:17 AM EDT reply actions

Lesnar would stand a chance against Fedor and for that reason you won’t see the fight happen. I don’t think Fedor will fight in the UFC no matter how much $$ they throw at him. I think Fedor would win but Lesnar would have a good chance…

Brock even admitted that he was rocked by that knee Mir hit him with so I don’t think he can take a shot very well. Febor would probably put him out.

I think Swick Vs. GSP would be an amazing fight but I would bet anything it will be like every other fight of people saying “Man GSP actually might lose this fight” and as usual GSP will dominate. The guy is in the league of his own and is too good… And I don’t even like the guy lol.

I pray to god Carwin makes it through Cain and can knock out Brock. I think Carwin would actually act like a Champion and a LOT of people would like to see him as champ.

Oh and Bisping….. Your posterboy days are over. You served your purpose as the UK goldenboy now go back to sleep.

Hendo is my new hero…

Fedor would fight any man on this planet. The only thing stopping this fight from happening as political crap that has nothing to do with “ducking”.

Get a clue.

by introvert on Jul 13, 2009 10:27 AM EDT up reply actions

Yes sir. Fedor is unreal. I would most look forward to fights between him and Machida or him and Rampage. Fedor is so highly looked up to and respected by the other fighters that it isn’t even funny. GSP has been asked many times about who the top pound for pound fighter on the planet is and he doesn’t even hesitate to say Fedor.

by Adam T. on Jul 13, 2009 10:35 AM EDT up reply actions

Everyone can talk Fedor up, and he is the greatest, but if he is outweighed by 40-60lbs to a guy like Lesnar who has atheletic ability and skills, he will lose. Lesnar is a freak, and unless you can find another freak who has his size, strength, and better MMA skills, he will win. Mir nor Couture has been able to handle the size he brings. Forget their superior submission skills, etc, etc…they cannot handle his size and strength and neither will Fedor. Brock smoothers you with his size and is so f-ing strong, he can neutralize you on the ground. It’s a nice arguement, but unless Fedor can bulk up, he won’t be able to control Lesnar if this fight ever happens. And, if he loses to Barnett, no one cares anymore.

by slim473 on Jul 13, 2009 10:38 AM EDT up reply actions

Tough to say slim. Fedor is much quicker on his feet than Mir and has vicious power. One shot on Lesnar and he is going nighty night. Also, Fedor wouldn’t get ground and pounded as easily as Mir did.

by Adam T. on Jul 13, 2009 10:45 AM EDT up reply actions

If Fedor can get picked up, suplexed, and dropped on his head, and still survive to slap on an armbar…he has a chance against Brock.

Either way, we’ll never know…Fedor is a honorable man and won’t sign a one-sided, UFC owns you for life, type of contract. And good on him for not signing one.

by introvert on Jul 13, 2009 10:49 AM EDT up reply actions

Has a chance against Brock? I think that Fedor is fully capable of beating Brock. He is much smaller, yes. But I could see him dominating Brock in the stand up. Then if it goes to the ground, we all know that Fedor is slick with his submissions. Like what happened to Randleman. Fedor will be facing a large wrestler in Barnett. Keep your eye on that fight and see how Fedor handles the fight when it inevitably goes to the ground.

That was an awesome card. GSP looked great even with the groin injury… brock clobbered mir with ease, and Bisping… well… how do you go through a full training camp and still circle into Hendo’s power alley? He walked right into that big right hand (and I’m glad he did). This has me worried about Rampage’s big fights. Between Kongo’s last performance and this from Bisping (I’m a fan of neither man), I have serious questions about the Wolfslair’s gameplanning…

by Fidel Cashflow on Jul 13, 2009 10:22 AM EDT reply actions

This card lived up to all the hype! Brock has proved he is for real with a dominating performance against one of the best, Henderson put himself back at the top at 185 with a wicked KO, GSP dominated the biggest and most dangerous 170er, Fitch won once again in a great grappling. All in all a great event with a lot of action!

Forget GSP or A. Silva fighting anyone else besides each other. In my opinion it’s prime for the New Year’s fight this year, if Silva wins. Both are in their prime, they both seem unstoppable, and it would be an awesome fight at a catch weight. I don’t want to see Silva or GSP fight anyone else in their division, because quite frankly there isn’t anyone. Yea, we can talk it up about someone, but let’s face it there just isn’t anyone to fight yet. And, for that matter if the UFC let’s both of these guys defend their title one more time, they risk a loss and the elure of “invincibility” disappears. In my opinion, NOW is the time, make it happen. This would be one of the best fights to ever happen in the UFC.

My Recap ….

Mir looked like he had no care in the world for that fight. He had a stupid smirk the whole time walking into the cage. He does not train to his full potential , and it was obvious on saturday.

Brock is a prick , but his post-fight interview was amusing to say the least. He is turning MMA into a circus and that is unfair for the true Martial Artists who might be put in the same category as Brock(an MMA fighter). With that said, I dont know who will be Brock …it will be tough

GSP was fantastic. Winner of Kampmann/Swick will fight him and then after that, I think GSP should start looking for some better comp.

Belcher won

Hendo looked great and I am glad he won. That last shot was not cheap. However has trained MMA , you would know that you are taught to keep fighting until the ref tells you to stop. I dont like to see anyone get hurt like that in this sport, but it happens. Im glad Bisbing is ok, but i am also glad he lost.

Paulo Thiago looked pretty good actually. Fitch clearly won though. It wasnt that boring…good transitions.

Congrats to Coleman for being so old and still winning. Bonnar should be out of the UFC ??? I think so. He got busted with banned substances, is injury prone , and is on a losing streak. I like him but he doesnt belong in the UFC anymore

by robbyc on Jul 13, 2009 10:45 AM EDT reply actions

It doesn’t matter who they put in front of GSP in the WW class, at this point he has shown that he will do what he wants when he wants. There is absolutely no one that is better than Alves, with exception of Fitch, that should be in GSP’s league. Fitch is probably the most deserving, but he was dominated for 5 rds and it would happen again. GSP needs to be put in tough, tough fights now while he’s in his prime. Although Swick is good, he’s just not even close to being a contender in my book.

by slim473 on Jul 13, 2009 10:52 AM EDT up reply actions

Mir looked great for the fight, just overmatched and had no answer. That smirk is like a permanent fixture on his face. I liked his postfight interview. He got humble real quick.
As much as I like Brock, it is pretty tough to defend him after his postfight interview.
Belcher lost the first and second rounds in my opinion.
I’ll never doubt Hendo again. The guy looked scary. It’s hard to say who deserves a shot against Anderson more, him or Marquardt (after he beats Maia).
Thiago did look good, just a tought fight against an animal and stud like Fitch. I would definitely look forward to seeing Paulo fight again. I also would like to see Alves and Fitch have a rematch. That would be awesome.

You’re an idiot for the hendo comment. Get off his nuts.

In the post-fight Hendo SPECIFICALLY SAID he normally would have stopped and not thrown that punch but he threw it because he dislikes Bisping.

Then nut huggers like you come on here and defend the punch saying it’s just what he’s supposed to do.

Get your facts straight before you put your lips to penis. When someone is cleanly knocked out and STIFF you don’t need to throw anymore punches. If they fall down and they’re still moving, go ahead and finish it up. If they’re STIFF and their eyes are rolled back in their head, it’s not necessary.

by KMG on Jul 13, 2009 11:51 AM EDT up reply actions

They need to bring in Lashley to beat up Brock. They are the same size and same strength. Here’s my theory about Brock and why he’s so dominant. UFC does not have any fighters that have been able to “juice” for extended periods like Brock. The WWE is an entertainment industry and they pay their fighters to look bigger and meaner. The more like a muscle bound freak that you look like, the more popular you’ll be. Has anyone noticed how different and flabby Brock looks since his WWE days. He was a muscle bound freak back then cause he was constantly juiced up and now he is starting to look flabby. Point #2, Brock is a super heavy weight, which means he’s too big for the heavy weight division. So he is basically fighting guys that are way smaller then him and he overwhelms them with his sledgehammer fists and power. The only guy that can match Brocks strengths is a formerly roided out Lasley. The UFC can put them both in a cage like a couple of circus freaks and let them battle it out so we can find out who used the higher quality roids. Brock has zero skill. He is a disgrace for the sport cause he defies what martial arts preached, which is technique will always beat strength and power. Not!

by Eddie on Jul 13, 2009 11:00 AM EDT reply actions

You know that strength alone doesn’t win fights right? there have been plenty of strength-superior fighters who have lost to smaller technical fighters.

To say Brock has no technical ability removes all of your credibility.

Long time reader, 1st time post….UFC 100 was a great event indeed. Brock, what can you say about his power and speed, I don’t think ANYONE CAN BEAT HIM. Don’t care how long he’s trained MMA, He’s too big and strong. Fedor would get the Mir treatment and Fedor’s only 6 feet tall. Brock would demolish him. GSP way too good, hes scarry, maybe he could beat Brock (kidding), but in order to beat Brock your gonna have to stick and move, and hope he doesn’t get ahold of you. Slvla/GSP will be a fight for the ages….as too the rest of the action, I wanted to see the Danzic fight, anyone know where I can view the undercards they did not show on PPV? that would be great. by introvert on Jul 13, 2009 11:40 AM EDT up reply actions

Agreed. I could see Fedor knocking out Brock. Brock took some pretty heavy shots from Mir though. Mir looked impressive when he came at Brock like that. I also see Carwin being a good test for Brock. That’s if Carwin can make it past Valasquez. If Valasquez beats Carwin (I would lean towards that) then I see Brock being able to beat Valasquez. Cains standup is in desperate need for improvement. If Brock stood toe to toe with Cain (assuming Cain didn’t make incredible improvements in his stand up) I could see Cain getting knocked out. Also, It would be pretty difficult for Cain to bring Brock to the ground for obvious reasons.

by RyanHobbs on Jul 13, 2009 11:58 AM EDT up reply actions

People will hate on Brock forever..there is no reason to try to argue with them. Tito had the same attitude, some people in life just aren’t nice. But to say that he isn’t dominant or isn’t improving simply because you don’t like him is pathetic.

GSP is an amazing athlete with above average takedown ability and average MMA skills. He dominates the score cards, not his opponents. The man can’t finish fights. He dominated Alves in the wrestling department but forgot to dominate in striking and jiu jitsu. It’s fun until you realize it’s going all five rounds and then you want to go get drunk.

Hendo beat Bisping not because he necessarily has better skills, but just because Bisping is a moron with less experience. Within 10 seconds of the fight I said Bisping was going to get KOd because he was circling toward the right hand. Everyone knows you don’t circle toward the power hand. That’s exactly what happened and that’s exactly why he got KOd. Bisping was too amped up from lack of experience and made a rookie mistake that his corner should have pointed out going into round 2.

Who gives a fuck about Belcher and Sexyama? Belcher will never be a great fighter. Sexyama was undefeated and had never been to a decision before coming to the UFC. He comes to the UFC and a bottom of the totum pole fighter takes him to a decision. Shows you why the UFC is #1. So again, I ask, who gives a fuck; they both suck. If Belcher wanted to win that he should have worked his cardio harder in training; you can’t gas out in round 1 and complain about losing a fight.

Mark coleman sucks and Bonnar sucks even worse. Bonnar has gone backwards since the TUF finale with Griffin.

Ahh, but Tito was forging his own path back in the day, when he was flipping people off and pissing in their corn flakes. One could make the argument that Tito’s attitude and antics saved the UFC’s ass back in the day. Brock is just being a dick, and the last thing MMA fans should want is more WWE antics at this point.

GSP is an amazing athlete with the best wrestling in mma and way above average mma skills. He finished Serra, Hughes and Penn. It would take a truck to finish Fitch and the injury that GSP sustained in the Alves fight undoubtedly slowed him down. Give some credit to his competition KMG.
Hendo has an iron chin, world class wrestling and vicious power in his punches. He didn’t have to worry about getting hit by Bisping or getting taken down by him. How much better does it get? And did you even watch the fights? Bisping’s cornerman was screaming at the top of his friggin lungs to stop circling to his left.

by Adam T. on Jul 13, 2009 12:21 PM EDT up reply actions

GSP is only doing what it takes to beat certain types of opponents. It would be suicide to go in there and start trading with a guy like Alves….Alves’ weakness is on the ground, so that’s what GSP did. Not the most glamourizing way toward victory, but it’s what he had to do under the circumstances. And, I don’t know which fight you were watching, but every time GSP did anything to try to mount a grappling attack, Alves swept him and got up. Why would he continue trying to position for subs if his opponent was getting up every time he did? GSP was fucking Alves up when he stayed inside his gaurd…if it ain’t broke don’t fix it.

What is funny about the Brock situation is that if he entered the UFC with the same collegiate wrestling credentials, but took the Matt Hughes route and didn’t work for the WWE, all the UFC fanboys would be agreeing that he’s a jugernaut (ala Hughes back in the day).

His domination of the UFC HW division is doing nothing but proving that the UFC’s HW division sucks ass…don’t kid yourselves or buy into the hype…it indeed sucks ass.

That shamo84 guy is funny. He says he’s a mensa member in Italy, but his typing is bad. Ju-Jitsu gives you the “upper end”? It’s upper hand, buddy. And, yes, the question mark goes after the quotation mark in this case. Brock did nothing more than act like a child and make a mockery of the sport. Dana even realizes that this is bad for UFC, so he gave him a verbal lashing before the post fight presser. Next thing you know, Brock is acting like a bitch apologizing with a Bud Light bottle in front of him. I’m definitely not paying to watch anymore Lesnar fights.
