I believe him…Bisping was obviously out already but Dan was in the motion of hitting him again before Bisping even hit the ground…totally legit second shot but he could’ve gotten into a bit of hot water for what he said, not what he did GSP GSP GSP!!!!!

by McArthur on Jul 13, 2009 9:20 AM EDT reply actions

Yeah hitting him the second time was fine the ref hadn’t stopped him yet but it was pretty classless to say he knew the fight was over and still power punched him anyway while he was defenseless.

by Jimbob on Jul 13, 2009 9:24 AM EDT up reply actions

Classless was all the trash talk bisping was doing, henderson was trying to be cool during the show and before the fight and bisping was being an *sshole. Bisping got exactly what he deserved, now I’m just curious to see what they do with him next??

by Dragon on Jul 13, 2009 9:33 AM EDT up reply actions

They’re gonna try to re-build him. They will feed him more cans, then have him fight a Patrick Cote or Thales Leites. If he beats either of those guys, then the UFC can say he beat a former number 1 contender. Hell, they might bring Lutter back for Bisping to beat on lol.

by Pat on Jul 13, 2009 9:49 AM EDT up reply actions

Cote will beat Bisping as well imo

by McArthur on Jul 13, 2009 9:51 AM EDT up reply actions

Yeah I’m really not sure about that Pat. If they wanted to feed him cans I’m doubtful people would consider Lietes, Cote, or Lutter cans… I could be wrong but Lietes is a dangerous ground guy, people just thought he didn’t deserve his shot because Maquardt really won their fight. Lutter came the closest out of anyone to actually hurting Anderson and Cote is a very good, hard to finish striker. I hope they give him Yushin. He’s fought enough cans in his day.

by Cogito Ergo Sum on Jul 13, 2009 9:58 AM EDT up reply actions

Hendo would actually be a good person to put up against Machida. He is an olympic caliber wrestler so he is probably the most likely to be able to get Machida to the ground and he also has a strong chin. Style-wise, Hendo could pose some problems for Machida.

by RyanHobbs on Jul 13, 2009 11:25 AM EDT up reply actions

Dan Henderson didn’t talk any shit leading up to this fight, so if he wants to talk some shit now he can!! He earned the right. Bisping ran his mouth and was a punk on the show and somewhat of a bully, and got a real no gimmick bully beatdown !! Put that fight on the show!!

As for the second shot, it happens in the heat of the moment, Rashad hit Salmon after the kick, Rampage hit Wandy after the KO, Their brains are moving at a 100 miles an hour and it’s just a reaction to keep throwing. Now when he’s in midair and and sees he’s out and decides to lay it anyway, if Bisping was respectable leading up to the fight, I would have a problem with him doing it intentionally. Bisping wasn’t respectable, so Dan showed him some of the same disrespect back!! Remember, respect is earned not given ASK BISPING IF HE RESPECTS DAN HENDERSON NOW!!

by getrawbc on Jul 13, 2009 9:56 AM EDT up reply actions

I agree 100%, it was basically the same way he ko’d wandy. The actions were justified, just the trash talk afterward may have made it seem “cheap” to others. Me personally, I wish he would have drilled him a few more times!! Karma is a motherf*cker and bisping had that coming for sure!!

by Dragon on Jul 13, 2009 9:25 AM EDT up reply actions

O yeah I forgot, GSP!! GSP!! GSP!!!

by mikeybear on Jul 13, 2009 9:26 AM EDT up reply actions

What did you even just say? I don’t know that anything there really makes sense lol. Bisping did deserve to have his mouth shut but the same goes to Hendo that goes to Brock. Once you shut them up there is no reason to throw further shots, verbal or physical. Hendo has always been classy imo but he stepped out of line a bit by saying he took the extra shot purposely. I would like to see Bisping face Wandy next… actually I’d like to see Bisping face Yushin next. Yushin deserves a top competitor and Bisping still needs to find his place in the MW division.

by Cogito Ergo Sum on Jul 13, 2009 9:44 AM EDT up reply actions

glad Hendo won, poses much more of a threat to the title than Bisping does, Bisping will get there one day but I think he needs to change training camps before that happens. For me the occasion got to him, he’s a smart fighter he know’s how stupid it is to circle left against a guy like Dan Henderson. It’s a matter of time before he’ll knock you out, he only needs to land that punch once and for the whole fight he was circling towards it. He’s better than that, should had made more of a fight of it and on another night he would have.

I wasn’t impressed with Hendo’s comment about shutting him up afterwards, I’ve been really happy with how Hendo’s dealt with Bisping attitude i.e. ignoring him and rising above it. Shame that he had to lower himself to Bisping’s level after the fight, no need.

by Dave on Jul 13, 2009 9:47 AM EDT up reply actions

agree completely that Bisping needs to change his camp.

He doesnt need to be as quick as he is and the focus on speed is obviously taking away from his all round power and THAT is what he needs to work on.

If he had decent power enough to rock someone then he would be able to be more aggresive in his fights and would pose more of a threat, this pitter patter nonesense is not serving him well he needs to think his entire strategy and I believe that means moving to the US and starting from scratch as far as his training is concerned.

He has plenty of time left on his contract ( 8 fights ) so he has a couple of years to turn it around and change his style completely.

by Confused on Jul 13, 2009 11:27 AM EDT up reply actions

since when do they give out sportsmanship awards in this sport??? u open ur mouth like bisping did, n whatever u get is justifiable! u cant talk sh*t about a guy that’s been fighting top guys for 10+ years n just expect a thumbwrestling match. if he wants to one hitter quitter u, that’s fine. if he wants to drub on u til the ref steps in, that’s fine too. if someone says they’re gonna walk right through u and dominate u, and calls u a walk in the park, i say to the one doing the talking, u better expect the worst and hope for the best, and don’t put any limitations on what u think the “worst” thing that could happen is!

UFC 100 Review:

Borck was dominant and impressed me with his game plan. He is charismatic and loves to play up the role of the villain. However, I don’t like him because he does not represent the sport with honor and integrity. His attitude is indicative of someone who has yet to realize the sacrifices and hard work of the true warriors that have laid the groundwork for him to make his $$$.

GSP = Excellence. Watching him is like watching Michael Jordan or Mike Tyson or Tiger Woods in their prime.
I feel very lucky to watch a special athlete like GSP.

Goldie and Rogan irritated me to no end with their commentary during the Sexy/Belcher tilt. Their blatant homerism really disappointed me. The fight was close but I think Sexy squeaked by , 29-28. He got Rd 1 and Rd 2.

Congrats to ViolentMike!

I will call you the Prophet. The MMA Gods answered your call. The ref should have stopped Hendo if Bisping fans didn’t want to see their boy get cracked another one for good measure.

Fitch impressed me with his control and sub attempts even though he was boring…again.

Looking forward to 101!

by OJR on Jul 13, 2009 9:38 AM EDT up reply actions

What fight was Rogan watching? I understand maybe Belch won a round and maybe even 2 rnds but imo Sexy won the 1st and 2nd…maybe I’m wrong but it was def too close to say that anyone was robbed

by McArthur on Jul 13, 2009 9:44 AM EDT up reply actions

Mac-

Its getting to the point that I am going to have to mute Goldie and Rogan. They are beginning to grate on me now.

by OJR on Jul 13, 2009 10:34 AM EDT up reply actions

I have no problem with the second punch but if he knew he was out cold he should have just restrained himself from hitting him a second time.

Saying after that he did it anyway was wrong but I guess the ref didn’t get there in time so it was unavoidable unless Hendo held back.

Hendo is the man.

by Ca$z on Jul 13, 2009 9:49 AM EDT up reply actions

the ref had not stopped the fight..(or had a chance to)..the shot was with in the rules..many fighters go in for more shots just to make sure..and really, it was a frickin crazy in the air superman to the face..and like it or not..bisping got an extra helping of humble pie!!

by sarah on Jul 13, 2009 11:31 AM EDT up reply actions

I will man up and take my lashes now for picking mir over lesnar, be gentle though, I did nail the coleman fight!!

by Dragon on Jul 13, 2009 9:28 AM EDT reply actions

Anyone who gives you crap for picking Mir over Lesnar probably picked Bisping over Hendo which was even more unbelievable than picking Mir over Lesnar. but I like you picked Mir and I also picked Alves. I don’t need to apologize for my picks because I thought both fighters would bring more interesting fights to their perspective divisions. Lets face it Brock only has a handful of prospected opponents and GSP is about done with the WW divison. This would have added more fights cause Mir is small and has more chances of losing than Brock and well Alves has an exciting style of fighting. Grill me if you want but I like a stand up war more than a wrestling match and I like a submission clinic more than I like both. GSP is great don’t get me wrong but people like him and Machida can bore me with their matches. I really enjoy watching them fight but I don’t enjoy paying for it if you know what I mean. I could pay to watch Wandy fight any day whether he wins or loses or its a 5 second fight or a 25 minute fight, he brings excitement. BTW I sincerly hope nobody thinks this KO win for Henderson means anything for him against Silva. Their first fight Hendo did nothing and peole need to admit he really didn’t have him in any trouble at all in that fight.

by Cogito Ergo Sum on Jul 13, 2009 9:39 AM EDT up reply actions

You mean besides the fact that Hendo won round 1 and had Silva controlled and was dropping bomb and smothering him? Yeah, Hendo didn’t have Silva in any trouble at all. I think Hendo’s approach to Silva should be the same as Bisping. Don’t bother focusing on new techniques, just focus on Cardio, cardio, cardio! If Hendo didn’t gas the first time, he could’ve gone on to win. I’m sure he gassed because he had to cut from his 205 fight with Rampage down to 185 pretty quickly. He looked more natural at 185 at UFC 100. I got Hendo over Silva in the rematch!

by haglnuts on Jul 13, 2009 4:10 PM EDT up reply actions

Right, there is no way Hendo was in “mid” motion before he struck the second blow. He Ko’ed Bisping, Bisping’s head hit the mat THEN Dan jump off the ground to land the last blow. I wanted Dan to win this as Bisping can be very annoying (i’m english) but i was dissapointed with his actions, and out of most i didn’t expect it from Hendo. Lost a little respect for him, he had been beater then that all series.

Remember this is a sport and these “Fighters” should act like sportsman. Rise above it.

by Dixon on Jul 13, 2009 9:33 AM EDT reply actions

I disagree. Dan was in a fluid motion when he landed that second shot, anymore after that it would have been un-nescessary. The second shot was totally justified though. (i’m not english) lol

by Dragon on Jul 13, 2009 9:36 AM EDT up reply actions

maybe if you watch it in slow mo but to me it looked like Dan was already on his way down to finish…its split second decision making and there is no way Dan had time to think it through

by McArthur on Jul 13, 2009 9:46 AM EDT up reply actions

Yet he said he did, as he already knew he was out. Surely watching it slow mo will only help identify the lack of fluidity. Which i have, and from this disagree that he was in mid motion. But this could go back and forth so more then willing to let it be. I’m happy he won just dissapointed.

P.S Just stating my nationality to help you lot realise i’m trying to remove bias.

by Dixon on Jul 13, 2009 9:59 AM EDT up reply actions

Yeah it’s a loss arguing over it all day. Just poking a little fun about the english statement. No hard feelings, I love the Brits!! Spent all of last oct. in Birmingham and loved it!! Miss the fish n chips though…… :’(

by Dragon on Jul 13, 2009 10:11 AM EDT up reply actions

You need to go more south for better fish and chip, try Brighton next time. Perfection mate.

No worries, always good to get 360 view of the event.

but all said i’m glad he did shut Bisping down he was a little embarrassing to watch. Trying the be an MMA Ricky Hatton for the UK. More of a Paul Telly’s Kelly fan, the man bowls when walking now thats LOL.

by Dixon on Jul 13, 2009 10:21 AM EDT up reply actions

Hopefully I can make it back there one day, I really enjoyed the time I spent over there. O and for the record you British f*ckers can drink like nobodys’ business!!

by Dragon on Jul 13, 2009 11:00 AM EDT up reply actions

Thats true we do have a drinking culture, but i would be lying if i said we were a nation that could handle our drink. We have a program over here called “Boozey Britain” and this shows Britain in a terrible but very true light. Now Europe have good drinking culture and know their limits.

by Dixon on Jul 13, 2009 11:23 AM EDT up reply actions

Rampage was deliberate, Wandi was out than he rained like 3 more down on him. This is way more ok than what he did.

by WB on Jul 13, 2009 11:12 AM EDT up reply actions

Good point

by jet99 on Jul 13, 2009 11:26 AM EDT up reply actions

True, and i’m not saying it doesn’t happen. Just Hendo always carry’s himself alot better then that, and i was a little dissapointed in this actions.

Was also dissapointed with Page for his actions, but it was a little more expected from Page (no excuse). This is more about Hendo doing it then the action itself.

Bottom line we don’t need someone getting seriously hurt like this otherwise more haters of the sport will pile on top. We want it to grow not just sustain itself.

by Dixon on Jul 13, 2009 11:30 AM EDT up reply actions

Those last couple of shots by Rampage were for the 2 losses he endured in PRIDE. Can’t blame him for that can you? lol.

by Gurthee on Jul 13, 2009 2:09 PM EDT up reply actions

I still can’t believe that KO… HENDO & his best. That alone was worth watching UFC100

by neeko on Jul 13, 2009 9:49 AM EDT reply actions

I usually watch UFC events at local restaraunts. However, I am on vacation, so I decided to purchase the PPV and watch it on the big screen with a bunch of friends. I paid the entire cost being as they had never watched any UFC. They loved the Belcher and Akiyama fight. Hendo knocking out a trash talking brit had them out of their seats. They thought GSP’s takedown ability was amazing (this surprised me being as most people who first watch MMA hate to see any fight go to the ground) and they were thoroughly impressed with Brocks power. Half of them found his post fight antics hilarious and the other half hated him. Overall, UFC 100 was a huge success in their eyes and they are now hooked on MMA.

by RyanHobbs on Jul 13, 2009 11:35 AM EDT up reply actions

couple of slices of humble pie for me here please. I believed Bisping would beat a seemingly not so hungry, timid, aging guy but boy did Henderson prove me wrong. From the first exchanges I felt Bisping was going to loose. Furthermore this interview really says it all. I will never ever doubt mr. Henderson again.
Im just happy that sofar we know Bisping has nothing serious left over from the 1st and 2nd hit, that could have ruined it all.

I think that Hendo would be a great matchup for Lyoto. Hendo has olympic wrestling ability, and a great chin. No one is expected to outstrike Lyoto at this point. Basically its a matter of surviving the stand up and getting the fight to the ground. Hendo is very capable of both of these objectives.

by RyanHobbs on Jul 13, 2009 11:37 AM EDT up reply actions

nothing wrong with the last shot. these guys have to fight til their stopped.
as for everyone moaning about Bisping… yes, he did run his mouth (he admits that), but if he hadn’t would anyone really have been that interested in the fight?!?

by Rusty on Jul 13, 2009 10:21 AM EDT reply actions

Ever since he was in the TV series he has been mouthing off, and I, for one, was very happy to see the fight and the way it ended. His kind of arrogance has no place in any sport.

by Ron Haley on Jul 13, 2009 2:45 PM EDT up reply actions

One, while punching an unconscious opponent until the referee stops the fight might be legal under the current MMA rules, it’s not nearly quite as cut and dry as people make it out to be, mainly because the “Engaging in an unsportsmanlike conduct that causes an injury to an opponent.” clause is so broad.

Second, if you don’t care if the fighters you root for do the decent thing, at least try to have the intelligence to consider the possible legal implications. (for the fighters and for the sport)

If someone ever gets killed or badly hurt in this type of situation, the fact that the fighters signed waivers and the referee didn’t stop the fight aren’t going to be worth a damn if some state prosecutor decides he’d like to press charges, or a fighter’s family chooses to sue for damages.

HENDO is a smuck guy,,,he couldnt take that USA lost to the UK ..yeah he got 1 back at Bsibing but watch this space u will see a UK fighter champ in the next few years….

Oh yeah Silva the Brazilian will show him again…Hendo won the 1st round by laying on Silva and covering his mouth…and hes an olympic wrestler and couldnt do anything else!!

WAR SILVA!!!!!!!

I believe Dragon has it correct in that it was a fluid movement. I know I stood up and landed that second punch with hendo… at least in my mind.
I think Hendo

dan is the the man. tells t how it is but all class too. second sot was totally legit, and dan didn’t trash talk after, guys. he just mentioned “shuting him up”…sorry but that’s not trash talking. that’s sweet justice.

Anyone else notice that there have yet to be any comments from Bisping? I guess he’s still trying to figure out who/where he is. lol

by Gurthee on Jul 13, 2009 2:04 PM EDT reply actions

Well, I am one, and I believe there are many, that absolutely loved the second hit. Bisping is an arrogant, disrespectful mouthpiece, and seeing Dan finish him off the way he did was very satisfying.

by Ron Haley on Jul 13, 2009 2:39 PM EDT reply actions

omg hendo knocked him out cold I loved watchimg that, and for what he said after the fight who cares he was amped with adrenaline and just said what he had been meaning to say. he was just smart and waitied till he won the fight to talk his talk instead of bisping who did it before and wasn’t able to after because he was knocked out and couldn’t. bisping needs to work on his cointers idk if you guys paid much attention but any time bisping got hit he duck covered and ran he didn’t counter at all. oh and bisping to win a fight you need to throw more then 5 punches and a pussy leg kick…HENDO for prez!!! oh and in typical fashion we beat the redcoats…..AGAIN!!!!

by dustygina on Jul 13, 2009 2:56 PM EDT reply actions
