Does anyone have any legit info on the sponsorship deal? I wanna read what’s really going on before Loretta Hunt twists it into a story about dana’s evil penis.

Loretta Hunt, LOL! Or Introvert going off about the “evil empire” (UFC) and how we are supposed to rise against the oppressors (Dana) all while he grew up with a silver spoon in his mouth!

Who really cares about Loretta Hunt. And now they are going to charge the fighters money for their sponsers. LOL It was only a matter of time. How sad…………

In the business world, you have to protect your paying sponsors. If a fighter walks in with McDonalds on his shorts, how does that benefit BK with all the money they spend?

NASCAR gets a piece of the action for every single logo, sticker, etc because they give them exposure to fans and air time on TV. Why not the UFC?

right! Mickey’s used to sponsor UFC, now Bud light does. If BJ walks out with a mickey’s label, how does the UFC or BUd Light profit off that? They don’t. While the two brands are totally different, they are advertising to the same people. So if mickey’s pays BJ 100k and he in turn gives the UFC 10% (10k) he walks away with 90k. If Dana says “NO” like with affliction, the fighter (in this case BJ) walks away with ZERO! Even introvert or anyone else can’t deny this. The question is, would you like your favorite fighter to make 90k on a deal or zero. These aren’t exact numbers, just kept them round for you simpletons!
on the same topic, some of you guys are always complaining about fighter pay. Mike Swick is in no way a top payed fighter, yet he paid his own way into the WSOP (10k for main event), as well as a few lesser tournaments (lowest tournament is 1k). He must not be hurting as not too many guys hurting for money would be paying that kind of scratch for a tournament that even the most season pros have a miniscule chance at winning. Full tilt would have paid for him, but if he won he’d have to give a cut. Even if I won a free seat to the main event, I’d sell it as the odds of winning are so stacked against you. So these guys must be making some good scratch off sponsors!

This really affects the undercard guys getting 5K/5K and must rely on sponsorships to stay afloat until they can rise in the ranks. If these small sponsors start bailing then it kills the funnel that sends unknown fighters through the ranks into the top of the division. My tin foil hat theory is that this is a move to help their clothing line company and Tapout kill off all these newer MMA brands and the likes. Big time sponsors only care about the superstars. At the worst this move can possibly cripple the talent level at the bottom trying to battle for contendership. Talented fighters would either go to other orgs where they can still make decent money with little from fighting until they can get big and get big time sponsors or go overseas mainly japan where they get absurd money and not really worry about sponsorship.

he’s hoping for one and a half million ppvs and says that it will be shown for free in mexico. He says over 300 million people will be watchin world wide. That sounds like an exagerated number to me.

by steve o on Jul 11, 2009 3:25 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

and you know this because? if he gets a million ppv buys in the US and his theory of 5 buddies (avg) are watching together, there is 5 million. add hooters, johnny utahs, buffalo wild wings and closed circuit tv (in the U.s. alone thats probably 20-30 million…just in the US. So with another 50 countries watching??? Even if it’s inflated, it will be a lot of people!

I think he’s talking about the total number of televisions that will have access to this event worldwide. Not necessarily, the actual number of people that will watch. So far the highest number i’ve heard dana throw out for actual people they expect to watch an event(i think for UFC92) is around 11 million when you take what kevin brought up.

Dana White is the man. Down to earth and will go out of his way to please fight fans. Genius.
