Did Murr get some hair tattooed across his newly ripped belly?
by PW on Jul 10, 2009 10:49 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
Brock looks a little softer to me now. Frank looked a little more ripped. Frank has also said all the right things. Even though he’s the rightful underdog IMO, I have to give Mir credit for doing everything he can to give himself the best chance of winning. God, I hope it doesn’t get stopped early.

Brock will be even bigger tomorrow once he hydrates and carbs up.
Mir looks like he can use an XL bodybag instead of an XXL. Nice

Shame on you guys for buying into the Hype. TO all of MIr’s retarded fans….He is going down tonight, he will lose his next fight, and go back to being irrelevant. His ego is just out of control. I cant take it! He had the audacity to call himself a devastating striker! hahahaha
“Where they Stand TALL at, thats where they FALL at!”
AS great as Mir looks, i bet you he still gasses by the 3rd round….that is, if he can last that long!
THat four leaf clover has run out!
I also heard that Brock will make 3 million for this fight!

ufcaddict: The ufc realise that not all the UK fans have access to SKY, that is why they are going to be streaming the main events on the official UFC website (but only in the UK).
FYI, I have it on good authority that Virgin are the favorites to get the new tv deal, but they wanted to tie the ufc down to a long contract. The UFC wanted to GIVE virgin UFC100 and talk about a longer contact after they saw the figures, but Virgin thought they had the UFC over a barrel and stuck to their guns. This forced the ufc into showing UFC100 on their own (9 hour) channel.

What are you talking about? Not one person above you posted that Mir will win. Or that he even has a decent chance. I’m just giving him props for doing everything he can to give himself the best chance possible.

What John said. Mur’s buying into his own hype. I couldn’t stop laughing at his devastating striker comment. His striking has not vastly improved- the only used one and only one combo on Nog, still an armpuncher (strong one at that but still an armpuncher nonetheless), also look at his footwork and general stiffness of his body. He’s in better shape but we still have no ideas about his cardio. Please don’t bring up the Big Nog fight, going to the second round with an empty shell that threw four strikes doesn’t count as an MMA fight.

NNR: PREACH BOTHER! AMEN
Ovaries: My comment wasnt aimed at anyone about, it was a general statement about the fools have bought into the manufactured Frank Mir illusion. THE GUY IS NOT GOOD!!!!!!! Yes, I HATE FORREST Griffin, but i acknowledge that he is a top fighter that can present problems for anyone…I hate Mir, but HE ACTUALLY SUCKS!!!! He is TRASH!!!!!! NOT GOOD AT ALL! pretty damn good grappler, but not even a top 20 heavyweight MMA FIGHTER!!!!

john like it or not mir knocked out nog, your excuses can’t change that win into a loss for him. It’s pretty easy to like fedor when he’s the best heavyweight in the world and hasn’t lost a fight(realistically). Ive been a fan of mir since he broke big tims arm and rooted for him even when he sucked. Is it wrong to root for someone who isn’t the number one heavyweight?

JOhn G…….
How long has this guy been watching MMA. Every year more and more people get on here and the average IQ of the place goes down. I’m not saying Mir will win but god knows I hope he does. Anyone who says Mir has no skills, or that he has never been a good fighter needs to……………………….Oh never mind it is not worth it.
I love the quality of this blog, and I will always continue reading. Thanks MMA MAnia.

He is WEAK. He isnt a tough guy at all. He is a pretender. The guy got TKO’ed by that Ju jitsu FAIRY, Pe De Pano Cruz. Brock could have never trained a day in his life and I promise you that Cruz would never Ko him.
IMir had the audacity to call himself and imposing striker and basically say that he is a better striker then Randy.
I dont get how he has any fans at all!

come on, you can see a difference between frank mir now and when he lost to pe de pano. You defended shogun because of his injury so why is frank any different? that fight was his first fight back after breaking his leg and he didn’t look like himself until he beat antoni hardonk

Your stupidity cracks me up. Mir was in fantastic shape for the Vera fight after everybody saw the weigh-in pics, people thought that the “old” Frank Mir was was back (the old Frank Mir wasn’t that good, btw). We all saw what happened to him in the fight. Too bad you weren’t watching MMA back then, dummy.
The bloated and incredibly out of shape Mir that you’re referring to was him in his win against Dan. Get your facts straight.

Whatever chance Mir has will need to happen very early in the fight. He must figure out how to either damage Lesnar early, or lure him into a bad position for a sub. If this does not happen in the first round, we will see Lesnar wear Mir down and win the fight no later than the 3rd round. I don’t expect any cardio improvement by Mir to be a factor. Improved quickness and mobility could help him, but again, Mir will need to find a way to capitalize early. I’d like to see how Lesnar reacts if/when he faces serious adversity, as it’s something we haven’t seen much of.

Yeah and Brock is starting look more like he did when he was a colligiate wrestler, don’t get me wrong he was big but he wasn’t lifting for deffinition like he was in the WWE, now its all function lifting instead of definition, I think that is the issue and he is still as strong if not stronger. Look at the worlds strongest men they are big but not ripped for the most part (I know Marious or how ever you spell that huge Polish guys name is ripped)

Guys, I’ll be honest here, and I’m not a Mir fan, but following his carreer this is the BEST shape of his entire life; I am seriously impressed. I was like 80% sure that Brock would win, now I don’t know.. I think this is going to be a great fight.
by O damn he got caught on Jul 10, 2009 10:52 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs
I never cared much for Mir because I thought he was lazy and just relied on his skill, but now he is obviously taking it super serious. Mir looked good against Nog (even if Nog wasn’t himself). He looked fast and explosive for a 250 lb guy. I expect him to be that much more improved again for this fight. Mir has always hit like a mac truck, it’s just that it use to be if he didn’t tag his opponent in the first 3 minutes he was to gassed to be a threat. I think he has finally decided to train seriously and his cardio will be good. It ‘s a hard one to call because Brock hits like a mac truck also. Mir has had a few problems when guys have attacted him very early in the fight (Vera, Brock). If Mir can avoid those big ham hocks for the fist couple minutes I think he has the better chance to win. Mir has the more technical stand up and his ground game is sick. To many people are forgetting that only one guy has ever hit Nog hard enough to stop him. It’s not just Mir’s subs that Brock has to worry about.

Lets be honest here. People always say and sometimes it is true, “This is the best shape I’ve ever been in.” 8 out of 10 times that person in fantastic shape ends up losing nevertheless. I’m sorry, but when Mir fought Nog, Nog was standing stupidly in front of him and doing absolutely nothing. It made Mir look awesome. But the reality is, Lesnar is pissed and I’m pretty sure tomorrow night he’s going to turn millions of fans on the fence about him and his ability into fans with an awesome display of brutality on Mir. If not, I will have no problem giving Mir the props he deserves.

Exactly, when has Nog ever not stood in front of his opponents and taken a beating. The thing that is impressive, is the great Nog chin couldn’t take Mir’s beating. Mir hits hard.

I’ve got absolutely nothing against Mir and I couldn’t really care less about Lesnar, but I just can’t see Mir winning. His “comeback” fight with Nog didn’t show us a thing besides Noguiera needing to retire, and Lesnar has just been looking better and better. I’m not saying it’ll be a massacre and I really hope it’s not, but my money’s on Brock.

People seem to forget how shocked Brock was when he took his first real punch from Randy and got cut! Although Brock has said he wont make the same mistake he did in the first fight, neither will Mir! I think Mir will be faster on his feet and if he does land a few shots on Lesnar it’ll be interesting to see how Brock takes them! Really hope Mir submits him just to show its not all about power! Cant handle watching hammer fists for the next five years, its rather boring!

I want Lesnar to win simply because he is more exciting to watch. Man guys, SERIOUSLY!!!! Brock Lesnar is gettin spoon fed everything and is ridiculously overhyped and you all are eaten it up. Mir told you exactly how he was going to beat Brock the first time, and did exactly that. Took the take down, weathered the storm and tapped him out. I saw an interview with Brock, and thought I was watching a wrestling promo. He is beyond phony, and after he loses to Mir, I cant wait to get back on here and read all your responses as to how it was a fluke because for some reason, the one who deserves the most respect here, isnt even given a chance. But Mir will have the last laugh, and maybe you guys can catch Brock on TNA or something after this is done.

I had previously given Mir about a 20% chance of victory. But, he has obviously packed on some lean muscle and no doubt gained alot of strength by the look of him. He’s still not as strong or as big as Brock! But, he may be plenty strong and big enough to keep from getting manhandled again! I am now around 50-50 on this one! I got Hendo by A@@whippin’ and, Alves by superior strength! I’m still rooting for GSP though! And I would love to see Lesnar vs. Carwin!

Yea, Lesnar vs. Carwin would be good. But Lesnar vs. Cain Velasquez would be better. Cain obliterated Kongo last month, and he is huge. My prediction: Lesnar over Mir (decision!!), GSP over Alves (TKO), Hendo over Bisping (KO), Bonner over Coleman (split decision). This is definitely one sick card. I CANNOT wait.

I know there is going to be a lot of people talking about how disrespectful Brock was by not shaking hands and then getting in Mir’s face after, here is my take on it. Mir talked enough shit before the fight to deserve it especially after getting, and I am loving the his fans have to read this, COMPLETELY DOMINATED AND POUNDED INTO GROUND MEAT. lol
