Cant wait for this card although I hate brock to death he is going to kill mir barring a quick submission. Mir would not even beat Herring.
GSP Hendo Brock

I think those are the logical choices. Hendo v Bisping has the biggest ? over it IMO though.
When it comes making smart picks, the number one predictor of future performance is past performance. If you can eliminate the hype and your own like or dislike for the fighters and assess their past perforamances, you come up with the smart picks. Having said that, some fighters do improve a lot between fights. If you’re counting on that, you’re picking more on instinct than logic (which is okay if you’re instincts are right more often than not). I’m hoping Mir has improved. We haven’t seen him in a legit test in a while so it’s hard to say definitively where he is. Outboxing a non-boxer doesn’t tell me a lot. Sub’ing a green Brock who gave him a leg doesn’t tell me a lot either. Meanwhile, Brock beat a legit Randy and demonstrated that his straight right has definite KO power. Also, submission avoidance is one of the easier things to teach. So I’m breaking my rule a little by assuming he will be harder to submit. All that being said, I hope Mir pulls it off.

I can’t watch another promo anything for this event. I am ready damn it! Good post PYITO. I have the same picks but pulling for Mir too.

i feel the exact same way for the mir/lesnar fight
i’m praying mir will beat this unprofessional twat but i think lesnar will win and therefore is the smarter bet

Seriously, the only way they could possibly get more hype for this card is if they put Jesus vs. Satan as the co-co-main event.

I just read that StubHub had ringside seats selling at $45,000 a piece.

Wow…Rogan is the best, he always gets me pumped for fights
Bisping outboxes Dan (who hasn’t been himself sense coming over from Pride)
GSP steamroles Alves just like he did Penn, I find the promotion for this fight a little misleading, “Alves the man who knocked out Hughes” I’m like… didn’t GSP also do that?
Mir vs Brock = I have no freakin idea!!

theyre just attempting, and failing, to hype alves up like hes some sort of world beater when he is nowhere near GSP’s level… GSP destroyed fitch who beat alves, beat hughes twice, making alves’ victory over hughes not that big, gsp also beat up koscheck for three rounds, and gsp would murder karo anyday of the week…
by brendan on Jul 10, 2009 10:57 AM EDT up reply actions
mma maths doesnt work.alves has improved a ton since the fitch fight.even gsp said that alves done a better job than him beatin hughes, kos and the heat.gsp is under no illusions that this will be his toughest fight ever.

GSP didn’t murder Karo when he faced, sure it was a while ago but Brendan if you’re going to use the Fitch defeat against Alves then two can play at that game. Whilst I personally think that the Kos win was the most impressive and should be hyped up a lot more, Thiago has looked unstoppable in his last 3 fights against top 10 WWs so he deserves a title shot and right now he is the only WW who has a hope at beating GSP.
Alves may not win but in that case I don’t see GSP losing again to any current UFC WW and the only marketable fights at that weight class would be against Jake Shields and Nick Diaz if the UFC can sign either of them. A dominant win and GSP would become a victim of his own success because of a lack of viable challengers and a superfight with Anderson would have to happen.

I’m a Brit – So I have always wanted to see Bisping do well… it’s good for UK MMA!… but he is starting to get on my nerves – and I can see why the American’s don’t like him!
I know it’s hype… but saying you’re gonna knock Hendo out is stupid.. we all know he doesn’t even believe that himself!… If Bisping was really THAT great – he would dominated Leben… and Yeah he won – but he was not impressive!
by DanP on Jul 10, 2009 10:35 AM EDT reply actions
I think Bisping will out strike Hendo, so if he keeps it standing he wins. Hendo has never had a good gas tank at 185, so that should play a part in this fight also.
Bisping on one had is cool, then he can also be a jerk. He is funny how he always talks alot of crap about fighters or the US TUF guys then when someone says something about him he claims he has been nothing but a gentleman. LOL
Bisping a tough guy to like on one hand and likeable on the other.
Hendo is a cool guy.

I think 90% of bispings “Attitude” is all about selling the fights.
In an article in the telegraph newspaper the journolist talked about the fact that since joining the UFC hes now a millionaire…this really suprised me considering how few fights hes had with the promotion (I have never seen a report on how much he makes per fight before or after bonuses).
That said he has done everything he can to raise his profile and make people interested in his fights (if only to see him get KO’d…lol) so really for him and his family all the “talk” has deffinately paid off.
Personaly I think hes good enough to back it up allthough by the end of his career he will have alot more than one loss.

I’m a Bisping fan but after TUF 9 I can see why people dislike him, he said and did some stupid things. Sleeping in for Dean’s fight was on a Shamrock level of bad coaching whilst arguing with contestants, even if it was Damarques, is immature and unprofessional. Having said that he is entertaining as a fighter and a personality, plus Hendo isn’t exactly a saint and has said some questionable things. The reason Dan doesn’t get as much flak is that he’s more subtle with his insults but he still has some arrogance.
Hopefully Bisping can win so that we get a legitimate main event, Anderson-Bisping would be the first superfight in the UK since Rampage-Hendo and I really want to see Anderson defend his belt in this country before he retires.

Mir by sub (dejevu all over again)
GSP by sub (he won’t take any chances with Alves’ power)
Hendo by decision (takedown – GnP – repeat)

Alves TKO for the upset
Henderson by flawless victory
