Carlos Condit vs. Chris Lytle on tap for UFC Fight Night 19 in September

Former WEC welterweight kingpin Carlos Condit (22-5) is set to do battle with Chris Lytle (27-17-2) in a 170-pound showdown at UFC Fight Night 19 from the Cox Convention Center in Oklahoma City, Okla., on Sept. 16, 2009, according to MMA Fanhouse.

Condit debuted for the UFC this April, making the jump from the WEC after the promotion’s 170-pound division was folded. He fought top contender Martin Kampmann in an all-out action packed war at UFC Fight Night: "Condit vs. Kampmann." Unfortunately, "The Natural Born Killer" came up short, as "The Hitman" was able to eek out a split decision victory.

It was a closely contested bout, but nonetheless still a loss. Condit now looks to get back on the winning path and reclaim the glory he once had as a three-time defending WEC champion.

"Lights Out" Lytle is coming off a unanimous decision win over Kevin Burns at The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) Season 9 Finale this June, in what was an exciting showdown that saw Lytle earn his third "Fight of the Night" bonus in as many attempts.

He’ll be hoping to make it four in a row come September, and Condit will be happy to oblige, as he has been in his fair share of entertaining bouts himself.

The main event of the evening will see TUF 5 winner Nate Diaz (10-4) get a chance to break out of an 0-2 slump when he tangles with Melvin Guillard (22-7-2). It is also expected to feature a lightweight rumble between Roger Huerta and Gray Maynard.

UFC Fight Night 19 will serve as the lead-in for the upcoming tenth season of TUF, which features Kevin "Kimbo Slice" Ferguson and a solid collection of 15 other heavyweight fighters competing in a tournament-style format to earn one "six-figure contract."

Condit will be too much for the Sloppy Slugger. I hope after this they give Condit a top-5 guy.

Agreed, condit taps him. No fight of the night for “let’s stand and bang.” If he won this could actually put him back in contention but he only cares about paychecks.

Should be an awesome fight, Condit will win by UD and this will be FOTN. Lytle is really exciting to watch, but never beats top fighters and I think Condit will be too much for him.

I hope Condit can take this , but im not sure it would be easy. Sloppy slugger ( 27-17 ) has never been ko’d ( 2 by cuts ) or sub’d so im guessing Condit would have too win like all the rest and cut him bad or deciscion him..

If Marcus Davis and Thiago Alves cant knock him out , he cant either and if Nick Diaz , Karo , Hughes and Serra cant sub him then neither will Carlos imho.

Carlos will he smaller and less powerful also , so I could easily see this similar too the Paul Taylor vs Lytel fight where is was mostly on the fence and Lytel grinding out a win.

I like Condit being the first guy to submit Chris Lytle. I defiatley think Lytle has the power advantage on the feet, but Condit has the cleaner, more diverse striking. I see Condit winning things on the feet, but taking it to the ground after tasting a couple of Lytle’s power shots. The reason I like Condit submitting him is his guard and BJJ game in general is really unorthadox. He throws armbars and guillotines from weird positions that guys like Serra, Diaz, and Hughes don’t. Lytle aint going to see it comming and Condit will sub him.

i think the exact same thing. condit won’t be able to hang on the feet, and once he eats a shot or two, he’ll look for the takedown and eventually choke him out. sorry chris, no fotn for you this time. but you may be on the receiving end of a sotn
