Michael Bisping isn't asking for respect at UFC 100 -- he's taking it

Props: NWI.com

Quoteworthy:

"A lot of people still underrate me and, I feel, don’t give me the respect I deserve. So I look forward to going into this fight and taking my respect. He’s said a few things about me I think that disrespected me a little bit — disrespected my skills and my previous opponents. So I’m gonna teach him a lesson come Saturday night. I surely don’t see myself as the underdog. I can see why, on paper, some people feel I’m the underdog, but personally I don’t see it that way. I see Henderson as the underdog. And I’m gonna show the world why."

The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) 3 light heavyweight winner, Michael Bisping, keeps up the confidence as his showdown with Dan Henderson at UFC 100 on July 11 draws closer. "The Count" has been talking a good game to promote the middlweight showdown, saying previously that Henderson is "nowhere near his level." The winner of the match up between Bisping and Henderson, as well as Demian Maia, are the front runners to challenge for the 185-pound title next. Does Bisping get treated unfairly because of his arrogance and TUF status? Or is he just not ready for a fighter on Henderson's level? Awaiting feedback...

Anybody that types in “WAR Bisping” on this thread needs a beating. This guy is a KOOK and I hope he get’s his face punched in.

Man Bisping has been running his mouth alot. It’s gotten real old.

by DSmith on Jul 9, 2009 10:50 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

You realize that he has to a ton of interviews for this fight? He’s not just calling press conferences every day to talk some trash, people are interviewing him and asking him whether he thinks he can win etc, what do you want him to say?
Don’t answer that ;)

by mack3333 on Jul 9, 2009 10:59 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

I simply can NOT wait any longer to see Hendo crack Bisping’s jaw with the first overhand right he throws. Bisping is going to crumble like The Dunes did when it was imploded. It is going to be like a 185 lb bag filled with douche splattering all over the floor. I want him out cold, jaw quivering, breathing deeply with his bottom jaw sticking out (and quivering), at least one leg to be twitching, all of his toes completely spread apart, and throw in a couple of good ol fashion convulsions to top it off.

Bisping is going to be the one learning a lesson, and that lesson is RESPECT. Either that or he’ll be a puss and run around the ring Kalib style hoping to not get hit. If anyone thought that Machida’s first few UFC fights were boring, just wait till you see Bisping strategy for this fight. He does NOT want to be within arms length of Hendo at any point of this upcoming fight.

Hendo by VICOUS KO.

With that said, I’ve had a few bucks on Bisping for months now… BUT, I gotta remain positve.

According to most sites/bloggers/reporters, it seems like Bisping is the favorite heading into thie fight as far as predictions are concerned.

by ViolentMike on Jul 9, 2009 11:29 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Ive yet to see a journolist see him as favourite.

as for bloggers I think alot of people where burned when they were so adamant that McCarthy/Day/Leben were each going to stop (“Expose”) him so now they are just covering there bases…but privately they all have henderson.

I personaly think Bisping will win by UD, people keep judging this fight based on how good Hendo used to be in pride and not on his recent performances.

My prediction is Bisping

by Confused on Jul 9, 2009 12:05 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Confused, I listened to Pro-MMA radio yesterday and all 3 folks picked Bisping. It was the first time they were unanimous on an underdog.

Bisping has been the trendy pick since the original odds came out. Even I, ME, VIOLENTMIKE placed some money on Bisping at +300 because that was just ridiculous. But don’t be fooled, I am praying that I lose my money on that bet!!!!

Those lines have been bet down severely. I wish I had bet $1 million on Bisping then, and then made the proper bet on Hendo today (not breaking out the calculator) and no matter what the outcome, I’d be winning money because of the drastic slide in the odds.

by ViolentMike on Jul 9, 2009 12:10 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

I didn’t hear the show and honestly Im really suprised that they all picked Bisping.

I think that the recent swing towards bisping has everything to do with the initial odds placed on him…I think it made some people think “you know what he aint +300 bad” and possibly made some people reconsider him for his fighting abillities and not his personality.

While I do believe he will win Im realistic enough to realise that on paper he shouldn’t and dan has more than one road to victory.

But I still think Bisping will take it on points…I dont think anyone is getting knocked out.

by Confused on Jul 9, 2009 12:26 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

VM…I’m with you. I really enjoyed your descriptiveness of the KO. I hope Bisping gets floored…but not once…I hope he gets back up and then wobbles around while Hendo winds right up and absolutely cleans his clock. I find Bisping to be irritating and although I admit he’s an improving middleweight…his resume is quite lame for the amount of hype behind him. I just don’t care for Bisping’s attitude and he’s absolutely cocky and is making a big deal out of being called a douchebag. If that’s all it takes to disrespect him then he’s got some anger issues…plus Hendo was just stating facts…he is a grade ‘A’ doucher. If Bisping can win convincingly then I’ll finally give him his dues…but I’ll say this…he doesn’t deserve a title shot with only one noteable win. He needs to find someone like Wandy, Nate, Okami, or Maia to deserve a shot Silva. Anderson only has so many fights left before he retires according to him and I don’t want a title shot wasted on Bisping.

by Buster Bluth on Jul 9, 2009 12:46 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

michael bisping is dumb…the only person being underestimated is dan henderson……you say ur not going to get taken down and your going to ko dan hendo…good luck mike , his trainer even said he knows what shots are going to ko him………woooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooow lol

For the people picking Bisping, i will just make a list of names for you guys.

Charles “Chainsaw” McCarthy
Chris “The crippler” Leben
Elvis “King of Rock and Rumble” Sinosic
Jason “Dooms” Day

Yep.

I think I used to enjoy trash talk because of the hall of fame of trash talk:

Jordan
Ali
Etc.

They had some class while delivering the goods. I’m beginning to really despise the fighters who constantly talk before fights. BJ was running his mouth and now Bisping.

Best pre-fight attitude in mma, GSP and Fedor.

Fedor – “my opponent is very dangerous and I will have to prepare and focus to do well” – wow. nice.

GSP – “I let my fighting do the talking. I’m not really into trash talk.” – again, nice.

People need to learn from these guys. I know there is fight hyping which sells tickets, but I’m sure these guys sell tickets too.

by Bennie Blanco on Jul 9, 2009 10:59 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Those are probably the last two fighters’ press conferences that I would ever go to – unless I was suffering from insomnia and hadn’t slept for days cuz I’m sure that it would put me to sleep.

by ViolentMike on Jul 9, 2009 11:30 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

I don’t need drama to watch a fight. I’d rather listen to what honest fighters need to say than some hyped up drama.

by Stryker on Jul 9, 2009 12:13 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Who cares about drama. There is nothing wrong with saying, “I’m prepared and I’m going for the KO. He likes to stand and bang and I’m going to catch him on the ground.” Absolutely nothing wrong with that and it makes the interview a little more interesting and allows banter between fighters. I don’t think Bisping has overplayed the hype at all and I think you are all acting like little girls about this. Hughes Serra was well overhyped but this is just Bisping saying, I feel like people are under judging me, I feel I’m the better fighter, he’s said some things about me and I’m going to show him to respect me as a fighter. GSP and Fedor are two of the most boring people to interview ever. “I’m not looking past my opponent, I respect his skill, I’m prepared but I don’t want to go into details, I’m in the best shape of my life…” ok well now that we have the transcript for all of Fedors and GSP’s interviews lets just copy and paste them for all other fighters because thats what Beanie thinks is the right way to generate interest in a fight.

by Cogito Ergo Sum on Jul 9, 2009 12:31 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Yeah, the Hughes-Serra thing was overdone. Serra was saying how much he truely hates Hughes, then he walks over to hug him after the fight.

by Stryker on Jul 9, 2009 12:38 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Seriously.

Dan Henderson is nowhere near his level?

What!?

Whose level is Dan Henderson nowhere near, the only thing anyone MIGHT be able to say is Silva and I don’t even think that would be true. He went 5 rounds with Rampage and won round 1 against Silva.

by Bennie Blanco on Jul 9, 2009 11:03 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Personally, I find his trash talk far less grating than anything said by the Diaz brothers, or BJ for that matter.

Hope he wins, quite honestly.

WAR…………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………Hendo

by charr552 on Jul 9, 2009 12:13 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Bisping does come across as a cocky d-bag but he is right in one aspect:

His skills are underrated.

Bisping will create angles and pepper Hendo with strikes.

He will also be smart enough to avoid the clinch and hop on his bicycle.

Hendo will have to do alot of chasing for this one.

“I am the best in the world.”

#1, no one likes you if you win. #2, once you do lose to hendo now you REALLY lose all that respect that you said you deserve 150 times before the fight.

by Bennie Blanco on Jul 9, 2009 11:01 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Best of luck buddy. I still would like to see a decisive win by Bisping before I’m willing to admit he belongs in the top 5 MW’s. I will say that I can’t firmly say Hendo is going to win this fight, but I am fairly confident it will go to decision.

by Cogito Ergo Sum on Jul 9, 2009 10:43 AM EDT reply actions   0 recs

I am a huge Nisping fan, and I think its a tradgedy how under rated his skills are simply because people dont like him. His skills are tremendously overrated and people dont realize how Big and fast he is at middleweight and what a great athlete he is. Very few people give him the credit he deserves for having a granite chin. I KNOW that his skills are NO JOKE, now all he has to do is prove it against a big name opponent….and thats where Hendo comes in!

WAR BISPING! Dead serious!

just don’t bet money on it.

by roy on Jul 9, 2009 12:03 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

john you are funny, Granite Chin? Who has he fought with power to display that? Dont say Leben because Leben never hit him since he was running the whole time, which is fine, but it doesn’t prove he has a Granite Chin. When Bisping takes Dan’s best overhand rights and doesn’t go down, then I will agree with you…until then the jury is out on his chin.

This doesn’t matter anyway because despite what any of the fighters are saying, Dan is going to take Bisping down and prove to Bisping he cannot wrestle and then GnP him into a TKO or Descision.

by Chadx23 on Jul 9, 2009 1:22 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

I actually think Bispings chin is pretty strong. In terms of granite I’m not so sure but I agree Hendo will be a good person to test that theory. I really don’t want to see Hendo take this fight to the ground. I have a feeling if he does it’ll end up controversial a lot like the Franklin fight. I can’t have another fight go like that, it just isn’t worth my money. If Hendo does take him down he better GnP him out, but if it goes to decision I don’t think Hendo should get a title shot. IMO if one of these fighters can’t finish the other they might as well go home because they aren’t going to be able to compete with the Spider.

by Cogito Ergo Sum on Jul 9, 2009 1:45 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

This mysterious “granite chin” of Bisping all stems from him taking a punch or two from an overhyped UK gy named Epstein.

My recollection of Bisping’s chin is him gutting stunned as f*ck from a phantom strike by The King of Rock and Rumble himself, Elvis Sinosic.

by ViolentMike on Jul 9, 2009 3:02 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

“forrest vs page” was so close it could have went either way, but I agree with you on the rest of those fights.

He beat Hammil plain and simple?!

After that fight I remember coming on this site.

I believe it was at least 60-80% who thought that was the wrong decision. That isn’t plain and simple.

Plain and simple is GSP beat Jon Fitch. It was 50 to 45 on like every card.

GSP vs Penn I (as I saw it)…
Round 1 – 10-9 Penn
Round 2 – 10-9 GSP

hahaha You guys are crazy! I dont understand why Bisping is so underrated. He is a solid smart fighter. He will be around for a long time because of his style. He will beat Hendo. Im telling you that right now. He will beat Hendo. Thats twice now. haha I have all the respect in the world for Hendo, but his time is past and he will lose this one. His only real chance is to hope for a KO. Bisping will stuff the takedowns and he will stick and move to a decision. Mark my words. Hendo only wins with KO/TKO… bottom line. Bisping can avoid the big shot all day long and keep peppering his face until the end.

Thats the only way Bisping can win. Hendo can beat him in so many ways. Hendo has so much more power and such a great chin. He went 5 rounds with Rampage! And he took a few clean licks. Just look at Dan’s last 3 fights – Rampage, Silva, Franklin. Look at Bisping’s last 3 – McCarthy, Day, Leben. Nuff said.

this fight is going to a decision…how do i know? for the simple fact that hendo is in it…its a sure thing…combine his (t)kos and subs together and they still dont equal his decisions..

dan is the godfather of boring, worthless, lay n pray….he invented it…the guy does not know how to finish a fight…

clay guida has finished a higher percentage of his fights than hendo has..clay has won 8 of his 25 fights by decision…dan has won 13 of his 24 fights by decision…one thing about a dan henderson fight is that you know you can go take a shit during one of his fights and you sure as fuck arent gonna miss anything..

takedown lay there…repeat…bell ring…etc…judges scorecard…

i hope bisping wins just so anderson doesnt have to waste one of his 3 remaining fights after forrest on a rematch with this lame fuck dryhumping him…

Bisping is gonna get OWNED! Come Saturday night he will be property of Hendo. It’s a great feeling to know that I’m gonna get to see him convulsing this weekend.

WAR BISPING right who gonna give me a beating lol its funny how americans say they dont hate bisping because he is english but i always see you all calling him a limey d bag and british punk ect. If i thought someone was a dick i wouldn’t say he is a yank window licker just a window licker. I like hendo and i really dont know who will win but even if bisping wins he still won’t get the american fans respect so i say F u C K your respect stick it up your arse at least he has the balls to fight an mma legend in hendo on the biggest mma event EVER infront of a massive crowd of americans who will be wanting bispings blood while you struggle to get the tv remote off your sister or F u C k ugly wife to watch the damn thing i give my respect to bisping for that alone win or lose he has done us proud.

The whole debate on scoring fights can only be solved by judgibg the entire fight as a whole. We can argue all day about who should have won, but the current scoring system means that we are wasting our time arguing.

The way it works now would be equivalent to a football team scoring 17 points in the first quarter on special teams, while the other team scores 7 on offence…but the team with 17 points goes on to lose the game simply because the team that scored 7 in the first quarter maintained ball control longer throught the last three quarters, without scoring any more points. It’s pretty stupid if you think about it…the end result is 17-7, but the team with 7 points wins because they controlled the flow of the game better.

bisping by decision…the only thing he has to do is defend the takedown…thats it…thats all dan has to offer…that “big right hand” how many of his 30 fights have been ended because of that “big right hand”? about as many as fedor has ended from people leaping at him with a flying knee…

make dan stand up more than 63 seconds and he will get confused…hes not used to blood rushing down to his feet when he fights…he sure as hell isnt gonna outstrike bisping…

dan is like a dog who is happy to see his owner when he comes home from work…just runs and leaps on him for a takedown

Same thing people said about Hammill.

Hendo by GnP …. all day long.

by introvert on Jul 9, 2009 1:00 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Exactly, of his 31 fights dan henderson has only stopped 7 of his oponents he has 17 decision wins

Like bisping said in his video with the telegraph the only people dan has knocked out stood in front of him with no feet or headwork and practically begged to be finished.

Bisping wont stand in front of him waiting to be hit so how people expect dan to KO bisping is beyond me

He aint called decision dan for nothing

He won’t KO him, but he’ll take him down all day long.

One more decision for “Decision Dan”.

by introvert on Jul 9, 2009 1:09 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

That could deffinately happen…

I dont think it will. but whoever wins this fight is doing so by decision

Bisping has no KO’s and 17 TKO’s 2 decisions and one loss (officially)

People will say that he hasn’t fought anyone like the fighters Hendo has faced and that is certainly true but henderson didn’t fight 31 superstars either the majority of his fights were against no marks he was expected to beat and most of them he took to decision.

by Confused on Jul 9, 2009 4:50 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

All i gotta say is look at what hendo has done vs bisping…look at th ecompetition each faced…respect should be given to where its due…regadlress of if u know ur gonna win or not…more sh!t talking brings more media…so he wanted that..he is a foo.

by What? on Jul 9, 2009 1:05 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Right he will run around..this i will be a boring fight to watch…

Bisping didnt even beat mat hammill…not in my book…

by What? on Jul 9, 2009 1:12 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Bisping is very overrated.

The best fighter he beat was Chris Leben at 185 and people act like he is a top 10 fighter.

The guy almost got KO’d by Elvis Sinosic, should have lost his decision to Hamill.

The amount of shit he talks is amazing for someone who has accomplished less in the sport than anyone on the main card of UFC 100, yes even Alan Belcher who beat Denis Kang, Jorge Santiago and Ed Herman is higher ranked than Bisping.

But there are so many Bisping nuthuggers that developed their crush from the TV show that they defend him at every turn, no matter how stupid the things he says are.

As a fighter he has potential, as a person he does not.

Love how most people rooting for Bisping all say he’ll get the “decision.” Says a lot when even your fans take it for granted it will go to the judges.

Prefight “I hate that guy grr” HYPE is so WWF. Especially when after the fight they’ll be all hello kitty with the hugging and shoulder pats.

If you really hate the guy please stick to your guns and continue to be a dick after you win/lose. Just annoying to see someone be a douche before the fight and then they become all magnanimous after the fight.

I bet Bisping gets KTFO in the 2nd round by a big Hendo right hand to the jaw and then Hendo gives him a flying forearm shiver for good measure. Thank goodness we won’t have to listen to his annoying voice in the post fight interview by Rogan.
