way off topic but well worth a watch. trying to kep my mind off ufc 100 – its like a kid waiting for christmas. Anyway About a week ago a bunch of Australian Muay Thai fighters went over to Jamaica for a card and there was a long awaited superfight between Nathan Corbett and Tyrone Spongg. This fight has been building up for a while and a bit of background that makes it interesting is that Corbett is king of the elbows and Spong had only agreed to take the match under modified thai rules with elbows not allowed. Video here – fight split over two videos, watch bottom one first. Enjoy http://www.fansofk1.com/article?aID=2277&Category=3

I have been to a few training sessions with Peter Graham in the new Sydney Boxing works so decided to look up some of his K1 fights – check out his war with Badr Hari here – http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QG7z9qQ7oqY teh awesome

by paniczoo on Jul 5, 2009 11:44 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Spong was doing pretty good but just like with Saki, another right hook puts him away. Seriously though that was some bs ruling- no way he was coming back from that. Also the fight was already called off before everyone went chute boxe-hammerhouse. How can you reverse a referee stoppage. Let’s hope we get another fight with full thai rules.

the dude in the SPong vs Corbett fight was extremely annoying can you be anymore biased, he should never ever commentate again!
Peter Graham well, I don’t like him at all! Im glad that Badr avenged that loss and showed who the better fighter is…

I love pranks and just plain ol being a shit disturber and all, but I don’t think this should have been titled “UFC 100 Blog”

I do love Dana’s blogs but I sure was disappointed with this one.

Im telling you guys, do not ever credit Dana White!
He is an egomaniac that markets himself over the fighters and the sport just because he can..

by RoB on Jul 6, 2009 9:46 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

but he does a great job…Dana is as marketable as any fighter..if it isn’t broke, don’t fix it…its not like he’s not marketing fighters as well

by McArthur on Jul 6, 2009 9:48 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Dana makes a lot of MISTAKES and I find myself bashing him alot…but truth be told, half of this site is people who just watch the UFC. EXCLUSIVE FANS!!! hahaha, without Dana, all the EXCLUSIVE fans probably wouldnt be watching mma today because the UFC would have failed (they were damn close). No matter what we think of Dana, all his flaws, and mistakes…what he has done for mma in America has been nothing short of remarkable. I do think that some of the decisions he has made in the past 2 or 3 years…were completely WRONG! I also believe that the UFC could be even more successful by nOW if Dana made better decisions…but he works his ass off and without Dana, I doubt we would be watching UFC 100 this up coming weekend.

by JOhn G on Jul 6, 2009 10:15 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

yes he does a good job, but he is not as marketable as any fighter =) that’s just what he’s always wanted to be, I think it’s time to change strategy and realize that it’s wrong to market himself over the fighters cause they are the one’s ppl tune in on saturdays to watch, and that’s whats making him and his friends money..

by RoB on Jul 6, 2009 10:16 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Rob, serious question okay dude, no direspect meant at all but, are you a fighter that got turned down by the UFC or something.
Maybe it’s just me over analyzing but, you seem to really hate this guy. I understand the guys that don’t care for Dana’s approach, and that’s a fair debate but, you seemto have a deep rooted core hatred for Dana.
You don’t have be to be a UFC fanatic but, what gives?

by Jrandolph on Jul 6, 2009 11:24 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

why RoB? explain to me why he isn’t as marketable as fighters cause apparently he is…imo they should concentrate on the fighters more but people seem to be identifying with Dana none-the-less…you, me, and the Maniacs are a small % of people who follow closely and actually know what we’re talkin about whereas the population in general doesn’t know jack…

by McArthur on Jul 6, 2009 11:24 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

ok Jrandolph, that was a nice theory you came up with =) my answer to your question is no, im not a fighter at all MMA ain’t even my sport, I know absolutely everything about football (soccer) and sports is just my thing i guess i know pretty much about everything…

Mac, the thing is that it’s not about why he is or isn’t as marketable the point is that he shouldn’t make himself “the man” because he isn’t fighting and he is not an athlete so he has nothing to even be marketed for…

by RoB on Jul 6, 2009 1:01 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

if you’re talking to us americans (non mexican), saying you know everything about “football” (soccer) is like saying you know everything about gay sex! It’s the worlds biggest sport, but not here!

by kevin on Jul 6, 2009 1:09 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

lol…RoB, I agree or at least agree to disagree buddy…I undersatnd what your saying but still think there’s enough publicity for both Dana and the fighters ;)

by McArthur on Jul 6, 2009 1:40 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

ok, but the thing is that you americans are “gay” for not liking soccer, team USA is good btw!
if you say you like baseball or american football here or anywhere in europe then ppl will look at u like you’re from a different planet..

yeah, i think Dana has too many fans on his side so that when a fighter opens his mouth he gets smashed and ppl will only agree with what Dana says cause he has media on his side, and puts on all these so called dream fights which has nothing to do with anything it’s just a way of pleasing the fans..

by RoB on Jul 6, 2009 4:30 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Okay, so why the hate? Is it because of the “American arrogance” stereo type or something, and why do you favor Affliction over the UFC by such a seemingly wide margin?(assuming you are not American, with the whole soccer thing)

I’m happy Affliction’s doing their thing, but as a supplement to the UFC. If I lke Affliction, why would I not like the bigger better version?

by Jrandolph on Jul 6, 2009 4:44 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

for the most part you are correct…I personally enjoy Dana’s “outspoken” side more than when he tries to be politically correct

by McArthur on Jul 6, 2009 4:48 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

I’m not dumb enough to not realize how big soccer is rob! I personally just find it boring! Nothing wrong with liking it though!

by kevin on Jul 6, 2009 4:54 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Jrandolph, you lost me…who favors affliction so much??!!
intro does, but he’s canadian!

by kevin on Jul 6, 2009 5:11 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Sorry Kev, Rob does (favor Affliction, IMO) from posts on other threads, and I’m assuming Rob is not American since he refered to soccer as football.

by Jrandolph on Jul 6, 2009 5:15 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

what? hehe i think you’re mixing me up with someone, I love the fights in the UFC!
UFC is where the best fighters at so that’s what i watch…
I watch Strikeforce too i watch all my favorite fighters no matter where they go!

no i am not american, but i do love america!

by RoB on Jul 6, 2009 7:04 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Rob is just a little misguided, football is for pussies and he knows it, that’s why he’s always trying to act hard and put everything down, insecure much?.. the fact that its so popular is just because it appeals to the lowest common denominator.
Football is to sport as Mcdonalds is to food, as the spice girls are to music and as kimbo is to MMA.

Funny stuff….for about a minute!

How this has ANYTHING to do with 100 i don’t know…

ANYWAYS,

Just watch the first UFC GREATEST 100. Really liked it. Good fights chosen so far and i really like how they bring in the fighters themselves to give their thoughts on the bout.

can’t wait for the rest!

Guida/Griffin or Chuck/Wandy should get the number one spot… But as we all know it will MOST LIKELY go to Bohnnar/Forrest.

The first show was good. I do agree the fighters “grounded” comments have been very good so far. Some of the old forgotten great matches are good to see. Can’t wait for the rest.

by RoB on Jul 5, 2009 10:41 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

So why do you even bother to watch the blogs??

I think you and a few others (Introvert, attackdog, roy to name a distinct few) watch these blogs so you can pick something out about Dana and turn it into a negative. If you don’t like Dana, don’t watch. I don’t like football, so I don’t watch it or even talk about it. Pretty simple concept.

Introvert has got to be my favorite poster on this site!
I like when guys try to go at him just cause he broke the truth for them and picked their dreamworld apart..

why i watch is simple, i wanna see the fighters and something about the event atleast something that has to do with the fights, not a bald guy playing around with his rich friends to try to get publicity so fanboys like you will take his words like it came straight out of god’s mouth..

haha…you guys are entitled to your opinion and I respect it but how good do you want it…like John said, it wouldn’t be the same without Dana just like MMAMania wouldn’t be the same without intro…what more do you want from the UFC or MMA in general?…as far as I’m concerned things couldn’t be much better and I think Dana is owed a lot of the credit for that

by McArthur on Jul 6, 2009 11:27 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

The comment section was funnier than the blog, after watching that I knew Intro and Rob would rip this one to shreds. Pretty laughable that the first vlog for 100 was 10 minutes of fart and sex jokes.

And that, ladies and gentlemen, is how the president of the UFC spends his working days: playing pranks on his employees. It’s a miracle anything actually gets done around there. ;P

The machine gun was a poor first choice, since it immediately gave away the fact that someone was joking around. It would’ve probably been funnier if they’d just gone straight in with the x-rated sounds (at a very low volume — just loud enough for the guy to hear “something” dodgy-sounding). Then we might have seen some amusing “WTF?!” reactions. A wasted opportunity.

MONDAY MORNING CONVERSATION:
Good morning guys, had a few topics, but gonna keep it on UFC 100. I may not be on much this week (my son has football camp) so I’ll give my predictions.
Bisping will win a decision. I have to stick with it since I predicted a year ago that he and Silva would meet in late 2009 for the title.
I’ll be rooting for Alves for a few reasons. I don’t care for GSP is the main reason, but if Alves wins, we get an instant rematch. If GSP wins, what’s left for him a WW? He’s cleaned out the division, and it’s time to put on weight and move to MW! There are more possibilities for Alves at WW and realistically nothing left for GSP to prove. As much as I don’t like him, there is no one at his level in the UFC (unless they bring in Nick Diaz)!
I got Mir. The more I break this fight down, the more I give it to Mir! He has to look for Brock’s right hand and that’s it! Brock won’t stop Mir with hammer fists on the ground (but will get submitted), and his right comes in so predictable that Mir should be able to avoid it! I’m gonna go out on a limb and pick Mir by KO!
**********************************************************************
Off topic to Alpha male and any one else I offended (canadian). I apologize. After reading alpha’s rant, I had to ask my wife if she wrote it. It was word for word one of her usual lectures about me being a sociopath and arrogant. It really isn’t my intention, it’s just me. Sorry I bring up obscure things like a 12k run at poker (in 6 weeks) or my job. I’m just being me and being honest! I would never bash anyone for doing the same or brag to make someone feel like a douche! If you got a good new job, I’d congratulate you (like I did with Chefdaddy), if you graduated college I’d do the same (like John). I could get my mma news from any of a dozen or more sights, I come here for my peeps in the comment section! We make mania what it is! My intentions are not to hurt anyones feelings or come off too much like a dick! I have talked to or texted many guys off the site and obviously have put together a trip to 101 for almost 20 maniacs so we can chill for a weekend and watch mma with guys we chat with every day! You are all (most of you) very knowledgeable, and I enjoy chatting with you immensely! I won’t change who I am, but know I truly am not trying to offend anyone and am sorry if I did. Sorry also that this is John like in length!

by McArthur on Jul 6, 2009 9:14 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

I offending Alpha weeks ago about canadians….. but i still don’t really know what I said.

I don’t know what Kev said but people (including me) get touchy when speaking about countries and sometimes things get misunderstood. Generally everyone on this site is great.

by MoonUK on Jul 6, 2009 10:38 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Kev, I have learned to take every comment in stride. I find myself agreeing with you half the time and with John the other half of the time, but never take it to seriously.

Truth is, if all we did was come on and tout our “MMA” knowledge without the sarcastic, occasionally insulting banter, it would not be worth reading or posting.

Keep it real, and raw, playing nice is for Canadians (just kidding, relax my friends from the north).

I’ve changed my mind about my opinion of Dana. In fact Dana and I are thinking of having a child together. We’ve discussed it and we came up with the name “Best Baby of All Timessssssss”. It has a good ring to it, and can be used for a girl or a boy.

Disclaimer: The name “Best Baby of All Timesssssss” is copyright of Introvert, Dana White and Zuffa. Any use of the name (in whole or in part) is subject to Zuffa’s “we want own everything and anything” copyright laws.

Dude, you sound like that girl in highschool, you know the one who always went around telling everyone how much she hated the smart kid from homeroom, and then ended up marrying him cause she really secretly loved him all along…ahh, I love a good story.

Seriously, you have to mention Dana more than anyone on this site, besides Rob maybe. I like Dana, but I think you actually hate him to the point that if he were no longer with us, you would have a liitle hole in your heart, and might not know what to post about.

…well, never mind, you would always have, (sigh) Attencio.

Rob Im a huge football fan also (soccer) but some of your comments are contradictory to say the least. id like to know who you support, please dont say chelsea!!

In every sport there are guys who do things differently, and if you look closer they are the guys that generally do well, ie, Dana (UFC), Morinho (porto, chelsea, milan). If anything he is more so of a tabloid wanna be!!

Dana isnt publishing these dvds in shops, hes simply providing an insight into a guy that many of us highly respect UFC or not, and if you listen the introduction explains its their new offices so its got a little ufc in there!! I personally find it very humble of himself to show a normal and fun life that he shares with us. And as has been said before, if you dont like it fucking watch them!!!

I do like Chelsea yess because they have players that i like, most of all i like Anelka!!!
but my team in England is Newcastle and i do like Blackburn too, but the team that i like the most is AS Roma…

I do love José Mourinho he’s the best and he tells it like it is, and he’s in another position than Dana is and way more proffessional too he’s not an idiot that drops 30 f-bombs!

I do not support Dana’s decisions, how he pays his fighters and how goes about things, MMA is incomparable to football so i don’t really like to talk about it that way..
the UFC are bigger than the sport and the fighters

hahaha im a newcastle fan aswell!! Unlucky for us. However if you want to see how not to run a business then newcastle are exactly what you would look at, as much as it pains me they are a laughing stock of football and have been for some time.

I agree with a few of your points, however you stated that ufc is different from football and i agree with that, but then that surely opens the door to running the ufc differently from football?? And thats exactly what dana does, and whether we agre or disagree he has done a great job and made the ufc a unique product.

And as for Roma, Totti is one of the dirtiest sportsmen out there, to spit on fellow professionals is plain wrong and to mwe thats ten times worse than the “f” word!!!!
