UFC 107: Rampage Jackson to fight Rashad Evans in Memphis this December (Video)

It's certainly not a formal announcement from the promotion (far from it) but interesting nonetheless:

The FedExForum in Memphis is the likely destination some time in mid to late December.

NO shot in hell that world class rampage loses to Rashad “the FRAUD” Evans in Memphis. Rashad is going to suffer his 2nd brutal KO in a row

by John G on Jul 2, 2009 1:49 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

John…you must be drinking the same kool aid that Quinton was drinking when he went psycho cause there is no way in hell that Sugar is getting beat by a rockem sockem robot with no footwork like Quinton. Rashad is going to work the angles and set a massive KO that’ll force Dana to give Rashad another shot at HIS title…buhleee dat!

by Buster Bluth on Jul 2, 2009 11:05 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Nah, Shad isn’t going to beat someone with better hands, better defense, and a better chin. The wrestling is about even, and both seem to have forgotten that weapon anyway. Shad’s going to sleep two fights in a row. Machida-Page spring of 2010.

by Diceman on Jul 2, 2009 12:39 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Buster: Rampage’s chin doesnt allow him to get ko’ed, unless you are wanderlei and you catch him with 15 knees in a row. Sorry but Suga wont be able to do that…Rashad has never beat a fighter with good stand up…please dont bring up chuck LIddell!

I guarentee Rampage wins this fight.

by John G on Jul 2, 2009 4:33 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

It’s not about his chin it’s about his defense…
Rampage’s boxing is just too good, you could almost call Rampage a boxer and Rashad a puncher cause Rashad’s just moving around and is good at throwing fast punches there’s really not too much skill to what he does…

Hell yah baby you know what your talking about.

by babygurl on Jul 16, 2009 8:56 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

How is this not an official statement? haha. Also, I give a big thumbs down to the Las Vegas hat that Rampage is wearing (and the other guy promotes at the end). Save that for NY Yankees, it looks ridiculous when it is done for everything else.

If the real Page shows up, then its a win. Mentally and physically he needs to be on and its his.

go to youtube, go to channel rvdtito4life and check those guys video’s out, about the UFC/Strikeforce Dana/Tito and basically everything about the business..
That will shut up all Dana/UFC lovers that doesn’t think the UFC runs a corrupt business!..

btw Rampage for the win!!

by RoB on Jul 1, 2009 11:53 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

If your a Tito fan you will buy into his BS, fact is in every business there will be happy and unhappy employees. Tito’s ego and mouth went to far with Dana and then caused a battle between empoyee and employer and I would have to say like most business the employer won. Fact is there are a lot more happy fighters fighting for Dana now than there is unhappy. It’s cool that you like Tito and cheer for him but the fact is the UFC is the most watched MMA organization in the world and most likely always will be.

by Beaver on Jul 2, 2009 12:55 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Agree with Beaver…who do you respect more Rob tito or GSP,Anderson,Nog? the list goes on and on….they all seem happy to me….Tito is upset becuase he can’t fight anymore with top level fighters…

by Robert(1) on Jul 2, 2009 8:51 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Tito without a doubt… Tito’s fough top level fighters all along, and has had close fights with all of them except for Machida who is the LHW champion right now…
I agree with everything they say, people may not wanna realize it, but everything is true and Dana is the biggest liar on earth!

by RoB on Jul 2, 2009 10:03 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Close fights? Chuck floored him twice, Randy completely dominated him and spanked him on PPV; Guy Metzger subbed him in the 1st rd and Frank Shamrock schooled his @ss everywhere. If you look at ALL of Tito’s loss’s, they aren’t close fights; they’re just beat downs.

by O damn he got caught on Jul 2, 2009 10:21 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Cept the Machida fight; niether guy really took any dmg until the end when Tito got dropped. Probably one of the few fights where I was actually rooting for Ortiz.

by O damn he got caught on Jul 2, 2009 10:22 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

yeah right, you know what i meant… he can be competitive against almost anybody, and he came back to beat the crap out of Mezger…

by RoB on Jul 2, 2009 10:45 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Yea he won the rematch; doesn’t change the fact that Metzger subbed him in the first rd the first time they fought

by O damn he got caught on Jul 2, 2009 10:57 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

no but to somehow say that Mezger is or was better than Tito is not true… He made a rookie mistake that time

by RoB on Jul 2, 2009 11:01 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Yea but at least Metzger had a stand up game; his ground game wasn’t bad either he just got out muscled by the bigger fighter. Honestly, IMO Metzger is/was the better technician everywhere, he just couldn’t physically overcome Ortiz’s strength.

by O damn he got caught on Jul 2, 2009 11:30 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

well..this is just it..rarely do you find the word business with out corrupt in front of it..and dana helps run a mega corp. and they have way more $$ and can win any legal battle cuz they could pay any fee to win..and sure UFC does not pay boxing type purses..but even they (boxing) promoters are crooked..i don’t want to see someone like tyson way back in the early 90’s get 10 million dollars to win a 10 second fight..a frickin million a second??..
i am not defending UFC cuz who can..they have only helped the sport of mma get out there while lining their pockets very well..lucky them..and lucky for the people who make a decent amount fighting for them..

by sarah on Jul 2, 2009 1:05 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

It’s not Tyson’s fault he was a beast, he’s KO’d more people inside of 5 rds than anyone else in boxing. They were paying him good money to knock out world class talent, IMO if you can take an olympic gold/silver medalist and hand them their @ss in 1 rd then you deserve the cash. Seriosly… who does that??? I think he managed to blow through about $300,000,000.00 though.

by O damn he got caught on Jul 2, 2009 7:59 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Hey Sarah I agree with you on certain points but it’s Tyson’s own fault now that he has no money…he just didn;t do the right thing at the right time with his money…give me 10 mil and me and my children and their chidren and their children will be taken care of…..

by Robert(1) on Jul 2, 2009 8:54 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

good call Robert…I have no sympathy for Tyson either

by McArthur on Jul 2, 2009 9:04 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

But what if one of your kids or their kids turns out to be the next Tyson…

by O damn he got caught on Jul 2, 2009 9:28 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Tyson was a street kid who had little to no education. He had/has a low IQ. He was literally handed over to Cus D’Amato and adopted. Cus trained him into a world class fighter and was a father figure to him. Then Cus died. After that, Mike’s personal decisions went to sh*t and his world unraveled.

I feel sorry for Mike Tyson because he is a borderline mentally handicapped person. Seriously.

by McArthur on Jul 2, 2009 10:56 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

He’s not a smart man but I don’t know about mentally handicapped; I think emotionally he’s completely out of control; or was anyway. It was like he HAD to act on impulse, he had no restraint. And yea, aside from the man that adopted him he had no one; everyone rode his coat tails for the $$$ he really didn’t have anyone around him that genuinly gave a damn. Mike just got married again btw, last month.

Hey, at least you guys have had the ufc before. Memphis has never had mma legalized, until late last year.I will definitely be going. I am so f&cking psyched about seeing Rampage stomp Evans. Put that cocky sob in his place. He’s getting too big for his britches, the stunt with Liddel, kissing his hand and patting his crotch…Seriously, there’s a little something called “Unsportsmanlike conduct.”

As per the mike tyson thing, I really do feel bad for him. He may not be the brightest star in the sky, but what he lacks in intelligence he makes up for in brutal power and technique. Having to deal with your father figure passing (and now, four year old daughter), on top of evertyhing else he’s been through, like the rape charges and losing the money, and his downfall from the top. To say the least, he is a tough motherf*cker mentally to still be here through all of that. Congrats to him on getting married, btw. He always was one of my favorite boxers, or fighters period, for that matter.

I wanna see some opinion on this. Who do you think has a better ground game between page & tito? Let me hear some comparison cause I really wanna see them fight.

by ryan on Jul 2, 2009 7:30 AM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Page, by far; see Hendo vs Rampage; then try to find a Tito fight where he displays anything remotely close to that skill level. Lets face it.. Ortiz is a big, strong, athletic guy with no stand up and a mediocre ground game.. About the only thing he’s mastered is the lay n pray technique

by O damn he got caught on Jul 2, 2009 8:37 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

And I don’t know why people are interested in Page vs Tito, IMO thats not even a competitive fight; Rampage would take his head off

by O damn he got caught on Jul 2, 2009 8:38 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

I doubt it…why doesn’t Tito get any credit…its not like he’s David Heath…he’s only fought world class talent and has done as badly as many of you think…I would give that fight to Page too but I think it would be very competitive

by McArthur on Jul 2, 2009 9:06 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

I wouldn’t give Tito a chance in hell, I don’t see how he could blanket Page for 3 rds and aside from blocking punch’s and defending himself his stand up is aweful, so the idea of Ortiz going toe to toe with Rampage and slugging it out is laughable.

by O damn he got caught on Jul 2, 2009 9:34 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

i would honestly be willing to bet my CAR that Rampage would not only beat, but FINISH TITO….if you guys ever believed a word I said, believe me when I tell you that its a match up that wouldnt even be close to being competitive…I am 1000% positive!

Tito’s has been training and competing in mma for over a decade, and still has amateurish stand up. Rampage would Ko tIto with ease, most likely in the 1st round! Tito would have no shot in taking Rampage down….and Tito doesnt have the ability to beat an opponent that he cant take down.

AS for who has the better ground game…Its not even close. For all the UFC nuthuggers that didnt follow much of PRIDE, before Rampage linked up with Juanito, his strong point was his ground game. He would slame his opponents down on the mat, and unleash Brutal G n P that even caused tough guy, Chuck LIddells corner to throw in the towel. Rampage is probably the best fighter in the world at g n p’ing his opponents body. Unlike tIto, Rampage is pretty good at passing guard…

Rampage would beat Tito 10/10 times! lucky for Tito, he gets to avoid rampage by hiding behind their friendship!

by JOhn G on Jul 2, 2009 9:45 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

IMO Couture showed everyone the extent of Tito Ortiz’s grappling skills and Chuck showed everybody Tito’s weak stand up. He’s a strong guy, thats big at LHW, but if he can’t get the TD he’s screwed. He comes out with a lot of energy and a lot of fight in rd 1; but he fades pretty quick as time goes on. He’s got a good chin, but he’s not really exceptional or elite at anything.

Back in his hey day, he was ok, but look at his rec, 2nd fight in he loses to Guy Metzger. Frank Shamrock schooled him, he ran into brick walls with Couture, Chuck and Machida. Every time he fights an elite guy he gets owned. IMO his biggest wins are Wandi and Vitor, who’ve both since dropped to MW and he went human blanket on both of them to win decisions and at one point in the Wanderlei fight literally turned his back and ran across the damn cage.

Yea in the early days he did a lot for the sport; he was a marketable charismatic fighter that the fans either loved or hated. Now a days, he’s only concerned with one thing, and thats $$$$.

by O damn he got caught on Jul 2, 2009 9:49 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

O Damn-

Truth.

by OJR on Jul 2, 2009 10:45 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

first off Tito came in with a injured back against Couture and he’s never been the same since then, granted he should have underwent the surgery back then but didn’t it is what it is…

Tito’s ground game in the UFC has been much better than Rampage’s, and that’s the only thing you need to know the elbows are like none other fighters and his jiu-jitsu is good too people just don’t wanna admit it because it’s Tito Ortiz, he is more talented than Rampage on the ground for sure, wrestling has nothing to do with it…

by RoB on Jul 2, 2009 10:57 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Odamn: GOOD POST! I am assuming that you are picking Rampage over Tito!

Never in my life will I get the image of tito turning his back on wanderlei and running away from wand for dear life, out of my head. He ran from 1 end of the octagon to the other, not even looking back. It honestly looked like Tito was running away from an actual axe murderer. sHAMEFUL on Tito’s part, then again….by now, we all know that Tito has NO SHAME! Kalib starnes ran away for a longer period of time, but Tito’s SPRINT was much more pathetic if you ask me….he literally RAN FOR DEAR LIFE!!! PRICELESS!!!!

Question: Lets put a side Tito’s BLANKETING wins over Vitor and Wandy. What was the most impressive win of Tito’s career? i honestly cant really think of a time when I saw Tito fight, and was like DAMN, he looked impressive.

I guess I would have to say that his most impressive win was probably the 1st Ken Shamrock fight….that just shows how Over rated of a career Tito has had!

by JOhn G on Jul 2, 2009 10:58 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Im not interested at all in seeing Rampage vs Tito because they are boys and i can promise you that Rampage isn’t satisfied with what the UFC are paying him so that’s why he needed to do another TUF show…

by RoB on Jul 2, 2009 11:05 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Yea he might have submission skills but what good are they if he never uses them?? With the exception of a Neck Crank on Yuki Kondo and the triangle attempt on Machida I can’t say I’ve ever seen him even going for subs. As far as Rampage, the only fighter going to the ground in that fight would be Ortiz after eating a left or a right hook. I don’t even think Page would bother getting into a grappling match with him cause his hands are that much better; there’s no reason to. As far as Ortiz getting TD’s and GnP Rampage Jackson for 3-5 rds; forget about it, no ones done it yet and I definatley don’t think Tito would be the guy to do it first. And Tito got owned in the Couture fight; he was crying from the second they announced the decision all the way through the press conference. He knew in his heart, injury or not, that he lost that fight.

by O damn he got caught on Jul 2, 2009 11:10 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

I’m with you 100% on that one John

by O damn he got caught on Jul 2, 2009 11:16 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

yes he did lose to Couture, in a fight that he would have knocked Couture out on the feet if it stayed there, Tito back then was explosive and had fast combos and kicks…
John you wanna watch Machida literally running across the octagon for Tito not to hit him, he did it all the time…

by RoB on Jul 2, 2009 11:19 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

No way; no how, he hasn’t KO’d ANYBODY in his entire carreer from a standing position with strikes. Not ONE. I can’t even think of a fight where he even rocked someone on the feet. All his TKO’s are GnP stoppage. You should watch that fight again, of the two Randy is the only one with any sort of head movement, Tito couldn’t even land a shot in the few brief exchanges where he had the opportunity to.

by O damn he got caught on Jul 2, 2009 11:26 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

he rocked Ken Shamrock at UFC 40, and Ken back then had a pretty good chin!

by RoB on Jul 2, 2009 11:37 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Lol, alright RoB, I’ll give you that one. I guess Tito’s just your fighter; I can understand that. We’ll see what he does if he ever fights again. At this point I’m wondering wtf the hold up is..

by O damn he got caught on Jul 2, 2009 11:49 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

And I’m not an Ortiz hater; thats just honestly how I assess his skills/carreer/quality of his wins and the way he won. There’s plenty of times where I’ve rooted for Tito to come out on top; in fact aside from when he fought Vitor, Wand and Couture I really never rooted against him.

by O damn he got caught on Jul 2, 2009 11:54 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

BTW-

Machida does not run from anybody. That’s FACT.

You may hate his style but the W’s don’t lie.

I give Tito alot of credit for one thing, he never gave up in a fight. I.E., the armbar/triangle on Machida…

Yea I’m not forgetting that one; never in my life had I wanted Tito Ortiz to win that badly. And probably never again..

by O damn he got caught on Jul 2, 2009 12:27 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Tito wasn’t fighting Machida that time he fought the system that’s why every mofo in the world should have wanted Tito to win!..
They wanted Forrest to beat him and had Bonnar there to add bias to the commentary, and then in the last fight they totally set him up to lose to Machida who had never fought a big name fighter in the UFC before that because they knew he would beat all of them and make them look silly with his style, and then they match him up with Thiago Silva who’s not a big name again and doesn’t hurt the UFC at all if he took a loss, they knew he would embarrass Forrest, Chuck and all the UFC’s loverboys!…

In all reality Tito should have fought Rashad again, he needed some time off at first because of his back and then went to the apprentice which was a good thing for the UFC cause Tito’s fanbase would get stronger and it would bring some new fans to the UFC and get the brand out there… What’s fun though is that Rashad who couldn’t beat Tito gets Chuck who Dana and the boys thought would KO Shad for sure since he couldn’t beat Tito and that way get Chuck back to a title shot!
They got it in their face and i loved it!..
Then Dana tries to set Chuck up for a run at a title shot again with 3 losses in 4 fights by going really low and making himself look stupid when he offered Chuck to Shogun right after the Coleman fight

by RoB on Jul 2, 2009 2:13 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

OJR a win isn’t always a win, he did run from Tito you watch it… It’s a business you gotta please the fans and try to put on an entertaining fight, he’s gotten a little better at that in his last fights…

by RoB on Jul 2, 2009 2:15 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Imo that fight was basically a strikers version of Lay n Pray. You can’t really fault Machida for that though cause your boy Tito is guilty of the same tactic, just in grappling instead of striking.

by O damn he got caught on Jul 2, 2009 2:29 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

I agree, and nobody can cause he won, but i can say it was boring because it was..
What Tito wants is obvious it’s take guys down and smash them with elbows we all know that, and I think he’s very active on the ground with his GnP in every fight when he gets someone down, but it’s annoying when he’s trying too much to get it to the ground, cause he’s good with knees and elbows in the clinch and should use that instead of trying to force the fight to where he wants it…

Man I have remorse for Tyson. Ya he made more money then all us combined and then some, and we would prob make smarter decisions. But we didn’t grow up fighting since we were lil in the streets with no education. Its not like the guy is a book smart business man ha ha. Also u try taking punches most of which are strictly to the head fight after fight. That’s why these guys are worse for wear then mma fighters. They don’t get tapped or wrestle @ all which can sometimes get an mma fighter a win without being punched @ all. Look @ Ali etc, there brains are mush. They make poor decisions sometimes cuz they don’t kno any better. I love Tyson. Unreal highlights and accomplishments. Great for the sport. Bla bla he bit an ear. Who cares.

As for rashad? I hope rampage cleans him out with ferocious intentions. Scariest guy in the cage when they close that door. Who doesn’t appreciate a good staredown from him? Wow, guess just his opponents. Poor hendo when he had to to it. Cuz there friends n he tried smiling but ummm rampage hit the light switch and wasn’t having any of that friend SHIT lol. Go Jackson! Ill be sporting the 2 rampage shirts I have ill switch each round. Whoops maybe each minute I wouldn’t promise it goes 2 rounds
