Enter the Flo…2009 is not BJ’s year. The guy has been taking it easy for too long now. All we hear about is how hard Kenny is training for this fight. I haven’t heard anything about BJ other than he’s just chillin on the island. I hope he’s still carrying rocks underwater cause that seemed to improve his cardio and strength last time…lol. BJ is an example of wasted potential. He doesn’t train with anyone of consequence unless you count the insane one or rude boy. His brother walks around telling BJ how great he is all day long and rules his gym cause the rest of the people working out there completely suck compared to him.
Kenny has a great all around game and he’s the smartest in-cage fighter BJ has ever faced. I think BJ is going to get frustrated in this fight and get himself into trouble and make too many mistakes…you can’t make mistakes against Kenny. Florian is very patient and has no problems going 5 rounds and can wait BJ out until he makes a mistake. BJ didn’t gas against Sherk only because it was just a simple sparring session. A fight with Kenny is going to be way more grueling.

sick of talking about this fight already, but i do enjoy the jokes. I think its as simple as there not being a 155 lb man on the planet that can beat BJ or do significant damage to him. only times he was ever damaged was against GSp in the 2nd fight and Hughes in the 2nd fight. bOTH MEN were skilled but had power advantages over BJ. Both times he lost he got worn down physically..Kenny just doesnt have it physically to wear bJ down. He might do some damage with a leg kick or two, but BJ is usually good at checking them.
Both have world class skills,but the more physical fighter will win this fight and thats easily bJ Penn.

BJ’s conditioning is horrible if Kenny makes him work hard he’s gonna get tired, taking a beating slows you down… and BJ’s barely even an average athlete even though he’s a good fighter but that’s not always enough!…
there are a couple of guys at LW that could beat BJ and Diego is the one that is a 99% lock to beat BJ and he’s been that guy for a long time i knew it when they both fought at WW..

Ken-Flo is a very improved MMA stud but I don’t see it vs. BJ.
Getting beat down by one of the baddest men on the planet (GSP) does not mean that you are easy pickings.
BJ has beaten and lost to world beaters. Ken-Flo has improved.
That being said, BJ takes this. No doubt.

i love bj but his fight prep for gsp just looked terrible. carrying rocks underwater, speedwalking thru town, and training with a bunch of low to mid level fighters is not gonna get you to the next level. how about a muay thai and a strength/conditioning coach? i really hope bj prepared for this fight — he’s a hell of lot more talented than kenflo, but kenflo is no joke.

How can you say BJ Penn is “wasted potential” Bluster Bluth? Even if he does lose to Florian, he will go down as one of the greatest MMA fighters of all time and is a shoe in for the UFC Hall of Fame. The guy is a UFC welterweight and lightweight champion as well as BJJ world champion and he JUST turned 30!

I think Kenny will dance around and only engage lighly and sparringly in the first 2 rounds (think Huerta fight but much more cautious). Try to drag BJ into the championship rounds to test his cardio. Think Kenny is way too smart to try and go into this fight guns blazing. IMO he will fight a very technical, albeit at times not very exciting, fight.
Is there a site where you can bet the over under on the length of the fight?

First there is no way florian will submit bjpenn. Florian strategy is going to be very similar to the huerta fight i can gurantee that. You going to see a very cautious striker that is going ot try to get bj in the championship rounds then go from there. If Bj penn has good cardio for 5 rounds he will win this fight with ease. But when has bj had good cardio. I going with florian because i think he will sneak in a round in 1-3 and win both 4 and 5 when bj fades.
