Mac,
Agreed!
Would LOVE to see Tito in StrikeForce IF he can’t be in the UFC!
I’ve always been a HUGE Tito fan.
He holds wins over the 2 MOST RECENT UFC LHW Champs (i count regardless of the bullshit draw) previous to the NEWLY crowned Lyoto Machida, who he just faught and was the closest of ANYONE YET to FINISHING the new PHENOM!
He is a top 10 LHW for sure and would love to see him get in there and mix it up with guys like Babz, Mousassi, Soko, Fejao, etc.
WAR Tito :)

Tito is a bum, quit talking and start showing. Mania should refuse to put up news about this guy until he becomes relavant again. Until the day he is actually on a card and shows up to the fight, I won’t care what this guy has to say. This is just Mr. Irrelevant trying to be relavanat… and its working!

agreed Cogito Ergo Sum…I’m a Tito fan but enough is enough…as long as he gets attention giving blah, blah, blah interviews he’ll be satisfied with prolonging his rehab…if he wants to be a “household name” then he’ll have to fight to get my business…RoB, you can’t argue with that man. Even you must be getting tired of these delays
by McArthur on Jun 29, 2009 8:28 AM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
Besides Ken Shamrock, who was the last person Tito stopped in a fight? He has no stand up, and his wrestling hasn’t been the same for years…Rashad today would kill Tito
Belfort in my mind won 4 yrs ago
and Machida dominated every aspect of that fight, besides the last 30 seconds
Tito is done def not top ten.
by Robert(1) on Jun 29, 2009 8:51 AM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
Two wins? He did nothing absolutely nothing against Machida, both those submissions were weak and left Machida in no danger at anytime. I literally hate the people who say that kind of stuff. People would say that to me in wrestling all the time, I had you on your back but you won by points. blah blah, you lost loser get over it. Close but nothing else and even in Tito’s case he was not close.
Next I would like to say that Tito continually was warned and continued to hold the fence like a pusi. Rashad would have had top position for an entire round and would have GnP his face into the mat. Regardless of if Rashad would have finished Tito on the ground, he could have hurt him and affected him for the rest of the fight. This is why we give point deductions for holding the fence. another example would be Hughes Newton, when Newton held the fence long enough to choke Hughes out with a triangle but luckily that backfired in his face. Or Lesnar Mir, punches to the back of the head severly mess you up. Rules are rules and if you don’t follow them then take your loss like a man or finish the fight! But Tito is a business man these days and not a fighter.

tito is definitely not top 10~
he does have potential to get back in there, no doubt.

Wins over the last 2 champs, nice revisionist history there. The problem is only winners get to rewrite history, and Tito’s not a winner, lol.

THIS IS NOT A JOKE (I think):
Micheal Jackson will get inducted into the UFC hall of fame at UFC 100:
Jackson was known to be an avid mixed martial arts fan who secretly attended many UFC events. He was seen last seen at UFC 84 in May of 2008 concealing his identity to avoid gernering media attention, the president of the UFC Dana White praised Jackson for attending past UFC events and for his continuous support for mixed martial arts ;
I know Michael attended live UFC events a few times in the past. You know we lost a great ambassador for the sport and he truly help the sport grow, so offering a tribute is the least we can do.
White then announced a special post fight ceremony to be held where Michael Jackson will be inducted into the UFC Hall of Fame.
I know the hall of fame is more for the fighters, but Michael helped the sport grow so I think we can make an exception in this one instance.
Many fighters under the UFC banner were influenced by Jacksons music including current UFC Middleweight champion who himself expressed his interest in taking part in the tribute:
I first heard his music when I was very young. He touched me very much back then, I would love to perform ‘Thriller’ in honour of my idol. He [Jackson] deserves a good send off and I am happy that [the] UFC is paying their tribute to a legend.
Others influenced by Micheal Jackson included former Welterweight champion Matt Hughes,
"I know people think of me as just a country music fan, but his [Jackson’s] music transcended all social bounds. I would have to say my favourite song of his was ‘Dirty Diana’. I can remember days when I didn’t feel like training and I used to put that song on and it would get me fired up."

That has got to be the dumbest thing I have ever heard. MJ was an ambassador to the sport? In what way, he never tried to help the sport evolve, or support it in any other way than going to the show. This is the dumbest thing the UFC could have done. Maybe provide a tribute for the late Jackson but inducting him into the HOF? There are 100 other people who deserve to be there ten times more than MJ does. Mask, Tanner, Liddell, Wandy, Hughes, Franklin, Silva, Penn, Big John, various trainers, heck even Tito, I would rather have Dana White put his own name and the Fertitas in the HOF than MJ.

I’m so bored of Tito, he hasn’t fought since UFC 84 after months of false promises of record breaking deals. Sure he’s a big name and a master at hyping up a fight but I’m tired of these tedious interviews. Hopefully he’ll sign for someone soon because this is now getting ridiculous.
Hope you’re right about Roger Gracie John, the Cyborg-Carano card just got more interesting. And that Michael Jackson post made me laugh, I liked his music but he had absolutely no influence on MMA, nevermind the UFC, so I couldn’t think of a sillier HoF induction at this point. He would replace Shamrock as the least worthy HoF inductee.

I don’t see any situation where Jackson gets in the HOF, that just isn’t going to happen. That being said, I wouldn’t be surprised if they said something nice or maybe even showed a video, but that is about it.

plus with that armber, tito is the closest anyone has ever come to beating machida…and with that bullshit point taken away he beat rashad…dude has a lot of fight left in him depending on how hes healed from his surgery
by HellaHectic on Jun 28, 2009 11:30 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
It wasn’t an armbar it was a triangle.
by halljam2 on Jun 28, 2009 11:38 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
it was one than the other. Switching to the armbar is what allowed Machida to escape. Tito really annoys me. I don’t normally get mad at dumb people for being dumb, but Tito really thinks he’s the smartest man in the world. He puts words togeather that don’t even make sence. It’s like the guy doesn’t even listen to himself when he talks. That being said I’d still like to see him fight Babalu. But unless he’s fighting I could care less about Tito Ortiz.
by DB on Jun 28, 2009 11:59 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
Yeah but he did transition to an arm bar attempt once machida pulled his head out of the triangle so your both right
by lokie on Jun 29, 2009 12:14 AM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
Who cares, Machida was never in any danger in either attempts. He had a lose triangle on Machida so he transitioned to a very weak armbar attempt which again Machida escaped from. Thats like saying Chuck Liddell was one punch away from knocking Rashad out. Such a dumb arguement its not even funny.

I dont care much for tito. We really do not know how good he is. He has a win over Wanderlei Silva, belfort, forest and should have one the fight over Rashad. It was a draw. The forest and rashad fights were a couple of years back. He had a bad back during both of those fights. He has been out of the game for a while so we really do not know how good he is. You can bet one thing, like him or hate him he has sold more ppv numbers than any other fighter in the ufc. If you were to put him on a stike force card along with diaz in california somewhere, thier numbers would be through the roof.

Rob: I wouldn’t count any of those guys as top 10 LHW’s, but I agree he would smash them and could still be relevant if he gets fighting at his old level.
I can’t see him really competing again with the real top guys in the LHW division though.

I used to like Tito, he seemed to have this samurai like personality, but lately he’s been too much of a businessman. He’s taking credit from guys that are successful, that he had little to no influence on to make himself look better. Its business, but he sounds dirty. Tito has trained some other guys and none of them are noteable? If Hamil, Bisping, and Kendo, whom he had little to no influence on, is the best he can come up with then I don’t really see his business being successful.

I’m with you. I was a big fan, and would still love to see him fight but, all this talk in the third person about him being a “household name” is getting old.
By the way, if he wants to create a brand off of beng a world class fighter fine, but HE HAS TO FIGHT.
It is what is is Tito, people only know who you are cause’ you can fight. No one cares about your t-shirts or your pyramid scheme, or whatever. If you were that great of a busines man outside of fighting, you would have been bankrolling long before you ever needed to fight, and you’d be paying $5,000 a pop to see some other poor sap get the crap bet out of him for $2,000. Enough with the charade dude, just fight somebody already!

Tito would be a huge draw for Strikeforce. Personally, I think he should fight possibly a can or someone not of the highest calibre as a warm up fight coming off of the surgery and all before he fights someone like Babalu, Mousasi, or maybe even Little Nog.

Its crazy for the ufc not to reinstate tito on their books, like him or hate him hes a draw, and to say he irrelevant its plain silly!! He has performed against the elite and has had no easy fights along the way, if we are saying he irrelevant then we are saying that chuck is irrelevant and hes my fav fighter!! There is no way in hell that tito is not a contender if he returned, plus if you look at the 205 division its dwindling of the big names at the moment!!
I for one would happily have him as a main event card over here in the uk, compared to other cards we have had. dana needs to let it go and sign him up!!

I dont know why people think the point deductions from ortiz was bullshit. He grabbed the fence the first round that prevented a takedown. Was warned then grab the fence the second round and was deducted a point. Both time would of been a takedown for shad. Which prolly would of won at least one of those rounds. And shad won the third round. So in my opinion tito wasnt screwed if you cheat to prevent a takedown twice u should be deducted.

Big John was refereeing that fight, so you can’t call it official incompetence. And Jacob blocked at least two slam/takedowns by grabbing the fence and continued to do it after he lost the point. He was lucky to even get out of that fight with a draw. Rashad completely owned him.

Tito is a beeacth, no interest in watching him fight at all. The days od Tito are over, he has not fought in how long?? 2/3 years. I would be shocked if we ever saw him in the cage again, he doesnt want to fight unless its a main event for a ridiculous amount of money. He is such a clown. Um…he had major back surgery. When exactly would he have fought? Before getting his back ripped open by a team of doctors, or right afterwards?
Man, I’ve seen haters before, but to say, “Trust me if wanted to fight some time between now and then he would have!!!”, when the guy most likely was downing half a bottle of Tylenol 3’s every day just to be able to breathe, is a little ridiculus. Don’t you think?

There are plenty of fight Promotions out there for a guy of Tito’s stature and all he does is talk. He wants to fight in the UFC again cause its were the money is but because he such a douche bag he burnt that bridge and now all he does is walks around fronting still thinking he is who he was. He aint shit and nobody wants him because he is the Terrell Owens of MMA, he causes shit and trouble everywhere he goes.

Tito couldn’t sign with anyone until his UFC contract expired…which was supposed to expire this summer…it may be still ongoing. UFC contracts don’t expire until months after fighter’s last fights, that way the UFC can match any offers made by other orgs in that time frame…..smart guy.
If anything, Tito is showing that he doesn’t want the UFC to match any offers from anyone else by waiting out the contract….smart guy.
And you still say “and yet we still have not seen him fight”…..he just had MAJOR BACK SURGERY!!!!! (maybe you just read my last post)?…Did you just fall upon the sport of MMA in the last two weeks, because you sure seem to think that he can get surgery and jump back into the gym in a hurry.
