Limp Bizkit concert at the Mandalay Bay Beach on UFC 100 weekend cancelled

The Limp Bizkit concert scheduled for UFC 100 weekend at the Mandalay Bay Beach in Las Vegas, Nevada, on Friday, July 10, has been cancelled, according to Ticketmaster.com.

No reason was provided for the scratch; however, the "rap-metal pioneers" have not performed a concert in North America in more than eight years and were re-uniting this year for its "Unicorns N’ Rainbows" tour.

Perhaps there was more trouble behind the scenes ... time will tell.

There is no telling if the promotion will attempt to book a new act on such short notice -- UFC 100 is just two weeks away. Furthermore, it could be difficult to market and sell tickets on such a condensed schedule.

Regardless of what the UFC plans to do in response to this latest news -- if anything at all -- fans in "Sin City" for the historic weekend will have no shortage of things to keep them busy.

The UFC 100 weekend extravaganza will feature the promotion’s first-ever grappling tournament in conjunction with the Grapplers Quest organization as part of the UFC Fan Expo — a two-day fan exposition of mixed martial arts activities that starts on Friday, July 10.

In addition to the meet and greets with legendary UFC and WEC fighters, MMA demonstrations, fan-inspired special events, training and development sessions, and other exciting opportunities and entertainment, UFC officials plan to enshrine two more of its greatest stars in the Hall of Fame, coinciding with the colossal pay-per-view (PPV) event scheduled for Saturday, July 11.

Here’s an update from Fred Durst, posted on his twitter page (@freddurst):

Facts- Limp Bizkit did NOT, in any way, cancel the UFC100 concert in Las Vegas. Truth is UFC and Interscope records could not come to an agreement on certain DVD rights. With all respect to Mandalay Bay, The UFC were also unhappy with LB’s decision of wanting to switch the performance from the Beach at Mandalay Bay with its inappropriate layout for a heavy rock concert with Limp Bizkit, basically a stage in front of a pool, to a more standard concert venue also located at the mandalay Bay which was the House Of Blues. The UFC expressed they wanted a “party vibe” for this event and would not settle for any venue besides the Beach for this and other reasons. First, LB would like to confirm we are HUGE UFC fans and will always be, but feel it is unfair for UFC to falsely confirm and advertise that Limp Bizkit will be performing to only change their minds after many people have rearranged their lives and bought tickets to be in Vegas for this special concert. On
that note we are proud to announce that we will still be performing on the same night out of respect for our fans. The details of when and where will follow shortly after this post. Again, all respect to UFC for inviting us in the first place. We will continue to support the UFC because it is our favorite MMA event. Stay tuned.

Sincerely,
Limp Bizkit

by DAVE on Jun 27, 2009 12:49 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

NBA draft hasn’t happened yet, so not much to cover there. Are you talking about the NHL draft? I never took you for much of a sports guy. Mostly just a dude who jerks off in front of his computer to MMA news, like writing on an MMA site makes you part of the MMA world and that really gets you off.

How long has it been since those asshats were relevant to anything?

by PW on Jun 27, 2009 1:20 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

So, LB will NOT be playing? Looks like I’m gonna orderthat PPV after all then.

Seriously, I’d rather see Michael Jackson play then.

by Sir Chokemout on Jun 27, 2009 1:21 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Nah, Michael Jackson would deliver a really stiff performance… Too soon?

by MongoMan on Jun 27, 2009 2:00 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

John just knows if he started his own site no one would go to it. He would have about 7 hits per day.

by JRE on Jun 27, 2009 4:34 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Is Rage back together with Zach or is still that Audioslave garbage with Chris Cornell?

by PW on Jun 27, 2009 4:52 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Zach is back for sure. He was on fire at the last couple shows

by JRE on Jun 27, 2009 4:57 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

yeah, and since when is Limp Bizkit the founders of Rap Metal? Come on, Rage started four years before them and actually produced good music.

by DB on Jun 27, 2009 5:08 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

hell’s yeah..soggy bizkit is just weak!! rage against the machine get’s the blood flowing..

by sarah on Jun 27, 2009 12:32 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

RATM is the SHIT! Seen them the last 2 summers, they would be great for the UFC to add!

by Fokman on Jun 27, 2009 3:15 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

yeah, but I doubt they’d endorse the corperate model of the UFC. Zach for some reason doesn’t strike me as a pro Dana Whit guy.

Thank God

my thoughts exactly, this card has improved even more now that lb will not be here.

by day1er on Jun 27, 2009 11:27 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

I don’t think too many ppl are going to be disappointed by this. There are plenty of events already, plus its still Vegas, theres plenty to do.

by Albow on Jun 27, 2009 10:27 AM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Limp Bizkit is about as cheesy as you can get…they have about as much cred as Chumbawumba. Its a positive they cancelled.

by General Jim on Jun 27, 2009 10:27 AM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Ya I think the UFC could have booked a way better band/artist.

by Albow on Jun 27, 2009 10:32 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Yeah, sucks because their early stuff before people knew who they were was legitimately good as far as angry music goes. They define “sellout.”

by Punch You in the Ovaries on Jun 27, 2009 11:01 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

‘angry music’? i always called it screamer music..

oh man, i hate screamer music!!

by stinky~fingers on Jun 28, 2009 2:54 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Good. Limp Bizkit is gay as hell anyways. The UFC doesn’t need to affiliate itself with that outdated crap anyways.

by Josh Hauck on Jun 27, 2009 10:46 AM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Limp Bizkit sucks anyway. I’m glad. I’d rahter have Sum 41 than shitty Limp Bizkit
