I have been asking for Wandy vs. Hendo 3 since Wandy signed with the UFC. I never liked the was Hendo ran his mouth in the post fight interview after he Ko’ed wanderlei in Vegas at Pride 33.
I cant stand all the Key’s to hte city crap….what does that actually mean?
by JOhn G on Jun 27, 2009 11:10 AM EDT up reply actions
And why Pensacola? Personally, as a long-time Parrot-Head, I would love to have the key to Pensacola, but isn’t Wandy based in Vegas when he’s in the U.S.?

what does a key to the city do? nothing right? Isnt it just symbolic?

I’d give this ape-looking dude the keys to my house

odd timing though, I mean what has he done lately?
by JRE on Jun 26, 2009 11:35 PM EDT reply actions
understand he his record in the ufc isn’t good, but he always delivers great fights and puts it all on the line…you have to respect him for that
but i (cote) am still the best p4p fighter in the world
by patrick cote on Jun 27, 2009 2:19 AM EDT up reply actions
It is not about what he has done lately, it is about what he has done and where he come from. Its about his work with at risk teens. His current mma record should really have nothing to do with his charity work.

he only goes to war every time with one style, that of a warrior, that is why he is loved by mma fans, myself included. get with it dude!
by daz on Jun 27, 2009 9:56 AM EDT up reply actions
so does chris leben but he’s not getting the key to Portland, dude
by JRE on Jun 27, 2009 4:47 PM EDT up reply actions
Oh, the city of Portland has keys for Leben, but they’re to lock him in.
by PW on Jun 27, 2009 4:56 PM EDT up reply actions
for sure one of the most respectful guys in mma along with cro crop, GSP and Couture
by DantheMan on Jun 26, 2009 11:49 PM EDT reply actions
I believe the article was about how he was making a positive influence on teens…that might be the entire point.

I was beginning to wonder if there was a Pensacola somewhere else besides FL. I may have to drop in on that.

Great to see some positive outside the ring instead of the freakin hoopla “a la I’m in a morrocan prison for robbery, or I ran in some pregnant lady’s car”.

Wow, key to the city for getting his ass kicked in his last 4 fights. What would they give him if he won?
by mikehunt on Jun 27, 2009 9:28 AM EDT reply actions
I don’t get it. I’m not much of a fan. This guy acted like such a bad-ass when he was in Pride. He was a jerk. Now that his chin is gone and he sucks he acts like this humble, “I just want to give the fans a good fight because I can’t win anymore” crap. He just needs to retire. He’s a shot fighter.
by Wes on Jun 27, 2009 10:10 AM EDT reply actions
His chin is gone? He got knocked out once since he came back to the UFC! The dude is one of the most exciting fighters in MMA history.Give credit where credit is due.
by psyʗʯʘ78 on Jun 27, 2009 10:37 AM EDT up reply actions
But he gets laid out cold. Cro cop, Henderson and Rampage all Knocked him out- not tko’d him, KO’D him! He lost his capacity to take a punch. It has been proven that once you suffer a 3rd or 4th degree concussion (where you lose conciosness) that you will be more easily concussed in the future. That’s not opinion- it’s science, do the research.
by Rich W on Jun 27, 2009 2:12 PM EDT up reply actions
At least he isn’t getting OKed every fight (as my 5 yr old would say) like our beloved Chucky. Besides the Rampage fight, Wandi has been an absolute stud, here arent many fighters that could put on a show like he does. I would still pay to see Wandi fight unlike Chucky.
by mmamac on Jun 27, 2009 10:48 AM EDT up reply actions
Take it easy on Chuck now. He is 39 yrs old and just needs to retire.
by natedog77 on Jun 27, 2009 11:49 AM EDT up reply actions
Wandi is an MMA legend, he dominated Pride and has looked good in all of his fights since returning to the UFC, other than Rampage III and there is no shame in getting KO’d by Rampage. According to your logic, unless a fighter is winning all of the time then they don’t deserve respect and should just retire, pathetic. Wandi is a warrior who always entertains the fans, if you don’t respect him then you don’t respect anyone in this sport.
by David W-S on Jun 27, 2009 2:30 PM EDT up reply actions
You haters are pathetic. Wand get’s KO’ed by Rampage who is the most devastating puncher in the 205 division and now he sucks?
He had a close fight with Chuck and it was one of the best fights of ‘07. His fight with Franklin was razor close and could have gone either way. He destroyed Sardine. Sometimes winning isn’t everything. Ask the millions of fans who dished out good money to watch Anderson Silva make a fool of himself in his last two fights! But hey, he won right!
by natedog77 on Jun 27, 2009 11:44 AM EDT reply actions
I agree with Wes. Wand used to act like such a tough guy with an attitude. Now that he loses all the time he says he just wants to give the fans a good fight. Yeah, beacuse can’t or don’t win anymore. Sorry, Wand but winning is still important.
So maybe Wes isn’t the fag- I think you are RICHIE T
by Rich W on Jun 27, 2009 2:07 PM EDT up reply actions
Wandi is a tough guy, he is a warrior and it’s ridiculous the amount of disrespect fighters receive from so called fans of the sport because they have lost. He doesn’t lose all of the time, the decisions against Chuck and Rich were close and he mauled Jardine, sure he got KO’d by Rampage but he’s already KO’d Rampage twice. His chin might not be what it once was but he is still an exciting and entertaining fighter who gives his all in every fight. When you are constantly fighting the best, you aren’t always going to win (unless you’re an elite fighter like Fedor, Machida, GSP or Anderson and even the latter two have lost before) but if you are constantly exciting and competetive then you deserve your spot at the top. Honestly I wonder whether some of the people on this site are even fans of MMA because as soon as someone loses they should retire according to them. Baffling.
