Yeah, is a bit cheeky, though I guess without him the UFC would not be where it is today – making MMA one of the fastest growing sports in the world (I realise calling MMA a sport is odd when it’s a mixture of Martial styles!).
I remember watching UFC 1 on some odd hard to get hold of unrated video tape as it was so shunned. Now it’s nearly mainstream entertainment, perhaps even more so than boxing lately, and that’s largely thanks to Dana. Rather him than Lesnar on the front anyway ;)
I think a collage of Royce Gracie, Dan Severn, Ken Shamrock, Tito Ortiz, Matt Hughes, Chuck Liddell, Randy, Anderson Silva etc. etc. starting with Gracie in black and white in the background moving all the way through to the current champions in full colour at the front would have been preferable, though putting all past champions from all weight divisions may get crowded… I’m obviously just bored at work ;)

Anyone hear about clothing sponsors getting shut out of UFC 100 if they don’t cough up 100Gs – guys like stitch can’t sponsor guys there with One More Round and others too. Kinda $hitty of the UFC trying to shoe horn themselves between fighters and sponsors. Then again they might be able to secure bigger deals than your “condom depots.” Oh yea, also why do we have to listen to dana’s thoughts about the fights on the UFC 100 site. I would rather hear from someone who can give a technical breakdown of the fights instead of the shallow and obvious kool aid they’ve been giving us since day 1.

He actually tested positive for Spironolactone in 2007. He was suspended for 8 months. But, I believe it is used to help weight cutting.

this is what closet guys do…its such a front!! lol…and Dana is the brains behind it…and he wants the ufc to be mainstream…other stars like nba and nfl dont do this cheap publicity stunt…because they dont haf to bragg. girls really go to them..why would bunch of women go for the most underpaid athletes(MMA) in the world lol..never saw a ufc fighter on espn highest paid athlete..but the dead sport of boxing’s manny pacman is at no. 6 with 40 million dollars….holy crap..thats like the pay of the whole ufc roster in a year lol

ufc doesnt have a tv company to pay for marketing and production.
that means literally every show is produced in house, and every live show is produced and paid for by the ufc itself.
do you know how expensive it is to run essentially a 24 event calander of live shows every year?
boxing promotors have it easy, they pick a fighter, make him fight loads of cans until he has an amazing record and buzz, then they put on maybe 2 fights a year, that are essentially paid for by the tv company thats promoting it (HBO etc).
ufc follows the professional wrestling model in that it pretty much pays for most of the stuff itself (hence so many ppvs).
professionaly wrestling also has national weekly tv shows – all the ufc has is one or two series a year of TUF.
they will never ever pay their fighters as much as top tier boxers unless their business model changes.
