I so want MIr to pull out another submission victory in this one!

Dream on!

by attakdog on Jun 25, 2009 8:10 AM EDT up reply actions

quotes of the day:

“Theres no way anybody can roll with me for 25 minutes and not get tapped. Its just impossible.” -Frank MIr

slow down there Frank. U might be a great grappler, but in no way shape or form are you the heavyweight version of Demien Maia. I remember Mir being petrified of going to the ground with Mir. I think Hw’s like GOnzaga, Fedor, MOnson, Nogueira, Werdum all would have something to say about, the cockiness of frank “smug Buggz Bunny” mIr, never ceases to amaze me (and not in a good way).

“Machida is VERY BEATABLE” -jon JOnes.

Slow down there young buck. Yes you are ultra exciting young buck with a ton of potential and a very unique skill set, but you are way to young to even speak Machida’s name. this reminds me of when Brandon Vera called out chuck after his 2nd win. Jones may be a new fan favorite, but he has a long way to go before he is even worth thinking about as a potential opponent for the gREAT Machida!

Slow down there young buck – you got ahead of yourself and messed up their names.

You and me both BB. WAR MIR!!!

by Dragon on Jun 25, 2009 8:22 AM EDT up reply actions

Mir is getting big. Still won’t be as big as lesnar, but the gap won’t be quite as big this time around.

by wAyNe on Jun 25, 2009 9:17 AM EDT up reply actions

It’ll still be enormous! Lesnar has to cut weight, he’ll be nearer 280lbs on fight night.

by attakdog on Jun 25, 2009 9:31 AM EDT up reply actions

If Murr is getting bigger it’s because he’s getting fatter, not stronger.

by PW on Jun 25, 2009 7:20 PM EDT up reply actions

If Mir can advoid one of Brock’s wild brick hands, he may have a chance. I think he can out skill Brock in this fight both on their feet and on the ground, but it will all come down to if he can make Brock miss him. I want Mir to win this so Brock will have to earn the belt and fight more up and comers – Kongo, Gonz, or Cain. If Mir shows the same stand up as he did in the Nog fight, he may have a chance.
If I were betting this fight, I would have to bet with Bock just because of his power. I am not betting it so I want to see Mir win.
WAR MIR!

by mmamac on Jun 25, 2009 1:08 PM EDT up reply actions

“Outskill Brock on his feet”

If it were true it doesn’t matter. Trying to strike with Lesnar’s equivalent to trying to KO an elephant with a cotton bud! Just aint happening!

by attakdog on Jun 25, 2009 2:29 PM EDT up reply actions

kick brock out of the ufc with his 285 maybe even heavier ass
he cant fight he just can tackle and do annoying hammer fists
how can anyone call him a fighter
id way rather watch kimbo stand and throw fists over lesnars so called ground and pound technique which is him outweighing everyone and laying on them

by kodywalker on Jul 23, 2009 2:16 AM EDT up reply actions

Lesnar/Georges/Bisping parlay pays out like 4 to 1 on Betus

by O damn he got caught on Jun 25, 2009 8:05 AM EDT reply actions

thanks for the heads up Odamn.

I will probably bet that Parlay…but I am also betting Alves straight and including Alves on another parlay! gOtta cover my bases because thats the only fight that Im not completely sure about. BUt I LOVE ALVES’s chances, and getting alves as over a +200 underdog against anyone, has a ton of value from a gamblers point of view.

by JOhn G on Jun 25, 2009 8:47 AM EDT up reply actions

It’s good action but I just can’t bring myself to bet against GSP; $200 on the Lesnar/Georges/Bisping parlay pays out $953.57, imo thats damn near a lock; I can’t pass it up.

by O damn he got caught on Jun 25, 2009 10:43 AM EDT up reply actions

What if you swap out Dan for Bisping?

by naturalshadow on Jun 26, 2009 2:25 AM EDT up reply actions

Then since there’s 3 fav’s in the parlay that are all better than -200; it would probably kill the pay out.

by O damn he got caught on Jun 26, 2009 8:09 AM EDT up reply actions

John, I know you are betting on Alves, but is that because you think he will win, or because you will make some good cash if he wins???

by Dave on Jun 25, 2009 10:43 AM EDT up reply actions

My guess is, it’s just the off chance that Alves wins, cause I don’t think there’s too many people out there with %100 confidence that Alves is gonna take this fight. It’s not a bad bet, I’m still beating myself up for not putting some $$ down on Mike Brown the first time he fought Faber. Brown was like +400, I was logged into my betus account, sitting there playing with the #‘s on a bet and just didn’t do it. So lame :(

by O damn he got caught on Jun 25, 2009 11:19 AM EDT up reply actions

I would be a damn liar if I thought with 100% confidence that Alves was going to beat GSP.

Forget the fact that I am Alves’s biggest fan, because GSP is also one of my favorites.

considering the great odds, I get on betting Alves (great reward, big risk…thats how it goes)…I think alves brings to the table a bunch of things that GSP hasnt had to deal with before, which makes this a HUGE obstacle for GSP to overcome…and Alves is a HUNGRY yOUNG PUPPY! Getting alves at +200 or better against any welterweight in the world RIGHT NOW is too good of odds for me to pass up on. i also dont remember the last time GSP has had to face someone that was better at him in anything..I strongly believe alves is a supperior striker. Gsp has NEVER had to deal with an opponent matching his size, strength, athleticism…which makes betting alves at +240 to much for me to pass up on!

but thats just me!

by JOhn G on Jun 25, 2009 1:17 PM EDT up reply actions

Mir has technique in leg locks and that’s it, it gives him about a 10% chance of victory. Brock completely dominates standup, grappling and ground and pound, he has more chances of winning than Murrrrrrr, simple as that!

by attakdog on Jun 25, 2009 8:14 AM EDT reply actions

I agree, I just don’t like Lesnar. I think he was giving the chance for the belt way too early. I give him props, but I don’t like him for being Dana’s boytoy.

by neeko on Jun 25, 2009 8:23 AM EDT up reply actions

Yeah but he showed what a rare talent he is by taking that chance and demolishing the reigning champion!

by attakdog on Jun 25, 2009 8:42 AM EDT up reply actions

The above 40 Couture? Cause he took his opportunity and beat a natural LHW your impressed? He couldn’t even finish Heath. Frank is a natural planner and I know he has this fight down. Brock is going to make amateurish mistakes and lose his knee.

by Cogito Ergo Sum on Jun 25, 2009 8:49 AM EDT up reply actions

At 1st, I hated the fact that Brock was getting everything handed to him to soon by the UFC…but after seeing this guy dive right into the deep end of the pool and facing top fighters like Herring and Couture, I gotta respect him.

THere isnt a fighter in the history of mma that has fought such tough competition in his 1st 5 fights:

1) Huge Japanese dude: NOthing special, but understandable since it was his 1st ever real fight. Remember Brock didnt have the luxury of a amatuer career…He went right to the pro’s and when you take that into account, there is NO SHAME in taking that fight against “Pork Fried Rice”, or whatever his name is!

2) Frank mir

3) Heath herring

4) Randy Couture

5) Frank mIr

Considering that Brock had NO AMATEUR, I would love to see ANYONE name a fighter that has faced this type of top competition in the 1st 5 reaql fights of his life!

I am positive that Brock could have chosen to face easier competition from the begining. Dana would have NO PROBLEM matching him up against CANS to build brock up and it would have been completely understandable and logical…NOt to mention that Brock vs. A CAN would have still made Dana a ton of money…..brock CHOSE to dive right into the deep end and really challenge himself to try to really make a name for himself as more then just a WWE athlete, Im sorry but I gotta get behind that! Much Respect to tHE BROCKNESS MONSTER!

by JOhn G on Jun 25, 2009 8:55 AM EDT up reply actions

Heath Herring with 30+ pro fights in full turtle shell mode for 14 minutes due to having his eye socket caved in. I’d take that result in my 4th pro fight.

KO’ing the 40+ couture who annihalated then champ Tim Sylvia and Gabriel Gonzaga. I’d take that in my 4th pro fight!

All the planning in the world will go straight out of the window when Lesnar caves his face in. This is the same Frank Murrrrr who couldn’t cope with the standup of cage rage dwarf Ian Freeman! What possible plan could he have for dealing with Lesnar’s wrecking ball fists??? Don’t say take him down and sub him either, coz that aint happening unless Murrrrrrrr comes armed with a shotgun!

by attakdog on Jun 25, 2009 8:56 AM EDT up reply actions

Dominates the stand up? He was losing to Randy before the old man got clipped by that ham hock. I hope they do stand and trade. Mir will pick him apart in the stand up.

by wAyNe on Jun 25, 2009 9:19 AM EDT up reply actions

Lol, yeah alright mate! One punch from Lesnar will be equivalent to ten of Murrrrrr’s!

It’ll only be a matter of time till that “ham hock” fist connects on Murrrrr’s not so solid chin!

by attakdog on Jun 25, 2009 9:24 AM EDT up reply actions

I really loved seeing Mir’s boxing last fight. I hope he continues to evolve on that end. Very exciting.

by neeko on Jun 25, 2009 9:41 AM EDT up reply actions

We shall see, attakdog. I agree that Lesnar can punch harder than mir. But he’s got to land that punch and finish it. He did that with Randy. I don’t think he will be able to with Mir. And once Frank is the undisputed champion, let him fight Carwin. He won’t make the same mistake as Gonzaga. Because I think Shane hits harder than Lesnar. Mir will twist that dude’s arm off. And that will be two hype machines beaten by the guy most on here seem to dismiss.

by wAyNe on Jun 25, 2009 9:41 AM EDT up reply actions

DO not be fooled!!!! He was outboxing a guy who was 10% fit and he still struggled to get the win! Mir does not have good standup!!!

by attakdog on Jun 25, 2009 9:43 AM EDT up reply actions

Good point John G.

by neeko on Jun 25, 2009 9:43 AM EDT up reply actions

There’s more chance of me getting back to back wins over GSP and Anderson Silva than Murrrrrr beating Brock and Carwin back to back! Absoloutely no chance in hell of that happening!!! That’s just ga ga land!

by attakdog on Jun 25, 2009 9:45 AM EDT up reply actions

and who are you attakdog to say that? your a nobody who’s comparring his chances of beating p4p champions against an actual fighter beating two relatively new fighters who don’t have the same ground game as himself. as for the rest of you, i’m tired of listening to this BS, you write Mir off as if he doesn’t even belong in the top 20 then you say its impressive that Lesnar is fighting him twice within his first five fights. on top of that your impressed that lesnar beat a natural lhw who beat a lazy tim sylvia (no longer a credible hw) and an over hyped gonzaga. On top of that your impressed that herring walks into the first punch of brocks and gets his face broken and brock can’t even finish the fight. Herring has never been known to beat his top competition. What is so impressive about Brock that you feel the need to write Mir off. I’m just going to be happy when Mir wins this fight because it’ll prove the nay sayers wrong. But the nay sayers will make excuses, no doubt about it.

by Cogito Ergo Sum on Jun 25, 2009 10:06 AM EDT up reply actions

It’s pointless trying to debate with you about Lesnar, your arguments are ridiculous, no matter what the guy’s accomplished in his short career you write it off like it’s nothing.!

If you’re going to be that picky about him you could apply the same logic to Anderson Silva. Who’s he fought? An over-rated, sh!t scared Rich Franklin twice, beat a washed up Dan Henderson, a one dimensional striker in Leben, a completely gassed Travis Lutter, a ridiculously over matched Leites and needed an injury to get the win over patrick cote. See how stupid that sounds???

by attakdog on Jun 25, 2009 10:13 AM EDT up reply actions

“your impressed that herring walks into the first punch of brocks and gets his face broken”

LMAO, that’s like saying Fedor doesn’t have a good ground and pound, it’s his opponents fault for having a head! Big Nogs not good at submissions, it’s his opponents fault for being stupid enough to have limbs!

Just amazing ignorance! No credit whatsoever to Lesnar for throwing the punch when he’s got no background as a standup fighter, just blind hatred.

by attakdog on Jun 25, 2009 10:28 AM EDT up reply actions

No blind hatred at all but I’m making solid points. Its like you are all saying that Brock is gods gift to earth but when you look at it, he’s really not as great as you are all saying. I’m not worried that you don’t take my points seriously. I guess Randy is ten times the man for fighting a lazy Sylvia to a decision than Mir is for submitting him in his prime. Or why isn’t anyone confused on why Brock couldn’t finish Herring off even though he had control of the whole fight and Herring was injured? Not to mention people are talking about Mir not being able to take a punch… so what does that truly say about Brocks striking power? I’m not taking anything away from Brock because I think this is his fight to lose. I just would like you all to look at your extreme disrespsect for Mir and see that you can easily take away from the credibility of Brock as well. Mir by achilles lock.

by Cogito Ergo Sum on Jun 25, 2009 10:48 AM EDT up reply actions

I’m not a huge BL fan, but what impressed me is how he handed Mir a beating before the leg lock. Why do you think Mir can handle that kind of attack again? BL is new to the sport and is still learning, I’m sure Mir is too, but it doesn’t make Mir’s chin any stronger. All things considered, I think Brock will win but I wouldn’t say it’s a cynch either.

by The Buffalo on Jun 25, 2009 11:52 AM EDT up reply actions

nO cogito! I dont think Attack is trying to say that Brock is gods gift to earth, he and I have both been trying to say that what he has accomplished in such a short career has been nothing short of astonishing! and that Mir is completely over rated and will without a doubt get KTFO!!!!

If Brock were fighting someone legit, doesnt even have to be a top 5 guy…just someone good like Carwin or Gonzaga, or even Werdum (when he is in shape, not Dos Santos shape)…NO one would be confidently saying that Brock would steamroll through his next opponent…but Mir is HOT SMELLY GARBAGE anywhere except when he is laying on his back!

All this talk about Lesnar actually having to Connect with his punches is just stupid…the guys hands are cynderblocks….he just needs to land a punch and Mir will be on queer street. Doesnt matter where it lands: eye socket, anywhere on the jaw, NOse, Temple, Ear, Behind the ear….wherever Brocks punches land on Mir’s face, is going to seriously hinder MIr’s ability in this fight if not KO his Biatch ass! This is the same Mir that couldnt take a punch from the midget Iian Freeman, or even worse, he got TKO’ed by that ju jitsu Panzy Pe de Pano Cruz…who throws punches like my littel sister! you have any idea how damn tough Herring is? 1 punch and he turtled up for the next 14 minutes. Mir doesnt have half of Herrings toughness, and he doesnt have any sort of head movement that would make me think that he can avoid getting punched in the face for 25 minutes…or are you expecting him to look like flyod Mayweather overnight? hahahah

I think Alves has a much better chance of beating GSP, and Bisping has a much better chance of Hendo, then Mir does of beating brock again..(remember Mazzagatti wont be there to help)..

aS a matter of fact..in my eyes…Mir is the biggest underdog on the card!

by JOhn G on Jun 25, 2009 1:29 PM EDT up reply actions

John you forgot to say “cage rage” midget Ian Freeman lol. Just makes him sound that little bit worse!

People are forgetting with the size of Lesnars arms and especially his fists he doesn’t have to catch you on the button to knock you bandy, as you say he just needs to land A punch, anywhere will do.

by attakdog on Jun 25, 2009 2:16 PM EDT up reply actions

murrrrr is a beat man, period. lesnar will completly overwhelm and over power him. muuurrrrs only hope is an ankle lock in the first 20 seconds, good luck with that franky boy.

by daz on Jun 25, 2009 10:44 AM EDT up reply actions

frank mir is a far better grappler

by Nash on Jul 6, 2009 9:08 PM EDT up reply actions

If Frank wins: MMA Gains more credibility and will grow in the long run. If Brock wins: The UFC gains more fans and they can showcase their “Monster” HW Champ. I’m willing to bet that Dana wants to see Lesnar winning this one. Brock is much easier to market than Frank, due to his insane build and WWE fanbase.

Good point odamn

by attakdog on Jun 25, 2009 8:35 AM EDT up reply actions

k i admit that i was not impressed at the fast track brock received..and yeah he was a gay wwf (or wwe?? who cares) which made me think he was a joke at first..then you learn more about him and he was a serious wrestler and obviously he has been a training monkey forever..anyways..you can’t deny that brock has a talent base and he has had lots of time to improve his skills that he needs to work on..which are a lot..but the fact that he did well being so green to mma..sure it’s his massive size..but he does have speed and agility that you would not expect from such a big lug..who do you root for.. mir who i find pompous and with all his experience should give ham hands trouble..but i see the vanilla gorilla putting some hurt on him..i just wanna see a war..

by sarah on Jun 25, 2009 11:04 AM EDT up reply actions

Hey to all of the brock lesnar haters lets think about a few facts, heath herring 40 plus fights and no one really has finished heath even Fedor had a touph time and won by tko cut, in Brocks 3rd fight ever he completely controlled a 6 foot 4 250 lb man heath herring who’s been in the fighting game for 12 years plus, there is no way that from UFC 81 over a year in a half ago are we not going to see a far more knowledgable and more experienced brock lesnar against mir at UFC 100. My prediction Brock lesnar is going to take mir down land some GNP stand up quickly and repeat this for decision or stoppage. remember Matt hughes got subed by Penn the first time because lack of BJJ knowledge 2 years later in the rematch hughes destroyed penn

by colli on Jun 27, 2009 1:28 AM EDT up reply actions

Yeah me too. Perfect example? BJPenn.

by neeko on Jun 25, 2009 9:42 AM EDT up reply actions

BJ has a double dose of laziness too though unfortunately.

by attakdog on Jun 25, 2009 10:32 AM EDT up reply actions

This could only happen in the HW div. No one could ever (and I mean ever) walk in off the street to 185, 170 or 155s and be as successful as Brock has been on HW. His size and strength are tuff to train for. How can you train for a ham hock coming at your face over and over again?

by mmamac on Jun 25, 2009 1:23 PM EDT up reply actions

Saying brock is just big and strong is a little short sighted, he obviously has very good technique in wrestling as well, his takedowns are a joy to behold and near flawless, the way he controls fighters on the ground and transitions without leaving any gaps is some of the best wrestling technique you will see at any weight class. Im looking forward to seeing how his sub defense shapes up on the ground, i dont think hes stupid enough to get caught in a sub from standing again.

Except GSP is taking Alves. I still don’t think GSP has hit his plateau & we will still seeo some type of evolution that will blow every fan & non-fan away. We WILL be impressed by his performance. War GSP!!!

by neeko on Jun 25, 2009 9:43 AM EDT up reply actions

I agree, Alves is a one trick pony and we’ve all seen that trick, whereas GSP has many strings to his bow!

by attakdog on Jun 25, 2009 9:47 AM EDT up reply actions

Exactly, he is a true MIXED martial artist. Not someone who avoids takedowns and tries to kickbox.

by Wes on Jun 25, 2009 12:32 PM EDT up reply actions

As Much as I hate to admit it Lesnar does actually have a lot of skill

My money is on him for this fight!

by Boxing Bags on Jun 25, 2009 10:55 AM EDT reply actions

Agree This technique vs strength is BS. Sure Mir is a better BJJ but Brock has better wrestling technique. Yes in the first fight Brock tried recklessly imposing his strength and size against Mir and learned a tough lesson. Brock has great wrestling skills and we should see him show them off this fight and I predict a TKO by GnP for Brock.

by Puck Head on Jun 25, 2009 12:24 PM EDT up reply actions

how come people think they shouldnt take brock seriously because he was in the wwe but they have no problem taking franklin seriously when he was a high school math teacher?

wtf does their past have to do with what they’re doing now?

cogito quit getting all butthurt…brock could run into a burning daycare center and save an entire classroom of preschool kids and you’ll complain that its no big deal cause the fire department just pulled in and was just about to put the fire out anyway..

Lol, quality.

by attakdog on Jun 25, 2009 1:29 PM EDT up reply actions

Mir thinks he has a plan. But like Mike Tyson said; " Everyone has a plan until they ge hit." Brock obviously hits very hard; he broke Herring’s orbital bone with one shot and KO’d Couture with a glancing blow. I don’t really think Mir has much of a chance standing with Brock.

by Rich on Jun 25, 2009 12:31 PM EDT reply actions

then he will spit a chunk of mir’s ear out…lol

by sarah on Jun 25, 2009 2:55 PM EDT up reply actions

Frank Mir could land 10 punches and they equal one of Lesnar’s huge crosses. Frank wins this fight by outpointing Lesnar for 5 rounds or submitting him with a leglock. I don’t like those odds.

Although those “rabbit punches” Lesnar throws when he is on top might not do a lot of damage, they will force a referee to stop a fight. That is how I see this fight going down.

by MMAMoneyLine on Jun 25, 2009 2:56 PM EDT reply actions

If Lesnar wins and Fedor can win over Barnett i think we can see an dreamfight at NewYearEve… I really hope so. Is not impossible becouse it is Fedor last fight in Affliction and he want to fight Lesnar.

by plotze on Jun 25, 2009 3:58 PM EDT reply actions

It could go either way, and any of you using blind dislike to ignore that is an idiot.

I’m leaning towards Mir, I picked him to beat Nog, I think he’s much better then he’s given credit for. Obviously if Brock steamrolls him I won’t be shocked.

by Jonny on Jun 25, 2009 6:15 PM EDT reply actions

I feel the man-love. His hands are SOOOOO big! He’s got size and athleticism. That’s it. Oh, he was a wrestler in college. Sounds like the guys on “4th and Long”. “Man I could have been in the NFL if only…(insert excuse here).” He’s got a 2-1 record in the UFC and you guys are talking about him like he’s the greatest. There are lots of big, athletic, inexperienced guys out there. Carwin has bigger hands than Brock, therefore he must be able to defeat lesnar simply by landing a punch. It’s only a matter of time. You guys think Lesnar will roll over legit fighters just because he has turkeys on his wrists. I bet you think the only one who can take the belt from Lesnar is Lashley.

by wAyNe on Jun 26, 2009 9:54 AM EDT reply actions

Brilliant post!

If all Lesnar has is big hands, a big punch, size and athleticism, oh and the best HW wrestler in the UFC and incredible speed, what does Mir have apart from leglocks? Please explain!

by attakdog on Jun 26, 2009 9:57 AM EDT up reply actions

Sorry for the delay. I had meetings. Anyway, I don’t want to rag on Lesnar too much. Dude would take my head off. That said, I think he is way over-hyped. And I think Mir doesn’t get the respect he deserves. Mir has a lot more than just leg locks and you know it. Mir is smarter. He has more experience. He has been in deep water. And yes he has been finished. He is mentally stronger than Lesnar. He is a BJJ black belt. His standup is improved. To what end we will see. He is also bigger and stronger and faster than he has ever been. I can make an arguement how either one could win the fight. But let’s see who comes out on top next month. If Lesnar does win, props to you. But they will still be 1 and 1.

by wAyNe on Jun 26, 2009 2:05 PM EDT up reply actions

“Mir is smarter, He is mentally stronger” – Pure speculation.

His standup has improved but lets face it, it couldn’t have gotten any worse.

“He is also bigger and stronger and faster than he has ever been” – Probably true, but no where near being on a par with Lesnar.

IMO Lesnar isn’t overhyped, what the guy has achieved in just 5 fights is unprecedented. I also believe Mir gets too much credit. A lucky win over a very green Lesnar and a win over a 10% fit Nog doesn’t make you a world beater. I cant think of any guys in the top 15 who Mir would beat other than Lesnar.

by attakdog on Jun 27, 2009 7:58 AM EDT up reply actions

This one is too hard to call. I can’t lean more then the other. To tell u the truth the bull rush from lesnar is what I fear most then gnp. Mir has to be scared of that factor. That’s how I see lesnar winning. If mir is to pull it out. It will have to be a quick sub. My only thing I’m quite certain on is that it should be a quick fight. No 3rd round I don’t think

by Daniel worby on Jun 27, 2009 4:47 PM EDT reply actions

Brock has a huge weight advantage period. When he fights someone who is his equal in size and wins, then I will respect him. Until then, I dont. Too much advantage. There needs to be a super-heavyweight class….period.

by Reap on Jun 28, 2009 11:14 AM EDT reply actions

why doesnt anybody talk about the mir vs nog fight he had amazing standup i really do think mir can win again as long as lesnar doesnt land a haymaker
