Brock Lesnar interview that angered Shane Carwin exposed as fake

One of the most talked about topics in mixed martial arts over the past 24 hours has been the interview with Brock Lesnar posted on GroundNPound.org that quoted the current UFC heavyweight champion as saying he was able to out-punch Shane Carwin in a side-by-side power test taken the day before UFC 96.
The claim had angered the up-and-coming Carwin so much that when reached for comment, he told Five Ounces of Pain that Lesnar was "A freaking liar."
It now appears the only "liar" in this story is the person who posted the interview, which has now been exposed as fake by the very Web site that first published it.
From GroundNPound.org:
First off, GNP would like to apologize to Brock Lesnar, his fans and all the site members. June 23rd an interview was posted on the front page, somehow access was gained to the main administrator account and the person responsible posted the "fake" interview. I'm not sure if the interview was real and just copy/pasted from another source or if the interview was just made up by the person who gained access to the site. Either way, GNP, myself or any of the other admins on the site had anything to do with it. Again, we are sorry that it happened and we are both looking into the actual cause and method used to gain access. rest assured we will take steps to prevent it from happening again as we find the holes in our security.
Unfortunately, in a medium where news moves as fast as your mouse can scroll, bogus stories can sometimes slip under the radar. In the end, this one ended with relatively little damage. I just hope it doesn't cause Shane Carwin to be less outspoken following UFC 100.
I was looking forward to a little heat between him and Lesnar should the champ get past Frank Mir on July 11.

Even if Lesnar doesn’t get past Mir, Carwin and Lesnar should be likely at some stage.

This story is 100% true, once I came to mania and the page had a bunch of admin tools , when I refreshed I was just on the home page. I assumed some maintenance was being conducted.
But Carwin and Lesnar are a few of the true heavy weights.
In my opinion the heavy weight division is way too large, form 205lbs-265lbs, that a huge tolerance. Once there are more true heavy weights I’m sure the UFC will seperate the weight class to;
205-235lbs and 236lbs-265lbs. (I think maybe 3 years from now)

you don’t just give that submission, mir set that up by putting his leg in position for brock to make that mistake, don’t fall into the hype brock is putting into his skill, he got caught by not sticking to a disciplined gameplan in which he knew not to do that exact thing..
i too hope mir beats brock but i see brock being the next force at heavyweight for years to come

How is it luck when you are fighting one of the best JJ heavyweights in the world, you train not to get subbed, you stand up in his guard, and try to step out leaving your leg for FRANK MIR to grab onto. Doesnt sound like luck to me, sounds like stupidity on Lesnars part

Mir’s not going to get past Lesnar. I’ve been a Mir fan for a while, and I don’t see how he gets past Lesnar this time. I suspect that Lesnar’s jits defense is far better than when they first met, and really that’s all he needs: great jits defense. Striking-wise, I don’t see Mir rocking Lesnar that badly, or even getting close enough to do damage. But we’ll see. I’d be happy to be surprised, and see Mir pull it off. I just don’t think it’ll happen.

Frank would have been knocked out cold if the ref had not step in and seperated them. I like Mir always have but my money is on Brock. The guy is hungry and puts the time in the Gym he is only going to get better.

no way brock would have ko’d mir if the ref didn’t step in. brock wasn’t throwing any power punches. nobody would get ko’d from those little shots. brock probably would have gotten a stoppage if mir couldn’t improve position, but no way he would have been “knocked out cold”

I watched the Gonzaga fight and frankly Carwin was getting the worst of it until Gonzaga made the mistake of attempting to go toe to toe with Carwin at close range after coming out of the clench. You could see that shot coming from a mile away.
No doubt Carwin has a good right, and he finally beat someone of note. But Brock’s last two fights were more impressive to me not only in the caliber of talent but in the implementation of good tactics and the obvious growth in Brock’s skill sets. Every fight Brock is getting better, smarter, and stronger. When Carwin and Brock fight, I think Brock will be more cautious and stick with what works, remembering his first fight with Mir. This will be the difference. From what I have seen, Carwin appeared a bit raw or perhaps less disciplined/intelligent in this last fight than Lesnar looked in his last couple of fights, even though Carwin has more MMA experience. In so many words every fight Lesnar has been in he was in control against a much better overall field of talent. He improved through each fight, stuck to his fight plan, and appears more disciplined/ aware than Carwin. Of course until the fight begins all is opinion.
PS If Gonzaga would have fought intelligently this one might have turned out differently or at least would have lasted longer.
