Are you serious?? I mean honestly your grammer is so bad I have no fn clue what it is you are even trying to say. Notice how all my sentences are complete, and not fragments strung 2gether. Also take time to appreciate the appropriate use of punctuation. Sorry you probably can’t read half those words.

“He waits to sieze the opportunity”….“I call it luck” What a fucking retard. I hate that I’m putting money on this guy. I would be happy to lose it if Mir can pull it off somehow. And IT WASN’T A KNEE BAR you Giant two-year-old.

Could Brock be any more masculine? I mean, he has a HUGE phallic symbol on his chest, he has a jarhead haircut, and he’s built like he’s the result of a military-commissioned human genome project.
Would a geek even stand a chance? He’d be fighting against Mother Nature. LOL
Surely there’s a heavyweight equivalent of Tamden McCrory or Kenny Florian who could represent.
Disclaimer: I’m not a geek . . . I’m just a dork (dorks don’t have to be smart.)
by Kobajack on Jun 24, 2009 11:47 AM EDT up reply actions
have you ever listened to Mir talk for any length of time? dude’s a super geek! and i think he stands a solid chance and hope he wins.

LOL. He’s not a geek! He’s a smart guy and sometimes overconfident but not a geek.
by Kobajack on Jun 24, 2009 3:41 PM EDT up reply actions
Brock should smash Mir this time! First fight we can say jitters, maybe. And now two other fights under his belt where he kept his composure. I say Brock will fight smart and beat Mir fairly easy
by JV on Jun 24, 2009 7:45 AM EDT reply actions
This fight is still really good but it shouldn’t in any way overshadow GSP/Alves. That fight is the big one of the year and should be the main event.
by Kobajack on Jun 24, 2009 9:10 AM EDT up reply actions
Yeah it really pissed me off when fn brock stole the main event. I mean seriously GSP is one the top p4p fighters in the world wtF?
by Dragon on Jun 24, 2009 10:20 AM EDT up reply actions
It doesn’t matter who’s fighting. A HW title fight trumps a WW title fight every time.
by PW on Jun 24, 2009 10:25 AM EDT up reply actions
Yeah but it doesn’t make since, the hw’s are the weakest weight class in the ufc and the ww’s are the strongest, it should be co-main event imo.
by Dragon on Jun 24, 2009 10:38 AM EDT up reply actions
PPV sales trump all and Lesnar is the PPV champ of the UFC right now.
by RealDrew on Jun 24, 2009 10:40 AM EDT up reply actions
You are right realdrew still don’t mean it isn’t really sad………..
by Dragon on Jun 24, 2009 11:25 AM EDT up reply actions
PW: Yeah but that’s bullshit. Why should the heavies always take precedence? If the argument is more PPV sales then I suppose that’s fair enough. But I still wouldn’t have thought Brock would be a better draw than GSP, only maybe to the casual fans.
It sucks.
by Kobajack on Jun 24, 2009 11:41 AM EDT up reply actions
It’s obvious that GSP is the most deserving of the main attraction, but it’s no surprise that the UFC put Lesnar as the main event. Who is more marketable and who has the potential to sell more PPVs? Lesnar is the obvious answer. The UFC knows that the hard core fans will buy regardless, so their goal is to reach those who wouldn’t normally buy a PPV. Lesnar has more name recognition then GSP, in the U.S. anyway.
Question for the Canadian maniacs. How popular is/was the WWE in Canada? GSP is probably more popular in Canada then Lesnar, but is Lesnar more widely known in Canada?
by RealDrew on Jun 24, 2009 12:18 PM EDT up reply actions
The WWE was huge in Canada when Brock was a headliner. It still may be. Regradless of who headlines this event, it’s gonna be interesting. The two “headliners” are not sure bets whatsoever. GSP/Alves is a close fight, regardless of what the internet “experts” think and choose to write. We all know GSP is in a league of his own, but Alves is a dangerous, dangerous fighter…He has the power to KO GSP, while GSP’s approach will need to be somewhat causious…he’ll have to fight a smart fight to beat Alves.
Mir’s standup and overall gameplan was excellent in his fight with Noguera. We all know what Brock will bring, but to assume Mir won’t have a solid gameplan is a mistake. Both fights will be close. I pick Alves and Brock to come out as the title holders…
by WADZ on Jun 24, 2009 12:33 PM EDT up reply actions
RealDrew: Yeah I agree with you, I just don’t like to agree with it because it’s bullshit.
by Kobajack on Jun 24, 2009 12:46 PM EDT up reply actions
PW,
Actually, 60% of the time a HW title fight trumps every time.
by Punch You in the Ovaries on Jun 24, 2009 12:47 PM EDT up reply actions
Lesnar is probably comparable in popularity to GSP in Canada, except in Quebec. CAnadians love violence, even fake violence, and we tend to be more loyal to the older wrestlers. If you remember in Toronto, Wrestlemania something, with Rock vs Hogan…..that match sucked balls, but the crowd made the fight awesome.
Up here, most people know both, or know neither for the most part.
by Big D on Jun 24, 2009 1:47 PM EDT up reply actions
It’s called Sex Panther by Odeon. They’ve done studies, you know. 60% of the time it works, every time.

by PW on Jun 24, 2009 3:24 PM EDT up reply actions
I dont know. Mir standup look solid against NOG. Clearly he is overpowered and he is going to have to work off his back. That will determine the fight outcome. You guys know better than anyone, you cant count a vet like Mir our EVER.
by Cut the Blue Wire on Jun 24, 2009 9:46 AM EDT up reply actions
“Mir standup looked solid against NOG”
LMAO Nog could barely stand, he was half dead! Michael Bizzzzbing could have KO’d him that night, that’s how bad he was!
by attakdog on Jun 24, 2009 10:01 AM EDT up reply actions
You’re clearly a Nog fan, with limited reasoning and critical thinking ability.
Nog wouldn’t have fought if he was in that bad of shape. I dont care how much heart you have; if he was “half dead,” his manager wouldn’t have let him fight.
by Jammin on Jun 24, 2009 10:17 AM EDT up reply actions
Yeah coz he always turns up looking like that doesn’t he. Let’s see Fedor, Cro Cop, Barnett in their prime couldn’t put him away, that tells you how bad of a state he was in, not how good Murrrr’s standup is!
by attakdog on Jun 24, 2009 10:35 AM EDT up reply actions
Times do change buddy, Frank Mir could be coming into his prime. Don’t be so resistant to change. Fedor, Cro Cop, and Barnett aren’t always going to be the best (clearly in Cro Cop’s case).
Fact of the matter is, Frank Mir put an old school beat down on Nog for two straight rounds and looked awesome doing it.
I don’t know if YOU know what to look for in a solid stand up game, but Mir looked to be doing everything right.
Why dont you try and use some critical thinking skills and instead of generating refutations while you read this, take a second to question your OWN logic and reasoning. I’m not saying you’ll change your mind, but at the moment, it doesn’t seem like you’re open to suggestion, like good critical thinking would have you.
by Jammin on Jun 24, 2009 11:00 AM EDT up reply actions
Jammin you got to be kidding…Nog’s got the HEART of a true warrior,of course he will go to battle if he’s hurt even if his manager or coaches tell him different!
by Alpha Male 360 on Jun 24, 2009 11:03 AM EDT up reply actions
Hurt or not. He was getting clipped with the 1-2 over and over. I dont think he can stand an Bang with Lesnar, but Lesnar chin has never been tested. He could fold like a sack of potatoes if he gets caught. We dont know.
by Cut the Blue Wire on Jun 24, 2009 11:14 AM EDT up reply actions
Have you seen the size of his neck???? It’s unlikely he’ll “fold like a sack of potatoes”
by attakdog on Jun 24, 2009 11:26 AM EDT up reply actions
I second that, punching Lesnars head would be like trying to drown a shark; it would just piss him off.
Plus, The Natural landed a couple of solid blows to that overwhelming mass that Lesnar calls his head. He took ’em in stride.
by Jammin on Jun 24, 2009 12:08 PM EDT up reply actions
Yeah, I mean look at the guys Neck and head. He is built for IMPACT. I have a feeling that its going to take a SERIOUS HEAVYHITTER to even Rock him….something that Mir is clearly not (unless the Nog fight has fooled you).
when you guys get a chance, head over to the mma in New York thread. I posted some interesting news (some of which is Vitor related)…Its pretty long, so I didnt want to jack this thread because there is some good debating going on in here.
by JOhn G on Jun 24, 2009 12:16 PM EDT up reply actions
If anything, I felt Mirs standup sucked. The way he threw the punches and walked forward with the combos…looked very “wooden” to me. I dont know how to explain it, but against a good technical striker, im sure Frank would have been countered heavily.
If anything, it may have displayed that Mir does have some power in those seldom used hands. While Nog wasnt near half dead, he was in no condition to fight. 2 weeks before a fight and getting staph is not good. Thats 2 weeks of no training, and most of it lying in bed. Ive had it in my legs before, and while i wasnt feeling that horrible overall, the pills i had to take really made me tired and weak.
Mir’s standup wont be a factor. His ground game is still dangerous, so i expect Brock will stand. Reach, power and speed favors Brock, even without any real technique. And Mirs chin isnt the most reliable. Better then Arlovski, but not by a whole lot.
by Big D on Jun 24, 2009 1:53 PM EDT up reply actions
Mir’s standup may not have been earth-shattering, but it was the best we’ve seen from him, and far better than anything we’ve seen from Brock. Plus, he just had a perfect gameplan for that fight. I think either man can win this fight. Brock has the clear advantage, but a fighter who sticks to a smart gameplan can surprise anyone and come out on top.
by just some dong on Jun 24, 2009 3:54 PM EDT up reply actions
Give me a break! Murr’s stand up looked as crappy as it usually did against NOg….Nog was a former shell of himself and was in such bad shape that it made Mir striking look good. in reality, all Mir did was throw that same basic 1, 2 combo, and everyonce in a while he would trow in an uppercut….JUST AS CRAPPY AS IT EVER WAS!
I think Brock is going to beat him easily this time around. Brock will probably force Mir to stand with him and use his monkey Reach to beat Mir up…eventually Brock will clinch, and thats when the abuse will really begin. this fight is going to be a lot different then the 1st one…not only will the outcome be different, but this fight isnt going to the floor until Mir gets KTFO!
“The mma Gospel of John”!
by JOhn G on Jun 24, 2009 10:02 AM EDT up reply actions
The longer this fight goes, the more it will favor Lesnar. Fighters with a history of conditioning issues like Mir seem to never fully get past them even if they improve. Lesnar will have the better gas tank, and if he can avoid an early fight-ending submission, he will wear down Mir. Lesnar still has plenty to prove, but his striking so far has been a surprising asset, and is good enough to count as being superior to Mir’s as a weapon. I still question Lesnar’s mental game, and Mir’s shot will be if he can get Lesnar in trouble early. We’ll know mid way through the 1st round who will win this fight.
by CL on Jun 24, 2009 12:38 PM EDT up reply actions
We’ll know during the fighter introductions when Mir tries to stifle a nervous fart but ends with crap running down the back of both legs.
by PW on Jun 24, 2009 3:27 PM EDT up reply actions
Yeah he is not gonna waste time this time. he will charge him & go for the GnP. I want Mir to win but I think it will be Lesnar by referee stoppage.
by neeko on Jun 25, 2009 9:19 AM EDT up reply actions
Mir was getting a serious beatdown from Lesner when he was green and inexperienced, he made a stupid mistake and lost.It will not be the case this time. Mirs losing streak starts here.
by Ade on Jun 24, 2009 7:45 AM EDT reply actions
Frank’s experience carried him through the first fight. Lesnar was schooled in ground-game 100. I expect Lesnar/Mir II to be more exciting with each having an idea of what the other is capable of.
And I take Mir with a submission victory. I still think his game has a couple of steps on Lesnar’s.
by DJ on Jun 24, 2009 7:45 AM EDT reply actions
I agree. Frank is def still ahead of Brock…. although Brock has stepped his game up a little he is still no match for Frank.
Mir by Submission
by Arrrrgggggg on Jun 24, 2009 8:01 AM EDT up reply actions
Why is everyone talking about Mir like he’s the second coming??? This guy’s sh!t and not even top 15. I remember watching this guy get knocked bandy by cage rage midgit Ian Freeman! Lesnar is the only top HW he has a chance against and that’s coz he’s still so green!
Mir is so lucky to be where he is! A win onver Brock and a half dead Big Nog and he’s got so many of you fooled! Mir would get totally wiped out by Carwin, Velazquez, Congo, Dos Santos, Gonzaga, Randy, Big Nog (even half fit).
Ride this wave while it lasts Frank coz come July 11th your luck’s gonna run out!

You are right Murrrr is irrelevant after 7/11.
by attakdog on Jun 24, 2009 9:49 AM EDT up reply actions
yeah, I cant stand when people bring up the Nog fight to justify Mir. Get a clue…I like my chances against NOg if he comes into a fight looking like a Zombie, with a terrible staph infection and knees injuries that caused his knee to buckle every time he took a step.
Brock is right though, he basically handed Mir that knee bar on a silver platter.
HOpefully Brock doesnt just steamroll Mir, which he is fully capable of doing. I want Mir to get punished. Brock needs to drag this fight out, and just ABUSE Mir in the clinch. Lots of dirty boxing and knees to the body…By the time the 3rd round comes, Mir’s fat ass will be so gassed, Brock can spit on him, and he will just fall! lol
IMO, Mir isnt even top 15…He will be forgotten by the time 2010 rolls around…
Every see the movie: “The great white Hype”? Thats Frank Mir! hahaha, what a joke!
Seriously though, Mir is just a fat, Heavyweight version of Serra…but Serra has better striking.
Mir is Trash! Believe me when I tell you he is one of the top 5 most over rated fighters in UFC history.. This fight is going to start a big losing streak for Mir, until he will no longer fight and just be a full time douche bag commentator!
I feel bad for all of you that have been fooled by the UFC’s marketing team into thinking that Mir is worth a damn!
Mir would get DEMOLISHED by Gatekeeper, Heath Herring!
by JOhn G on Jun 24, 2009 10:10 AM EDT up reply actions
Didn’t Brock broke a cheek bone of Herring when they fought?

by attakdog on Jun 24, 2009 10:38 AM EDT up reply actions
You love comparring him to Serra. Dude give it a rest Mir is not a HW version of Serra, they fight nothing alike. Maybe in past when Serra was pulling off armbars but his ground game was never as impressive as Mirs. Sorry man I’m really looking forward to Mir beating Brock again and proving all the nay sayers wrong.

Not going to the ground so I doubt there will be any subs. Lesnar is going to smash his face in standing. If it goes to the ground at all it will be because Frank is stunned and Lesnar is going in for the finish. Clinch and smash.
by jay on Jun 24, 2009 9:21 AM EDT up reply actions
EXACTLY!!!! Someone with some sense around here. There is no shot in hell that this fight ends in a submission. Why? Because Brock is going to keep it standing. Mir cant get him down. brock is so strong that I dont even think Mir could drag him down to the ground if he pulled guard!
This fight will take place in the clinch..Mir’s back pressed against the wall…eating Brutal Knees by Brock right in Murr’s fat gut!
by JOhn G on Jun 24, 2009 10:12 AM EDT up reply actions
Even if it goes to the ground Brock will annihilated him…look the 1st fight Brock was posturing real good in Murr’s gard.Murr did try to catch him a few times with an arm bar…with no succes!

John that rant that you went on early was the most over the top thing i have ever heard. Dude there is a difference between having an opinion and going on some crazy pyscho rant. You cant believe as a knowledgable mma fan that Mir will be irrelavent by 2010. Win or lose on the 11th, Mir will be a top guy for a while. He is young, charasmatic, and talented which is exactly what the UFC is looking for. Oh and by the way, Mir is not fat, I guarantee he will be more toned than lesnar at fight time. You just need to offer more opinion and less personnel hate. It really does surprise me that you dont hate Lesnar either John, the guy is a dick.

I know that Brock has all the tools and maybe one day he will be a mma fighter but not on july 11. And he is 10 times the fighter Kimbo is I just think is way over hyped like Kimbo was and after Mir smashes brock then we can all forget about how “great” he was.

I think Brock wins this fight but i don’t understand the hate that Mir gets. Up until recently it was only him and Fedor who had 3+ wins over top ten heavyweights (at the time).
He had a nasty motorbike accident, came back early and looked like sh*t. Thats understandable. Mir is not irrelevant or outside the top 20 like what others are saying.
All that being said i am taking Brock with this one. Dominates the standup for 1st round then takes him down and pounds him out against the cage. Too big and strong.

AttakDog: THank you for trying to talk some sense in people who have fallen victim to another illusion of the UFC Marketing team. the UFC has created this illusion that MIR IS ACTUALLY worth a damn as a fighter. I feel bad for those that actually think he is any good.
Mir cant do anything to Brock. Only hope for Brock is to capitalize on Mir’s mistakes. which wont happen. All brock has to do to win this fight is play it safe the way he did against Herring. Just beat him up, and dont rush into anything…Only reason he lost that last fight was because he was in a rush…when you dont take your time, you make mistakes and that is the only thing Mir is good at…Capitalizing on his opponents mistakes on the ground.
Brock will dictate this entire fight. Its gotta be weird game planning to fight an opponent, when you know there is no way that you will be able to control the fight. Mir has absolutely no say in what happens this fight. He doesnt decide if the fight stays standing, and there is no shot in hell that he can get Brock on the ground…Mir’s only gameplanning is hoping to survive long enough for Brock to make a whitebelt mistake that Mir can capitalize on…Of course they have to be on the ground for Mir to have any shot in hell at getting lucky again, and I honestly dont think this fight will go to the ground until Mir falls unconscious!

Cogito Ergo sum,
What a condescending post. Where did you get your end-all be-all insight from?
It’s totally out of the question that Mir sees a more efficient avenue to beat Brock (an enormous(ly) decorated wrestler) in the striking department?
The wording of a post can go along way in how it is interpreted; i interpret you as a sheltered 15 year old who swings from Brock’s nuts joyously.
by Jammin on Jun 24, 2009 10:29 AM EDT up reply actions
Of all people for you to be talking down to, you chose me? Are you sure you didn’t mean to speak to John there?(no offense John). I personally don’t understand how anyone could think Mir would stand with Brock. Mir only stood with Nog because Nog is a phenom on the ground. Seriously use your brains. Also “Jammin” I really don’t care what you think because you attack me personally due to your inability to argue with me logically. Please look on this page for more of my posts and you will see that I think Mir is going to win the fight. But not by trying to trade with Brock. I also agree with everyone that this is Brocks fight to lose, if he plays it smart he shouldn’t lose to Mir. But my idea is that he doesn’t play it smart and he goes to the ground with Mir.

so you think that Mir’s Fat ass, who has never shown the ability to NOT gass before the 3rd round of a fight…to be able to deal with all the punishment that Brock will inflict, and survive for 25 minutes till it goes to a decision?
R u out of your FOCKING MInd?
THere isnt any chance in hell that this fight last 5 rounds! NO SHOT!!!! in a normal fight, Mir is gassed and just waiting to be finished by the 3rd round….add all the pounishment Brock will inflict, and if Mir is lucky enough to be conscious by the 3rd round, he will be a gassed Zombie, hands dropped at his waist, just waiting for Brock to put the nail in the coffin.
If this fight goes to the decision, I will quit watching mma!

I will attack an opinion when its riDONKulous!!!!!! Get a pay pal account, and I will bet anyone on this site, WHATEVER amount of money that they want that Brock vs. Mir wont make it to a decision. THey couldnt fight to a 3 round decision, let alone a 25 minute one…. I am DEAD Serious. Even money, straight up, not picking a winner…I will bet ANYONE ON THIS SITE, up to $1000 that this fight wont last to a decision. Put up or shut up DAVE, I know that I am willing to! Im really serious about this…and it doesnt just go for you DAVE, this is an open invitation to anyone on this site willing to take that bet!
by the way, anyone who feels that they are being cyber-bullied is just a week minded person. I have been PERSONALLY attacked by half of this site in the same thread in the past and I never wined and cried about peoples opinions relating to mma topics. All I want to do is to talk mma….when people start getting into pissing contests about Family, or personal stuff, thats when I back away because that is teenage Chatroom material…as long as I am talking mma, I will say whatever the FOCK I want…I often apologize later on, when I go overboard…but Dont count on your sensitive ass getting an apology out of me for speaking my mind about the way I feel about a fight!

John: I appreciate your opinion, but I am not whining. All im saying is if your opinion differs from someone else, just pump the breaks a little bit on the attitude. As you know, me and you have differed alot in the past in our opinions, but I for one have never personally attacked you, just challenged your opinion in a friendly way. If you wanna call me a whiny dousche bag thats fine, but you wont get anything more than a spirited opinion back, because as much as I love mma, I clearly dont take it as seriously as you do, and thats not a dig on you its an observation. Finally, I will not be making any bets with you, because as much as I am a huge Frank Mir fan, there is a chance he will lose this fight, nothing is a guarantee in life, and Brock is talented enough to win this fight. My point ive always made, is that you get away from mma sometimes and you do make it personal (Ex: Frank Mir is a FAT ASS, who I hope Brock beats to the point he spits on him.) If Brock hits you, he hurts you. Frank dosen/t take that great of a punch- Brandon Vera knocked him out in the first minute of the first round in their fight. Brandon Vera hasn’t knocked out anybody since thaen either.
Brock will not get caught in a submission this time. He’s been training BJJ with a former 4 time world BJJ champ. His wrestling is better, his striking is better (don’t let Mir’s fight with a 50% Nog fool ya) and he has strength and speed on his side.

I love how people say that frank got lucky. first of all while brock made mistakes, so did frank. mir threw a lazy kick and lesnar got the takedown rite away, he wont do that again. before he got him with the knee bar, mir was going for armbars like crazy. anyone who is routing for brock is a fool imo. this guy is stupid meathead who honestly doesnt care about the sport. If mir gets him again brock will tap…again! brock talks about he’s not the same fighter as last time, neither is mir. anyone who saw mir’s recent q&a at the ufc ppv a few months ago saw that he was ripped. mir is coming to this thing in shape. simple question is are you routing for a real martial artist and guy who’s practiced it his whole life or some tool with a penis tattood on his chest who is just a meathead and has only the physical tools. Ill go with mir. I’d like for brock to take him down and mir to get a sweep and lets see how brock is on his back, now that would be interesting to see.

ALL fighters can be assholes, what I can guarantee is that if Brock and Mir were walking down opposite sides of the street and you went and asked both for an autograph, Mir would be much more cordial and down to earth. Being a confident person doesnt change the way you treat others, and Ive always heard Frank Mir was nothing but a classy outgoing guy who always looks out for his fans. I know you post on here alot attackdog, and you know what you are talking about, but I promise you, whether you hate him or not, that Frank Mir is NOT an asshole.

who the fock cares? Do you oprder ppv’s because a fighter is FRIENDLY? I want to see world class athletes with world class skills going to FOCKING WAR against each other.
Fighters just rub different people different ways so who cares…For example, I can root for a total Lunatioc like NIck Diaz, who talks trash from the time he wakes up in the morning til the time he goes to bed, but then I can hate another fighter for doing the same thing…In the end of the day, we spend time and money on this mma thing that we are all addicted to….The only thing that matters is OUR ENTERTAINMENT….If you are looking for Brock to be your role MOdel or NICE to you, then you will probably be disapointed…but if you want to see a dude BRING IT, in the octagon with some serious Size, Power and athleticism…a once in a lifetime athlete that doesnt know how to NOT INFLICT DAMAGE, then he is your guy!
If you want to watch a fighter THAT WILL NEVER be able to impose his will against Anyone, who’s ONLY HOPE in fights is to survive long enough to catch a submission off of an opponents mistake, off his back the entire time…then MIr’s your guy!
Personally, I always been a fan of fighters that DICTATE FIGHTS…THere is ONLY 1 NOgueira, and Mir isnt him!
by JOhn G on Jun 24, 2009 12:04 PM EDT up reply actions
I definitely care and I’m not ashamed to say it. It’s got nothing to do with role models or nonsense like that. I think we’re thinking on a totally different level here.
For me, whether a fighter is a champ or an inconsistent burnout, it’s about interesting matchups and interesting fights. Interesting fighters add to this element. There are a thousand different facets which interest me which all add to the entertainment.
A neutral question on the character of a fighter isn’t an indirect way of saying, “Who’s friendly? I only like friendly fighters so I’ll pick HIM,” after I stop playing with my choo-choo train. There could be multiple reasons for liking a fighter or there could be only one, it just depends.

Lucky is getting a title shot after when not even on a winning streak (one win isn’t a streak), and then winning the title, by luckily clipping the back of the head of the champ to knock him out.
There is a lot of love for Lesnar on here. Fortunately I don’t have a short memory, and I can also remember when Gabriel Gonzaga was unstoppable according to comments on these very same blogsites. People love to get on trains. Machida and Lesnar’s trains are in full effect.

Wow everyone has a crystal ball. Anyone that tells you who will win this fight it lying, this is one of the biggest wildcard fights of the year.
Yes Brock is big & stong and can overwhelm you but on his feet if he’s not lunging towards you then he’s a bit slow and awkward. The punch that KOed Couture was a weird graze on the back of the head.
Anyone who strength train knows that the stronger you get, the less flexible you get and the more time you have to spend stretches etc just to maintain any level of flexibility.
Because of Brock’s dense muscle fiber and the thickness of his muscles, there are several submissions that can be hard, if not impossible for him to defend.
I pick Mir via Rear Naked Choke.

Brock’s wrestling ability combined with his size & speed can beat any HW in the world but with his experience he can also lose to any experienced HW in the world. The only way I can see Brock lose is he makes a big mistake that a experienced fighter like Mir will make him pay. Just remember though this is only his fourth fight and for what he has done this early is amazing for any weight class. I can’t wait to see if and how much Brock improves.

by Mrs.Featherbottom on Jun 24, 2009 3:57 PM EDT reply actions
Something that has always bugged me is the Brock claims to be the “real” champ.
In my opinion Brock ain’t.
Couture vacated the title and the UFC had Sylvia and Nog fight for the vacated title. When Nog won, they scheduled the Nog vs. Mir fight for the title (not the interim title just The Title).
When Randy decided to come back, he should have had to fight the current champ on thier next available fight. So even if Mor vs. nog was for the interim title Randy should have fought that winner.
But the UFC decided to get greedy and tagged the Mir vs. Nog fight as interim and call the Randy vs. Brock tilt a title fight.
1) Brock fought the man who vacated the title…not the current champ (Nog at the time). Does this mean that if the UFC should be changing the champions just because they have a bigger money maker matchup?
2) Randy is ancient in MMA terms so Brock can cool it with the branging.
3) Randy had over a year of “ring rust”. Again, stop bragging until you beat someone….anyone in their prime.
4) Speaking of wins. Does beating Heath Herring on your third pro fight warrent a title shot? So really Brock shouldnt have been given the “puncher’s chance” against a past his prime, out of shape former (not current) champ for “The Title”. Nog beat Herring and got the title shot but he had been the champ of another MMA org and is an MMA legend. Not a sideshow like Brock
It all stinks. Brock would be more of a man if he would cut the “I am the REAL champ” crap until really beats a legit champ. Not taking anything away from his ability, he might walk through Mir. I’M JUST SAYING HE SHOULD WAIT UNTIL HE IS THE CHAMP BEFORE HE STARTS BRAGGING.
by Striker Dave on Jun 24, 2009 4:14 PM EDT reply actions
Fact is Striker both are great fighters clearly Brock has proven in very short time he can fight with the best there’s no doubt about it. And Mir who has his up’s and downs looks better than ever and on top of his game wich should = a great fight and a clear champion will come out. Who cares who really has the belt because only one will have it after 100.
by Beaver on Jun 24, 2009 9:56 PM EDT up reply actions
Not sure about that, the word interim means temporary, a stop gap measure until a more suitable solution is available. The stance that the UFC took on couture was that he was still under contract with them and they disputed the legality of him attempting to vacate the title and fight elsewhere.
Looks like they won that fight, therefore couture never vacated the title and was in fact HW Champ when Brock beat him. There is no doubt that Brock is the real HW champ at the moment.
Nog never complained about the interim situation and knew what he was getting involved in, he took the opportunity for what it was then threw away his chance of getting hold of the real title by turning up for a fight unprepared, he really let himself and his fans down that night against Mir and that could have been his last hope at the UFC HW belt, what a shame.
by paniczoo on Jun 24, 2009 6:50 PM EDT reply actions
But paniczoo, by that logic, Randy should have needed to fight the interim champ on his first fight back. That’s the purpose of the interim champ. He holds the title until the champ in limbo returns and then they fight. Lesner was pushed in because of the ppv buys he can generate because of his fake fighting fame….the antithesis of martial arts.
And Beaver, how has Lesner proven in a short time that he can fight with the best? How?
Fight 1; against a guy with a losing record. Fight 2; Embarassed by Mir in the first round by showing no MMA ability just brute strength. Fight 3; Heath Herring, that guy was born to lose in the UFC, he lost to Jake Obrien (in fact Herrings only win was against a Kongo with NO ground game). Herring isnt a legit fighter. Fight 4; against an ancient Randy with a year plus layoff (which he also won with a back of the head glancing blow). So how is that a show of ability?
Furthermore; Mir is the one who won the title and never lost it in the octagon. He vacated the title with a long layoff from a non MMA related injury. In fact, has Mir ever lost a title fight? I dont think so.
Again though, if Brock beats…or even just gets by Mir, he can pound his chest like Donkey Kong as the champ. But until then, he should give it a break.
