Just watched the Sanchez/Guida fight again at a mates place, they hadn’t seen it yet and strangely all 4 of them thought Guida probably won it until the judges scores came out. Funny considering all the “Huggy Bear” hate on these boards, watching the fight again he did have a few decent stand-up shots and certainly doesn’t deserve the amount on criticism he’s received recently.

He gotten beaten to a bloody pulp in the first round, and spent the second getting elbowed in the head while giving a hug. Third round was sort of even.

The first round was a 10-8 for Sanchez and even if the judges were to give the last 2 rounds to Guida, then it would be a draw.

I gave only round 2 to Guida, and the 1st and 3rd to Sanchez with a 10-8 for the first round. My final score was 29-27 Sanchez. (Even though I am a Guida fan.)

Aye, and the first round was a 10-8 really, my mates saw the 2nd and 3rd going to Guida though, is interesting to see in hindsight after watching it myself and thinking Sanchez was dominant. No-one complained about the result though.

I do think some of the criticism of Guida is harsh after this and the fight with Huerta though. Two of the best in recent years, everyone can say the other fighters made it but it takes two to tango.

your friends needs to realize that the guy on top doesn’t have to be winning…
when watching the fight again, i get more and more convinced that Sanchez won all three rounds and the 1st 10-8… He messed Guida up from the bottom in the 2nd and was clearly winning the “fight” in that round, he hurt him, had him covering up and cut him badly with those elbows..
