Mirko Cro Cop's first fight outside of the UFC may be against Salmonella

When Mirko Filipovic bolted from a potential UFC contract to fight more often overseas, I don't think even he expected it to be this soon.
The famed Croatian striker has been hospitalized after reportedly suffering from high temperature, diarrhea and stomach pain, the textbook symptoms of Salmonella according to Index.hr.
The illness could potentially jeopardize his July 20 bout against "Mighty Mo" Siligia at DREAM 10 on July 20.
"Cro Cop" most recently competed at UFC 99: "The Comeback," making a brief return to the Octagon with a controversial win due to an inadvertent eye poke that was missed by the referee that led to a victory over British heavyweight Mostapha Al-turk.
At the UFC 99 post-fight press conference, UFC president Dana White gave "Cro Cop" a verbal lashing for welching on a supposed verbal deal for more fights within the UFC.
Filipovic refutes the claim, saying the deal was for only one fight and that he would renegotiate after the event. Cro Cop wanted to fight multiple times this year and claims the UFC expected him to wait six months for another fight.
Now he’s returning to the Land of the Rising Sun -- the country that made him a star -- but whether or not he'll be in any condition to compete in less than a month after this recent illness remains to be seen.
Unless UFC officials had access to the Croat's in-flight meal out of Germany, this is likely just a case of unfortunate timing.

I wonder if dana is ever gonna let Huerta fight I know he didt want to sign a new contract so he could persue acting and he just wanted his last fight but havent heard of him fighting anyone I wonder if dana is just gonna let his contract ride out?

My guess is probably gonna let the contract run out and never let him fight. I’d even be shocked if he let him come back to the UFC at all. Between complaining about money, having a very long negotiation process and then after all that say never mind- it’s not gonna happen. I doubt he wants to give Huerta a chance to leave on high note.

yeah i been wondering about huerta for a while, i thought he was deffo one of best lw’s even tho he lost a decision to kenflo last summer, i heard he took a yr out to finish college or something. so i always hoped he would be back for end of the yr,
plus huerta is deffo one of best lws in undisputed, i’ve gnp out so many people with him :D
on a side note, think kevin mentioned something about kimbo being knocked out on first fight of TUF 10… anyword on this being true?

Cro cop himself said it was a 1 fight deal and nothing else has been signed, and he’s willing to negotiate with the UFC. his only stipulation is he wants to fight 3 more times this year (which I 100% respect and think is great)! For some odd reason, you guys either don’t have any comprehension skills or are just plain ignorant to the fact that the story has changed since late sat night!

You didn’t like any of his fights kev? I agree about the over hyped, but I don’t think he was over rated. I mean you’d have to be rated somewhere to be over rated. I don’t think he has ever been on anyone’s top 20 never mind top 10.

LOL…Dana White got peoples everywhere!!!! He had someone that no good Mirko’s food. I mean, all the guy did was wish to fight 3 times before the end of the year and the UFC would only give him 1 in 6 months???? And Japan is where he started and spent MOST of his career, AND will MOST likely make a load of money….
SO, YEAH , shame on Mirko. He should of stayed here to make OTHERS happy. And ONLY fight once more, 6 months from now.

The whole Mirko / Dana thing strikes me as a little bit of he said / she said. The truth probably lies somewhere in the middle. If Mirko wants to fight, that’s great, but if he lied point blank to Dana about his real intentions(and nobody really knows what happened) just to get a warm – up fight or whatever, then I can’t respect that. There is a difference between negotiating and flat – out lying. I’m not sure what happened b/c everything is 2nd or 3nd hand.
That all being said, if Crocop wanted to fight and he brings in viewers (and I think he does) then I have a hard – time believing Dana would not trot him out there a couple of times in 2009 / 2010. Makes no sense. Dana is trying to maximize his return. How many times have the Miller brothers, Koscheck fought in the past year ? Seems like all the time.

High temperature, diarrhea, and stomach pain are hardly reasons to say someone has a life-threatening illness. Fuck, I get all of those symptoms when I eat mexican food.
