Stinker… I cannot believe you are picking Guida here. Diego is way tougher than anyone Clay has tried to hump to victory. He will not be able to hold Diego down for 3 rounds. DIEGO… UD.

Word stinky! Drive the Guida war wagon…I’ve got shotgun though…lol.

Clays strengths are shadowed by Diegos all around skill set. Diego looks GOOD. last fight he look sickly, you know just a skinny version of himself but now he is ripped and cut. I expect to see him dominate Guida and pull a submission late in the second.

Stinky if you so sure then take that money to vegas.

SORRY TO GET OFF TOPIC HERE BUT… I just noticed something on BetUs that helps prove a point I was making a couple weeks back when a fight was announced – Machida vs Shogun. I was laughing at the matchup and saying how it was a TOTAL mismatch. Just about everyone wanted to “battle” me and defend Shogun to the very end. I said that I would easily lay money on Machida as a -500 favorite in that fight. WELL, GUESS WHAT, Machida opened at -600 on BetUs. That’s right. -600, a 6 to 1 favorite. Even the oddsmakers give Shogun next to ZERO chances at winning. For those that want to throw thier money away, Shogun is +400, but I recommend you waste your money on a scratch off ticket cuz you got a better chance at winning money.

Huggy Guida has to lose just to even out those last 2 awful piggy back races Guida calls fights.

Sanchez FTW!!

by Ca$z on Jun 19, 2009 10:57 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

The logical breakdown of Guida vs Sanchez IMO:
Guida has little chance of hurting Diego in the standup.
Guida has little chance of sub’ing Diego.
Guida has no chance of GnP Diego.
So that means Guida has to win a decision. He does that primarially via wet blanket attack.
Diego stands up very well.
Diego breaks away very well.
Diego can drop Guida from the standup.
Diego can GnP Guida.
Diego can sub Guida.
Since there’s 15 minutes where Guida won’t end the fight, there’s a lot of time for Diego to accomplish one of those things.
If your counting on Diego tiring out. I wouldn’t. If it was his first weight cut to LW, maybe, but it’s not.

And that’s pure robotic analysis. Diego is a Lock!

who cares what betus has.. they never get their odds right!!

no doubt machida should be the fav, but -600??

cmon mike, even u know thats retarded!!

if betus had a high gamblers action?? i would robb them blind..

~
im not saying its gauranteed but laying down 20 bucks on shogun sounds pretty good to the average gambler..

like peeps were saying ‘weeks ago’, shogun is machidas biggest threat, next to rampage..

who else can u think?? ~jardine, ha’

by stinky~fingers on Jun 19, 2009 11:29 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

VioentMike,

I completely agree with you, but the argument you’ll get by the Shogunites is that the odds are determined by betters. Although, the initial lines are based on legit analysis I would think. Then the incoming bets push the line in one direction or the other. (That’s a good thing i suppose b/c that’s what makes guys like us able to make money) I hope the Shogun nut lovers push that -600 down a lot between now and the fight.

Anyone who knows for sure how the inital line is set, I’d be interested in being educated.

by Punch You in the Ovaries on Jun 19, 2009 11:36 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

are u italian stinky? that must be the reason you’re pulling for guida..
I’d bet 50 bucks on Shogun right away! anything can happen and Shogun is more dangerous than Rashad fo sho!

by RoB on Jun 19, 2009 11:48 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

so this is the man u guys all think just holds and hug fighters??

this guy has no skill and does nothing??

i can pick out 20 things in this video that require skill~

if u watch this link~ and can tell me that all guida does is hold peeps? then u are not the smartest peanut in the turd!!

I knew he’d be a considerable favorite. I was expecting -400 to -450 range. That -600 caught me by surprise.

Punch, I definitely gotta sit back and wait to bet on this fight. At -600, not much money will get put on Machida. But at +400, the loyal Shogun believers will bet their money, and Machida will be in the -400 range come fight night.

Very similar to Hendo vs Bis. That started out -500 and +300. Its now like -250 and +190.

by ViolentMike on Jun 19, 2009 11:53 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

THaks for the heads up VM. At the very least I will throw $50 on Shogun TODAY, if not more! I play the odds, and those are 2 great to pass up, considering that Shogun will have an advantage in at least one phaze of the fight…THe ground. shogun is easily the best grappler in the LHW division, and he wont be out-clinched by too many people..I see the clinch as pretty even between Machida and Shogun, although if we were talking about the 2005 Shogun, he would MURDER anyone in the clinch. striking edge clealy goes to Machida, and by a pretty far margin. When in shape, shogun is a very dangerous, terminator style striker…but even on his BEST striking day, Machida still has the clear edge.

I love the odds on Tibau. Definitely betting money on him and also include him on a parlay.

Following my theme of playing the odds, I will probably bet a measly $25 on Ross and Demarques straight. Neither Andre or Demarques are good enough to the point that they are locks, especially after their opponents being familiar with each other and having months to prepare for this fight instead of 2 days to prepare for a fight like on the show. Ross and Wilks are fully capable of winning the contracts.

Since we are going off topic:

i want to talk..who Cain Vallesquez should fight next!

Cain should face Herring. I still think that heath would be a great test for Cain. If not, he could face Dos Santos, but I think it would suit him better to test himself against a hard nosed veteran like Heath, instead of facing a young gun like Dos Santos who is still fighting on undercards. throwing him in there with Carwin, Couture, Nog…would be a HUGE mistake right now.

An even better option for Cain would be to beat the snot out of Frank mir, after brock gets done with him. Problem with a match up against Mir is that Mir is not only going to lose to brock, but he will be injured in the process. Something is going to get broken…eye socket? Jaw? NOt really sure which, but Mir wont be ready to fight again for at least 6 months so I dont know if Cain can wait that long. fighting Mir would be his smartest career move. Its a fight over a recent heavyweight champion, that he can use to show case his skills and DOMINATE! He would uttrerly beat the crap out of Mir.! Its an easy win over a bIG NAME opponent that the UFC marketing machine created. Fighting mir is still basically like fighting a fat, and out of shape guy they pulled right out of an abu dahbi competition, that never threw a punch in his life. Dont let the nog fight fool you. Cain would Beat him up pretty bad in the stand up, and stuff every single one of Mir’s takedown defense till Mir has enough in quits and Cain can just TKO away!

Another option is Gonzaga, but I think he is too dangerous stylistically for Cain to fight so early in his career. Cain can really be a stud, if they manage his career right. He is still very green and shouldn’t try to rush his way to the top of the rankings. He has plenty of time, and all the potential in the world…but the right career choices need to be made!

by John G on Jun 19, 2009 1:22 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

I would like to see Cain versus:

-Al Turk (Cain can implement his stand up and work on it w/o the fear of getting KTFO)

-Heath (Same as Al Turk)

-Gonzaga (Cain needs to realize that he needs jits in MMA and this is an excellent test)

writing my own rant convinced me to put even more money on Diego.

Stink,

That video made me feel less impressed by Guida. A lot of really high-energy running around before the fight though. Guida fights like a chimp. If he was allowed to bite off fingers, toes, genitals, and faces, I would put Guida at the top of the division.

Stinky – I’ve been defending Clay for as long as I’ve been posting. Nice to see that I’m not the only one who sees that Guida has a good shot at winning this fight. I think a lot of people are going to be surprised at how close/competitive it’s going to be. I’ve got to go with my gut, and say Guida pulls off the upset.

Punch – that was some funny sh*t…

i agree addict, anyone who has guida winning this clearly has no idea who diego sanchez is.

by BMO on Jun 19, 2009 12:07 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Stink, you must be smokin some pretty high dollar sh Clay doesn’t have much of a chance in this fight; Diego is better everywhere. And even if he could beat Diego, who in their right mind thinks Guida is going to get through Penn or Ken Flo to be the LW Champ?? There are only two words that sum up Guida’s future in the UFC LW division and those are “Gate Keeper”.

by O damn he got caught on Jun 19, 2009 9:24 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

UFC addict and Odamn are right. Stink, I love you brother, but I dont know wtf is going through your mind when you think about this match up. I cant envision any scenario in which Diego could lose to cLAY-n-Pray!

stink: FOr the record, Guida has never whooped anyone’s butt. He may “Man Love” his way to a win, but he never actually puts a beating on his opponents. Diego is better at EVERTHING> guida will be outclassed like he has never been before!

There isnt a shadow of adoubt that Diego doesnt win this fight…and Im not that much of a Diego fan, although I do enjoy watching him fight.

7, five minute rounds with a fresh opponent midway through each round is NO FOCKING JOKE!!! THere isnt a pace that clay can push, that will be too much for Diego when he is training like that!

by JOhn G on Jun 19, 2009 9:32 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

guida has never whooped butt?? yeah right!!

slamming a man around like a ragdoll [ie.danzig]

did u see my boy nate after his fight with guida??

guida bruised him up pretty good..and nate told me himself guida is ten times stronger then he looks..

he tiers u out..

peeps think he did nothing in his last fight..thats crazy talk!!

are u guys just mad cause he beat nate diaz?? get the fock over it..

go watch that fight agian..see how he did nothing.lol.

count the elbows, knees and takedowns..

check the reversals, crazy pace and strength..

then come back and tell me that he has no talent..

btw~ if u guys didnt know?

nate trains judo like crazy..ive seen him in the gym throwing his brother around..go look at what happend when nate tried his judo throw on guida..

i could go on forever battling u nerds~ and i got no one on my side..

i feel like tupac~ its me agianst the world

I don’t expect the fight to be completely one sided like most, but I do see Diego coming out victorious unless there is a split decision and it comes down to the ol’ Cecil Peoples coin toss.

by ViolentMike on Jun 19, 2009 10:45 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

wrestling is not fighting and that’s all he does..
Diego has real skills and is too dangerous, Roger finished him in the 3rd and Diego will rock him sooner or later and finish him too, Clay can’t beat la raza!!

by RoB on Jun 19, 2009 11:00 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

What pisses me off is due to that poor decision in the Diaz fight we have to see Huggy instead of Nate vs Sanchez. Now that would have been a great fight to get excited about.

prediction: sanchez will summon jesus into the ring, and in a shocking turn of events jesus will corner guida because they look alike. sanchez is about two molecules brighter than a donkey, but he can gnp the huggy bear caveman. here’s hoping guida actually throws more than 10 punches and doesnt man hump for another 15 minutes

Sanchez has crazy cardio like Guida.

Guida doesn’t have the standup or gnp that Diego has.

Sanchez should make a good showing worthy of a title fight.

Man…155 is where Diego needed to be the whole time. He looks ripped at this weight.

This is going to be a sick fight!

diego is a monster at 155.
no way clay wins this fight.
diego has better BJJ and better stand up.
look for both guys to push the pace for the entire 15mins.
i don’t see either guy gassing.
sanchez by tko.

by lefthook187 on Jun 19, 2009 11:01 AM EDT reply actions   0 recs

guida never gasses. and even if he does he will just lay on people and zap their energy by osmosis. maybe he could zap some standup from somebody one day, and it wouldnt hate him so much.

by krzbug999 on Jun 19, 2009 11:50 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Stinky, i totally respect your opinion, and you make valid points. The only problem is that everything that Guida excels at, Diego excels at even more. There’s one other thing to point out…..Diego is excellent is many aspects of the fight game, but one of his most dominant assets is hardly ever mentioned, and that’s his chin. Diego is one of the toughest bastards in the UFC, period. Diego has never even been close to being knocked out. Hell, i defy anyone to tell me where Diego has even had his bell rung? Nobody can cuz its never happened. Forget about all the crazy Taichi yoga bullshit, underneath it all, Diego is a tough as nails mexican badass cholo from Albequerque who will do nothing but smile and come at you harder if you crack him in the chin. Guida’s only chance is to be a wet blanket, and he won’t be able to do that tomorrow night. Diego wins in dominant fashion.
