UFC Quick Quote: Brock Lesnar is built like a black man

"I bet you I’ve taken over 60 steroid tests. In college I had 15 random drug tests in two years. I’ve taken drug tests for the NFL, the WWE, the UFC. I must be pretty good at masking steroids. God gave me this body: Are you jealous of it or what? Give me a break. I got the genetics of—not to get into racism or anything — but I’m built like a black man. Would you say so? ... It’s all genetics. I wouldn’t say we’re all created equal. That’s just to make the other guys feel good who don’t have what you’ve got."
-- UFC Heavyweight Champion Brock Lesnar tells Maxim magazine in recent feature article about his God-given genetics, as well as how he feels regarding the allegations that he is/was a steroid user — allegations that have apparently followed him for well more than a decade. Lesnar is a massive specimen, weighing near 285 pounds these days and cutting down to the heavyweight division limit of 265 pounds around fight time. He will challenge interim heavyweight champion Frank Mir at UFC 100 on July 11 in a title unification bout. It’s important to note that Lesnar will more than likely be tested for steroids several times before and after the match by the Nevada State Athletic Commission (NSAC) for illegal/banned substances.

Not that I like Lesnar or anything, but I hope people don’t blow this out of proportion…

Lets just say, up until this point I was on the fence about who to root for at 100; now I’m %100 in favour of Frank Mir winning this fight.

And I have no idea where he gets the idea that you have to be a black guy to have a killer physique?? Apparently he’s never heard of Arnold Schwarzenegger or Lou Farigno???

Yep, he’s built like a black man alright[as massive as, or even more massive than Kimbo, LOL], but his d!ck is that of a white boy. But in fairness, his d!ck-sword tattoo could be as big as a black dude’s, hehehe!

lol, this is just a stupid subject, people will believe what they want to believe; the prevailing mentality here seems to be “don’t confuse me with facts my mind is made up”. It wouldn’t matter if he could prove beyond a shadow of a doubt that he did not use roids, most of you guys would make the accusation regardless. I do think that the guy is genetically gifted, you do not get that type of bone structure from using roids/HGH.
“HGH does not cause abnormal bone growth (Acromegalia). After a person’s period of natural growth in childhood, the ends of their bones fuse and quit growing.”
Was reading about HGH (as I was looking into using it myself if I could get my hands on it) and that was one of the medical facts I came across in my reading. You cannot get the kind of frame that guy has just from using HGH/steroids. But I know that info will likely just be waved off/dismissed by most readers and they just continue to believe w/e they want.
Dont’ get me wrong, I’m not saying he is clean and never used roids, but I am saying that I don’t know. I’m not gonna condemn the guy for something that I have no idea about.

My understanding is that HGH will in fact cause abnormal bone growth. I remember back when all the press was going after Barry Bonds they showed before and after pics revealing that Bonds’ skull had actually gotten larger. I’m not an expert here by any means but that build of Lesnar’s seems unnatural to me. Having said that, I’m 5’11 and weigh 170 so any man that size seems unnatural to me. LOL!

there was this guy that passed 100 tests before he got caught, that guy inserted a ton of blood into his body a couple of times on the morning of the tests..
Maurice Greene never got caught either, and Marion Jones admitted to have cheated like 6 years later when her career was almost over..

I don’t think that Brock is masking anything, or using steroids at this time. Genetically, he is a freak. He has a giant bone structure, and with his genetics it is easy to see him being able to be the size that he is now without the use of steroids. That being said, he definately juiced during his time in the WWE, but that was years ago, and doesn’t have any bearing on his performance today.

I was going for Mir from the beginning… but neither guy should headline UFC 100.
My prediction: One year from now, everybody is going to realize how big of a joke this fight was when Lesnar stops taking MMA so seriously and Mir is irrelevant again.

i agree- he shouldn’t be the main event, it should be GSP Alves- and im not saying that he isn’t juicing it now, or did he in college, but from the WWE and that picture as ripped as he is, it shows he juiced it.. training for WWE and MMA is two different things, in MMA WAY MORE WORK how come he doesn’t look like the picture now ?? hmm
by ricky on Jun 18, 2009 5:12 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
Thats not true, in MMA your workout isn’t %100 geared toward building muscle and cutting fat; it’s geared toward being a better fighter. All he had to worry about in his wrestling days was having a killer physique, that was the primary focus and having that ripped look is what he got paid for. Now he gets paid to win fights.
I don’t know whether he did or didn’t but he’s definatley not getting the benefit of the doubt on this issue, the guy just gets crucified on this one everytime. IMO if there was some radical medical breakthrough and a doctor could somehow tell if he had ever used HGH/roids in his entire life and he came out clean. People would STILL accuse him of steroid use.

I think that booking this fight as the main event is one of the biggest mistakes of Dana’s Career! He has never sold out so bad!
This is a historic event…and having Mir and Brock headline the show is just a slap in the face to all the hardcore fans that have been riding with the UFC and the sport from day 1. Yes its a title fight, but not a legit one! uFc Heavyweight title meant NOTHING anyway, but having these 2 fight for it at such a historic event makes a mockery of the UFC hw title and the hardcore fans that actually know ANYTHING about this sport!!
i would prefer seeing old farts like LIdell, and Randy on this card…then 2 over rated heavyweights! tim sylvia deserves to headline the historic UFC 100 card more then Mur and Brock do! Only thing worse would have been adding Kimbo to the main card!
Mir vs. Brock is about as legit of a title fight as GSP/SErra was…only difference at least the gSP/Serra fight featured 1 legit top fighter that has EARNED the right to be called uFC champion.
What the UFC should have done for this historic event is bump brock/Mir to UFC 101, and move either the Penn/florian or Anderson/Forrest fight at UFC 100. Pair 1 of those legit fights with the GSP/Alves fight and that would be solid headlining fights for the historic event!
by JOhn G on Jun 19, 2009 9:02 AM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
I completely agree John…I wasn’t very happy to hear about this being the last fight on the card. I figured for sure it would have been GSP/Alves. This fight should never have made it onto this card. It should have been Mir/Lesnar on 98 as originally planned and then they could have had Evans/Rampage for 100. I know Mir got “injured” then he said he would have been fine to fight at 98…nice recovery Frank…lol. That would have made 100 a damn sick card. The UFC heavyweight title is the weakest title in the UFC by far and it should not be headlining the biggest event in UFC history to date…plain and simple.

The only excuse I can make for Brock is that he went to school based on his wrestling.
I don’t expect CPA’s to knock out 50 push-ups in a row and I don’t expect most athletes to be articulate.

I know what you’re saying OD, and normally I’d agree with you. I work in a gym and I would bet my house he did steroids. Look at his WWE pictures. That is not natural dude, he looks bigger than the guys in the bodybuilding competitions where they test for juice.
Add to that the fact that when interviewed a year or so ago he is directly asked by the interviewer “have you ever taken steroids” he refuses to answer the question directly and instead replies “I have never failed a drug test”. That is not the response of a guy who’s never taken steroids. It was an ESPN E60 interview if you haven’t seen it.
by Jeremyjackson on Jun 18, 2009 6:17 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
Yea you could be right; like I said, I’m not ruling it out and saying he got that way naturally; kind of takes a little bit away from the man if thats the reason he’s able to come in to a fight with that size/speed and win at a top level. I’m just trying to avoid diminishing the quality of his performances in the sport until it’s clear he’s actually cheating/cheated.
by O damn he got caught on Jun 18, 2009 6:22 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
I agree. The evidence suggests it but it’s not confirmed. The guy is naturally athletic and big and quick, I don’t doubt that. I also don’t think he is taking anything now. Steroids do give you a little bit of permanent size but not much. The guy is naturally huge and is winning now on his natural gifts IMO.

I agree completely Lesnar is winning by virtue of his natural physical gifts, but one of those gifts is certainly not a high IQ. So far, Lesnar has been good for the sport and has re-injected interest in the UFC HWT division, which has been lackluster for a few years. As a fighter, my chief concern as Lesnar fights the top guys is how he will do with the thinking aspect of MMA, especially vs opponents vastly more experienced. This fight vs Mir should reveal quite a bit.

I get so tired of PC bullshit. You could quote statistical difference in two races based purely on science and people would go apeshit and call you racist. We may all deserve equal treatment, but we’re not equal genetically. It’s retarded to think so. If you could actually measure bodyfat and lean muscle mass and average it for every race, do you think it would all come out the same? If you asked me to guess if the average black man in America is more muscular than the average white man, I’d guess yes, but bodyfat and dark skin may do more to increase muscular appearance. So I’m not sure, but it would be interesting to know. When will we realize that it’s the “hate” ingredient that matters, not racist stereotypes, many of which have legitimate roots. Just don’t hate and kill people for being different and we’re good. Why do we try to overcorrect for everything?
I don’t like Brock, but I’m fine with him saying that.

Well said, PYITO.
I have never understood the problem people have with recognizing the physical attributes that differ groups of people.
To act like there are not differnces is just plain ignorant. I understand people are afraid the discussion will creep into the “smarter race” talk and that’s a differnt story. Put an average black man next to an average Asian, next to an average Spanish man, next to an average caucasian man, and tell me there are no physical differences. Whatever they are, they are not usually hard to find.

“the problem people have with recognizing the physical attributes that differ groups of people”
Actually there are numerous scientific studies on this very subject google - Professor J. Philippe Rushton thesis on Race, Evolution, and Behavior. --
And further reading - Why Race Matters: Race Differences and What They Mean by Michael Levin -
As far as Lesnar – he is at the extreme end of the bell curve for any race and it was his genetics that put him there. He has furthered those genetic traits with training, nutrition and supplements – wether any of them were illegal is up for debate, but the foundation is genetic and as he is correct in stating his physical attributes are more in line with the average for Blacks than the average for his own race. His statement is not Politically Correct or eloquently worded but I don’t think its “stupid”.

The problem, Punch, is that people who DO hate use fuzzy science which points out racial inequalities as justification for their hate. The Nazis used “scientific” propoganda to excuse their own superiority and the subsequent debasing of other races.
After the last Ice Age 10 to 12 thousand years ago the vast majority of human life was extinguished; we all hail from the same 10-50 thousand person gene pool, and recent DNA examination has proven that we are all virtually 99.something identical to each other. So while there are slight variations between races, most of these differences are based on climate and diet and culture and education and geography.
The things we often criticize about Middle Eastern peoples, for example, are based on their culture, not their genetics. They are Caucasians who are raised in a completely different environment with a vastly different world view than we are. We all share more similarities than we do differences.
Oh, and Brazilian chicks have fine asses.
by Jeremyjackson on Jun 18, 2009 9:23 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
People who hate will find a reason regardless. And misuse of science isn’t reason to ignore it. I saw one interesting study where they were looking at how African Americans are more muscular than native Africans. It was due to slective breeding during the slave trade. Strong slaves fetched the most money and so it was economically driven. Horrible thought, but it’s a small scale example of things that can have an impact on the physical traits of certain races. Few people would argue that the average Asian is shorter than the average Caucasion. And that’s okay to say, but if you say Black people can run faster than white people on average, people get pissed. It’s silly. That’s all I’m saying. I don’t care if my race is inferior or superiior in any category because I plan to put myself in the top 5% of humans through my lifestyle. I definitely agree about cultural differences being far more influential than genetic factors. Ultimately, I’m a fan of knowing the truth whether it hurts or not. If your race sucks at driving, has absentee fathers, whatever, who cares b/c you don’t have to fit into any statistic.
There’s a lot of people on here writing off Brock b/c of what he said. There are plenty of reasons to dislike Brock IMO, but that one comment isn’t. We’re being conditioned to get outraged about stuff that isn’t even offensive and may even simply be true.
Oh and Brzilians seem to be beautiful in General. However, when you add Wandy into the equation, he personally drops their average to moderately attractive. Kidding.
by Punch You in the Ovaries on Jun 18, 2009 9:49 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
Yeah, I think it has a lot to do with who’s saying it. If one race has been historically subjugated by another, they tend to get a little bristly when someone from the dominant race makes sweeping generalizations about them, especiaslly if said generalization is a negative one.
That’s why even though the movie “White Men Can’t Jump” kind of pissed me off, a sequel entitled “Black Men Can’t Read” probably won’t be hitting theaters anytime soon.
by Jeremyjackson on Jun 18, 2009 10:34 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
Always an interesting discussion. I just think we’ve gone to far with the PC stuff. How can you fix an issue if you’re afraid to even look at. I have a black friend who teases me about white stereotypes and I tease him vice versa. I love the guy. It seems healthier to me to admit our differences and like each other anyway than to pretend we’re the exactly the same.
Speaking of racial stuff, it was weird to me how Bisping got all pissy about one of the guys commenting about his lilly white legs, lol. Is that an English sensitivity?

Well “genetics” don’t make you lose the vascular definition in the above picture as compared to how he looks now, considering his diet is better and he is training harder than his WWE days. So spin anyway you want, but it doesn’t change the fact that he used and his muscle memory from the steriooid use is helping him today.

There’s a difference between training MMA and bodybuilding, and I’m just curious, how do you know that training MMA is harder than bodybuilding??
“considering his diet is better and he is training harder than his WWE days.”
You don’t know that; thats just your speculation. Two completely different professions, and if anything it makes perfect sense; in MMA the goal is to be a better fighter; in the WWE the goal is to maintain that physique and look like a body builder for the crowd.

Victory is ours, I don’t think you know what muscle memory is or how it works. Of course he did steroids when he was in the WWE, but who doesn’t? If you take steroids today it will not make you bigger 5 years from now and it won’t make you faster either. If it did Ben Johnson would still be fast and so would Carl Lewis. He did steroids when he was paid to take them, he is not a cheater now and that is all that should matter. Everyone on here would take the steroids when he did if you were in the same position as he was so get off the subject, the horse has tapped out.

I don’t think his comment was racist – it was merely an observation. Black guys seem to gain muscle, size, and strength much easier than whites do. I agree with Lesnar, blacks generally do have superior genetics. Fast twitch muscularity in whites just can’t hold a candle to blacks – look at the NBA. Look at how many more absolutely monstrous athletes fill the ranks of the NFL that are black vs those who are white. Top olympic sprinters are almost always black. I could go on and on.

the strongest people are allways white, look who wins the olympic powerlifting, ot who has been the worlds strongest man 5 times marius pudzanowski, or whatever his name is, allways someone from eastern europe, or finland, no doubt descendent from the vikings, blacks are weak, can only run fast cause in africa had to run for their lives to avoid being chased down abd eaten by lions, didnt help them none, lion allways caught them no matter how fast they are, should have left them all in africa, to catch aids

I dunno he’s never been caught and his body being different could be from difference in diet and training. He could of been a weight lifting junkie in WWE days, now not so much. Actors change their bodies all the time for movie roles, so why wouldn’t he change his for MMA since looking muscular means nothing. Perfect example Christian Bale in the Machinist to him in Reign of fire which are two totally different physiques. Until he gets caught all we can do is speculate.

You’re right, until he actually gets arrested in possesion of steroids, there’s no point in spec-
Huh?
Oh.

“Lesnar was exonerated when tests showed that the seized pills were not, in fact, steroids.”
A “detective” claims they were a growth hormone; and a lawyer claims they were “vitamin things” clearly both of these men are experts in the field…
but thats what I like about you little buddy, at least you try to back an argument up with facts. ;)
by O damn he got caught on Jun 18, 2009 6:04 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
I know they weren’t steroids… I was just being a smartass and pointing out he had in fact been arrested for them.
Little buddy? How do you know I’M not on steroids? Hmmmm?
by Jeremyjackson on Jun 18, 2009 6:09 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
AND BTW, HGH in pill form might do next to nothing for a person. Google it; look up HGH, the injectable is the only way you’re going to see the kind of results we’re talkin about with this guy.
by O damn he got caught on Jun 18, 2009 6:17 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
And no, it doesn’t make sense to stack HGH in pill form with an HGH injectable. Don’t even go there.

by O damn he got caught on Jun 18, 2009 7:52 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
HGH doesn’t come in a pill form, unless you are talking about gh enhancing supplements, which for the most part don’t work.
by naturalshadow on Jun 19, 2009 2:24 AM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
Talking about an “HGH releaser” basically; but you’re right, it’s not HGH in pill form.

good post, probably the only person on here I can agree with on this subject.

I just posted a link here (in moderation) that details Lesnar’s arrest for possessing of what were thought to be steroids. The charges were dropped, but the arresting detective claims they were some kind of growth hormone, while Lesnar’s attorney contends they were some kind of “vitamin things”.
by Jeremyjackson on Jun 18, 2009 5:50 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
they were definitely HGH, this was before HGH was big! He got off, good for him! We won’t be having this debate after his record in the UFC is .500!

Nah Brock’s the future; he’s going to win on size and strength alone, assuming he comes in with some decent striking he’s going to start dominating; who the hell can take one of those bombs to the dome after he learns how to box and keep fighting?
by O damn he got caught on Jun 18, 2009 7:53 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
Hilarious! I’m an even a bigger fan of Lesnar now. In general black athletes do have a lower percentage of body fat and a higher ratio of fast-twitch muscle fiber. That’s all Brock was saying. It’s about time the UFC had a true heavyweight champion/contender… One that’s not afraid to speak his mind and back it up.
by whatev on Jun 18, 2009 5:51 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs
his best friend basically already ‘ratted’ him out when he said that Brock gained a huge amount of weight and mass in 1 year right when he started college.. yeah, that doesn’t just happen way after puberty.
by RJ on Jun 18, 2009 5:51 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs
Actually it can happen.
My Uncle was a small guy all the way through High School then shortly after graduation he grew 4 or 5 inches in a year or so. He also filled out.
Also, Big Timmy has gone on record that he didn’t start getting big until around the time he left High School.
I myself grew a lot my Senior Year, I looked completly diffrent my Senior year than my Junior year in High School. That was one year away from college.
The moral is everyone’s different.
by jtc2112 on Jun 18, 2009 6:30 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
It could happen through weight-lifting…

Brock is retarded……He has blond hair more then likely the moron comes from German/viking countries these people are huge bigger then African people almost always….then again Brock is a farm boy i doubt he knows much about anything other then ‘wressling’
He could be refering to ‘black people’ African-Americans who were bred to be slaves, black people from America are way way bigger then Africans from Africa, even then most Blondies are equal size if not bigger.

“not to get into racism or anything” — anytime someone says that you know they’re going to spout some sort of racial stereotype. Bet he also called “No Homo” right before he got that dick tattoo on his chest
by Oscar Mayer on Jun 18, 2009 6:04 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs
Ok man I’m not picking on you, really, but I thought it particularly ironic, and a little bit funny, that someone with the screen name “oscar mayer” is commenting on Lesnar’s peepee tattoo.
…I’m just saying

Who gives a fuck about the ‘black man’ statement – he clearly meant nothing by it – just leave it for fucks sake. Also on the sterioid issue – he was huge in highschool and college, he is naturally built big – however i still beleive at some point, in WWE he was on gear – im almost positive of that.

Some guys just has easier to get muscles and some have to work there ass of to get muscles

they guy is a beast when he trains..i’m not saying he never did anything to enhance it, but he trains at 110%..he can maintain this bulk he has with the right diet etc etc..he is prolly clean for the last few years..and let’s give him a break, he is a freak of nature.

Brock is a fucking dumber then a sledge hammer. Your race doesn’t dictate the amount of muscle you can have. Its pure DNA that does and a lot of hardwork, its just some people have different frames and can easily stack on muscle more than others, there is tons of criterias that could come into effect here, and steroids is defenitly one.
by Stab to the Liver on Jun 18, 2009 6:37 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs
Ok, I’m always mispelling crap and making huge clerical errors…but, since you are accusing someone of being dumber than a sledge hammer, I had to assume you were dictating your post to a ghost writer that obviously made a few mistakes. I did my best, and took the libety to correct a few.

you would be a fool to believe athletes still take steroids, they have way better stuff they can take tat wont even show up on a drug test.
i’d be willing to bet allot of the UFC is on some kind of HGH type shit.

I was pulling for Brock right up until that statement, now I hope Murr pulls of his leg.
by Stab to the Liver on Jun 18, 2009 7:09 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs
I saw Brock wrestle several times while he was at Minnesota, He was just as big or bigger (overall size, vascular, etc.) as he appeared in the WWE (granted, from what I’ve seen which is not a lot). He’s never been completely “body builder” solid like everyone is saying. He’s trained his whole life in some form and he’d started with a MASSIVE frame to build on.
by SKGBJJ on Jun 18, 2009 7:10 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs
the funny part is how everybody hates lesnar, but you can deny the man is a monster and he will win and win more fights…
by Ryosuke on Jun 18, 2009 7:33 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs
since when is giving a race a compliment being degrading? saying black people have less body fat and tend to have better built and more muscular bodies doesnt sound like a degrading thing to me..
anyone who is offended by that is a fucking moron…
“oh damn you just said i have superior genetics im gonna go call reverand jessie jackson and have a protest you racist bastard!”
really?

notice how he never says, “i never took steroids” but instead says, “i never failed a steroid test”???
there’s a difference in question and answer, how long is the half-life of steroids? when does it become undetectable?
time to google.
still…i like brock lesnar. there are pros and cons to the guy. i like frank mir too who of course has pros and cons like everybody else. i’m just excited for ufc 100!!!

LOL… the old genetics excuse, ask any pro BBer and they will blurt out this lame " it’s all genetics baby " bullshit.
Nobody was built this way say 50 years ago, so you gotta ask yourself what’s changed since then, are we really expected to believe human genetics were different then?
by Ermac on Jun 19, 2009 7:36 AM EDT reply actions 0 recs
Not at all, but think about training methods 50 years ago and the science behind body building then vs now; now people know the optimum amount of sleep they need; how many grams of protein to eat daily, how many reps/sets with how much weight gets you maximum results; the workout equipment itself is much better, the methods are improved, and thats 50 years of additional study, research and understanding to back up improved technology.
