I think AA had a better chance and was stylistically a worse match up for Fedor, Barnett’s style really isn’t all that much of a threat to Fedor; it’s going to turn into a grappling match cause Josh really doesn’t have the hands to be trading with Fedor for 5 rds.

Agreed. Josh won’t want to stand with Fedor. If Barnett gets on top of Fedor, Fedor could be in trouble though. My prediction? Fedor by GnP TKO in the second round.

by Jeremyjackson on Jun 18, 2009 4:27 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

I predict the same. Tko gnp in the 2nd.

I liked Gegard’s old nickname better. “The Young Vagabond” > “The Dream Catcher” But whatever. The guy is a badass hands down, and will beat down Renato Sobral.

Vitor by tko
Heiron by UD

Looking forward to Lauzon vs Horodecki. I think that should be good. I don’t know much about either guy. I know Horodecki was an IFL champ (right?). But I like the brother tandems in MMA, so I’ll stick with it with the Lauzons. Dan FTW.

I don’t know that Horodecki was ever a champ but definatley a great prospect; at 19 years old to be in professional MMA fights and be winning consistently is impressive as hell.

You guys gonna call me crazy but I,will go with Barnett on this one!
First time that I pick against Fedor btw!
I’m positive on Belfort too…the rest i’m still undecide.

If Fedor looks as out of shape and disinterested as he did against AA your prediction will come true… but I expect a more disciplined and focused Fedor this time.

by Jeremyjackson on Jun 18, 2009 5:09 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

It’s not crazy, Fedor admittedly didn’t train right for AA; if he does the same thing here and doesn’t train right for Josh, he could be in for his first real loss in MMA.

O damn- you are correct. Horodecki was never IFL champ, but I believe Ryan Schultz defeated him in their rematch to get the belt though.

Fedor will beat Barnett. even if Fedor is bored with him.

by Syn on Jun 18, 2009 5:12 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Alpha- you’re crazy. This will be worse than the beatings he took from Mirko or Yvel (yea he was getting smashed from the bottom just admit it). I think you’re expecting to see a Barnett-Nog I type of fight with scrambles and aggressive guard and top games and a side order of robbery on the judging. But Fedor won’t roll with him. He’ll hold position and GNP or kill him standing.

I think Barnett is definitely a tHREAT and Im the biggest Fedor cocksucker that has ever lived. Josh scares me! Fedor has grappled with a lot of really HUGE men, but none have had the combination of Size and serious technical ability that Josh Brings to the table. We wont see Barnett being armbarred or Kimura’ed by anyone including Fedor! Only way that Fedor can submit Barnett is to take his back, and do some serious damage with some striking to loosen JOsh up and then sink in the rear naked choke!

For Fedor to win, he will need to unleash his G N P, which is by far the most Brutal ground n pound assault that the sport has ever seen. Problem is that Josh isnt exactly that easy to take down. Lucky for Fedor his hips are the best in the business and his athleticism and explosiveness should be enough to put Josh on his back, a position that Josh hasnt had to spend much time being in throughout his stellar career.

fedor will win this fight, but I have always said that Barnett owuld be his biggest threat.

imo, fedor’s speed and athleticism will be the difference maker in this fight. AA gave Fedor trouble because Fedor was clearly under trained , and Arlovski matched his Athleticism. Neither will be the case in this fight! Fedor will take it very serious. Its the last fight on his affliction contract, and with this win, he will have even more leverage when its time for him to negotiate his next contract with whatever organization he chooses to sign with.

I have heard Dana say that if Barnett upsets Fedor, he would accept Barnett back in the UFC with open arms….when in the past, he let his personal beef with Josh keep us from actually seeing a legit top 5 heavyweight that has actually earned his place in the rankings fighting in the uFC octagon.

It shouldnt take such a monumental upset like Barnett beating Fedor to make Dana put his petty personal beefs to the side so that the fans can see A REAL top heavyweight who has actually proved it, fighting in the Octagon!

Yeah NNR that’s what I expected.I think Barnett, will be prepare to roll with Fedor…Fedor doesn’t look good lately,he’s kind of out of shape add that to his lost at sambo plus more exposure than usual…I don’t know why I have that feeling, but I strongly believe that Fedor, will get his 1st real lost in August!

Sorry john to go against,Fedor this time…i’m still a fan though!

Also NNR to answer your question of the other day…
I don’t think that we assist to a decline of good BJJ practitioner in MMA.With the continuously evolution of the sport,a lots of top BJJ experts that would love to make a quick $ will eventually make the, transition to MMA just, like the big name of today did.Of course it always gonna have a few who wont want anything about getting punch in the face but after seeing more guys like Maia or Roger(if he’s serious about fighting MMA)do well in MMA w/o getting hit to much…i’m confident that some will come over the fence.
Guys at Alliance, like Langhi,Garcia,Humphreys,McPherson hell even Barral and the kid Lima Tavares will soon make the jump(I believe)

As for the wrestler…no we don’t assist to a decline we always got a new one who shows up almost every 3 month(again personal opinion that I can’t back with fact)!

Striker though your right…but we all know the reason why…!

Good post john I agree…
Yeah Dana said it,just like he said that he want Shield,Diaz back and even TITO!

I’ll go with Barnett on this one Buddy, even if i’m agreeing with your post!

by Alpha Male 360 on Jun 19, 2009 9:41 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

no worries guys. Fedor is the greatest fighter alive…but Josh is a legit top 3 heavyweight. I cant be mad at someone picking Fedor to lose to a top guy like Barnett! Just read all my posts…Barnett scares me. I always show him RESPECT!

by JOhn G on Jun 19, 2009 9:51 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Santiago’s been on quite the tear since Belcher and Leben knocked him out of the UFC… but none of his opponents could punch like Vitor. Personally, I think he’s been overrated by beating a bunch of mid-level fighters, and Vitor’s going to put him to sleep.

I’m actually looking forward to the Daley vs Hieron fight; thats going to end in highlight reel KO fashion for sure.

odamn: NO doubt buddy! THat fight could steal the show…I gotta go with Semtex! Who do u like?

by JOhn G on Jun 19, 2009 9:52 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

I don’t know were you get your love for Semtex like Prof X john…but I think your wrong again about Semtex.Heiron will take this,I heard that he’s on fire in training these days!

by Alpha Male 360 on Jun 19, 2009 10:03 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

My love for Semtex comes from the fact that welterweighth division lacks great strikers, and in the striking department, SEmtex can Bang with any welterweight alive!

DReam fight:
SEmtex vs. Alves under k1 rules!

Maybe it is just me, but this card isn’t nearly as stacked as the other 2…bye Affliction.

by Michael on Jun 18, 2009 4:21 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

This card is crap. A bunch of UFC Washouts. the only interesting fight is the Babalu fight. AA and old Hot Dog neck Tim Sylvia getting knocked out so quickly has shown how week Affliction really is. Barnett, Fedor and Sobral are all they have the rest are people I was glad the UFC got rid of. Now with Strikeforce aquiring Elite, Affliction really has no place to go but bankruptcy.

The Affliction fad is over. The dick has gone limp on there clothes (you can by there shirts and TJ MAXX) and they cant do an mma show right. They wont even be a company in a year.

by RJ on Jun 18, 2009 4:48 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

What about 185 Belfort? And way to throw your chips in with the Tim Sylvia haters. Two time UFC heavyweight champ sucks but the non champ babalu is somehow awesome. I think you overestimate how stacked an average ufc card is. they usually have unknowns fighting on the main card.

by Jonathan Zungre on Jun 18, 2009 6:17 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

What??? You have Daley, Heiron, Belfort, Santiago, Babalu, Barnett and Fedor and the card’s weak?!?!?

What a prick. Go back to playing with your WWE dolls as the only MMA you know about is obviously what is spoonfed to you by Dana “FUCKING” White!

Can’t wait for this one. Affliction has had two AMAZING shows and even if the production quality wasn’t up there for the first one the fights definately more than made up for it. I believe they made amends for the 2nd show and have shown they want to get it right and put together exciting matchups.

The fact they are working together with other organisations as well shows their support to the sport and helping to give the fans the fights they want to see regardless of which banner it is under.

I sure hope they stay around and give us MMAManiacs more choices to see quality fights.
