Former boxing champion Ray Mercer celebrates his ten second knockout win over Tim Sylvia at Adrenaline III last Saturday (June 13) in Birmingham, Alabama. Apparently "Merciless" was just that -- and also a bit ornery after training for a boxing match only to have it changed to MMA at the last minute. Perhaps Mercer would have canceled the bout under different circumstances instead of fighting a former UFC Heavyweight Champion, but in this economy even Ray-Ray has to take any payday he can get. In the end it didn't matter, as "The Maine-iac" got put to sleep before any semblance of mixed martial arts was displayed.

geez..i’d let someone knock me out if i knew it was only gonna be a 10 second build up to the lights out..prolly the easiest $ out there without being beaten senseless for 15 mins..

They did change it up on him the last second , which gave Tim a HUGE advantage so I can see where hes coming from ..
Its not what he signed up for and they tried too fuck him imho , they should have known before hand if they werent going too be able too box.

How did it give Tim a HUGE advantage? What other mma skills has Tim shown outside of terrible boxing and clinching against a cage. His kicks suck, and he has no ground game at all. Tim was a champion because the division was absolutely pathetic at that time. He could never hold the belt again.

why would you go against a former olyimpic gold medalist boxer in a striking match if you can take him down? even if you are andrei arlovski,bj penn,hell even anderson silva you put them against a former world champion boxer in a fight with smaller gloves who do you think is gonna win? the damn boxer

I actually disagree. A striker like Anderson has many more weapons at his disposal than a champion boxer. I think Anderson would have lost to Roy Jones in a boxing match, but if it where a Thai Boxing match, then Anderson would kill him.

Beating Sylvia is definately more of an achievment than beating Kimbo without doubt, but we all know as well as he does that he could never really beat someone in a real MMA match, but if he does happen to catch you on the chin, you will be going to sleep. That is a fact, I do not know why all the anti boxing fans are getting their knickers in a twist it doesn’t give MMA a bad name it just makes the MMA fighters who decide to stand and trade with him look stupid. Stop getting all worked up over this boxing versus MMA crap, it is so annoying. When an MMA fighter uses boxing to knock out another MMA opponent that is fine beacuse it is another MMA fighter doing it, but when a boxer knocks out an MMA fighter out who decides to trade with him, you guys act like it is the end of the world.WTF.
