I’m looking forward to this fight more than the Sanchez Guida fight. Anyone else hate the fact that Guida hugged Diaz for 3 rounds and won?

I expected more from Nate in that fight. I expected him to show us he was ready for the upper levels of the division. He is not quite there.
Joe Daddy is free falling and has to be as hungry as you can be for a win. He inches closer to Dana’s chopping block with each loss, and he knows it.
Joe Daddy, TKO (strikes) 2nd RD.

i think diaz is a lock against joe daddy
he should of won that fight and we would of been seeing a much more entertaining number 1 contender match in diaz/sanchez
but never mind i starting to get used to bullshit decisions now
anyways you look at both of there last fight and you see joe daddy knowing that he had no chance of winning against a below par version of sanchez so he tried to pump up the crowd and make it an exciting fight so he didnt get kicked out the ufc
and then you look at diaz…. he got dry humped by guida for 3 rounds but never quit he was always working for something…. always looking for a judo throw or submission and he’s boxing looked crisp when they were actually separated from each other… a lot of people would of give up trying to get huggie bear off them at the end of the second and on top of that he should of won that fight
so to sum it up joe daday has looked rubbish in his last 2 fights and diaz has got good all around skills and improves every fight + he shown he has good heart and determination in his last fight

Nate is just a stud! He is so good at such a young age that it is scary! Forget how skilled he is, but his composure is beautiful to see in such a young fighter thats already facing and beating good competition.
2 years from now he is going to be a FOCKING PROBLEM!!! I look forward to eventually seeing him and Ken Flow do battle, but thats still at least a year away. NO doubt in my mind that 1 day he will be fighting for the title and probably wear that UFC GOLD around his waist when its all said n done! But now, I am just getting ahead of myself. Fighters I would like to see Nate matched up with, in the next year are:
-Huerta (if he is still alive)
-TYson Griffin (who he has been calling out for a while now)
-Frankie Edgar (it would be interesting to see how he deals with Frankie’s speed
I would also like to see him fight Danzig and Lauzon, but if he beats JOe stevenson, he will be ABOVE fighting them.

No, I thought that fight was awesome. I watch Guida/Diaz and Guida/Danzig every night religously. I have to go now, I just painted my shed and I like watching it dry.

yes, that is not how a fight should be scored, takedowns are worthless if you can’t do anything on the ground..
by RoB on Jun 16, 2009 4:09 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
Rob-
Agreed.
Scoring should be based on damage, knockdowns, sub attempts and takedowns(combined with effective striking/subs).
by OJR on Jun 16, 2009 4:10 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
The idea of judging “damage” is nonsense. It’d allow judges to be completely subjective, because there is no way to fairly tell how badly hurt a fighter is just by looking.
Even worse is the whole “well, you just need to look at the face to see who did more damage” business, which pops up so often around here.
If you looked at Cheik Kongo’s face after his last fight, you’d have barely been able to see the bruises, his skin is so dark. Meanwhile, guys with light skin who have some scar tissue from boxing look like dog meat after a few grazing shots.
by MattNY on Jun 16, 2009 5:12 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
Hate to sound like a “smartass” but judging is already subjective.
Otherwise, we would not be having all of these good debates.
;)

scoring a fight on sub attempts??? c’mon seriously everyone would be trying flying armbars and arm in guillotines from there back in side control if that were the case
they would try hopeless sub attempts just to win the round
by ufcaddict on Jun 16, 2009 5:26 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
ufcaddict-
You don’t think sub attempts should count as points?
Really? Why not?
by OJR on Jun 16, 2009 5:27 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
the most idiotic stuff ever must be scoring points for someone getting up to the feet again after being taken down, and for escaping submissions.. whoever controls the ground game bottom or on top should win, if the guy at the bottom goes for more submissions and not taking any damage from the guy on top then he should of course win! but that’s not the case in 99% of the fights i watch, the guy on top always win regardless of how bad he s*cks..
by RoB on Jun 16, 2009 5:51 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
lol i think my post above yours was pretty clear why
i think close/near submissions should be scored but not any old sub attempt or else everyone will be trying it
by ufcaddict on Jun 16, 2009 5:54 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
Isn’t the point of a fight to end it with “any old sub attempt”?
Sorry but your train of thought isn’t cohesive enough to follow.
Thanks for repsonding, though.
by OJR on Jun 16, 2009 6:36 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
OJR – just because it’s already somewhat subjective is no reason to make it more so. Efforts should be made to take things in the opposite direction.
Also, a lot of it isn’t really subjective as much as it is a victim of
a)Rules that aren’t nowhere as clear as they could and should be and
b)Ignorant judges who clearly don’t understand the rules as they are now

Ya no shit. I was at that fight, and from what i saw Diaz picked him apart on his feet and nearly submitted him on a few occasions while on his back. Guida? Did absolutely nothing in that fight. Well maybe a little humping
by corey on Jun 16, 2009 4:23 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
He shortened “you know what I’m sayin?” to “you know?” and only said it 50 instead 100 times. That’s progress.

Hopefully Nate has learned from his “loss” to Guida. Don’t underestimate Joe.
Keep it standing and use your length to bust him up.
If it goes to the ground, put him to sleep.
End of story.

Diaz brothers are my favorite fighters. I will be rooting hard and I see a RNC in Joe’s future.
by sf on Jun 16, 2009 4:05 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs
I’m with ya, the Diaz brothers are bad ass. Training with Nick can only help Nate’s cause.
by jammin on Jun 16, 2009 4:11 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
+1. Great having his brother and the other top notch training partners in Jake Shields and Gilbert Melendez. I’m sure his brother doesn’t take it easy on him. Say what you want about their personality but those are two super tough guys. Nick and Nate are as tough as they come. Almost impossible to finish.
by Adam T. on Jun 16, 2009 4:31 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
Nick is one of my favorites, has been for years, Nate not so much! He isn’t as mature or talented as Nick!
by kevin on Jun 16, 2009 4:59 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
Yeah, when I think of Nick Diaz the first word that springs to mind is maturity.
by Jeremyjackson on Jun 16, 2009 5:12 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
Dana said that Nick is hard to deal with(contract) but he would, like to get him back in the UFC!
by Alpha Male 360 on Jun 16, 2009 5:17 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
What a surprise! A smart ass comment from Mr. Jackson. Nick is all about creating the hype and building up fights. I watched a great interview on Sherdog with Nick recently. He came across very well and was actually quite enjoyable to listen to.

Is “JeremyJackson” the same Jeremy Jackson who fought in the UFC? or someone with the same name? or what?
by jammin on Jun 16, 2009 5:50 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
Yeah,it’s the same and he posting from jail!
by Alpha Male 360 on Jun 16, 2009 6:11 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
It’s the same guy. He blogs w/ us from his Prison cell and between court dates.

Its sounds like a common name anyway.. I wonder why people always ask him that.

Joe was never ever a great fighter the only reason he fought BJ is because they had no one to fight him at the time so they overhyped this fool and guess what it shows he cant win shiit. Diaz should whoop his ass.
by Khaos_Warrior on Jun 16, 2009 6:29 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs
let’s be fair with joe; he didn’t lose to cans. bj, florian, and sanchez are all better than diaz by far.
by JB on Jun 16, 2009 8:23 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
huggy guida needs to chop off his nasty sweaty stringy hair..he had better not dry hump for round after round..
i like diaz and agree the younger bro is most def. got some attitude issues.. but nick is generally exciting to watch..like i said before..the card is good cuz it’s free..that’s about it.
