really enjoyed this fight always been a big fan of both but i was up for wandy in this … its a shame he lost but it would of been a lot worst if he got knocked out… he might of even retired
but he lost a close decision and hurt franklin a few times and shown he could hang with the best so i dont think this loss effects him a lot

Best it could have gone for me. I love Rich and I dumped a lot of money on him so I needed him to win, but I didn’t want it to be at the expense of Wandy’s career. This fight count as a positive Sila (in my eyes) on his way to 185. I just hope at 185, they start him lower on the ladder and let him bolster his reocrd.

Everyone has been talking about how wandy should retire with a loss to Franklin….why would he? Last night he proved that he can still hang, and be very competitive against world class fighters.
Whe you are consistently matched up against World class fighters, losses will occur. NO easy fights for Wandy! Since joining the UFC he has been fighting nothing but the elite:
chuck
Jardine
Rampage
Rich Franklin
Had he lost to a guy like Leben, then we can start talking retirement…but no shame in losing a close, hard fought war against Rich Franklin. someone had to lose that fight, and I think both guys went out there, and put on a show! Wandy needs to grab a top american wrestler who can teach him how to properly cut the weight!
After Bisping beats Hendo, I would love to see the rubber match between:
Henderson and Wanderlei at 185 lbs!

Totally agree.
This fight was a check in the “keep fighting” box for Wandy.

Why is there a double standard for Wandy and Chuck. Most want Wand to continue but want Chuck to retire, even though they’re both in the same boat. Recently, both have lost many of their fights to top tier competition. It’s nothing to be ashamed of, but when you lose 5 of 6, it’s time to retire.

john, I know I’ve been WAAAAAY out of the loop for a while…..but what is this gibberish about Bisping beating Hendo…maybe in a race running backwards…but how can viewing ANY of their previous fights lead you to think that.
by chefdaddy on Jun 14, 2009 12:59 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
cause Henderson is a former shell of himself and Bisping is improving by the day! Age has caught up with Hendo and Bisping hasnt event peaked yet!
Don King: big Difference, chuck gets KO’ewd against anyone he matches up against….Wandy just lost a close decision to a top fighter, that many people thought wandy won!
Not even close!

Yeah, I’m so relieved Rich won. Both fighters are classy dudes and it was a good fight. Phew! I thought Rich was in deep trouble there for a minute. Good on ya Franklin.

yeah second round was a lil touchy for rich..it was a fans fight..i don’t want to see rich fight as 205..seems pointless..wand does not need to retire either..he looked more cut than i have ever seen..he just loves to bang and that is always fun to watch..catch weight fights are a great thing..if only to put on great shows..i don’t see the belt around these guys waist, but i like to watch em fight.

I like Rich at 205 though because there are heaps of good matchups for him. Although I wonder if he’s as strong as some of the big 205ers. As Rogan said, he’s a huge middleweight but a small light heavyweight. But that shouldn’t be too much of a hindrance, look at Evans, he’s a smaller LHW and still does well. And I wouldn’t say Machida is bigger than Franklin either. So Rogan could say that about a few 205ers really.
by Johnny Farnham on Jun 14, 2009 8:27 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
but could you see rich bang with machida..i think not..rich is just not the same after the spider rearranged his nose twice..i think he wants nothing to do with 205 anymore..and i don’t blame him.
i think being a small LHW is not a bad thing..more speed in a way.

Yeah, and Machida already handed him his first ever loss. Rich wouldn’t be able to beat him again but who could at the moment? Tough to say anyone could beat Machida. Hopefully he dominates for a long time.
I think 205 is better for Rich because it gives him something to strive for. He isn’t going to get a rematch with Anderson Silva so he can’t go for the title and at least he can go for it at 205 although it’s highly doubtful he’ll get to have a shot, but there are heaps of good matchups for him regardless.

I wonder how well Franklin can do at 205. I thought he deserved the UD win. The end of the fight was great.

I was really pulling for Wandy because he had much more to lose, IMO. The fight was pretty nicker-gripping as they accross the pond.
On another note, I wouldn’t mind reading posts written propperly, without run-on, unpunctuated sentences like the first post.

Looks like we have another grammar Nazi! “Propperly” is spelled “properly”. If you are going to critique someones shit, make sure yours is correct!

lol Franklin against Marquardt next? I would love to see them go at it,and I would love to see Wandy fight the loserof Bisping and Henderson? I hope I propperly spelled everything or the gramar police will be posting lol.

While I agree Franklin vs Marquardt would be an interesting fight, Marquardt is a MW and Franklin intends on staying in the LHT division. There is a greater chance we’d see Wandy vs Marquardt rather than Franklin.

as they……what?….“acCross” the pond…Have to side with chief…If you are getting panties in a bunch over proper grammar…you should try using it yourself first.

im not writting a book i can care less about propperly punciated spelling or whatever you were trying to print
by hddavidson on Jun 14, 2009 4:07 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
That’s a convenient opinion for an elementary school drop-out to have.
Maybe if you learned how to “writt” with “propper punciation” you wouldn’t appear to have FAS and be posting from a juvenile detention center.

This decision loss did nothing to hurt the remainder of Silva’s career which I personally think is still very bright. Not sure how he will do on his first cut to 185 though but there are lots of great fights for him. I definitely don’t want to see him and Anderson anytime soon though because that definitely would end his career. As far as future goes, the same can be said for Rich. Great fighter with many great fights left. Neither will wear a belt again but they are still top of the food chain and not easy wins for anybody. Except maybe Anderson and Lyoto.

They won’t get rid of Wandy. He is a huge draw still and puts on a show every time. Plus, I think he and Dana get along well based on the video I’ve seen.

Wandy really should hang it up. I don’t think anybody wants to see him get clowned by Drew Mcfedries or somebody like that

Wanderlei dont have it anymore…
I been a Wanderlei fan since Pride time, And when I compare him now to who he was back than , OMG what a huge diffrence, I mean, Where is the old Wanderlei that used to finnish fights and used to use the clinch and use to be vicious like a Pitbull ?
Ever since he came to UFC he hasent been himself…
When have you ever seen Wanderlei “Shake hand with Rich before the fight” ? He wasent even vicious with his staredown, If you dont have it in you, Than please retire , Simple as that…
by Il Nino on Jun 14, 2009 11:55 AM EDT reply actions 0 recs
Also, If that was the OLD Wanderlei yesterday, Than he would have eaten up Franklin , Chuck , Rampage , a long time ago…

there are just certain fighter you want to watch..regardless of whether they are going for the belt or not..people that want to put on a wicked fight for the fans..like wand..but yes.. he is not his old self, but exciting still.
