UFC 99 weigh-in results LIVE for 'Franklin vs Silva' from Germany

The official weigh-in event for UFC 99: "The Comeback" from the Lanxess Arena in Cologne, Germany, has come to a close.

All 24 fighters who tipped the scales this morning made weight without incident -- though Stefan Struve and Denis Stojnic didn't want to wait for tomorrow's event and things got a little physical.

They were quickly separated and sent on their way. The only other noteworthy items came via Mirko Filipovic and Roli Delgado.

"Cro Cop" looked uncharacteristically relaxed, smiling and loosey-goosey -- which could translate into a great performance on Saturday.

Delgado on the other hand lived up to his "Crazy Cuban" moniker by sporting a hair and beard combo so thick and out of control he looked like Cha-ka from Land of the Lost.

Main event participants Rich Franklin and Wanderlei Silva were all smiles and bitter rivals Dan Hardy and Marcus Davis managed to get through the event without killing each other.

Here are the complete UFC 99 weigh in results:

Star-divide

195 lbs.: Rich Franklin (194) vs. Wanderlei Silva (194)
265 lbs.: Cain Velasquez (239) vs. Cheick Kongo (230)
170 lbs.: Mike Swick (169) vs. Ben Saunders (169)
170 lbs.: Marcus Davis (171) vs. Dan Hardy (170)
155 lbs.: Spencer Fisher (154) vs. Caol Uno (155)
265 lbs.: Mirko Filipovic (233) vs. Mustapha Al-Turk (236)
155 lbs.: Terry Etim (156) vs. Justin Buchholz (155)
155 lbs.: Dennis Siver (156) vs. Dale Hartt (156)
170 lbs.: Paul Taylor (169) vs. Peter Sobotta (169)
155 lbs.: Paul Kelly (156) vs. Roli Delgago (155)
265 lbs.: Stefan Struve (248) vs. Denis Stojnic (241)
170 lbs.: John Hathaway (170) vs. Rick Story (169)

Note: Fighters are allowed to weigh one pound more than the division limit in non-title fights.

Remember that MMAmania.com will provide LIVE round-by-round, blow-by-blow coverage of the main card action on fight afternoon (Saturday, June 13), which is slated to air beginning at 3 p.m. ET on PPV. The latest quick updates of the live action will begin to flow earlier than that around 1 p.m. ET.

It’s going to be an exciting afternoon of fights so don’t miss it. And remember to check us out for all the pre, during and post-fight UFC 99 coverage you can handle.

Wow Wandi looks like he’s in great shape; completely different attitudes from both Wandi and Cro Cop; I really do not know what to expect here, I’m hoping we’re about to see two old school vets come back and WOW everybody. Everyone looks solid for this event; I can’t wait for these fights guys!

WAR WANDERLEI!
WAR CRO COP!

1. Fedor
2. Anderson silva
3. Miguel Torres
4. GSP
5 BJ penn/ Nick Diaz
.
John, I won’t agree it’s Dana’s doing if big John doesn’t referee Machida/Shogun in LA, but I will say it’s either him or Big John! I thought I read somewhere that Big John doesn’t make himself available fir UFC events!

Machida is in the 5. list too!

Kevin, that was me when you posted the link with the Miguel Torres interview saying he was #7. Thanks.

However have to disagree greatly with the Nick Diaz at #5. Yes he does jump weight classes but I dont think a victory over an aging Frank Shamrock and a 1 dimensional Scott Smith gets you in the top 5 (or even top 15 IMO).

by WB on Jun 12, 2009 11:12 AM EDT up reply actions

Big John has said that he hasn’t gotten his license in reinstated in Nevada because he dosen’t want to cause friction.

Big John has basically said he has no problems with the UFC, but at one point while he was “retired” from reffing he made some suggestions about rules and weight classes that pissed Dana White off pretty good. I think Dana’s words were something to the affect of “Big John is the enemy” of the UFC. Or some such

Big John has stated on the record that he has no problem with UFC, and would like a chance to bury the hatchet.

by jtc2112 on Jun 12, 2009 11:22 AM EDT up reply actions

I agree WB it doesnt, but with the exception of Fedor, I’d put Nick against anyone in that list and give him a chance at victory!

Here we go…

Franklin
Kongo
Saunders
Mirko

In good conscience, I just can’t bet against Wand out-right. The best I can do is give him a split…

60/40 in Franklin’s favor.

jtc2112 it’d be nice if you provided a link on that story. Its very unusual that Dana White would talk trash about big John. He’s the best ref hands down that MMA has had. I remember some of the rules he suggested and they were not that bad to where I thought they would provoke Dana White or the UFC.

Wanderlei has always kind of reminded me of Tong Po, the bad guy from Kickboxer (starring Jean-Claude Van Crackhead). Just thought I’d share that.

Cro Cop typically tips the scales around 220. 233 for him is quite a bump up. It will be interesting to see how the extra pds. work out for him? I’m hoping we see Cro Cop in top form, but I still have major doubts about that happening.

I’m going to have a hard time staying away from Mania and reading the results before the PPV airs; with Wandi in the main event in such a clutch situation where he has really got to pull out a win I’m going to be biting my nails all day Saturday. It’s crazy how I have absolutley nothing to do with this event (or any other mma event for that matter) what so ever yet I’m nervous about the fight. That just goes to show how awesome this sport really is. :)

WAR WANDERLEI!

by O damn he got caught on Jun 12, 2009 9:12 AM EDT up reply actions

I know what you mean O damn…I get REALLY nervous before my favorite fighters fight like GSP, Rashad, and Kenny. I barely sleep for days leading up to their fights cause my mind races with analysis of the upcoming fight. My girlfriend thinks it’s pretty pathetic since I’m not the one fighting. I can’t image what they must be feeling but I guess it’s their life and they somewhat get used to it.

by kevin on Jun 12, 2009 10:44 AM EDT up reply actions

when my fav fighters are fighting..i won’t bet on them so as to not curse them..i was picking fights so well for a few years..then after a while it just seemed if i wanted my fighters to win and i bet on em, they would lose..so i just won’t do it..and yeah i get all nervous and excited for the fights too..my man thinks i’m such a geek for looking at this site all the time..i had to get HIM into mma..ahahaha

by sarah on Jun 12, 2009 12:01 PM EDT up reply actions

Your man let’s you bet??? Women base their bets purely on emotion. Just kidding. My wife doesn’t let me bet. She put her foot down on that one. So, I watch for the love of the sport.

by RedDog on Jun 12, 2009 1:42 PM EDT up reply actions

SARAH, what I often times do when one of my favs is fighting is put a very small bet (often times minimum) in against him when the opp in a significant underdog. That way, either my favorite wins, or I can wipe my tears with some cash.

For example, Hendo happens to be one of my favs. When the odds first came out, I bet $5 that Bisbing will beat Hendo and if he does, I’ll be pissed, but my account will be up $17.50. If he loses, I just paid $5 to watch Hendo beat him down!!!!!! Which is much more than worth it.

But I don’t always do it, Diaz is another one of my favs, but I did not see it worth putting even $5 on Smith, but at -400, I only had Nick in a parlay.

Hey, since none of the other degenerate gamblers seem to be on today, nor have there been new threads, who are you betting on this weekend. Are you finding this card VERY difficult to bet on? I sure am.

I really like Paul Kelly and Terry Etim to both win thier fights, so I’ll be parlaying them.

I’m going to root for Saunders, but at those odds, I am going to bet on Swick.

I am rooting for Cain and he has really been growing on me since he stormed into the UFC back in April last year. Super impressed each time I see him, and his workouts are legendary – already. But is Kongo to big of a step up in competition? NO, Cain is the favorite. Everybody KNEW that Cain and Carwin were the next big things in the HW division. Carwin was a dog against Gabe and he won. Cain is now the FAVORITE against a Top 12 HW. I am a believer in the Brown Pride, but am astonished at him being -200 favorite against Kongo.

I may take Stefan Stuve over Denis Stojnic and also John Hathaway also, but his odds haven’t been on BetUs, only BoDog, and all my BoDog money is tied up on NBA finals props and UFC 100 and 101

And I’ll probably throw a few buck on Wanderlei cuz I am going to be rooting for him like noneother.

As for the other fights, too tough to call, so I would go with all the underdogs on the fights I didn’t mention and would more than likely end up up in the end as far as those fights go, cuz I see at least 2 upsets happeing.

by ViolentMike on Jun 12, 2009 2:50 PM EDT up reply actions

You know I wasn’t even gonna touch this card cause I lost $250.00 off 98 when it was all said and done, and my WEC picks didn’t fare much better either; but F*ck it; $150 on Wanderlei straight money; I still got faith in the Axe Murderer.

My wife thinks Wanderlei is going to murder Rich. She only watches a few PPV’s a year but always hears about whats going on because I tell her, LOL.

Her favorites are:
Hughes
Tito
Nick Diaz
Hendo

I know, I only agree with Diaz and Hendo as well. I am still a fan of Hughes since I’ve always been, but he hasn’t been a favorite of mine for years now.

ugh i have no love for her picks..i like diaz when he is not talking..i can’t stand tito..hughes is a bible thumping d*ck (yes a champion that did a lot for the sport) hendo is ok with me..i agree with your take on hughes..you can respect his past that’s about it..

Lol, read this on the UFC web site:

Wanderlei:"I want to bet $50,000 on myself, and I want to know from him (Anderson), and from his managers (Ed Soares and Jorge Guimaraes) if they want to bet on their fighter (Franklin)," he said. "We open a bank account and we put $100,000 there, $50,000 from me and $50,000 from them. Winner takes all. "I want to know his (Anderson) reply. If he will say "yes", great; if he says "no", I need to find another person to bet with me. If there is anyone to bet, I bet on myself. This is not arrogance, I am confident in myself and in my coaches. I want to bet on myself."

by Dave on Jun 12, 2009 10:25 AM EDT reply actions

Yeah, I thought that too, I want Hardy to win (I’m English so have a bias, never understood all that “I’m Irish” crap from American’s who’ve lived in America for 5 generations anyway ;p) – But Davis does look like he means business this time! Of course too much aggression can be your downfall though…

by RichT on Jun 13, 2009 3:18 AM EDT up reply actions

I doubt anderson put the money up. He will need it for hospital bills after he gets KO’d out by Forrest. I am just kidding but i am a 100% forest fan i love his fights. I do expect forest to out point silva. then it can be silva vs silva for the gold. Does anyone think that even thou wanderlei was promised a shot at the belt with a win they might match him with the winner of hendo/bisbing? I mean henderson with the winner or that match getting a shot?

by Ralphie on Jun 12, 2009 10:36 AM EDT reply actions

Tough to say, I think there’s some real $$ in a Hendo vs Wandi rubber match, but I’m not really interested in watching Bisping vs Wandi, I like Bisping as well, but lets be real; Bisping would look like Kalib Starnes in that fight.

Does anybody know if Kongo cuts weight? I know he’s heavy weight and there really no need to, but I’ve never seen anybody look as big as him and yet weigh so little. He towers over most of his opponents, and he’s thick, which is why at every weigh-in i have to do a double take at his weight. . 230!?!?. blows me away. . .
