i gotta go with rich by ko before the second but as we saw rich can be bull rushed. hendo got in close and rocked the hell out of rich in the first. wandy has a better chance at winning by ko than hendo did but if wandy gets in position where rich gets rocked hes gunna finish him.

i like franklin in this fight as well~ but not by ko i pick a decision win.
im a huge fan of wand, and its hard to admit but i think franklin has him out pointed in the stand-up game..
and we all know this fight is staying on the feet~
franklin is one of the most under rated fighters out there..
im sure he has all the tools to take on wand..but if someones getting ko’ed, it will be ace..
wand still has a great chance to win, and i think it will end up being close~ i just feel that rich will get the win~
who knows?~ either way this is going to be a great fight, no doubt!
i wont bet on it~ thats for sure..

This fight is going to basically consist of a bunch of punches and a few kicks mixed in. With that said, wanderlei has both the speed and power advantage over Rich in the HANDS….which will prove to be too much for Rich to overcome.
Rich wont make it out of round 2!

i dont know john~
i think this fight will be alot closer then peeps think..
anywho~[grapevine rumor]
im hearing affliction wants diaz/riggs’2 for the trilogy~
but strikeforce ?might? try and hook up the fight in aug..
im just sayin?

Afflictions done enough favours for SF, the least they could do is loan Diaz and Riggs out to Attencio for an Affliction show.

Also rumour of Gomi vs Brett Cooper at 165 for Affliction 3.
by Alpha Male 360 on Jun 11, 2009 10:18 AM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
I will be happy to watch Diaz fight anyone, in any organization!
Affliction 3 is going to be bad ass!
stink, I dont expect it to be a blowout…it will be a close fight, but within the 1st 10 minutes….Rich is going to get Rocked, and when wandy gets you ROCKED, his killer instinct takes over, and he will FINISH Rich!
by john on Jun 11, 2009 10:24 AM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
Riggs broke both of his hands though. Doubt he will be ready by Trilogy

Fight Announcement***
Affliction 3:
Takanori Gomi vs. Bret Cooper, have been agreed upon by both fighters..THey are just ironing out the financial details
Affliction isnt messing around!
by john on Jun 11, 2009 10:28 AM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
I hear that the fight is being negotiated at 165 lbs…because Cooper is a welterweight.
by john on Jun 11, 2009 10:29 AM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
THey should have booked Gomi vs. Diaz 2!!!!!!!!!
by john on Jun 11, 2009 10:29 AM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
Brett Cooper is pretty sweet. Bas Rutten made me a fan. Always refers to him as “Animal” from the Muppets.
As for Diaz vs Riggs, F THAT. Diaz should be focusing on the future, not his past. If Shields is beyond fighting Riggs, so is Diaz.

Gomi is too small for 170,john!Plus i’m not sure that he would like to be embarrassed again in the US!

John,
Wandy has a definite chance, but my money is on Rich. And my money has only be wrong once in the past 20 months. And that was a fight i admitted to being unsure of beforehand (Rua v Chuck).
Rich is the rightful favorite. Angles, circling….it’s the geometry that will cause problems for Wandy. I don’t think you can bum rush Rich.
by Punch You in the Ovaries on Jun 11, 2009 1:28 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
Hell yea you can bum rush Rich; I think thats the best way to get after him; I don’t doubt that he’ll back peddle and stick and move for the first rd, but the whole fight?? It’s just not Rich’s style; he’s going to plant his feet at some point stay in the pocket and trade and thats the beginning of the end imo.

going Franklin UD Bolth these guys are to tough and not sure franklin can pull of the left that will put silva down for good, but anything can happen…

So I guess there’s no 3 PM showing for this one? Wandy looks really old and I fear another Rampage type loss is coming. Good solid card, I thought about skipping this one but what if Wandy has one more sick ko highlight left?
by Robert(1) on Jun 11, 2009 8:12 AM EDT reply actions 0 recs
Oh he does…. he’ll fall as good as he ever has.
I have it in my head Rich has done something to piss Dana off…. Dana has him fighting all over the place so I think he is trying to make it easier for Rich’s competition.
I don’t see it working here. Rich is younger and faster with very good technical skills. Wandi brings it every fight and I love to watch him but his career is on the downswing and his hang-and-bang style ’till someone hits the mat is not helping him prolong his career.
by DJ on Jun 11, 2009 8:26 AM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
Franklin is 35 and Wandy is only 33 so Rich isn’t younger and he certainly isn’t faster than Wandy. Rich’s striking is fairly slow but he throws solid combos and he uses everything in his toolbox. Wandy is still going to swing for the fences at Rich’s head and one of them is going to connect and it’s going to hurt Rich bad. Then Silva is going to give him an old fashioned working over via his monster clinch and feed him knees until Rich buckles.
by Buster Bluth on Jun 11, 2009 9:23 AM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
Yeah, I see it the same way that Buster does. Not only will silva have speed on his side, but he will also have the power advantage! I dont think Rich is good enough to win a stand up war against a man so aggressive as wanderelie that will have the luxury of having both a speed and power advantage in his hands. I dont see how rich can overcome that.
Rich is going to get ROCKED, then wandy will slap the muy tai plum on rich and as soon as the tai clinch is locked on around Rich’s head, thats when all the flashbacks will start, Rich will break mentally, Panic and “eat KNEES TIL HE BUCKLES”
Hope he brought his plastic surgeon along with him to Germany!

I also see it going down like that. I knew their ages, but it’s hard to believe that ace is older. Wandy seems like hes been around for ever and a lot of people keep trying to push him into retirement, which I don’t understand? He does have a lot of miles on him, but he think he has a lot more to go imo. It’s a tough one to call, but with the odds I have to go with Wandy. Plus what John said is right, Wandy has the speed and power. I can’t see Ace going three rounds and not getting caught.
by BOW on Jun 11, 2009 9:58 AM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
Funny, I never checked, just assumed as Wandi looks older! He has lead a more weathered life perhaps??? lol..
by DJ on Jun 11, 2009 10:55 AM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
I am in the minority here, in that I am not ruling out the possibility of Rich winning by KO. I’m not saying its the most likely outcome, but it is more than possible.
I can see Franklin winning by decision or TKO/KO
and I can only see Wanderlei winning by KO/TKO
Rich will do better on the scorecards with his technical striking but it only takes one punch from Silva to put you on queer street and then he goes all Axe Murderer from that point and gets the job done.
I am actually surprised that the odds aren’t a little closer for this fight.
by ViolentMike on Jun 11, 2009 10:56 AM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
I was to Mike, which is why I had to take Wandy.
by BOW on Jun 11, 2009 11:38 AM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
Rich is getting dropped; I like Ace and all, but he’s not taking this fight. 8-14 days training with A. Silva is not a big deal and it’s not going to change his game that much. Seriously; how much are you gonna take with you/change your style in 8-14 days of training?? Franklin is not KO’ing Wanderlei, the last time he KO’d someone was 4 years ago; get off the drugs people the only way Rich wins is by decision. Wanderlei is going to SAVAGE him, Rich is going to move, use his left kick and his jab but eventually either he’s going to wind up with his back against the cage or he’s going to stay in the pocket and try to trade at which point he’s eating canvas. Sorry Franklin fans; your boy isn’t making it out of rd 2.
WAR WANDERLEI!
by O damn he got caught on Jun 11, 2009 8:34 AM EDT reply actions 0 recs
damn right hommie! LIke u said, 8 days with Anderson isnt going to mean anything! Especially since its been ages since wanderlei and Anderson trained together, and I am sure that wandy and Anderson have improved a ton since the last time they sparred. So how valuable can Anderson possibly be to Rich? My guess, is not much!
I also agree that Rich wont see round 3!
This is going to be a striking war. I dont see Rich getting trhe better of the stand up, considering the fact that Wandy will have both speed and power on his side.
by john on Jun 11, 2009 9:48 AM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
It’s going to be a great fight; but imo we’re talkin about a guy in Wanderlei Silva, who’s fought his entire carreer at 205 lbs and 2/3’s of his wins are by KO in a weight class he probably never really belonged in in the first place. AND he TKO’s Fujita a HW fighter with a thicker skull than what is normal for any person to have. Then you got Rich, who isn’t even KOing 185ers. You’re right John, HUGE KO power advantage to Wanderlei.
Doesn’t it seem like Dana White is blowing the whole Rich training with A. Silva thing WAY out of proportion to drum up some hype between a Silva vs Silva title fight? Seems pretty obvious who the UFC would like to win this match up. Poor Rich; he’s like an unwanted orphan or something, really seems like he’s getting the shaft lately.
I will say this, after the Leben vs A. Silva fight it seems like no one wants to get after him and try to beat him up. I agree %100 w/ Wanderlei on this, these guys are trying to win a technical striking match against a guy who’s one of the best if not the best technical striker in the game; better to go in swinging, try to put him up against the cage and clip him imo. I would LOVE to see a Wand vs A. Silva match up; Wandi is probably one of the only fighters out there who isn’t going to get beat mentally before he steps into the cage. He ain’t afraid of Silva; how many other guys out there you hear in an interview saying “GIVE ME ANDERSON SILVA!” ?

first time I have a bad feeling in the last couple of weeks about Wanderlei. This has devastating KO written all over it and I ain’t talking sleeping ‘Aces’ here.
Wanderlei looks really old. But will be rooting for Wanderlei..BIG TIME…in the arena on Saturday
