someone getting knocked out

by Mike on Jun 11, 2009 2:39 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

$10 says Rogan calls Wandy vicious and a Monster; and Rich a complete fighter, a very technical striker with a very underrated ground game during the walk to the cage on fight night…

At which point Goldie will say: You know Joe, Wanderli is just sooo explosive. He can end the fight at any second.

by Cole on Jun 11, 2009 3:08 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

don’t forget,

Goldie,

“There is no one sitting down” when almost everyone is, well……sitting down.

And GOldie, give up the “Former Pride Middleweight Champion” Cripes it was eons ago.

I used to be the Former diaper crapping Slovak at 6 months old.

Forgot that at some point Rogan will look over at Goldie shake his head (while speaking about Wandy) and say: “That dude is an animal…”

LOL

by Cole on Jun 11, 2009 3:31 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

well isn’t there only so many things these guys can come up with..rogan always looks so rough, he stays up eating fruit loops too much..i’ve said it before but his eyes are like two piss holes in a snow bank..announcers always repeat themselves so ya can’t roast em too bad..that goes for all sports really..

by sarah on Jun 11, 2009 4:04 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

We have to hold them to higher standards still. Goldie plan sucks. He’s supposed to be a play by play guy but he spends most of his time spewing idiotic things and parroting one technical piece of analysis rogan pointed out long ago. That or sucking captain paycheck’s nuts or yammering on about Bonnar-Griffin I even if it’s a stricktly ground fight. Rogan is very skewed towards the ground game so when the fight is in the standup it’s like canned material. He may not realize it but he’s just says the same thing over and over instead of noticing the subtle changes like a florian or mir would.

I like Rogan, and his grappling knowledge is impressive, but some of the shit he says is unacceptable for a professional broadcaster, and dumbs down the sport a bit. It would be funny if he was hanging out with his buddies, but seems low-brow and juvenile on-air.

OK, now that I’ve got age of these two straight (lol… thanks fellow maniacs), I am picking Rich by UD.

Just noticed that the Cotto/Clottey fight is live on HBO while 99 is on. I’ll be recording that.

99 will be a replay at 9 pm so catch it earlier around 3 pm.

I have to see it at night to really get into it. Get the beer flowing, the fatties rolled, the food ready and the buddies over. I can’t get in to daytime sportscasts except Sunday football.

When the main event starts, have a shot of liquor every time you hear the words “dangerous” and “Silva” in the same sentence. You will be too fucked up to remember what happens.

McFedries has been kicked out of MFS for his comments after his UFC 98 win.

As an aside, I think it’s a shame Professor-X got cut after that loss… he looked like a fast and exciting striker.

by Jeremyjackson on Jun 11, 2009 4:45 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

? What the hell did he say

by O damn he got caught on Jun 11, 2009 4:47 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

He said none of his teammates supported him for that fight, and he brought his buddy to corner him instead.

by Jeremyjackson on Jun 11, 2009 4:48 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

O yea, now I remember that; good for him, he can go train elsewhere if they aren’t going to look out for him, it obviously helped this time around cause didn’t he end up training with another camp for this fight?

MFS loss imo, the guys got great hands, it can only help another camp having a guy like Drew in there to throw leather with.

by O damn he got caught on Jun 11, 2009 4:53 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Sigh Matt Hughes is the greatest fighter, friend, mentor and coach a guy could ever have, and I’m lucky he allows me to share his air. Now can I come back to MFS please?

by PW on Jun 11, 2009 5:15 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

I dont think it helps anyone if the guy you are working with is trying to knock you out while sparring. They probably finally got fed up with his style of training.

by NorthStar on Jun 11, 2009 5:19 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Could be true; but people get dropped all the time in training, the only way to train for a real fight is to fight, hell Cowboy broke Leonard Garcia’s jaw during training with a flying knee. It’s a rough sport, I’d rather be prepared for the worst than have my training partners taking it easy on me.

by O damn he got caught on Jun 11, 2009 5:35 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

That’s true OD, but you don’t want guys intentionally KO’ing you in training either. Train hard, but with some restraint. Go all-out with 16-ouncers, full headgear and shin and body pads.

If you get injured you can’t put food on the table, and too many cracks in the egg and it’s scrambled. No sense making it easier for a guy to switch your shit off in a real fight.

by Jeremyjackson on Jun 11, 2009 5:40 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Tell that to chute box JJ!

by john on Jun 11, 2009 6:09 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

I know… I think it’s taken it’s toll on some of those guys too.

agreed!

by john on Jun 12, 2009 7:25 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

I think McFeddries could have used emotional support, he was running through a rough time in his life. It just goes to show you how having a few good people behind you can get you through the rough times.

At least we don’t have to listen to ring announcer Jimmy Lennon Jr. His voice is so annoying, I have to turn the volume down when he introduces the fighters in the ring.
Why anyone pays him to be a ring announcer is beyond me.
Personally, I like listening to Goldberg and Rogan.

by DrPepper on Jun 11, 2009 11:17 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

I think Rogan’s “Goats Vagina” comment about the cut on Marvin Eastman’s head elevated him above all other commentators in my opinion :D Legendary.

by Jimrod on Jun 12, 2009 5:22 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

I think that wand is going to take this one. He is very hungry right now to get to anderson and I think that he is going to bull doze his way through rich to get to him. I do not think this fight will go to a decision. however if it does I see Ace with his hand raised. I am predicting wand tko round 2.

by Winner by Strikes!! on Jun 11, 2009 2:49 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Without ever looking at the stats, i figured Rich would have a height advantage. Does not appear to be the case. As certain as I have been that i would not order this card, i think I am going to.

by James S on Jun 11, 2009 2:51 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

Tellin you guys, Rich doesn’t have the tools to do this; he don’t have the Rampage KO power, and he’s technical but not technical enough. Wand KO rd 2

by O damn he got caught on Jun 11, 2009 2:54 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

You got that right O damn. Rich is getting hurt. Wandy is hungry and a lot of people are underestimating him. I really think he has several good fights left in him.

by Adam T. on Jun 11, 2009 2:57 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

big fan of Rich AND Wand but for the sake of Anderson/Wand I’m pullin’ for Wand

by McArthur on Jun 11, 2009 2:57 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

I agree odamn, but lets make it a first round ko. This way Wandy comes out of the fight healthy enough so I can see him @ 101!!!

by BOW on Jun 11, 2009 3:01 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

If Wand fights smart(er) he will KO Rich. Rich is a great guy but I can’t root against the consummate warrior, especially when the prospect of Silva-on-Silva crime hangs in the balance.

Oh, and there is no way in hell that Wanderlei will fight at 101, whatever happens. Dana already has two huge fights on that card and he’s not going to toss a PPV draw like Wand on a loaded event. The days of Pride Shockwave cards are over, sadly enough.

by Jeremyjackson on Jun 11, 2009 3:14 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

ah…Shockwave 2005 and 2006 are some of the best card ever!

by Alpha Male 360 on Jun 11, 2009 3:23 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

absolutely ALPHA!~

by john on Jun 11, 2009 6:10 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

I’ve decided there’s no number of times I can say “I told you so” that will ever make people take my picks more seriously. Rich hasn’t been defeated by anyone other than the best P4P fighter in the world in eons. (Note: in my world, he beat Dan H.) Dan didn’t knock him out. Wandy won’t either.

Just don’t put too much money on Wandy.

Oh and earlier we were discussing if Rich can be bum rushed. You said at some point Rich will decide to stay in the pocket and trade. That’s different than getting bum rushed. I think Rich is non-bum-rushable.

I think Rich will finish Wandy by the second.

by Punch You in the Ovaries on Jun 11, 2009 5:16 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Yeah, but besides Anderson he wasn’t fighting elite guys. Okami is good, but not great. Lutter was winning until his patented early-2nd-round gas-out. That guy couldn’t jog a mile. The 185 division was weak as hell when Rich was running it.

Don’t get me wrong, Rich is a very good fighter, well-rounded and in fantastic shape. His kicks looked great against Hamill. But Wanderlei is a bad match-up for him IMO.

by Jeremyjackson on Jun 11, 2009 5:45 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Yea thats another thing; Rich can usually rely on his cardio to tire a guy out and really push the pace. Good luck with that one against Wand; that guy doesn’t get tired; his cardio is off the damn chain!

by O damn he got caught on Jun 11, 2009 5:58 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Crazy talk, the only way to finish Wand is to shut him down completely; he’s going to have to knock him unconscious cause anything short of that is only going to temporarily slow him down. And like I said before any Franklin stoppage you’ve seen after his Quarry KO has been a TKO stoppage. Wand is not going to throw it in like Jason McDonald and he definatley isn’t going to double over from kicks to the ribs like Matt Hamil. If Cro Cop couldn’t put him down with kicks to the mid section Franklin isn’t going to.

I think Rich can win, but his only chance is to survive 3 rds without getting clipped on his way to a decision; I don’t know why people are thinking he’s going to finish Wand! Also; watch the Hendo fight; neither of them looked all that great, if that fight is any indication of how Rich will look in this fight then I’d pick Wand to win this thing all day every day!

by O damn he got caught on Jun 11, 2009 5:56 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

wand can get beaten to a pulp and them boom..he can pull it out his ass and win..that is what is crazy about him..it looks like and even on the score card he could be losing..but leave him conscious and you are looking for trouble..
i think rich can win..he just has to not get KO’d..not as easy as it seems..but either way..i want an exciting WAR!!

by sarah on Jun 11, 2009 11:37 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

I like Wand, but he’s too dumb to beat Rich. His style of bull rushing doesn’t work in modern MMA. He will get brutally knocked out again. At this point, Wand’s knockout switch is like the “Clapper.” You don’t even need to hit him and he will get KTFO. “Clap on, Clap off…Wand getting KTFO!”

Loads to gain for the winner… the loser is pretty much screwed. Rich will take it, can see him getting in trouble before finishing Wandy. Rich makes most fighters he faces (with a couple of obvious exceptions) look average, he will do the same at UFC 99.

I’m a fan of both of these fighters for their character as well as their fighting skills. I’m not sure how the weight class jump/drop for these guys will affect the fight but I could see this going either way. Having said that, I agree with the first post, someone is getting knocked out.

by Greggo on Jun 11, 2009 3:22 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

there is already enough weight divisions with the five that exist,no need to turn into boxing and have 10 different weight classes.
BTW I’m not really sure how many weight classes there are in bixing 10 was just a guess.
Ace by tKO

by the Levi on Jun 11, 2009 3:34 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

i like the idea of a 190-195 weight class, there is a big jump from MW to LH,, where there is not as big a jump from WW to MW, so it would be easier to mix it up a bit more as fighters wont have to cut or gain loads and maybe end up gassing etc,

anyways i got
wandy ko
chicky chicky kongo tko
hardy tko
swick ko

and im just throwing this out there but i think al turk will beat cro cop in a split

Swick TKO

Franklin TKO rd. 2
Kongo UD
Swick TKO rd. 2
Davis TKO rd. 3
Fisher SPLIT
Cro Cop TKO rd. 1

I hope these predictions are right. We might get to see the whole card.

is rich growing out the mullet?

by COR on Jun 11, 2009 6:29 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

hahaha hed have been like 5 so i think there will be a drastic change!!

I also think wandi takes it, rich imo has been beaten by any guy that has been world class and his wins have come against basic mid division fighters (hammil, quarry, mcdonald….). I do think he is slightly more technical but he doesnt have that true ko power needed and lets face it, the rampage ko was on thee button!! Thatv ko’s anyone!! Plus i thin wandi will be able to get rich in the clinch in this fight, and training with anderson is not the same as the wandi clinch just ask mr.rampage (i know he hast fought anderson)

I too think a 195 division would be good, there are loads of fighters that it would suite, wandi, rich, dan hendo, bisping, anderson….hell even chuck could cut some weight!! The only thing is that these guys can make other weight divisions easily so is there enough to justify a full weight class????

Rogan and Goldy are good at what they do, upbeat and exciting!! There is nothing worse than a droaning voice throughout a fight…some people will never be satisfied!! I for one think the ufc is quality and wouldnt change a thing!!!!!

seemingly good news for uk fans, as the bbc have stated, "Setanta, the Irish sports pay channel, is in talks with a new investor which could prevent the company going into administration, the BBC understands.

The board of Setanta will meet on Friday and a deal could be finalised in the next 72 hours, says BBC Sports Editor Mihir Bose." Lets hope this goes through, I dont want to go back to the bravo days!!!

by mo on Jun 11, 2009 7:16 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

I liked the Bravo days as I didn’t have to pay a year subscription to f***ing Setanta to watch it… Seriously that company is so dodgy, mate tried to pay to watch one fight and spent the next week trying to get out of the 12 month contract they tied him into.
