Dude surfs the internet at work. I’m sure ATT loved to hear that. I know we all do it, but some things are better left un-said. Brown vs. Aldo should be a good one.

he works the front desk at a gym BM. I’m sure they know he’s surfing the internet and don’t care.

Good looking out. I really need to stay of the booze, because ATT never crossed my mind that it was American Top team. I thought it was the freakin phone company. Oh well, next rounds on me.
Cheers

LOL to the above. Brown seems like a grounded, humble guy.

I couldn’t tell from the interview…does he have to work or does he just do it to kill time? Does anyone know how much he made in each of his title defenses?
by BeerMan on Jun 8, 2009 11:49 AM EDT reply actions
I’m pretty sure that he doesn’t have to work one day a week at the front desk of ATT answering phones and faxing paperwork. It’s all about the atmosphere and the guys that you are around and help you get where you are. That’s what it’s about. When you love something you like being around it as much as possible. Also to BeerMan, I don’t think ATT gives a shit if the best 145lb figher in the world wants to surf the internet while watching the phone. You cracked me up with that remark. I hope that wasn’t a serious comment.
by Adam T. on Jun 8, 2009 12:00 PM EDT up reply actions
Ya he said he does it just to help out the gym and earn a little pocket change when he’s not training.
And I have to agree with Adam T. here, I dont think ATT gives a shit what he does when he’s watching the phones.
by WB on Jun 8, 2009 12:24 PM EDT up reply actions
The drunk BeerMan thought that it was the phone company. And I bet no ATT staff or crew would like to tell Brown about his internet surfin’ unless they would like to get punched in the face. hehe!

There’s only one thing i don’t like about 145lbs fights- WEC needs more fighters, its sad that Brown beat faber to get the title and the first person he has to defend it against is faber… don’t get me wrong they are exciting fighters just they really need to start searching for other fighters at 145 and under- same goes for migel Torres, he needs to move up whats the point of staying at 135 when their isn’t anyone else to challenge u??
by ricky on Jun 8, 2009 12:24 PM EDT up reply actions
I think you missed a chapter.
Leonard Garcia?
I don’t think Brown would have won last night if Faber didn’t break his hand.
by KS on Jun 8, 2009 12:31 PM EDT up reply actions
You missed his last fight then. It’s his 2nd title def!
by BOW on Jun 8, 2009 12:32 PM EDT up reply actions
A lot of fighters fight with a broken hand. Deal with the pain and still punch! It’s that simple
by BOW on Jun 8, 2009 12:35 PM EDT up reply actions
Never broke my hand before; but kinda wondering, in that situation, with the wraps/gloves on tight, wouldn’t it numb up pretty good after 10-15 mins?
by O damn he got caught on Jun 8, 2009 12:44 PM EDT up reply actions
all fighters fight hurt sometimes, but I do think Uriah’s injury did affect the outcome, for several reasons, but I will point out one .He had Mike Brown in a bad spot when he put him in that choke hold I believe in the 5th round if his hand would not have been hurt it would have been early, you clearly see Mike start to flop and Uriah had to let go
by scott on Jun 8, 2009 1:08 PM EDT up reply actions
Broke my hands plenty of times its numb at first but eventually keeps gettin worse and worse especially if you are still punching
by joejoe on Jun 8, 2009 1:15 PM EDT up reply actions
Keyboad warrior? That’s fn orriginal. I have broken my hand worse than that and still finished the fight. And that had nothing to do with a carrer in the sport! Get a clue bro. Plenty of fighters fight with broken hands and yet still throw punches, I would think King John would know that???

Alpha – nice posting results from Mundials. Sick business as usual. I knew it this year- Didn’t i say that Alliance was gonna run train on everyone this time. Good to see Marcelo get back to top after the shameful white belt business at World Cup. Sad that leo leite couldn’t compete but still high level all the way. Also check out the Gabriella chick from Alliance on youtube, she’s like HMC.
by NameNotRequired on Jun 8, 2009 6:19 PM EDT up reply actions
It depends how badly the hand is broken and where it’s broken and how quickly it swells up.
Sometimes you can use it for a while in the heat of the adrenaline rush, and sometimes you most certainly can’t.
I broke my hand on the knuckle once in a street fight as a teenager, and barely felt it and kept fighting. I broke it in the middle of the hand in an amateur kickboxing match a few years ago and it was excruciating and instantly useless. Couldn’t ball a fist within one minute, and totally out of the question to punch with it. I rode out the last two rounds but it sucked.
As an aside, if Aldo is next for Brown and Faber’s on the shelf, who’s next for Fabiano? Garcia?
by Jeremyjackson on Jun 8, 2009 10:48 PM EDT up reply actions
NNR
Yep,good for Alliance and GB UK for their golds!
Wow,that Gabriella is a biiiig woman! How,can she move quick enough to be that good??
What about those blue belt from Toronto BJJ.I never heard of them. Can you tell me how good they are?
And speaking of blue belt…that kid Murilo Lima Tavares seems to be a guy to look for in the future!
Also what happen of the Camarillo’s brothers.Did,they still compete?
by Alpha Male 360 on Jun 9, 2009 6:12 AM EDT up reply actions
Yea what did i tell you about here. It’s freaky. She was alliance’s secret weapon to dominate but didn’t work out. My instructor told me that Camarillo took 12 guys but i am guessing they didn’t do that great. As for themselves, i don’t think dan and dave compete anymore. He himself didn’t go even though he’s part of his team. Don’t know much about the canadian kids but you’re right about Tavares. What about Maxwell, only freakin 19 and doing big things at brown. Also behind Garcia was Sergio Moraes (gave Kron his first loss at black). Look out for him in Bellator soon. He’s become part of the training exchange between chute boxe and alliance. I’ve got really high hopes for him. If you watch the budo video on youtube, i don’t think it’s possible not to be fan. Just really humble and nice guy with a ton of heart.
by NameNotRequired on Jun 9, 2009 5:59 PM EDT up reply actions
What the fuck does that mean? I have broken my hand worse than that and still finished off a guy and that was just for fun back in the day. No keyboard warrior here
by BOW on Jun 8, 2009 12:42 PM EDT reply actions
yeah and you kept fighting for 20 more minutes too, right. It is alot easier to sit behind a keyboard and critize a fighter.Alot of people have kept fighting after they break their hand,I completly screwed my hand up doing it ,and my hand has not been right since, but you still have to give Urijah credit,we have seen professional fighters quit for less than that.
by scott on Jun 8, 2009 2:28 PM EDT up reply actions
True that, but he didnt use that hand at all. He could have suprised Brown with a looping rt hand towards the end of the fight. He never would have expected it. Not after three rounds of not using it at all. Forrest, who I am not a fan of, had no problems doing it when he fought page. I think it was that fight. And he won that fight, well I don’t think he did, but the judges did.
by BOW on Jun 8, 2009 2:52 PM EDT up reply actions
I have never seen, or I simply can’t recall a fighter throwing a punch, then falling to the ground to tap out do the pain. Nor do I recall a fighter quitting on the stool between rounds due to a broken hand. A broken hand is something that proffessional fighters must deal with. When you punch people in the head for a living, occasionally, your hand will break.
I still wonder how bad his left hand is because he must have injured that one as well because he was only throwing right/left elbows and he was open hand b*tch slapping Brown with his left. Does a slap earn you as much points with the judges as a punch?
by ViolentMike on Jun 8, 2009 3:47 PM EDT up reply actions
he supposedly broke both, you are right about people quitting due to hand injury, but we have seen plenty of people are just tired of getting whipped ala BJ for an example, all I am saying is he showed heart to keep trying with two messed up hands ,and how can anyone expect him to win with no hands ,what is he Kyle Maynard ,I am being sarcastic
by scott on Jun 8, 2009 6:20 PM EDT up reply actions
The most classless thing Faber did was (watch the video) as they made the announced Brown the winner, Faber shakes his right broken hand and then points to it.
A classless narcissist all the way Faber, trying to overshadow your opponents win is classless whether you though you could of won or not.
by kibbled_bits on Jun 8, 2009 12:42 PM EDT reply actions
I’d have to agree with you, he kept showing his hand to his corner during the fight so the crowd WOULD KNOW, and then that b.s. at the announcement as you pointed out. Faber looked like he was nervous to lose all last night. He should have pretended like it never happened and waited til someone asked him about it, THEN DOWN PLAYED IT. Total narcissist. F*cking granola boy.
by WDC on Jun 8, 2009 2:56 PM EDT up reply actions
You serious? He’s trying to applaud Brown’s victory but using his forearm since he’s obviously in considerable pain. Both guys are classy and respectful fighters, no need to create conflict where there wasn’t any.

Fabers nuthuggers makes me laugh everytime.
by Green Inferno on Jun 8, 2009 1:23 PM EDT reply actions
I hope you were not calling me a nuthugger,Because I was telling the truth,I was not pulling for either one of them,I actually picked Mike Brown to win.Who is actually a big Urijah fan,I personally do not know any except girls
by scott on Jun 8, 2009 1:33 PM EDT up reply actions
I never noticed it before but now that You mention it, it does seem like all the Urijah fans I know of are girls.

I like watching him because he’s a creative and unorthodox fighter, not because he’s dreamy.

my favorite park was all the boooo’s when Brown was coming out, but once simple man started playing they all just shut up and started singing. lol behold the power of skynard!!!

for sure man he was gettin booed before he even came out and than simple man played and the audience just kinda went quiet. damn goood song

Brown is just a beast. I don’t think it really takes much from faber. would like to see ‘em fight again, I think Faber has the tools to pull it off. Now we’ll just see him start from the back again.
by Jon on Jun 8, 2009 1:31 PM EDT reply actions
That guy is tough. Great fight by both guys. It’s a sahme Faber broke his hand, but I’m sure we will see them go one more time. It was funny to hear K-Flo say he liked to watch the little guys go at it. Those little guys could probably whip his ass.
by Nik on Jun 8, 2009 1:58 PM EDT reply actions
Don’t think so. KenFlo is the real deal and he is a BIG BOY at 155.
by Adam T. on Jun 8, 2009 2:09 PM EDT up reply actions
Ya Nik, I totally disagree – KenFlo is the legit #1 contender at 155 and as a general rule of thumb, bigger guys have an advantage.
Damn Adam, stealing all my things I’m gonna say – might actually have to work today…

I know. I think Kenny would take Faber and Brown pretty easy right now. He (Florian) is one of the most improved fighters in the last year and is pretty much deadly at this point. Those elbows are ruthless. I was just very impressed by Mike Brown last night. I wonder what he would look like with ten more pounds on him and another year under his belt.
