Bellator X results: Soto wins gold; Reis escapes with a win ... barely
Bellator X from the Citizens Business Bank Arena in Ontario, Calif., is in the books after and action-packed night (June 5) of mixed martial arts.
It was an historic evening for the promotion, which crowned its first-ever featherweight world champion, Joe Soto. "The Hammer" lived up to his nickname, brutalizing Yahir Reyes with a ground and pound assault for a majority of the first two rounds.
Soto appeared to punch himself out, but had enough gas left in the tank to finish Reyes near the end of the second frame with a rear naked choke. Soto -- who handed Brazilian jiu-jitsu ace and world-ranked Wilson Reis his first-ever loss to advance to the finals of the tournament -- earned $100,000 for his performance in addition to his shiny new belt.
Reis also competed last night, looking to move on from the semifinal loss to Soto when he took on Roberto Vargas in a featured fight of the night. He was able to eke out a split decision victory, but the pre tournament favorite did not look anything like the world beater he was while competing under the Elite XC banner.
Check out the complete Bellator X results below:
Joe Soto defeats Yahir Reyes via submission (rear naked choke) in round two to become the first-ever Bellator featherweight champion
Wilson Reis defeats Roberto Vargas via split decision
Bryan Baker defeats Matt Horwich via unanimous decision
Diego Garijo defeats Saad Awad via submission (rear naked choke) in round one
Israel Giron defeats Phil Brown via submission (rear naked choke) in round one
Mychal Clark defeats Travis Browne via unanimous decision
Jesse Juarez defeats Mike Gomez via unanimous decision
Nick Moghaddam defeats Lamar Jiles via disqualification (illegal knee) in round two
Next week, Bellator will crown another champion with the conclusion of its welterweight tournament at the Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Conn., on June 12. American Lyman Good will collide with Omar De La Cruz of the Dominican Republic to determine the 170-pound victor in the main Bellator XI main event.
You definitely don’t want to miss that.

I like how they do the Roman numerals too, and not “Bellator 1, 2, 3”
