UFC Quick Quote: 'Rampage' Jackson reports for duty on the set of TUF 10

"I'm starting the first day at my new job. Hope my co-worker likes me! Haha ..."
-- Former UFC light heavyweight champion Quinton "Rampage" Jackson is today on the set of The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) 10 for the first day of filming the Spike TV-produced mixed martial arts reality series. Jackson caused quite a stir last week when he opted to coach opposite Rashad Evans rather than accept a title shot against new division champion Lyoto Machida later this year. He and Evans apparently have some unfinished business to take care, which began immediately after Jackson defeated Evans' training partner, Keith Jardine, back in March. So will Jackson's big gamble pay off like he expects it to or did he shoot himself in the foot by passing on an opportunity to once again possibly become a world champion sooner rather than later?

I’m pissed. I have a rental house here in Albuquerque that I staged with decor items from my own home to get it sold. It was robbed! I was out of town and best I can tell it happened around three weeks ago. My wife is a painter and 13 of her best paintings were taken. Needless to say, I’m in the Dog House. Insurance won’t cover it. They said if it was a second home, it would be covered, but b/c it was advertised for rent, it’s not covered…sucks! I called pawn shops and one guy told me they have to report their inventory every friday and that the albuquerque police department cross references the items with their stolen item list. We filed a report yesterday, but I don’t count on anything turning up. The guy mention the flea market as a likely place to sell stolen items so I will be going to that Saturday. I called several staging companies to see if anyone had stolen from their staged homes and didn’t get anything useful. I’ve check Craigslist and ebay (sellers within 50 miles of me).
Any Ideas guys?
I wanted to unlock the doors and sleep there with my gun, but my wife nixed that idea.

Damn punch!I’m also sorry for you.
Most of the time when you get robbed,it’s someone that you know.I’m not necessarily saying someone in your entourage but someone in your neighborhood.
Go check around the your street you’ll probably come up with a suspect list.
Then i,would look for who’s the “boss”(Drug dealer) in your area.90% of the time it’s them who’s got your stuff.B/c little shitty robbers often are stealing for drug money.
If you had electronics or Jewelery in your house that’s the first place to look…not the pawn shop.
Unless the pawn owner is the,one responsible or is in connivance for the stealing in your area but this is rare case.
Don’t waste your time to stay there with your strap, they won’t comeback.Especially if it makes 3 weeks that this even as occur.
Now if you, only had arts in your house,i would say that it’s really rare to find back these, type of thing.B/c those who steel arts are not the usual robbers and, they got to have plugs to get rid of their(your)stuff! That’s why i toll you to look around your neighboor.People had to know that you weren’t there and for that, they must have check the house a few time before.
If that was complete random, robbers w/o any motive or drug problem(which is really rare) i’ll say keep doing what your doing right now! You,might have some luck and find it back. But i got to say, like O dam you’ll be better just cut your loss and move on.
Sorry to not being, very helpful but that’s what i,would do.It did happen to a few peoples that i know and 85% of the time we did find back the stuff.B/c robbers don’t have many place to go when, they got “hot stuff” to sell and,we are fortunate enough to know everyone “in charge”of those places in our city!
Keep up the good attitude though. You don’t want to go on rampage and make mistake that, would penalise you and your familly!

If you had homeowners’ insurance on that house it should be covered. Once you have tenants, then you contact your insurance carrier to convert from homeowners (which covers the house and your possessions) to a landlord policy (which covers just the house, while the tenants get a renters’ policy to cover their stuff.) If you had already converted to landlord coverage then you’re screwed.

Brutal stuff man, as far as the paintings- if i was you instead of the flea market, i would do the obvious and check small hippy/art places around and possibly 2nd hand stores- any one claim that they painted it themselves so they wouldn’t be hard to sell. There can’t be too many places where you can unload those materials unless they took them for the expensive frames. Good luck though.

Unfortunately, coverage for “Vacant” homes is usually excluded in the policy wordings (at least here in Canada). That said, depending on how long it was vacant (the exclusion sometimes doesn’t kick in until 30 days) and the attitude of your Broker or Insurer, you may still get lucky.
I feel for you man. Although, I’m definitely with your wife on nixing any plans involving your gun.

That is rough, sh!tty feeling getting robbed, I been robbed at gun point before and it just sucks. The only thing I would suggest is cut your loss’s and move on; the probability of the police turning up anything is remote. Not only did I get it back, but I got the guys name who robbed me…needless to say, I got my cash back too, and then some! This was back in my dark past! Thanks everyone for suggestions and sympthies. I did convert the policy to a landlord’s policy (fire policy) long ago.
PW,
I thought the personal property coverage on my homeowner’s might extend to my rental b/c that’s how it works with liability coverage, but nope. It sucks to pay insurance consistently for 10 years with no claims only to get denied when you actually need to file one.
Canuckle Head, you’re right. Insurance sucks.
Kevin,
A guy at a pawn shop claimed that thieves knew better than to go to Pawn shops now b/c the owners are supposed to report inventory, but who knows. Thanks for making me laugh with the Jose Conseco story.
Nick/Dragon/Ruanfly/Violent Mike/McArthur, John thanks for the support
O Damn, I suppose my situation is better than being robbed at gunpoint.
NNR,
I think I will check some of the thrift shops in the area. Thanks for the idea.
Ultimately, I’m not too upset over it. I told my wife, you can expect shitty things to happen at least once every year. So long as those shitty things aren’t cancer, death of family, rape, loss of child, etc, you have to count yourself lucky. The only real drive I have to catch the guy is a strong sense of justice. I just can’t stand when low lifes get away this kind of stuff.

Yeah, no help now, but if you had told them that someone was still residing in the home while it was listed they would have had to consider filing a claim. But your policy will state that they don’t cover personal property if it is in a vacant home. You may have a loophole if the home has only been vacant for 30 days or less. It sounds like they got you over a barrell though. I’m a licensed Ins adjuster in the state of TX, but most homeowner policies are similar.
I feel your pain though, I just got my New Ford F250 stolen in New Orleans, after installing a bunch of aftermarket equipment. It really pisses my off to think they got away with it. I feel for you, good luck man you never know it may turn up

blatant slap to the face of machida. Idiots at spike looking for ratings…
by j_orange on Jun 1, 2009 4:48 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs
I read that Machida declined the coaching spot. I’m sure his manager Ed Soares was having nothing with it. I don’t blame him. Machida can do his talking in the octagon and go down as one of, if not the greatest fighter of all time.
Regarding Rampage, although is it easy to criticize him as I have done relentlessly recently he is making a very smart move. He mentioned that he wanted the time to really heal up and most importantly work on his all around game. He made some very good comments about needing to become more well rounded and sharpen up certain aspects of his game. He said that he wanted to be like GSP. Some pretty cool and humble remarks from Page.
by Adam T. on Jun 1, 2009 5:21 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
Adam I agree with you but Rampage didn’t say that..he said he wanted revenge becuase Rashad got his in face and turned down a title shot for that reason…who would believe that? Considering these guys travel together and do photo shoots all time, how much can they really dislike one another?

AND if perhaps somehow Shogun wins, then Rampage might get his title shot AND revenge on Shogun all at once
by McArthur on Jun 1, 2009 4:59 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
What? Machida has already had 7 fights inside the Octagon and you think Rampage will benefit from seeing him in one more?
Rampage ducked the title fight and I think it’s going to come back to haunt him because I’m picking Rashad in this fight. I think he’s just a little quicker than Page and that will earn him the knockout.
Rampage is definitely a top 5 fighter, but I got Rashad and certainly Machida above him.
by Mahde on Jun 1, 2009 5:01 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
Study his style! He can study all day, everyday, for years and Rampage will not be able to beat Machida. Rampage fights to flat footed. Machida will pick him apart like Ali fighting Butterbean.
by DR on Jun 1, 2009 5:23 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
fights too flatfooted? give me a break, Rampage’s footwork is good, and him staying on his feets gives him alot more power than someone who is jumping around..

wouldnt matter if rampage trains 5 yrs straight for machida, still wouldnt figure him out. Its sad to hear rampage boast he will fight anyone, then find out he is a coward, who would decline a title shot when given a chance, just some bullshit excuse to fight rashad, who i think will run circles around rampage, what is rampage going to do if rashad beats him. might as well retire he will be irrevelant in the LHW division. Ramapage scared little girl, and a coward. fight machida if your so brave.

I hate to say this, but Reshad is winning this fight. Rampage is too dumb to beat Reshad. Rampage is like Bullrog from Street Fighter. He hits hard, but he’s one dimensional. Reshad will have a good game plan against him and beat his ass. Knock out in round 2 or unanimous decision in Reshad’s favor.
by E-Spaghetti on Jun 1, 2009 4:53 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs
you call Rampage dumb and you can’t even spell Rashad and you see it written everyday in blogs and posts. Evans may win but it surely won’t have anything to do with his IQ. All of you need to learn to use the spell check button before you call out someone else’s intelligence.

rampage 1 dimensional? you see him fight sakuraba or arona? 1 dimensional wouldn’t have gotten out of subs like he does, rampage is a wrestler with brutal power..
i guarantee rashad gets destroyed in this one he’s to small to play the rampage game, and it’s a new refocused meaner rampage then before he won the belt.. the new page will be champ again someday, he will be the only person that can hang with machida ever

rampage is way to one dimensional, he is way slower than rashad, his punches are like slow motion compared to rashad, has not lateral movement, cant throw kicks, or check them, has no BJJ. He doesnt even use wrestling anymore, even forrest had him on his back, rashad will destroy him. rampage hasnt evolved and he is dumb as dirt.
by dtoto on Jun 1, 2009 8:11 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
I have to agree with you. Machida may have made Rashad look bad, but I don not see Rampage doing the same thing. Rampage never changes his strategy he los to Forrest, had a good knockout of Wandy and had a mediocre win against Jardine. Quite a few people were talking about his ground game, but in his fight with Jardine there was nothing to be impressed about. I think that Rashad has more ways of winning this fight, but if he refuses to use his wrestling and his explosive takedowns like he did against Machida, then I say it will be a pretty even striking match. I am hoping his ego will not get the better of him and he does more than just try to outstrike Page, but I think it probably will. I am sure I remember John saying that Ramapge is light years ahead of Rashad I seriouly doubt that. Especially looking at the Forrest and Jardine matches, and this fight will definately prove it. Do I think that Ramapge is worried about Machida making him look bad, your damn right I do, beacause he most definately would. His coming forward fighting style is made for Machida. Rampage knows he would lose if he did not come up with a new fighting strategy. Maybe that is what he needs the extra time for.

Does anyone know who the asistant coaches are on Team Rashad????
I am very interested to see if Greg Jackson is going to be an “asistant” coach or not. My guess would be that he is too buisy for TUF and Rashad will be lucky if he has Winklejohn as his striking coach. I have a feeling that neither will be asistant coaches, but I am hoping they are. If its Team Jackson vs Team Wolfslair, I have a hunch that Team Jackson opens as the favorites (not knowing which fighters are on which team)

Talk about going out smelling like shit and coming BACK in smelling like a rose?? WOW. I am shocked that Rashad got the opportunity of a lifetime, AGAIN!!
INSTEAD of ending like Jon Fitch and MOST others that lose a title shot, that is going back into the middle of the mix and fighting and clawing back in while barely being recognized. NOW, he gets REWARDED for losing? WTF??? He knows the popularity he will gain, whether it is GOOD or BAD, in the long run it ends up as MORE money to Rashad. That is a nice gift, that NO OTHER fighter that loses a title shot will ever get.
Evens just got a really big gift. He could of VERY WELL ended up like Fitch, clawing JUST to get on the televised portion of a PPV and hardly being talked about, PERIOD!!!

Plus im still angry at him for not giving me a photo at the o2 arena!!
He has definately ducked Machida here, his priority should be the same as all guys and thats to get the belt, it is hardly a massive grudge match between them!! Hes bottled it!!
