'Such Great Heights:' Jon Fitch documentary film release coming soon

Former number one UFC welterweight contender Jon Fitch will be the focus of an upcoming documentary entitled, "Such Great Heights," which follows the Fort Wayne, Indiana, native during his training and preparation leading up to the Georges St. Pierre title fight at UFC 87: "Seek and Destroy" in August 2008.

The Flying Penguin-produced film also details the the story of several fighters who train out of American Kickboxing Academy (AKA) alongside Fitch in San Jose, California. No release date for "Such Great Heights" is known at this time; however, we should have more details very soon.

Fitch is currently in the midst of yet another camp, training to take on undefeated Brazilian Paulo Thiago at UFC 100 at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, Nevada, on July 11. He has won nine of 10 fights inside the Octagon since his promotional debut in 2005.

Not a fan of the title… but I would guess it is a good behind the scenes flick. Plus Fitch is a funny guy so it might help ease the pain of 5 gsp rounds.

Anyone who loves MMA should be a Fitch fan. The guy is a gamer and always delivers. Just my opinion, but I still have him as the #2 WW in the world. Alves is an animal, but I would still give the edge to Fitch behind GSP. Looking forward to checking out the flick.

I am looking forward to this flick. Fitch is easily a top 3 welterweight. but I would rank him behind Alves because I think if they rematched today, Alves would win that fight!

I would really like to someday see Fitch vs. Jake Sheilds!

Fitch / Shields would be a great fight. I think we would see some sick transitions between Fitch’s wrestling and Shield’s BBJ.

Disagree with john and I really like Alves. I think his bandwagon is full because he has a lot of momentum. Yes, I’m in there too. But I will still be when he loses. But let’s not get ahead of ourselves. Alves is young and will have a great career. But Fitch wins that fight 9 out of 10 times. Alves is more explosive and powerful and always has the flash KO ability. But Fitch is the better all around fighter. Plus I haven’t Alves display the heart that Fitch has yet. If he goes 5 rounds with GSP I might change my tune.

Only reason Fitch beat Alves the 1st time was because alves had NO TAKEDOWN defense at the time. THat has CHANGED DRastically. alves now sports some of the best Takedown defense in the division. Combine that with his bulkier frame, is improved power, athleticism and explosiveness and I honestly think that he would beat Fitch in a rematch. TODAY, alves out classes fitch on the feet significantly more then Fitch out classes ALVES on the ground…so I say, ADVANTAGE ALVES but it would be a PHENOMENAL match up!

Am I the only one who see Fitch as another boring dry-humper? He’ll occasionally choke a dude if he sticks his neck out far enough, but he’s generally pretty happy to man-love his way to decisions.

not to nitpick, but he fought GSP in August of 2008 not 2007.

id say they were making a documentary of his title shot, hoping he would win and make this a big seller..instead he got demolished and the story will have a sad ending lol

I’m a Fitch fan, but this shot looks like the posters for a homoerotica film.

Any word on when and who he will fight next? He’s been kind of quite since his GSP beat down.

Anyone else think this pic looks like the cover to Rammstein’s ‘Herzeleid’ album?

by Jesse Holland on May 29, 2009 11:12 AM EDT reply actions   0 recs

I guess if you think Fitch and them are a bunch of homo’s. But I will say Booby would be more fitting in Rammstein’s pic.
